Getting the Goods by Elizabeth Perry – Review by Laura Leyman

I found this a funny, enjoyable, pleasant read. This book was amazing, I loved the main characters and the whole storyline. It may be short but the story is brilliant.

Gabriella does not have a man in her life, she is approaching 30 and has no signs of having a baby any time soon. Her friend has given her guidance on how to get a baby very unconventionally. In walks in Conner. To be honest I think it would be weird seeing someone taking used condoms especially if the sperm belongs to Gabriella’s new boss.

I did throughly enjoy this read. I would highly recommend!

I fell in love with this book just by reading the blurb. The premise was set to be funny with loads of laughing out loud moments. However I feared that the writing or the main characters will dissapoint. It wasn’t the case!!! Connor and Gabrielle are hilarious characters by law, add in the naughty idea that Gabrielle has in mind and it will let you in fits of laughter. Loved it!!

Getting the Goods is a stand-alone novel from author Elizabeth Perry. My only issue is that I didn’t find this book sooner. I absolutely loved everything about this read, this author has a brilliant writing style that totally connects the reader to the storyline and the amazing characters she has created.

This read was filled with laughs, banter, passion, feistiness, romance and a whole lot of brilliance. I loved the concept of this book, Gabriella has taken it upon herself with the help/guidance of best friend Maria to become a mother in the most unconventional way – stealing sperm, but what she never expected was for Conner Andrews Victim Number 1 to come barrelling back into her life after the humiliation she faced the morning after with him. Especially when she finds out that he is her new boss!
The connection and the back and forth banter these two have from the start is what really sets the tone to this read. Gabriella is always wanting to find any way possible to push Conner’s limits, and what she doesn’t realise is that Conner is actually finding it quite refreshing and amusing, to be honest, is one of the things he actually likes about her. But underneath all the back and forth banter, you could tell there was something sizzling especially after spending time with Conner’s family. They both realise there is actually more to each other than the deal/agreement they made while on their week getaway could something actually become of them? Could Conner go against all he knew and settle down & become a father as that is a major part of being in Gabriella’s life? Can Gabriella finally get her HEA and become pregnant and have the family she always wanted? And will Conner be apart of that life?

I read this book in one sitting! I was truly captivated with this read and couldn’t put it down, it had me laughing out loud, grinning from ear to ear and even feel some of their pain in certain situations through this book, maybe even a few tears. But this was an amazing comedy romance read that I would read over and over again.
With that being said there were many secondary characters in this read that most defiantly deserve their own book such as Carter & Maria, I would love to read their story especially if Conner and Gabriella are involved in the story!

This is an incredible read that has set me up for reading more of Elizabeth Perry’s books. This is a book not to be missed!

Getting the Goods by Elizabeth Perry is wonderful romantic comedy. I laughed a lot through this story as the banter, quips and antics were quite hilarious. Ms. Perry is a ‘new-to-me’ author who I will now be following quite closely, after reading this fantastic story!
Gabriella Martin may only be 29 years old, but her biological clock has been ticking quite loudly. She would love nothing more than to become a mother. So, with her window of opportunity to fall pregnant closing up quite quickly, and also as she hasn’t got a man in her life and doesn’t have enough time to allow nature to take its course- she and her best friend hatch a desperate plan that they hope will result with a ‘bun-in-the-oven’. Their scheme involves picking up a sexy stranger, seducing them and then making off with the ‘goods’ before he’s any wiser. Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans… because things certainly don’t go according to plan for Gabriella’s heist. Sure, the stranger was entirely sexy, and the sex was off-the-charts HOT- but then fumbles when she gets ‘caught’ making off with the ‘goods’. Panic sets in and Sophie takes off, vowing to never try that ploy again- and thankful that she’ll never see his face again. But never say never, right? Because come Monday morning Sophie discovers that he’s now the new owner of the company she works for. #Mortified. How is she supposed to work with this man knowing him so intimately, plus the fact that he knows what she tried to do. But when he needs her help to get the company back on track, bargains are made that will change both their lives forever!
This is such a witty, funny and romantic story- with just enough drama to keep things interesting. The story had more depth than I was expecting, with emotive scenes that were sweet and tender. But there are some serious sparks between them too- with makes for great reading!
I hope this isn’t the last we hear/see of these characters, because I also want to know what happens with Carter, and with Maria- and PLEASE Ms. Perry, don’t leave Alexandria with Cal the AH! She needs her own HEA story, too!!!!
I will definitely be looking out for Ms. Perry’s next book!

Thank you, Ms. Perry!

Getting the Goods, by Elizabeth Perry, is an hilarious romantic comedy. From the beginning, the author has you cracking up with the antics of the characters. Never in my wildest dreams would I anticipate that as the logical option, but “bad” decisions always come in pairs. The lead characters are the epitome of what makes this book work and work well. If you do not fall out of your chair laughing throughout this book, you’ve definitely picked the wrong genre. I enjoyed the dynamics of how the story unfolds and the “battles” that occur within the story. It was fun and enchanting to read.

I loved this book! This is a story about a woman is running out of time to have a baby. She is willing to do what it takes to have one even if it means a one night stand. What happens when an unforgettable meeting of a man changes things for her? These two characters are connectable and lovable. Their chemistry together is off the charts plus they had me on an emotional roller coaster ride. This book kept me reading until the last page, I couldn’t put it down. A must read!

Uproariously good! Seriously, I laughed until I cried while reading “Getting the Goods.” I have not had the chance to read anything from Elizabeth Perry before I picked this one up, but I can assure you that it won’t be my last!

Gabby is turning thirty and really isn’t looking for love or a future with someone. The idea of a little one is another story. Her and her best friend hatch a schemingly crazy idea, one for the movie scripts, and set out to accomplish it. Of course, best laid plans…

Connor is an unsuspecting victim, in more ways than one. The one time he actually has more than a fleeting feeling for someone she wants to run away.

This was so much fun. The storyline added twists to something we are used to seeing in the rom-com category. The emotions were balanced and at the end I was fully invested in the characters and wanting more. Thanks for a great read! On to see what else Ms. Perry has to one-click!

I am literally laughing so hard I’m crying. The summary for this book had me intrigued. But the story had me hooked. I love how funny the author made such a serious moment. I liked how the author gave just enough information to reel me in. Gabby is hitting 30 so her clock is ticking fast and hard. She needs sperm and there is only one way she wants to get it. Having your best friend find the perfect guy through his medical records illegal but brilliant. It’s also crazy because those same traits might not pass to your child. Face Palm moment when you meet the new boss and realized he was your be night stand. I can’t stop laughing. The author did have some serious moment through the book. I felt it shined a light on how communication is key to relationships. Conner and Gabby lacked communication. They didn’t know how to speak up. So much could have been avoided if one of them would’ve just opened their mouth.

OMG, omg, omg! Getting the Goods by Elizabeth Perry had me roaring with laughter and tears rolling down my face. The premise of the story is not one I have read before and absolutely loved it. Elizabeth has written a beautiful love story that is so vivid and rich you imagine everything she has shared with us. How she came up with this wonderful crazy story and made it work is just brilliant. The whole book from start to finish is just amazing. The story is told in dual POV’s which I love and especially with these characters that I fell in love with.

Gabby and her best friend have hatched a plan that no one in their right mind would ever dream of doing. One that leads to more than they ever thought possible.

Connor has always loved ‘em and left them but he finds himself offering a deal of the likes he has never made before and one that he will never make again.

Seriously this is one read that no one and I mean no one should miss. I absolutely want to read more of this wonderful author.
