Cruel Truths (Tessa and Jordan Book 3) by T. Christensen – Review by Shea Gilkerson 10/9/23

Cruel Truths (Tessa and Jordan #3)Cruel Truths by T. Christensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lindy Garcia left her family behind in San Jose to move to New York and give herself a chance to live her dreams. In an effort to help them and help alleviate some of her guilt, she shares an apartment in which her bedroom is in a walk in closet, but the trade off is that she and her roommate keep polar opposite hours for their jobs and she gets to have an apartment in a safe part of town. When she takes one last shot to start following her dreams by applying for a personal assistant job, she has no idea how much her life is about to change.

Cade Kingsley is an intense, brooding man who is a genius with his business sense. He is a marketing wizard and also the son of matriarch of Carrington Couture – the absolute pinnacle of success in Lindy’s eyes. As she waits for her interview, she senses quite a bit of tension in the office. After jumping in to try to help, she realizes what they’re all afraid of is the man she is waiting to interview with – and just interrupted while he was speaking.

Cade and Lindy are immediately surrounded by tension and fireworks, but more of the annoyed with one another kind. While Lindy knows she needs to work harder than ever to make this job work and to start climbing that ladder, something about Mr. Ahole just drives her absolutely insane. What she begins to learn as the book progresses is that his intensity isn’t just for intimidation in the business meeting. When Cade manages to convince Lindy to pretend to be his girlfriend to help seal a deal, she has no choice but to say yes. Will the sparks fly or will tempers flare first?

Undeniable (Central Florida Stories Book 2) by Victoria Saccenti – Review by Shea Gilkerson

Undeniable (Central Florida Stories, #2)Undeniable by Victoria Saccenti
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kurt used to spend a lot of time in his club, Club Nexxus. After serving in the military and coming home suffering from PTSD, he began to lose interest. But one day while checking in, he saw a face he never thought he’d see again – Arely, the little sister of his best childhood friend. He had heard the path his old friend had taken and couldn’t believe it. He was just surviving until he saw her again, especially when he learned she was working in his club to stay hidden from the cartel for her protection.

Arely was involved in human trafficking. The secrets she learned there can be very dangerous for the people running the ring, so once she got out she went into hiding. Bartending in a private club offers a lot of protection in the form of the company knowing everyone who comes in and out, security, and the dim bar makes her feel protected, as well. When she sees Kurt there one day, she can’t believe she is seeing him again. When she is located at Club Nexxus, will she survive? Will she ask for help? Will Kurt help her?

Steamy read, wonderful character building, great chemistry. This is a standalone but the enjoyable writing shines through.

Deception (Central Florida Stories Book 1) by Victoria Saccenti – Review by Shea Gilkerson

Deception (Central Florida Stories, #1)Deception by Victoria Saccenti
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! Deception had me drawn in from the start. Joe is a hardened combat marine who was a squad leader. You begin in the middle of a mission and get into his sharp mind, logic, and dedication to protect his brothers in arms. When they realize they missed a truck, it is too late for things not to go horribly wrong. Joe’s best friend commits combat suicide, he is hit with an IED shrapnel and it puts an end to his military career. After a long healing process, he heads back home to take over the family business.

When he meets the person he holds responsible for the loss of his best friend and his life changing forever, he hatches a plan for revenge. As Hunter opens herself up to him and they begin to connect, he finds himself less sure of beliefs he had held so close to his heart. Will two wounded people get a chance to move past their heartaches and struggles together and find a respite in each other?

Powerfully written, you are immediately drawn in from page one. Relationship building and vulnerability keep you invested. Jumping in to book 2 immediately!
