In the summer of 1976, Scoob, a twelve-year-old musical prodigy, dreams of becoming a jazz legend like the great Louis Armstrong. But first, she needs to get off the streets. When Scoob lands a paying gig, she thinks her luck is about to change—she now has the chance to play in front of a famous band leader with his own TV show. This could be her big break! But Scoob’s older brother, RC, drags his little sister along on an unwelcome road trip. Broke and unable to afford food, Scoob and RC “borrow” gas along the way until they find themselves stuck in the small town of Rexburg, Idaho. The idyllic farming community is buzzing with controversy over a newly built dam, with residents divided over the safety of the structure.
Stranded in the tiny town and pestered by a growing group of well-meaning locals, Scoob tries her best to get back home to California and her audition, struggling to understand why her brother doesn’t seem to want to leave. RC is hiding something, and Scoob soon discovers he isn’t being honest with her. On a warm summer morning, a heartbroken Scoob decides to head home on her own, but that very day, Rexburg’s new dam springs a leak. Within a few short hours, a wall of water is rushing toward the tiny town, destroying everything in its path. Scoob must fight for her life and face mounting odds as she tries to decide what really matters.

Aching hearts. Tender touches. Healing love.
In the quaint town of Gainesville, Georgia, ER doctor Gene Rowland seeks solace and purpose after years of tirelessly tending to the sick and injured. Eager to rekindle his love for medicine, he returns to his childhood home, hoping to find clarity amidst the quiet streets and familiar faces.
Little did Gene know that his home coming welcome starts with a sudden rescue of a persistent baker, Amanda Garner, who got into a bizarre accident. Not expecting such a dramatic return, Gene suddenly finds himself nursing Amanda and feels compelled to help her figure out what happened.
Caught between his new role as the town’s doctor, his growing attachment to a patient, and the small-town gossips, Gene soon discovers he can’t resist Amanda’s warm touch and delectable creations. She does more than just kindle his passion. She also has a remarkable power to heal his heart and faith in his fellow humans. This novella is a prequel to the stories in the Echo series. Readers who fell in love with the supporting characters in Echoing Hearts will be happy to find out how Dean Rowland’s big brother, Dr. Gene Rowland, met the love of his life and the mother of his children.

James Williamson is a silly dad, with quirky ideas popping into his head all the time. He is a father of two girls and enjoys seeing the world through their eyes as they continue to grow and explore.

Inspiration for his debut novel Mealtime at the Zoo, PB & J Café, came while walking through the Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s reptile house.  As he considered the snakes behind the glass, he asked his daughter a simple silly question…

“What would a snake put in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?”

Slightly disgusted she responded, ‘a mouse’ and so began this books journey.

With this question in mind, adding a little rhythm and rhyme, one line evolved into to two, then three, then four, and many many more.  Eventually, a series of stanzas were compiled and a fun and exciting children’s book for kids 3 to 8 years old was born.

James’ primary goal is to inspire children to continue to be silly, creative, and curious with fun rhymes and vibrant art.

Julie Castle is a natural-born romantic with a modicum of artistic talent inherited from her mom and a love for telling tall tales she got from her dad. That set her up for being a starving artist, the biggest fibber in the world, or a romance author. She’s so glad she chose the latter. She’s always had a love affair with the written word. As a child growing up in a small town, she loved visiting the local library, a converted gilded age mansion, and getting lost between the pages of a book. The drafty old mansion could be a spooky place, but she still loved it. She enjoyed poking into behind the scenes areas she wasn’t supposed to venture into. She’s still the same way, which is why she loves writing romance with an edge, paranormal, suspenseful, super sexy, or just laugh your pants off funny. She resides in Wisconsin with her family.

In the cutthroat world of professional sports, I’m the agent who always calls the shots. Until a decade-old feud with hockey superstar Banks Bennet resurfaces, and I’m forced to play nice.
When his agent drops him and rumors of a trade swirl through the league faster than a puck on a breakaway, I find myself in the dreaded role of Banks’s new agent. There’s no doubt I can save his career from crashing into the boards, but only if we don’t strangle each other first.
All I need to do is whip this man-baby into shape and negotiate an epic contract that will establish me once and for all as the top hockey agent in the league. No problem, right? But between babysitting Banks, battling perimenopausal mood swings, and fighting this annoying attraction to my client, I’m facing a hat trick of challenges.
Not everything about Banks is what it seems. Under all that bravado and childish behavior lies a sensitive and considerate guy who values more than just his time on the ice–leaving me to wonder if maybe there’s more to life than just wins and losses.

