Well I thought this book was a great book for the kiddos. I’m a nanny for 3 different families. I care for a 1 and 2 year old, a 2 year old and a 4 and 7 year old. I have read this book to all of them. Actually the 7 year old reads it to his little sister. Al the kids really enjoyed it. The pictures are colorful. What toddler doesn’t love a rainbow or a mermaid? Actually one of the little girls have sat with me and heard the book so many times she finishes each sentence for me. Great book. And the kids love it!

I am a big fan of children’s books that teach as they read. This author wrote an entertaining treat for the kids to learn as they read. Trezzie the mermaid and Maia each taught other and Fig lessons about water/air science and rainbows. The illustrations are bright and attention grabbing. The story, whether read by a parent or on their own, is written in such a way that the child may ask the parent if they can try that. This is a fun book for kids and families alike. I highly recommend it. I will be adding it to our library.

This is a great children’s book that I enjoyed. It is full of pictures that made the story interactive and made the characters pop. This is a story about a group of children who perform science tricks from treasures that come from a mermaid’s secret box. As the story goes, the children perform many different tricks that will keep any child engaged reading this book. I enjoyed the pictures and how colorful they were. This is a great story and any child would enjoy it. I highly recommend this book.

Me and my son read this book together. He though at frist we were reading the Little mermaid however when we got into the science prt he enjoyed the book more. It’s a very interesting way to incorpate science into young minds. A great way to get them doing Stem projects we followed the book and done some of the experiment as part of home education.

Trezzie, Maia, and Fig swap science tricks using treasures from the mermaid’s secret box. Best of all, they make a rainbow with a mirror, a piece of paper, and a glass of water. Trezzie is Maia’s imaginary playmate. Fig is her human friend. Together, they make a great team.
Lois is a former high school chemistry teacher and former head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp in Philadelphia. She has also been an adjunct science teacher at the University of South Florida. Since retiring, she continues to take science classes. Her class in Forensic Biology led to Little Red, The Detective, in which Red is studying fingerprint identification, so she can tell that “Grandma” isn’t who she says she is.
Lois has taken so many science classes that she believes science is the solution to almost every problem, including the dilemmas in fairy tales. She has invented what she calls Science Folktales. In each science-based tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending than the original because of learning scientific principles. She has turned some of these tales into plays for children.
She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.
Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children and four grandchildren, and a dog. She gardens, rides her bike, and tries to save the planet.
