Confess by Colleen Hoover – Review by Colleen Noyes

ConfessConfess by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Confess by Colleen Hoover is an easy four-star read. My heart basically broke from the first chapter for Auburn and all that she had to encounter at such a young age. The way the story weaves the lives of Auburn, Adam, Owen, and the remaining characters was done exceptionally well. I really liked Emory and how feisty and full of spit and vinegar she was.

Watching the tug and pull that Auburn has where each male character is concerned was realistic but also stressful for her as a person. It’s never easy having to decide what is best for the people in your life and what sacrifices you may have to make. The pain that Owen experiences with the nonexistent relationship him and his father has can be understood by anybody with the same demons his dad has.

The character of Trey is just a manipulative, control freak, piece of garbage. I enjoyed seeing how his character arc was resolved. If you enjoy a story with Angst, tearjerker moments, and selflessness where love is concerned than you will enjoy the story as much as I did.

Eye of the Storm (GRAY GHOST SERIES Book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Colleen Noyes

Eye of the Storm (Gray Ghost #2)Eye of the Storm by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 2 in the Gray Ghost series, kept me on the edge of my seat. Chris and Mari are an unlikely pair and the way they are brought together is intriguing. This story has things happening that you never see coming and you don’t know whether to root for Mari, want to smack her, or be hurt for her. I felt their connection and their disconnect which left me tossing and turning while reading. This author always brings it all home and you can count on a great storyline.

Embers on the Wind by Lisa Williamson Rosenberg – Review by Colleen Noyes

Embers on the WindEmbers on the Wind by Lisa Williamson Rosenberg
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Embers on the Wind is a very complex, thought-provoking, novel. It spins back-and-forth over several generations and deals with some sensitive subject matter. It took a little while to get into this book, but about a quarter way through you can really start to put everything together.

The story has multiple characters that are both despicable and likable. You have to pay very close attention in order to keep track of everything that is going on, but you will find yourself understanding more and more as the book progresses.

We read this book as part of our book club and to get the feedback from different individuals and what their thoughts were enhanced my joy of this book even more. This author has a very unique writing style that takes a little getting used to but you can still enjoy everything about the story. At times it was hard to read parts of it and there may be some things that are a trigger for folks. I appreciated that at the end of this book the author already had book club type questions that brought about even more forethought and discussion. This is not a book that I typically read but was pleasantly surprised.

Broken Circle (Gray Ghost, #1)Broken Circle by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Broken Circle by Amy McKinley is an easy four-star read. This book immediately has love, action, murder and Mayham. Liv and Alex seem to be living their best life and being very much in love. When Liv is surprised by a life-changing event she has no idea that it’s about to throw everything she knows and everything she cares about into complete turmoil that will eventually end in lots of bloodshed. I can only imagine how being in love with someone and finding out all these devastating secrets could affect you. As everything that Amy McKinley writes in this genre you will be on the edge of your toes waiting to see what happens next. I really enjoyed how each character is introduced I can’t wait to see where this series goes. If you enjoy an action filled romantic suspense then I recommend grabbing this book.

Last Seen at Lighthouse Lane (An Outer Banks Mystery Book 6) by Sage Parker – Review by Colleen Noyes

Last Seen at Lighthouse Lane (Outer Banks Mystery #6)Last Seen at Lighthouse Lane by Sage Parker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The sixth and final book in the series completes the story just like you would hope. The mystery throughout comes to a very satisfying conclusion and the series as a whole has a happily ever after which I really appreciated. This authors writing style is lighthearted with just the right amount of mystery, thrown in with a little bit of romance, and some family dynamics. I found myself loving each and every character in the book which is very unusual for me. I have never read a series broken up quite like this one and wasn’t sure how I would enjoy it but because of this authors writing style and the effort she puts into making the story flow so well I was surprisingly content.

If you enjoy a clean, mystery series that are all quick reads then you will want to grab these right away. You will not be disappointed and I personally can’t wait to read other books by this author.

Holy wow this fifth book takes the whole series to a new level and it is so far the one that has the most action, the most secrets, and the most mystery. Someone from the past resurfaces and it throws all your thought you knew into chaos. I flew through this one even faster than I did the previous books and it’s because the action never stopped and I couldn’t wait to find out where the story was going. With the return of a main character everything is in upheaval. Now onto the sixth and final book.

