GOODREADS – Casting Vows (Hearts of Gold Series) by Ariella Talix

Casting Vows is a story of lost love, found love, and misunderstood love. Three people with hearts of gold need to find their way through seemingly insurmountable challenges.
Danger strikes from all directions. Nothing is as it seems.
Nicolo Stark-James loves with his whole heart, but he finds there are despicable people who are willing to ruin everything.
Matty Remington needs to be safe, but he’s trapped. He has strong faith and a heart made for loving, but he needs to reconcile his love for God with his personal desires.
Eden Godwin might be the one to hold them all together, but her future isn’t her own to decide. She is pitted between love and saving her family from ruin.
Obligations are questioned, and promises are made that may not be kept. The duty to family, faith in God, and devotion to a lover seem to war with one another in this stunning and steamy MMF romance set in Los Angeles in the 1880s.

Ariella Talix is the nom de plume of a bestselling author who lives in America’s Heartland.

Her goal is to preserve the dignity of family members who would rather not be associated publicly with a woman who writes such scandalous and stimulating novels. She’s not going to stop writing them, though.

She loves her family, pets, great books, not-so-great books that still entertain, and art.

Born and raised near the beaches of southern California, Ariella Talix traveled the world extensively and then found her true home in the Midwest. She has a second-degree black belt in Karate and has been a professional artist for many years. Her work is displayed in countries all over the world.

A sudden brainstorm prompted the first of her novels, Make Believe, and since then the ideas just keep tumbling out like an avalanche.

Maggie Sims began her love affair with romance before her teen years, drawn to the Regency by her mum’s British influence. In her twenties, she did her best to live the Carrie Bradshaw life in New York City, albeit with less expensive shoes and more books.

Despite reading hundreds of romance novels in her life, she was still blown away when she met the love of her life, an ex-Marine cinnamon roll with creative woodworking and culinary skills.

Having retired from corporate life, they live in Central Texas and are parents to a varying number of dogs and cats.  When not writing, Maggie is a wine enthusiast, a travel junkie, and a romance reading fiend.  She also sporadically crochets for KnotsofLove.org and does just enough exercise for that second glass of wine at night.

Bang has a knack for adopting the most improbable causes…

It’s 2003. Blanche “Bang” Murninghan is perfectly content sitting on the dock of the Peel ‘n Eat Pier on Santa Maria Island, sipping an excellent draft and wiggling her fishing pole after an elusive sheepshead. Perfectly content, that is, until Jean McMahon appears at her side and forever disrupts Blanche’s peaceful idyll with ghosts of the past.

Blanche’s amateur sleuthing skills have become local legend, and Jean needs her help. It’s not a simple favor Jean asks: Will Blanche go to Vietnam with her and look for Jean’s mother?

Blanche feels an old wound rip open in her heart. Her father was killed in Vietnam, and she’d never gotten much history from her beloved grandmother on the subject. She realizes she and Jean share a powerful bond: They both want the truth.

It’s the hot, end of summer days in gritty downtown Los Angeles, 1932. A cannibal with gourmet taste is on the loose. Can Sparky, an eleven-year-old former street punk and amateur girl detective, crack this crazy case?

Sparky gets no crime-solving help from former silent screen star Tootsie and her assistant Gilbert, who’s always busy cooking. Sure, Sparky’s found a home in their spooky mansion stuffed with old costumes. But Tootsie decides it will be great publicity if the press thinks she’s the cannibal.

What?

Sparky’s only help comes from a mysterious twelve-year-old boy who works at a peculiar pet shop. Wait a minute—what if he’s the cannibal?

Sparky faces tommy guns. She faces fists from tough girl Petunia (a cannibal?). Worst of all, she faces going back to school. No!

Adding to the mystery is the pair of missing priceless jewels.

The rub? This mess might all be Sparky’s fault.

The Cannibal Caper: A Sparky of Bunker Hill Mystery follows award-winning The Cold Kid Case: A Sparky of Bunker Hill Mystery. This zany, 1930s historical mystery series is a fast-paced, humorous read for fans of historical cozy mysteries and historical fiction.
