Thrilling Ethan (Thrill of the Chase, #2) by Anna Paige – Review by Jenni Bishop

Thrilling Ethan (Thrill of the Chase, #2)Thrilling Ethan by Anna Paige
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thrilling Ethan by Anna Paige certainly lives up to its title and is totally thrilling and amazing and beautifully written. Anna has written a story that is so full of emotions that I found myself in tears as I navigated this journey with these outstanding characters and their world. This book proves that family comes in all shapes and sizes and that love can heal places we didn’t know could be healed. The story equally had me laughing out loud and swooning as our main characters relationship developed not only between themselves but with their friends as well. Anna has certainly blown this story out of the water and I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series. I am now off to read the first book as I don’t want to miss out on any of Annas work.

The Black KnightsThe Black Knights by Elyse Reyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Black Knights is the third book in the Vespers Chronicles by Elyse Reyes and is a great continuation of the story. This journey with the Vespers is fast paced and action packed and the story is well written and flows nicely. As usual the story is engaging from the very start. I have loved this series from the beginning and love catching up with these characters like they are old friends. Watching Jasper grow and become the woman she is, faults and all, has been amazing. She is strong and powerful whilst at the same time vulnerable. Leading the Vespers is hard enough but when you have someone trying to undermine you from the inside, evil trying to destroy the order itself and people you love there is only so much you can take before you let loose.

Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Bellissimo Fortuna (Beautiful Fortune) (The Family Trilogy Book #1) by Leigh Ann  Lunsford is the first book in this series. The story is intriguing and will have you on the  edge of your seat as you ride the roller coaster. I found my heart pounding as I  navigated the twist and turns that you don’t see coming. I was immediately drawn to  the characters and I loved the easy bonds and friendships and the love and loyalties.   This story has it all, romance and love, suspense and mystery, drama and heartbreak  that left me feeling emotional. It is very intense at times but a beautiful story.     If you enjoy a romance that has it all then grab a copy and settle in and enjoy the ride.

Must Love Fashion (Darling Cove Book 1) by Deborah Garland

4 Stars

This is my first book by this author and although fashion is not something that interests me in a book or in real life for that matter, I really did enjoy this story. The characters were written so that I understood them completely. Andrew has has a heart breaking past and Gwen “the sexy devil that just so happens to wear prada” (LOL I love that) tempts him and and makes him question everything he has ever believed about being in a relationship.

Something else I just don’t like to read about or think about in my everyday life is cancer, and this book shows just how much that awful word and sickness can affect people that have to deal with it in one way or the other. Can these two get past all the hurt they have experienced in their lives and open up to each other, and have happiness together?

I really did enjoy the writing style of this author, and the story flow was spot on. The secondary characters were awesome and I am looking forward to reading more from this author and will definitely be looking forward to the next in this series.

What he doesn’t realise is that this job would be his toughest assignment to date, in more ways than one. Can Meda stay out of trouble? Will Perseus be able to save her?

Overall, this is a brilliant read and I am anxiously awaiting the next book to see what happens to Meda and Persius.

This series crosses a mixture of genres such as, urban fantasy and fantasy, magic and romance. This book is action packed from the word go and Parker’s storyline will keep you pumped as we watch our sassy and strong heroine kick some butt whilst coming face to face with demons and Fae and magic users of all kinds. But who can she really trust? Are her feelings truly hers or is there something else at play? This book ends on a huge cliffhanger that makes you cry out in frustration as you wait for the next book. Must Love Fashion (Darling Cove #1)Must Love Fashion by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Must Love Fashion by Deborah Garland is the first book in the Darling Cove series and is such a heartfelt and engrossing story, that follows two people who work at a top fashion industry and where the journey of finding love is not as easy as it should be. I greatly enjoyed this story and Deborah’s writing style, where the character’s are strong and the steamy romance is not always smooth sailing but has complexities with twists and turns. But oh what a story! I was unable to put this book down as I had to know what was coming and where things were going with this couple, Andrew who is still grieving and Gwendolyn moving on from a failed marriage. The relationship between the two is explosive and tumultuous in and out of the bedroom and add that to their daily lives in the fashion world and sparks fly!