The twists and turns throughout the series are getting even more complicated which gives the series a great hook. Laura, Harry, and Greta are still trying to figure out how all the pieces fit, but each time it seems that they have figured out a piece of the puzzle they discover that there’s another piece to figure out. Whether it is coded wording or strange coincidences, the story continues to keep you wanting to find out more and desperately waiting to figure out how it concludes.

Last Seen at Lighthouse Lane (Outer Banks Mystery #2)Last Seen at Lighthouse Lane by Sage Parker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The story picks up where book one left off. The mystery surrounding the kidnapping of Trin has gotten more complex. Laura feels as if there’s more behind the scenes going on and just trying to help solve this mystery while being a source of strength for young Trin. It is even more complicated because Trin is the daughter of her high school friend Harry and she has some underlying feelings for him. For whatever reason Greta seems to be pushing against everything Laura thinks she discovers so it leaves you wondering if there’s some underlying jealousy or issue that Greta has or is she possibly involved? This story also has Laura’s mom in it and you see their relationship start to take a new turn while you are dealing with Laura’s secret involving Scott. Can’t wait to continue the series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Journalist Laura Williams is pulled back to her hometown when her mother takes a fall and needs help.

However one of the conditions from her work is that she will need to write about any story that they ask her to in order to get the time off. Unbeknownst to Laura she’s about to be thrown into a mysterious kidnapping, that will bring up memories from when she was a teenager. This is a very short novella with a lot of action and a well written start to the series. Please note that this does end in a cliffhanger so I recommend buying the series. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

Mystery at the Marina: A Cozy Christian Mystery (Dangerous Curves Book 2) by K.L. Montgomery is the second book in the series. Sunshine Baker is at it again, trying to solve a new mystery. She has found that she enjoys the new found thrill she has discovered. This series is amateur sleuth with a cute cast of characters. I think each character brings something different and unique, which contributes to the overall story telling. I am enjoying this series and look forward to reading more of them. Three More Months by Sarah Echavarre – Review by Colleen Noyes

Three More MonthsThree More Months by Sarah Echavarre
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was my first book by Sarah Echavarre and the amount of emotions I have running through my body are overwhelming. Having recently lost my mom it touched on so many feelings. I found myself laughing, crying, and doing so much thinking. Oddly enough the way this book was written brought a certain level of comfort to me. It reminded me of key things that you don’t always think of when you are grieving a loss. The author did an incredible job of describing all of the parts of grief that you go through. It was very obvious that she has experienced this in her own life.

“ The dread seeps back in slowly, like a trickle of water. It’s like my brain is still so distraught that it doesn’t want to remember losing her. So every time I go to sleep, there’s that fuzzy moment between sleep and awake where I’m blissfully unaware that things have changed for the worse. And then when it does come back to me, when I remember that she’s gone, the grief hits like a kick to the chest. I lose her all over again.”

I felt this above quote every ounce of my body when I read it, it was like she was inside my soul and was feeling the things that I so often feel. When you lose somebody it’s so hard for your brain and your heart to connect and to realize what is true and what is not. I often find myself in this in between place questioning whether I’m in reality or a daze/dream. Then when it all comes rushing back that it actually happened and my mother is gone it’s like reliving the experience all over again which brings a tremendous amount of pain.

Towards the end of my mom‘s life I was the one taking care of her and when I read this portion of the story it brought back some funny memories because my mom and I often had these arguments about what she was eating. It reminded me of what our dynamic was also like during that time. “ I cross my arms, then shake my head in disbelief at how the parent-child dynamic has changed between us. Now I’m the one constantly bargaining to make sure Mom eats all her healthy food.”

Sometimes as we go through life we don’t always realize the effect our thoughts and mind have on everything. Sometimes we are so stunted by our own fear and anxiety that we forget to just let things flow. We want to try and control so much of our life and in doing so we miss out on many things. One of the things that hit hardest for me in the story was the following paragraph which I think the author did a great job of hitting the nail on the head.

“ “As upsetting as it is, we can’t control how long our loved ones are with us. Everyone wishes they could, but it’s just a harsh reality of life. What you can control is how you spend the time you have with them now. The longer you allow your emotions to be controlled by your fear—specifically your fear of losing your mom—the less you’re able to truly enjoy that time you have with her. If you’re always operating with this fear in the back of your mind, it’s going to make it hard for you to be fully present with her whenever you’re spending time together. It makes it harder to enjoy that time you’re spending with her because you’re always worrying about a million what-ifs. You’re always wondering how much time you have left with her instead of appreciating the time you have together now.”

