GOODREADS – Reunion (The Hellgate Chronicles) by Jocelyn Lindsay
BOOKBUB – Reunion (The Hellgate Chronicles) by Jocelyn Lindsay
It’s been twenty-five years since she sealed the Hellgate.
Now, she’s gotta stop the apocalypse. Again.
Meg Walker, a grunge teen of the eighties, has always been rebellious and unconventional. So after a disastrous senior year she flipped destiny the bird and skipped town. But her 42nd birthday comes with an unpleasant surprise: a psychic call from her comatose best friend from high school. Someone is trying to open the Hellgate.
Resigned to her duty as the gatekeeper of evil, Meg reluctantly goes home—it’s time to live up to expectations. As she struggles to reconnect with her old friends, she learns the (second) apocalypse is a cakewalk compared to old romances, professional careers, teenage children, and unresolved emotional baggage.
Is it possible confronting the demons from your past is worse than actual demons?

Jocelyn grew up reading fantasy books by men, about men, for men. When she’d had enough of that, she wrote my own stories. These days she writes urban fantasy novels featuring strong, relatable heroines who navigate both supernatural and real-world challenges with resilience and wit. She wants to showcase badass women who continue to grow and kick ass well into their 40s and beyond. Probably because she’s beyond 40. She wants women to know their lives don’t have to be less spectacular over 40 and that the badass years are ahead of them.

Nothing anyone said in the daylight was going to change a thing. The fact remained: what happened at night was real enough to change things forever.
It was always the same: a warm night, a scream of desire on the wind, the pounding of the ocean waves. Yeah, about as cliché as it got. Knowing that didn’t make it any less real. When there was a mystery afoot, she was there searching for answers.
They weren’t fooling anyone. It was obvious the six owners of the resort were masquerading as Casanovas. That was the reason for all her snooping around: she was going to figure out exactly what was happening on the island, if she had to rip one mask off of them at a time.
In retrospect, maybe she wanted to keep her job instead of playing detective.
I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.
Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.
To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.
People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.
I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you differently.
I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

Wednesday meets High School Musical in this thrilling magical mystery debut, perfect for readers who enjoy the humor of Holly Smale and the mystical world of Rachel Hawkins. Behind the glistening lights of New Orleans hides a darker underbelly, a mysterious world filled with voodoo, magic, necromancy, and gifted people like sixteen-year-old CeCe LeBlanc.
Drama geek by day. Necromancer detective by night.
ACT ONE: CeCe LeBlanc debuts at drama camp. Goodbye to nights talking to the dead, reliving their murders to seek justice. Hello to scene-stealing performances and playing plastic bags in the wind.
ACT TWO: Enter stage right, hunky love interest Zach Wren, who puts the drama in drama camp. Suddenly CeCe’s questioning her “no cliché camp romance” philosophy. The moment she and Zach touch, the intoxicating energy of his magic pulses through her, and sparks fly. The problem? Zach feels it too, and he’s sworn off all things magic.
INTERMISSION: Behind the curtain lurks an evil magic caster, desperate to steal CeCe’s power, haunting her dreams and threatening those she loves. Add in another death and she’s trading in her plastic bags for body bags.
Time is running out, and the danger closes in. No one is safe until she can crack the case.
ACT THREE: CeCe must catch the killer, save her budding romance, and protect the people she loves. All before the final bow. With co-stars like these, what could possibly go wrong?
Nothing a necromantic, drama loving girl can’t handle.

Debbie Hibbert is an author, lover of chocolate, and finder of weird things. What kind of weird things, you might ask? There was that one time with the mysterious chimes. The porcelain doll in the woods. The plastic flamingo in the trees. The Hell gates…yes, plural.
When not writing, Debbie likes to explore old graveyards, drink Diet Dr. Pepper, and solve mysteries with her dogs, Sherlock and Watson. She also likes the beach. Sunny days. Blue skies. Toes in the sand… You get the idea.
She’s a Texas transplant that resides in Houston. In a hurricane, during the apocalypse, or through an extended reading of bad jokes on Twitter, she would choose her resourceful hubby and talented offspring to guarantee survival.