This story is full of love and laughter, heartache and loss but is not a story that should be missed. I can’t wait to see what Deborah has in store for us next.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew me away. I love a good sport romance but this talented author exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book to A Coach Love series. I was drawn to these characters right from the start. I devoured this amazing book in day and a half.

Trystan was in pro-baseball until he decided he wanted to help out his country. He went across seas and came home injured. His injuries shattered his dreams to ever play pro- baseball again. Trystan goes back home and he starts to work for a construction company. He loves his new job and he also makes new friends. Trystan goes out one night and makes a very bad decision that gets him into trouble with the law. He is very lucky because the judge gives him a chance to redeem himself. Trystan is told that he has to coach the towns little league team. He is all about doing his time and move on but little does he know his life is going to change. Trystan meets a beautiful single mom Stella and he can’t stop thinking about her. Stella is the mother of DJ one of his baseball players. She was not wanting to give his the time of day at first. They then start to talk and get to know each other. He quickly realizes that he is falling for this woman but is she feeling the same way? Will Trystan lose the best thing that has happened to him or will he refuse to lose and fight for what he wants?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, healing, struggles, and forgiveness. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Trystan is the hot bachelor of this town. He looks like he can be arrogant but he has a heart of gold. The way he treats Stella and her son will make you swoon. Stella is a beautiful mom that will do anything for her son. She went through a horrible tragedy that makes her more stronger. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your toes curl. This book talks about some real life problems that is going on in this world. I absolutely loved the ending it will make you cry. I can’t wait to see what this amazing author will write next.

Siren Call (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 3) by Phoebe Alexander

5 Stars

In my opinion it says a lot about an author when she has a series out that deals with something I don’t understand or want to understand as far as the swinger lifestyle yet I find myself not being able to wait for each book in that series. I love the people in this series and their stories, but what I love the most is this author’s way of telling these stories.

I don’t read f/f, yet I loved this book. I connected with Jessie immediately and loved everything about her. It took me a bit longer to connect with Sirena, I just had trouble trusting her and it took hearing her complete story to totally understand her. I loved checking back in with all of the characters from the first 2 books and now can not wait for Casey’s story.

I only picked this book because of the author as she has become a definite favorite of mine and I highly recommend anyone that hasn’t read her books to pick one and read it and I just know you will love her as much as I do.

First Fire (The Guardians Series Book #0.5) by S. Lawrence – Review by Angela Hayes

First Fire (The Guardians, #0,5)First Fire by S. Lawrence
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First Fire is the first book in The Guardians series by S. Lawrence. It is a fantasy with some mythological aspects to the tale. The author does a great job of adding uniqueness and individuality to the entire story. This novella is the first book that I have read by S. Lawrence, and I am happy to say that it won’t be the last. The story is engrossing, well written and fun. It is a very quick and easy read, but never felt rushed or cut short in any way, like some other novellas seem to. The characters are interesting and fully realised, with wonderful backstories and unique personalities. The story is emotive, with just enough drama and action to be engaging, and to keep me turning the pages to find out what was happening.
We meet Ylva, who is the daughter of a goddess and a berserker- and Asger, who is a berserker warrior, whom the gods have selected to become the first ‘Guardian’. We follow the story and the characters as they hurdle training, ritual, obligations, and love- while learning to control new found powers.
There’s a lot going on in this short story and I enjoyed reading it all. I look forward to more from S. Lawrence in the future.

Thank you, S. Lawrence!

Island Smile: An Action Adventure Romance (Stranded in Paradise, #2)Island Smile: An Action Adventure Romance by Lindsay Marie Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Island Smile is the second book in the Stranded in Paradise by Lindsay Marie Miller. It is an action romance story where lives are destroyed thanks to one evil and selfish person. The action and mayhem starts almost right from the get go, where something that should be a wonderful and joyous occasion is overthrown by evil and horrific events. When faced with something from their past our main characters are in shock with what they see and what it will mean for them. Of course waiting for the devil to show his true colours doesn’t take long and everyone is thrown into chaos and find themselves in a place they never thought they would see again.