I am often a person that over analyzes things when it comes to family or people I love even though I try desperately to go with the flow. I always want to know if there’s a secret meaning or if there’s something I should be understanding differently or questioning why things happen the way that they do. As part of the grieving process in this book and the things that Chloe goes through her therapist tells her these simple words and I found myself stopping and committing them to memory for the future.

“ Because some things in life don’t have a special meaning. Sometimes they just happen, both good and bad. And you should accept them for what they are instead of trying to search for a meaning that may not be there.”

“ There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that things in your life are going well and enjoying it for the time being. You don’t always have to brace yourself for what’s going to happen next. It’s okay to live in the moment and enjoy things as they happen.”

I found reading this book had an effect on me that I wasn’t looking for or expecting. Since it is a fiction novel and not based on a true story I didn’t think that it would have such a profound effect on me, but in many ways it helped push forward the healing I had already started and I found myself so ingrained and encompassed in this book that I thought somebody had crawled in my brain and was writing about my feelings. This author really helped me in so many ways. The final couple of paragraphs in this review are in depth of what I feel like in the parts that I should be grateful for even though both of my parents are now gone. It’s the part that as the days go on I will continue to remind myself of that while I’m sad and mourning, I should also be grateful and then I need to acknowledge the blessing I had in my life of being close with both of my parents.

“ ‘The pain is great because the love is great.’ I honestly can’t think of a better way to describe my feelings and emotions right now. This pain . . . is immeasurable. It’s the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But in a way, this pain is a privilege to feel. This pain means the love I have for my mom—and the love she had for me and my brother—was deep and all-encompassing and unconditional. It means that I have endless happy memories and moments to recall when I’m sad.”

“ “This pain means the time we shared together was meaningful and priceless. This pain is a reminder of our bond, both emotional and physical. It’s knowing that one hundred percent of her makes up half of me.”

“ “Yes, I’m in pain. I always will be. I know it will get easier to manage over time, but I’ll always have it. I’ll always battle it. It’ll always take my breath away when I remind myself that I don’t have a mom anymore, when I remember that the person I love most in the world—the person who loved me and my brother more than anyone else—is gone forever. This pain will always cut me to the core. That will never go away. And that’s okay. I don’t want it to.”

Thank you to the author for this beautiful work of art that brought me so much peace at a time when I really needed it. I hope that you will pick up this book and read it especially if you’ve ever lost someone you were close to like a parent. I think that just like myself you will find a beautiful enrapture of comfort in the words this author writes. I look forward to reading more from her.

Rivals (Mafia Elite, #7)Rivals by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sadly this is the last book in the series. I have loved the series as a whole so much and the final book did not let me down. Mia Tucci and Nico come together in a rather crazy way, but watching as their story unfolds will leave you excited and satisfied.

All of the usual character are back along with new ones and the secrets uncovered set you up perfectly for the next series this author has revolving around the Verretti crime family.

This authors writing style keeps you on your toes and engaged from page one to the last page. I’m never left hanging or disappointed. You are always guaranteed romance, suspense, and a happy ending. I enjoy how you can tell she does thorough research and writes for the love of it. You always feel like you are reading the people you know and that makes every story connect to me.

10 Minutes Before Sleeping by Tanya R. Taylor – Review by Colleen Noyes

10 Minutes Before Sleeping10 Minutes Before Sleeping by Tanya R. Taylor
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I borrowed this book on kindle unlimited and right from the beginning found it to be a little odd for my liking. I found it quite jumpy, I was uncomfortable with the amount of prejudice portrayed, and I couldn’t understand why somebody would take in a baby left on the doorstep if they were just going to be abusive. I found it unrealistic that because the child was undocumented no neighbors stepped in to help and no one in the government ever figured it out or checked on her, even when she attended a school, which generally requires a birth certificate and many other things.

It is unsettling the relationship that takes place in this book with Eva and Pierre and the other things that transpire within that relationship which honestly is just another example of her being abused. There was nothing romantic about this relationship at all. Add in the fact that a supposed adult man still calls his mother mommy I didn’t find it very believable. There are several time jumps which makes it hard to connect to the story. At one point Eva is 15 1/2 and then the next chapter she is suddenly 18. That’s not even the biggest time jump.