BESTSELLING author Martha Sweeney presents her first paranormal romance/fantasy series (Sleigh Riders) that features bikers, swearing, spiked hot chocolate, magic, innuendos and so much more.
The bitter fault of one caused the magic from within to wither and die.
A feud has ensued for many generations, leaving most from both the Frost Clan and the Klaus Clan unaware of its origin. What happens when Noelle Frost and Nikolaus Klaus find themselves drawn to each other? Will their worlds collide, destroying everything in their wake? Or, do they have the power to bridge the ancient chasm and restore balance to the world?
This is NOT your average holiday story and NOT for the faint of heart.
Martha Sweeney is an Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple Books BESTSELLING author who writes in a variety of genres: romance (contemporary, romcom, suspense, paranormal, and historical), suspense, fantasy, thriller, coloring books, and soon, science fiction. She strives to push herself as a storyteller with each new tale and hopes to push her readers outside of their comfort zone whether it be genre or the stories themselves.
With a B.S. in Psychology, Martha utilizes her knowledge of human and animal behavior successfully in the business world and in her writing to present realistic characters and situations. She’s been creative since she was little, always drawing, coloring or making crafts, so her venture into being an author was a natural transition.

“The deep magic of nature, though broken, lies waiting to be revitalized—or so readers may dream.” Kirkus Review
Coyote Jim, the shape-shifting spirit of a desert valley, goes on a road trip through a dystopic post climate change future and finds a lover in a dying timber town in Washington state. Rachel the Raven presides over a tavern in the dying timber town and protects a small community of elderly survivalists from the local militia. Pete, a grunge musician who had a local following in the 1990’s, disappeared into the wilderness of Mt. Rainier. Now forty years later, he feels a bit lonely and begins to reach out to people in their dreams.
A Mountain in the Air is a trilogy consisting of three closely connected magical realism novellas set in a near future ravaged by climate change. The first two novellas were previously published as Coyote’s Road Trip and Raven Woman’s Tavern.

Linda Burson, a native of Pennsylvania, but long time Connecticut resident, has been writing ever since she was given a writing assignment in school, at the age of eight. Later, as a teenager, she started out writing memoirs and attempted several nonfiction pieces.
After attending college studying English, Psychology, and Business Law, Linda worked in positions where she wrote and edited papers for others. She spent time pursuing other interests, and traveling. Much of Linda’s free time was spent reading mysteries, romance, and women’s contemporary fiction novels.
After several attempts at writing nonfiction, but having life get in the way, she put her passion on hold again. She gave up writing to focus on raising her daughters, being a wife, running her own businesses and taking care of her dog, a Lhasa Apso named Nathan.
After a serious bout of breast cancer, Linda eventually closed her business after fifteen years. She decided it was time to attempt writing again. This time, however, with nothing to distract her, she decided on tackling fiction, a contemporary, commercial romance with a dark edge.
On January 1, 2013, she sat down with her laptop and started writing the first chapter. After a few more chapters, she realized the story wasn’t near complete. Before she was aware of it, her idea of a single book turned into a trilogy, which turned into a much longer series called the MARCY SERIES. There are a total of thirteen books in the series. Most of the series were published by a small publishing house. After the publishing house closed, Linda re-edited the series, gave the novels new covers, and self-published them.
When asked about inspiration, Linda has this to say: “Nobody really inspired me to write, but I do remember my mother and father always saying ‘anything you put your mind to you can accomplish. Don’t ever let anyone tell you, you can’t do something.’ Having the support and encouragement of my family is also important.”
Linda has also published a standalone murder mystery novel entitled, Murder Among Friends, a romantic suspense novel called, The Colors of my Life, and a short story as a part of a five-story anthology with other authors called Where There’s Murder, There’s Mystery. Her story is entitled, Lies Aren’t Forever. Another Romantic suspense called The Kidnapping has also just been self-published.
