Apocalypse (Guardians Book II)Apocalypse by Theresa Pocock
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 stars

In the second book of this original YA fantasy series, the Edenians find themselves in the middle of a fight to keep evil from getting to the tree of life and trying to preserve thousands of years of secrets. It is an original premise with multiple layers with myth, folklore, religious overtones and more. The characterisation is once again strong and complex and have real depth to them. It is beautifully written and cleverly crafted where the world building ensnares you as much as the magic we find in the story.
The Joneses it seems have had a long-standing endeavour to get what they want, and they don’t care who they step on to get what they want even if it means taking out their own in the way.

This second book takes off from where the first one left at. Seth we know is working for the Joneses as all of their previous attempts to infiltrate the town have been foiled by guardians. Yet Seth made the deal before he met Miriam and now his world has changed and his outlook is different. Will he really be able to take vengeance on Edenia while Miriam is on the line? When Seth finally feels connected to someone else!

Miriam has placed all her trust in Seth and the path he chooses to take. Seth means a lot to Miriam, she has finally started finding her voice in a town that shunned her because of her unnatural talent. However, if she loses Seth in this battle for the tree of life she might just lose herself in the process and her faith in her master’s plan! Meanwhile Peter has yet to discover how his specific nature plays a role in his guardian status. The constant turmoil he is in is inhibiting him from discovering the full power of his nature. In order to discover the role he plays he must come to peace with his nemesis but is that a battle he can win? With the apocalypse upon the world our characters all have an inner turmoil they must battle where each decision could impact the fate of Edenia and the guardians beliefs. Who will win in this age old battle over good vs. evil?

This book is full of the characters’ own stories that the author has intermingled flawlessly into one page turner book. If you haven’t read the first you definitely should as it will make everything that much easier to understand, especially the interactions between the characters. This book I literally could not put down and ended up reading it from cover to cover in one afternoon. I’ll be recommending this book to everyone looking for a recommendation of a fantasy book.

Apocalypse (Guardians Book II)Apocalypse by Theresa Pocock
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in this series which I enjoyed just as much as the first one. I highly suggest reading the first book before this one to help your enhancement of this series as well as the author’s writing style. This is a well written story that has characters that are creative and made the story entertaining to read. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is full of fantasy. A story of protecting secrets in the midst of chaos. I enjoyed what the characters brought to this story. They made the story easy to read and kept me turning pages. I also enjoyed the growth of the plot throughout the story. This is a great fantasy story that is worth the pick up. I highly recommend this book.

This was a wonderful read from start to finish. I was amazed, and sucked right in from the start. I had not read the previous one before this amazing novel, but I was able to follow it perfectly well, and really loved the character development in this one.

This one drew me in rather quick. The history and story behind the tree and the life it gave, was intriguing in more than one way. The visual effects of that scene were one for the eyes. I loved how the story built and how things were progressing and such. The characters, that would be a full length description from me haha. The characters, every one of them, was ideal in a shape or form. They all had something in them that had to be told and heard. To me that was beautiful and captivating. I found the pace kept up, and as I had questions answered, more came to light. It was perfect in every which way. i really loved the writing, the characters, the story, I was left wanting more at the end. I am for sure am going to be going back to read the previous book. Wonderful and amazing book! Loved it so much!

I do very much highly recommend this book, and defiantly recommend this author (who was a first time read for me.) The book was compelling and full moments where you could not stop reading, even for a second. I fell in love so easily with the book and characters. Highly recommend, for sure, a must read!

As a child, Courtney always had aspirations of being a writer. She participated in journalism in school. At home, she wrote short stories, poetry and filled diary pages. Somewhere along the line becoming an adult took priority over her writing and she went to work in business operations.

Now as a mother to three beautiful children, she tells them all the time to follow their dreams, be whatever they want. Those lessons reminded her how much she loved writing. She finally opened the door to making writing a real priority in her life.

Living outside of Portland, Oregon she loves the green and beauty Oregon offers. When she’s not matching wits with her children, her crazy Siberian Husky or her bi-polar cats, she enjoys binge reading, hikes and touring wineries. Courtney and her husband, the love of her life, enjoy traveling the world whenever they can get a free moment. And cruises….she loves cruising. She’s especially fond of life, laughter and sarcasm – and she’s excited to share all of that and more with her readers!