The unbelievable story that she has with Max given his job title and all the other odd things I literally have no idea how this book has so many 4 and 5 stars. I always try to find some positive in a story or the authors writing style but this was impossible. I just found the entire story to unfortunately be bizarre and not what was advertised as emotional and powerful. I’m not giving up though, I am going to give another one of her books a try.

As you can see from other reviews some people really enjoyed this story so it very well could be just a personal experience. I’d recommend giving it a read and determining for yourself what you think.

Steele Resolve: A Hawke Family Story (The Hawke Family Book 6) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Colleen Noyes

Steele Resolve (Hawke Family #6)Steele Resolve by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I can’t believe that this series is over! The Hawke Family has been such a big part of my year of getting back into reading and I will miss them. This is Byron and Steele’s love story and it did not disappoint. When Byron realizes who Steele really is you can feel his struggle between continuing his “betrayal” to the only family he really knows and his unequivocal love for Steele. You feel the pain, the angst, the questioning and so much more that at times it will break your heart. This last book really pulls together so much of the series and you won’t be disappointed to read it. Again, I recommend reading the series in order and I personally can’t wait for the second Hawke generation.

Tainted Saint (A Hawke Family) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Colleen Noyes

Tainted Saint (Hawke Family #5)Tainted Saint by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This quick read is the 5th book in the Hawke series. It was easily read in one sitting and I was excited to read more about the big guy. Saint and Caroline make a good couple and I enjoyed them.

As with all shorter books it’s kind of hard to get to know the characters in depth. For me what was missing was there was hardly any background information about Saint or Caroline and so it felt like it was missing something. I’m used to getting a lot of background information in this series which helps me connect to the characters even more.

The authors writing style is still just as good as it always is and I enjoyed the part about Caroline and her assignment as well as the new avenue that Saint is going into. I enjoyed that it helps us delve a little further into the Luca situation which I assume is going to be wrapped up in the last book. While I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the previous books I still found it very enjoyable and can’t wait to finish out the series.

Building Storm by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Colleen Noyes

Building Storm (Hawke Family #4)Building Storm by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Building Storm is so much about rising from the ashes. It’s about losing everything, being broken, and finding out that when you think you can’t go on there’s a rainbow behind the clouds.

The story brings together two people who are both broken and similar but different in ways. Two people who for all intents and purposes should be running away from feelings. What starts out as just some good old-fashioned banging quickly turns into two people you are rooting for.

What Storm has already had to endure coupled with what else she ends up enduring throughout the story will break your heart, but also let you in to see just how much inner strength this woman has no matter what storms are engulfing her life.

Landon is a man clearly dealing with his own troubled past and storms. He somehow is able to use that to help Storm in ways she doesn’t realize. In the process I think he finds some of his own healing that maybe he didn’t realize he needed and deserved.

As with any good romantic suspense story, the secrets are bound to come out and you better hold on to your seat for the crying, the shock, and the pure holy heck moments,

Bringing other characters to the forefront like Saint and Byron make the story even more enticing. As always I love that this author brings all of the Hawke family in. While reading this series the only thing I would love to maybe see is a prequel that gives us much more background to Antonia and the origins of the Hawke family. Just as in book 3 this story has so much more storytelling than books one and two it’s exciting to see the incredible growth of this author from book one to this book and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. I highly recommend reading the series in order to get the most fulfillment out of your reading pleasure.

Stone Sober (A Hawke Family Book 3) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Colleen Noyes

Stone Sober (Hawke Family #3)Stone Sober by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stone Sober by Gwyn McNamee is the third book in the Hawke series and by far my favorite. The story has so much suspense, action, and storyline that brings all of the previous books together. There is romance, steamy sex scenes, and tearjerker moments.

This book feels like it has more storytelling than any of the previous books and it makes it highly incredible. I could not put this book down from start to finish and had to read it in one sitting because it was that amazing. You will fall in love with both Stone and Nora as individuals but also will grasp what makes them them. They both have been running from big secrets for a long time and those come to a head but nothing will prepare you for the biggest secret of all. I highly recommend that you read the entire series starting with book one to enhance your reading pleasure.

Tortured Skye (A Hawke Family Novel Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Colleen Noyes

Tortured Skye (Hawke Family #2)Tortured Skye by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 2 in the Hawke family series picks up where book one left off. I originally read Savage Collision in 2017 and then never found the time to read past that book. I just reread book one and immediately had to go onto book 2.