Touched (Elemental Passions #1)Touched by Skye Turner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a great romance story written by ten great authors. Some are new to me and some are favorites. This is an engaging story that is hard to put down. A story where it takes fae and human, forbidden love and one where fate will step in and take over. I enjoyed the characters and how creative they are. Their journey had me wanting to know what would happen next. They are connectable, relatable and brought the story to life. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout which made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced story that has so much entertaining value. This is one you don’t want to miss. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to the second one. I highly recommend this book.

There’s a meet-hate with the vice-principal (with a sexy academic look that can’t be ignored, but should be). And that’s the best thing to happen day one…
Everett Reynolds is content juggling his career as vice principal and teacher… and his secret career as an analyst for the EPA. As for a personal life? Well, he’s got his friends. Anything more leads to heartbreak – he knows that from experience. He definitely doesn’t need an entitled (and, yeah, stunning) pop princess pretending to know how to handle his students.
Abigail and Everett don’t like each other. Do they want each other? Beside the point. But circumstances lead to them needing each other. Who knew that Abigail asking him to be Kaia’s fake fiance would only be the tip of the favor iceberg? As they’re thrown together more, they learn that the difference between hate and love is razor-thin. And that secrets – including how they really feel – always come out…

Finders Keepers, Cowboy (Match Made in Montana Series) by Rachelle Paige Campbell – Review by Kerry Baker

Finders Keepers, Cowboy (Match Made in Montana #1)Finders Keepers, Cowboy by Rachelle Paige Campbell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is a lovely Romance story about two old “friends” who manage to set aside their differences and find love. I think the author has created a well written and descriptive story that draws you into what is going on. I thought the story was interesting and it was nice to read a clean Romance, as it isn’t normally my go to book.
I really enjoyed watching the characters discover more about each other, and themselves in the process. And Hank made  a brilliant addition. This is a really great book.

Stop that Lion (Kingdom of Mir Series) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Carrie Reed

Stop That Lion: A Tale of Friendship Love and Peace (Kingdom of Mir)Stop That Lion: A Tale of Friendship Love and Peace by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The King of Mir asks his people to help find a way to keep the lion in the Kingdom of Sher away from their sheep. We journey along watching 2 failed attempts at keeping the Lion out until, a little girl is the one with the plan that works. The King doubts her and her plan and he is pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I love that the little girl, Wynnie is sympathetic to the lion and doesn’t want anything bad to happen to him but, they have to save the sheep in their kingdom.

5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Stop That Lion: A Tale of Friendship Love and Peace is another wonderful story by Lois Wickstrom that is very enjoyable, fun and engaging story and also promotes problem solving and thinking. The illustrations are perfect to bring the story to life. My great nieces and nephew loved this story as much as I did.

The Kingdom of Sher and the Kingdom of Mir are neighbors. The Kingdom of Sher had a smart lion while the Kingdom of Mir had sheep to raise. When the lion would get hungry and eat the sheep within the Kingdom of Mir…how could anyone stop the lion. Will Wynnie, a young girl whom lives within the Kingdom of Sher be able to find the best solution and make everyone happy?

Definitely read and find out.

Hell Hath No Fury (Life is Hell Series) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Hell Hath No Fury (Life is Hell #2)Hell Hath No Fury by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hell Hath No Fury is the second book in the Life Is Hell series. I enjoy the variety of LGBT+ relationships in this series, and the diverse cast of paranormal characters. It’s an action-packed read that’s hard to put down!

Hell Hath No Fury focuses on the relationship between Sheridan and Millicent, who met each other in the first book in the series. It’s early days for them, and Millicent is new to the whole paranormal thing so there are a lot of obstacles for them to overcome. Millicent’s mysterious stalker forces her to come to terms with this new world and accept help from her friends, but also puts a strain on her relationship with Sheridan.

