Cooked: The Chef Blows Her Lid by Cari Schaeffer. I loved this book. It was so good and you could really see being friends with the main character in this book. Its the story of up and coming Chef Olivia who has just found out her husband is cheating on her with her best friend. She has also just lost her longest job she’s had in a kitchen as a chef because she is a woman. Olivia feels like her life is falling apart so what do you do when your life falls apart? You start over and jump right in. She decides to open her own restaurant. Along with her soon to be ex, her ex best friend and her mom who is getting older and is very demanding Olivia thinks she can make it all work out. With the help of true friends and some hard work Olivia might just make it after all. Loved this sweet story!

The struggle of finding or rebuilding oneself is never an easy one. When you find yourself having to live up to others’ expectations or get past their disappointment, it can be even more difficult. This is where Chad finds himself. Trying to live up to one view, live down another, while not really knowing who he is. As Chad struggles, he does something for himself, he starts MMA fighting.

Chad finds the boxing trainer he wants and convinces him to come out of retirement to train Chad. It just so happens that the trainer’s daughter, Kendall, is a sports reporter for the local paper. Upon meeting Kendall, Chad has a strong attraction that he doesn’t want to fight but knows he needs to because of who Kendall is.

The energy and chemistry between Chad and Kendall is felt through the pages. I don’t know if the author captured the boxing correctly, but she definitely nailed all the feels that go along with this one. Fantastic story.
