Dr. Lia A. Roth holds a diverse range of qualifications and licenses, beginning with her business and psychology degrees from the Bank of Boston Foundation and University of Buenos Aires, respectively. In 2001, she received a license to work as a clinical psychologist in Argentina (MN32833). Three years later, she moved to the United States to obtain a master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and a doctoral degree from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. Since 2009, Dr. Roth has held a Missouri license as a clinical social worker (2009030440). In 2016, the Missouri Credentialing Board granted her a Reciprocal Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRAADC) certification. In 2016, she was awarded an International Psychoanalytic Association RTP- Research Fellow. In 2017, she obtained a board certification as a Medication-Assisted Recovery Specialist (MARS). In 2018, she received a board certification as a Clinical Supervisor. She is a member of the APA and APA Division 39, and as of 2021, has also been a Psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology & Stress Specialist. Dr. Roth’s professional achievements have been recognized by her invitation to present a paper and moderate a table at the 150th Ferenczi Anniversary Conference in Budapest, Hungary, in 2023.
Dr. Roth started working as a licensed clinical psychologist in Argentina. She received training in hospital settings both in Argentina and at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She assisted survivors of 9/11 and worked in different agencies helping survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and trauma before opening her private practice in 2010. Dr. Roth has been assisting in legal cases in her professional capacity for over 15 years. Her reports have assisted attorneys in matters of immigration and tort law.
In addition, Dr. Roth has teaching, research, and writing experience. She was a faculty member of the China American Psychoanalytic Alliance (CAPA) and taught Physiology of Mental Conditions at the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine. Since 1994, she has published articles in newspapers and magazines in the United States and abroad. Dr. Roth had her own column in the newspapers El Mundo Latino, El Sol de St. Louis, and Community News in Missouri. She has published various books, including El esfuerzo de estar presente (2001), Brief History of Body Image (2017), Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Gaze, Body Image, Shame, Judgment, and Maternal Function: Being and Belonging, Routledge Publishing, the world’s leading academic publisher in the Human Sciences based in the United Kingdom. Her latest book, Imposter Syndrome: Embracing Autonomy & Shining Bright (2024), published by Editorial Campanadas and Get In or Get Out, But Don’t Stay in the Freakn’ Middle (2024), also published by Editorial Campanadas. Dr. Roth continues her groundbreaking work on betrayal, self-perception, and personal empowerment.