How can you ever think it is a good idea to get involved with your brothers best friend? But that is exactly what Skye does. Feeling a pull towards Gabe Anderson should never of been part of her life. However you immediately feel the connection these two have and what they have been fighting off for years. One simple kiss and it throws their entire lives into complete chaos.

Enduring what Skye has can simply not be easy. I can only imagine what a sudden loss like she has experienced feels like especially given who the loss was. In Gabe‘s case he too has suffered incredible loss but in a different way. We find these two pulling towards each other and I think that the type of losses they both have experienced is what makes them magnetic to each other. I felt like they had a kindred spirit because what each of them have endured, the pain, the loss, hurt, the struggle and most of all I think they both encounter a sense of not feeling like they belong because of missing people or emotions.

Throw into the mix an over protective, control freak older brother who is also the best friend of the man you’re falling for and your emotions will be all over the place. There is some suspense in this book just as there is in book one which I enjoyed. This author does a great job of being very detail oriented, very specific, and setting up the foundation/background of each character so that you know where they’re coming from and why they are the way they are. She also did a good job of bringing in characters from book one and so you kind of get to see a little bit of a continuation of those characters that you first fell in love with.

If you enjoy a story with well developed characters, hot sex scenes, a little suspense, and an intense romance than this is the book for you. I highly recommend reading the series in order though to gain the most out of the storytelling.

Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover – Review by Colleen Noyes

Reminders of HimReminders of Him by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first Colleen Hoover book (I know I know I know). 10% in an I am already bawling, tears streaming down my face like I am Kenna and can feel everything she is going through, the self torture, the pain, the struggle, the fear. This book already has me by the eyeballs and I can’t put it down.

I can not with Kenna’s mother. All of the history that Kenna describes breaks my heart. As a parent how could you ever be like that with your child? A part of you?

Like Kenna and Ledger in this story I am so torn. I can feel every single thing, I found myself crying and not realizing I was crying. I found myself holding my breath, waiting on pins and needles, I found myself shaking my head and my heart filling with so much pain, empathy, and frustration for what they must be going through. Each of them.

This book deals with love, heartache, betrayal, grief in more ways than one, regret, and so much more. I could not put it down and by the end it left me way beyond spent. I can not wait to devour all of Colleen Hoover’s Books. If you love a good tear jerker book, with heartache and romance then grab this asap.

Amos: A clean and wholesome contemporary cowboy romance (The Brothers of Creekside Ranch Book 2) by Edith Mackenzie – Review by Colleen Noyes

AmosAmos by Edith Mackenzie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love A good hot cowboy story and Amos definitely fits the bill. The author does a great job of introducing Olivia to the series and the connection that you see forming between Olivia and Mrs. Applebottom really brings some depth to the story. I enjoy that the author brought back Mrs. Applebottom and that this author has all characters from the first book playing equal part in this story even though it is about Amos. So often an author just takes characters and shift them to the back burner instead of letting them be an Integral part of every story.

The camaraderie between Olivia and Bella is sweet and I really like the fact that there’s no cattiness just two grown women enjoying each other‘s company and slowly becoming friends.

I find it beyond amusing how Bella has overtaken the house and the men. I love how much they’ve grown to respect her, become afraid of her, and have excepted her fully into their home and family.

This series feels like coming home to a little cabin with the fire going, blankets around your shoulders, Hot chocolate in cups, and being surrounded by the people you love most in this world. It has that type of cozy, warm feel to it that you just want to enrapture yourself with.

Just like with Levi, this story has some action and suspense. It was a great twist to see how far one character falls. I hope that at some point we get a little more background into each of the ladies pasts as I don’t feel there was enough history given, but Edith MacKenzie is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Don’t miss out on this series especially if you like cowboys, strong women, and a clean wholesome romance.

Witch Charm (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #4)Witch Charm by Sonia Parin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Witch Charm is the fourth book in the MacKenzie coven mystery series by Sonia Parin. I enjoyed this book as I did the previous ones, but I just feel like something is missing I can’t quite put my finger on. I’m enjoying all of the banter between Lexie, Luna, Jonathan, Octavia, Mirabelle, and Catherine but I just feel like there’s some thing that could take this series over the edge and make it that much better. The author does a great job of writing and there were only minor grammatical errors. I found plenty of humor but not quite as much “mystery as I’m looking for. I will continue to read the series however and see where it goes from here.