The romance in this story is not in the forefront of the book, the story mainly focuses on the action and boy does it have action. If you like action/romance, this book is definitely for you.

Coastal Spirit: Stranded in Paradise book 3 by Lindsay Marie Miller – Review by Shannon Fowler

Coastal Spirit: An Action Adventure Romance (Stranded in Paradise, #3)Coastal Spirit: An Action Adventure Romance by Lindsay Marie Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The third book to the Stranded in Paradise Trilogy brings us new characters and reunites us with the old ones. Elaine and Henry are still fighting for their lives to get off the island and this time Henry’s sister, Louisa is with them. At the end of book 2 a volcano has erupted and Henry and Elaine barely have the strength to stand thanks to the beating from Judas. Somehow Elaine finds more of her inner strength and is able to get them to safety.

I really liked the adventure these characters took, even though it wasn’t an adventure they chose. In the first story, Jungle Eyes, I found Elaine a little unsettled and possibly bi polar. However, in Coastal Spirit, she is matured, level headed and ready to take on the evil Judas and Frederic. I like the growth this character has taken. I like the twist and surprise that comes with Frederic and with Captain Scarlett. I know there has to be more to his story.

The only thing that really bothered me in this book was that there didn’t seem like enough worry about Lily. I’m not sure if Elaine just put Lily out of her mind in order to survive but I kept thinking, “What about Lily?” “Who’s got Lily?” Thankfully by the end of the story Lily’s situation is revealed.

I highly recommend this book but it is not a standalone. You must start with Jungle Eyes. I can’t wait to see what else Lindsay Marie Miller has in store.

Break Away (The Baltimore Banners, #5) by Lisa B. Kamps – Review by Jana Teppih

Break Away (The Baltimore Banners, #5)Break Away by Lisa B. Kamps
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Break Away is the fifth book in Lisa B. Kamps’ Baltimore Banners series and a hockey romance in its true form! I have not read the other stories in the series but I have read another book by the writer, also a hockey romance, so I knew that I will be graced with something good!
Break Away is the story of Jean-Pierre “JP” Larocque and Emily Poole. These two went through a tragic event five years earlier and it has marked their lives ever since … I can see how some people would feel that they miss hearing more about their backgrounds as everything in the story is shadowed by that tragic event but I do not mind actually as it is a beautiful example of the ‘now’ … how our lives get interrupted and how do we deal with tragedy and what do we need in those horrible moments … Not all of us get a second chance so Break Away is a heart-breaking and heart-warming story of what could happen when the two people who were torn apart by one defining tragic event meet again … is there a way forward, together or are the memories too hard to bear to even remotely to imagine a possible future together…
I love the writer’s style, it is simple and to the point and grabs you by your heart strings. I know I will be reading more of her writing!

Island Smile: An Action Adventure Romance (Stranded in Paradise, #2)Island Smile: An Action Adventure Romance by Lindsay Marie Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 2 in the Stranded in Paradise series is full of surprises! Some good and some not so much! Lindsay Marie Miller can write a story that draws a reader right in. Sometimes a reader wants to be the main character but I am reserving that idea for the happily ever after that is sure to come…right? Please.

The ending of Island Smile leaves everyone, characters and readers alike, wondering what is going to happen! Who will survive the island?! HOW will they survive?! Does anyone ever really die on the island?

Remember this series is set in the 1900’s so men and women were still learning that women could do more than just look pretty. Elaine and Louisa are girl power for sure! I loved the characters in this story so much better than in book one. Elaine seemed a little unsettled, I believe I said bi-polar, during Jungle Eyes. This story has her level headed and determined. I like this version of her better. Henry, her husband, is the protective, loving husband he should be. A little full of rage but really I do not blame him one bit. I also love the character of Louisa, Henry’s sister. We met her in book one, but she has a much bigger part in this story. I can only wonder what is going to happen in the next book.