I’m glad that we got to see more of some of the regular characters, like Jezebel! And I loved Millicent in the previous book so I was excited to see her story get more attention.

This book gets five stars from me. I’d recommend the series to readers who are already fans of the author’s work, and those who enjoy varied LGBTQ+ paranormal romances.

Stop that Lion (Kingdom of Mir Series) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Megan Rea

Stop That Lion: A Tale of Friendship Love and Peace (Kingdom of Mir)Stop That Lion: A Tale of Friendship Love and Peace by Lois Wickstrom

This is a really cute story about Wynnie and her solution to stop the lion from the Kingdom of Sher from eating the sheep in the Kingdom of Mir. The King of Mir tasks his citizens with coming up with a solution that is fair and the winner will be the King’s Royal Advisor BUT if the solution doesn’t work, then the King will take their most prized possession. Several others try and fail before Wynnie gives her solution. I love how Wickstrom is always weaving in life lessons for her readers. I also really like the illustrations in this book. They are bright and they follow along with the story well.

Loris Opens Up His Heart (Courage Tales Series) by Dagmara Sitek – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

Loris Opens Up His Heart: An Emotional Story For Kids (Courage Tales)Loris Opens Up His Heart: An Emotional Story For Kids by Dagmara Sitek
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just loved this book!! You don’t read a lot about foster care and over coming many issues that can come with being put through the system. Especially a children’s book! This book had wonderful illustrations, but also a wonderful storyline. It really puts you in the shoes of a little boy who has been through a lot and must overcome a lot at the same time. In this book, Cam and Inaya are training for a charity run. The charity run is to raise money for a friend of theirs’s who is in the hospital needing open heart surgery. As you go along you see these two practice running, handing out fliers, and getting ready for the big run. One day after a run the two go home and meet their new foster brother. Loris keeps to himself. He doesn’t say much, he doesn’t play with the others, and he keeps to himself quite a bit. Cam and Inaya try over and over to get him to join them in stuff but he always says no. One day at school Loris stands up to a bully in their school. All the kids are scared of him, but Loris has been scared of worse. The foster siblings start to bond over things and Loris lets his guard down some. Race day comes and Cam hurts himself during the run. Loris takes over for him and helps with the rest of the race. The event is a huge success and the children bond even more. Such a wonderful book. Teaching great values while learning about courage, kindness, and overcoming many fears that pop up in different ways. I would defiantly recommend this book for children 10 and under, but it’s also a good book to show teens to encourage understanding and help stop bullying in my opinion. I can’t wait to read it with my girls.

Stop that Lion (Kingdom of Mir Series) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Jennifer Crain

Stop That Lion: A Tale of Friendship Love and Peace (Kingdom of Mir)Stop That Lion: A Tale of Friendship Love and Peace by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Stop That Lion” by Lois Wickstrom is a charming and engaging story about solving problems through creativity and collaboration. The premise of the story, with the Kingdom of Sher’s lion causing mischief in the neighboring Kingdom of Mir, is both humorous and relatable.

The characters in the story, particularly Winnie, are endearing and relatable. Winnie’s determination to save her pet sheep, Paley, and her kingdom is admirable, and readers will root for her as she navigates the contest to Stop the Lion. The King’s willingness to listen to Winnie’s idea and give her a chance to solve the problem showcases the importance of listening to diverse perspectives and working together to find solutions.

The message of the story, that fair solutions and teamwork are key to overcoming challenges, is conveyed effectively through the entertaining plot and well-developed characters. The illustrations by Carol Thompson complement the story beautifully, adding depth and visual appeal to the narrative.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While not my first Wickstrom children’s book I enjoyed it as if it was. Lois always manages to captivate children with her tales, and wonderful illustrations, while always managing to teach them something at the same time. In this case, this being the fifth book in the series, Loretta takes us back to her garden to take us full circle in the life of fireflies. We enjoyed this one.

I didn’t realize at the time of starting this novel that many authors came together to write this alluring, steamy, romance novel, and they all did a fantastic job. A love at first sight trope, fae, fantasy, and romance this novel had it all. It was a light, fun read that I’m glad to have read.