Levi (The Brothers of Creekside Ranch Book 1) by Edith Mackenzie Review by Colleen Noyes

LeviLevi by Edith Mackenzie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story had everything my heart needed. I absolutely loved how rugged, tense, and hard Levi was and loved even more the other side you got to see of him. This author did a brilliant job of showing you just a hint of PTSD. She kept it light but it was also so powerful that it had tears streaming down my face.

Bella comes off as a rich, posh, snobby woman who you soon learn is good at living with a façade. Her interactions with Allie will melt your heart and give you a glimpse of who she really is.

Elijah and Amos add to the fun. I fully enjoyed watching the three brothers interaction and could see how it related to so many other sibling relationships. I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit which just made this book even more enjoyable.

This book had so much romance in all the right places as well as action and suspense. The author did a brilliant job of writing a clean romance book with a suspense twist. The story I would classify as both a cowboy/western clean romance and a clean romantic suspense story. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and I was not let down by my first Edith Mackenzie book that I’ve ever read. This author reminds me a lot of Bernadette Marie and Jill Sanders which is saying a lot. I highly recommend that you run out and pick up this book as you will not be disappointed at all.

Holy YES PLEASE! I got this book early as part of the Kindle first program. It is set in Nashville, Tennessee one of my favorite places. Right from the beginning you can sense the mystery, suspense, and secrets. This book had me hooked from page one and never let go. The character of Finley is a very complex character that I appreciate tremendously. There are so many facets to her you’re not sure what is what or who she really is until you dive deeper into the story.

This story has many layers of suspense not just on the case Finley and Jack are working, but with Finley, her past, and her husband. The intrigue as you turn each page grows and you find yourself on the edge of your seat unable to stop turning pages.

The last chapter of this book was so amazing with more twists and turns than you ever saw coming. I cannot wait to see what happens or what is discovered regarding Finley and Derrick. This was my first book by Debra Webb and now I must go buy more!

Witch Indeed (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #2) by Sonia Parin – Review by Colleen Noyes

Witch Indeed (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #2)Witch Indeed by Sonia Parin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Lol Witch Indeed is the second book in the series and picks up where Witch Inheritance left off. Lexie has a new companion as you would expect, a cat named Luna. Reading the shenanigans that these two encounter and the extent of their back-and-forth spirited rivalry will make you laugh out loud and have a smile on your face the entire time. Lexie is slowly discovering what it means to be a witch and learning new parts of it. She still hasn’t embraced it fully, but that doesn’t stop her from diving in head first. I enjoyed the addition of Luna and seeing how she added to the plot. It was nice to get a glimpse of Morg (Lexie’s mom) and I have a feeling there is a lot of history there that will come in future books. This story had humor, Witchery, and some mystery. I like the concept of the books, but am hoping that the mystery aspect gets a little bigger role. I feel like each story is missing that suspense/cozy mystery hook I was expecting. Overall, it’s a great series so far that I plan to continue to read.

Witch Inheritance (Mackenzie Coven Mystery Book 1) by Sonia Parin – Review by Colleen Noyes

Witch Inheritance (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #1)Witch Inheritance by Sonia Parin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Witch Inheritance was my first book by Sonia Parin. Poor Lexie has been trying to stay away from the “family business” but when she is suddenly left with no choice, this book takes you on a journey through a cozy little mystery. This book has mystery, secrets, and some great humor. It’s a very light read that you can easily enjoy on a Sunday afternoon. The authors writing style is one I enjoyed and I look forward to seeing what else the series has to offer. I would’ve preferred a little more backstory on each of the characters since this is the first in the series but I’m hoping as we get into the next book will see that. If you enjoy humor and cozy mysteries you will love this.

Bound by Grace by Carsen Lane – Review by Colleen Noyes

Bound by Grace (Grace Series, #0.5)Bound by Grace by Carsen Lane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bound by grace is the prequel to Caging Grace by Carsen Lane. This is a small novella that can be read in a quick sitting. It sets up the beginning of Graces’ story by showing the love that Liam and Aggie had. You are given a lot of backstory for each main character and it gives a little more insight to what you will read in Caging Grace. I love the introduction to Liam, Aggie, Carl, and Mason. The only downside is I wish it was a full novel so we really got even more of Liam and Aggie but that’s just my selfishness lol. You can easily read Caging Grace without reading this one but why would you:)