I am looking forward to reading Coastal Spirit and highly recommend you read this series, starting with book one, Jungle Eyes.

Abandoned Love (Love Sick, #2)Abandoned Love by Sydney Aaliyah Michelle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Abandoned Love is the second book in Sydney Aaliyah Michelle’s Love Sick series. I had not read the first book when I picked up this one and I had not read any other books by this writer either … and now I know that I have lost out on beauty! She is a writer that should be on your radar and she definitely is on mine now!
Abandoned Love is the story of Cody Travis and Briann Hobbs – a wannabe NFL player and a personal trainer … sounds boring, right? In reality, it is a great BWWM Sports Romance that takes place in New Orleans (YEY!) and these two, they are so opposite so that it totally makes sense! I enjoyed the ride that they took me on and even though at times I got a bit annoyed with Briann (though I totally got why she acted the way she did), I still hoped for them to find their way!
It was also great how the writer gave us glimpses of Ryan and Leah who were the leads in her first book … I need to pick up their book as well for sure! What a story they have (at least that is what I got from the bits and pieces that the writer gave us here!). Pick up a copy and join Cody and Briann in the hot and humid New Orleans!

Then Again (A Juniper Court Series Novel) by Sylvie Stewart – Review by Angela Hayes

Then AgainThen Again by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Then Again by Sylvie Stewart is a Juniper Court Novel. This is such a sweet and funny story which kept me engrossed from the very beginning. I loved Ms. Stewart’s Carolina Connections series and when I read the blurb on this book, I just knew I would love it too. It didn’t disappoint and is my favourite of the Juniper Court series of standalone- and that’s saying a lot because there are a lot of excellent stories in the collection.
The Juniper Court Series is a collaboration of seven authors who each produced a standalone story that is set on the same street. There are seven stories and each book is individual and unique to its author, the books may vary in style, content and storyline, but they all have the same inspiration- a person/couple who reside on Juniper Court.
This story was a lot of fun to read, with some hilarious quips, banter, one-liners, and antics. There were also emotional moments, as well as sweet and tender touches. I really connected to the character/s and invested heavily in the story. I devoured this book in a flash, I was enthralled from beginning to end. I got to the end and wanted to turn around and read it all over again.
Jenna was blindsided by divorce papers two years ago. To say she was shattered is an understatement. But having her two precious girls meant that she couldn’t give in to her emotions or give up. She had to keep strong for the girls, keep life as ‘normal’ as possible- so that meant putting up a cheerful and optimistic facade- all the while struggling just to make it through the days.
Now she has decided it’s time she took a bite out of life. She thinks a summer fling will be just the thing to get her back in ‘the saddle’. But, all her hopeful ideas don’t go according to plan. And what ensues makes for captivating reading. Will she find her summer fling?
I really recommend this book, and the series- you are bound to love it just as much as I have!

Thank you, Ms. Stewart!

Bellissimo FortunaBellissimo Fortuna by Leigh Ann Lunsford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bellissimo Fortuna by Leigh Ann Lunsford is the first book in her new The Family Trilogy and it is her first mafia based story! I have read most of her other books so I was hoping that even though it is a different genre, she would not disappoint and indeed, she did live up to her reputation so now I can with clear conscience say that I have not read any of her books that I did not like!
Bellissimo Fortuna is the story of Callie and Bronson and they have loved each other since they were kids … their journey is not for the faint at heart, I am sure you can imagine (to certain extent) when remembering that this is a mafia story! I felt for Callie and I cried for her and I was keeping my fingers crossed that she would make it and find her way to happiness … at times I felt there were way too many obstacles on their way but then … most of us struggle and that without having our loyalty tested and our decisions having deadly consequences …
I loved how the writer was using the dual POV to tell the story so that we could get deeper into the characters … on the other hand it also made it so much more painful … Oh man, does Leigh Ann knows how to pull us in and keep us on the edge of our seat and reaching for the next book in the series!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beckoned: From London is the first part of a new “Beckoned” series and is also the debut novel by Aviva Vaughn. This book is a slow-burn, contemporary women’s fiction story- full of vibrant and vivid descriptions of travel, adventure, food, longing, second chances, and romance. I loved Ms. Vaughn’s attention to detail, and the way she used her words to bring Barcelona, London and all the wonderful descriptions to life. This is a great story, and Ms. Vaughn has certainly made an impression on me. I was captivated by Angela and Soren and really enjoyed following them through this story.
The book has a great pace and a smooth flow. It has the feel of a ‘classic’ read, like a Jane Austin novel. The writers style was very easy to read and made me want to turn the pages to find out what would happen. The adventures are set to continue in the next book- which I will definitely be reading.

Jungle Eyes: An Action Adventure Romance (Stranded in Paradise, #1)Jungle Eyes: An Action Adventure Romance by Lindsay Marie Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is an interesting adventure. The time is the late 1800’s and times call for mothers to marry off their children, hoping for happiness, wealth and maybe even love. Henry’s mother is the epitome of all mothers from that time. Henry, however, is not interested in marriage or even listening to his mother talk on and on about the young girls all over town. Henry’s friend, Charlie, has enlisted to join a group of men for an adventure overseas. Little do they know the fate that awaits them. When Henry washes up on a deserted island, he never dreams he would meet another human being, much less, Elaine.

These two characters… whoa. Their relationship makes me just a little crazy. I guess Elaine was young when she landed on the island and having been alone for so long would make a person a little unsettled. She seems to me a little bi-polar. I can certainly see why she behaves the way she does. I can’t wait to see where Miller takes these two. I am looking forward to a wild adventure!

I have read other books by Lindsay Marie Miller and her books are a little fantasy, a little adventure, a little romance and in this story a little mystery at the ending!

Shifting Ground is the collection of short stories by Alice Rachel from her Under Ground series. The concept allows us a look at the characters from the series and the lives they lead. Alice writes with so much passion as we see the everyday struggles and horrible times.

There are twelve different stories that make up this anthology and the journey is not always happy. Some will pull on your heartstrings and others will make you angry and want to smack someone but there are those that will put smile on your face.

I love the fact that the proceeds of this book go to such a good cause, The Ally Coalition (an LGBT association helping LGBT+ youth in need)

Surface (Guarding Her #1) by Anna Brooks – Review by Jenni Bishop

Surface (Guarding Her #1)Surface by Anna Brooks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Surface is the first book in the Guarding Her series by Anna Brooks is well written  sweet love story and has a good plot which made it hard to put the book down. I love a  good forbidden love story, where you can’t and shouldn’t get what you want but you  can’t stop yourself, no matter how hard you try. Protecting her is his job but loving  her was his passion. The story had just the right amount of humour and suspense and  twists and turns to keep you interested.    I enjoyed it and can not wait to read more of this series.

A God of Gods (Dreams of Chaos, #3) by Ashley Chappell – Review by Naomi McDonald

A God of Gods (Dreams of Chaos, #3)A God of Gods by Ashley Chappell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A God of Gods is the third book in the Dreams of Chaos series. It is highly recommended that you read the first two books before you read this one. If you read this one without reading the previous ones, you will not have all of the background that you need.

I love this series! The characters have depth and the story is engaging. My favorite characters at this point are Prowler and Erwin for their sarcastic humor, Miskarot for her no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is attitude, and Eric because he is finding out that his past does not define his character. I also really enjoyed the evolution of Eric and Ali’s relationship, and the way that Crane steps up to acknowledge his connection to Trotter.

Trotter and her friends have been through a lot in the span of the first two books. They have been successful at facing evil. But, now the darkness threatens to end existence and it wants to use Trotter to bring it about. Whereas before they were relying on something larger than themselves to help them fight, now they realize that the gods are nearly powerless against this new enemy. There is one answer that may save them all, but there is a high price to pay.

A God of Gods pushes all of the feeling buttons, at least for me it did. Laughter, sorrow, anger, love, adventure, betrayal…this book has it all.
