It’s Cool To Be Kind by Shermaine Perry-Knights – Review by Rita White

It's Cool To Be Kind: A Children's Book on Kindness and FriendshipIt’s Cool To Be Kind: A Children’s Book on Kindness and Friendship by Shermaine Perry-Knights

It’s Cool To Be Kind is a book aimed at 7 to 9 year olds, but this book could be for any age. Teaching kindness starts at a very young age, and kids at any age should know that being kind will always work out best for you. It doesn’t have to be major acts of kindness it could just be opening a door for someone. The illustrations are phenomenal, and the message is great. I love that there are little activities or examples at the back of the book.

Hi Little Brother, I Love You: A Sweet Gift Keepsake Book Welcoming a New Baby Brother to the Family.Hi Little Brother, I Love You: A Sweet Gift Keepsake Book Welcoming a New Baby Brother to the Family. by Deniese Dennis

There is something special about a big brother. This big brother assures his baby brother that he will always be there for him. He tells him all the ways he will play with him and teach him as he gets older and lets him know that no matter what, he will be by his side. It is such a sweet way of love and protection.

The Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Rita White

What a great short book! This is an M/M paranormal book with vampires, werewolves, witches, mates, &purgatory, and more. This author can pack a big punch in a short story and is becoming one of my go-to authors to read. I hope this is not the end of this story because we can have and want so much more. I just loved this book!

A Pig and a Poke by Tricia Gardella – Review by Rita White

The illustrations in this book are beautiful, bold, and very eye-catching. Angela and her small town are having a pig catching contest, and she is very determined to win this pig, but standing in her way is a bully by the name of Bruce. Her perseverance and determination get her the pig, but with it comes getting muddy and bruised. All the kids had fun, but many got tired and gave up giving Angela a better chance. Cute story!

Luca Magoo, Don’t Eat The Glue (Luca Magoo Series) by Megan Delgado – Review by Rita White

Such a cute little book for young kids!. My granddaughter (4) thought it was the funniest thing ever. She laughed at the rhyming and the hilarious pictures. Luca Magoo was definitely all boy and in to mischievous ways with the glue. The illustrations were colorful and bright and bought so much more dun to the story. Great story and great lesson for young curious minds.

Fate, Frankincense & Funerals by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Rita White

Another fantastic read from this author!! This is a short stand alone book, but I’m hoping she will continue on with this story and these characters. There are so many more ways to extend these characters, their beliefs, their way of life, and a lot of the ways and why’s of the different characters. This is an M/M romance that’s paranormal with werewolves and shifters and so much more. I found myself wanting to know more about the different rituals surrounding this book. So, so good!!

Midnight Falls by John Evans – Review by Rita White

What a great time of the year to read this book. Midnight Falls is about werewolves, shifters, monsters, suspense, survival, evil, and a good all-around horror book. It kind of gives off the old 1980s horror vibe. The author has a descriptive way of telling the story that keeps you engaged throughout the whole book and takes you on a wild ride. I liked all of the characters, but I think my favorite character was Josh’s dog Nimrod.

The Places We Call Home by Kim Ann – Review by Rita White

Such a cute little story I read to my granddaughter at bedtime. It shows all the different places you can call home and that everyone lives in different places, but it teaches us that home is wherever you may live, but it’s always where your family is. The illustrations are bright and colorful and add so much to the little story.

Decisions Matter (Buddy the Blue Corgi Series) by Suzanna Lynn – Review by Rita White

Buddy, the Corgi is back again! He is in his new home with his new family. In this book, we learn about getting in trouble and telling the truth even when it looks like you are the one doing great the wrong and we also learn about not lying. Another great read for my granddaughter.

Driving into the Night by Amanda Kay – Review by Rita White

This was a roller-coaster of a ride. It’s a short and fast read told from the two main characters POV. Even though it was a short read, I found myself struggling through parts of it. Nothing in particular, I would just kind of lose interest. I’m glad I finished the book because it ended well. There were just parts that I felt could have used a little more explanation. I think if the book was just a little longer, it would have given it that little bit of edge to make it an excellent read. Overall, a solid 3.6 read.

Good Things Take Time (Buddy the Blue Corgi Series) by Suzanna Lynn – Review by Rita White

This is the second book I have read to my granddaughter about Buddy the corgi. This little book talks about being adopted and having patience for your time. Such a great message. The illustrations and colors in this book are as fantastic as the 1st book. We can’t wait to read more of these books!

You Are Special (Buddy the Blue Corgi Series) by Suzanna Lynn – Review by Rita White

Buddy is a blue corgi who is different because he is blue. He gets upset about being different but is taught by his mother that it’s ok to be different. It is such a great lesson for little ones! Although this book is about Buddy, the lessons can and should be learned by everyone. The illustrations are fantastic. The colors are bright and bold and very eye-catching.

Corpse Pixie by Sinister Styx – Review by Rita White

It’s such a great, fast-paced, fantastic short read. This book is short but reads like a full novel. So much is going on with nothing missing. You have pixies, hunters, shifters, witches, and laments. You have mystery, killings, betrayal, magic, and crime.
I loved Belladonna and Rene. I can’t wait to see how this plays out and learn more about the other main characters. Another win!

Andrew’s Armor by Jill Monaco – Review by Rita White

Andrew’s Armor is a cute little book that teaches about the Armor of God. The illustrations are fantastic, making the book very colorful and eye-catching.
Andrew has had a chest for his toys his whole life. As he grows, the toys change, and he learns some valuable, wholesome lessons through little notes left for him. This is a great little book for young boys.

Back in the Ring (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Rita White

This is book 4 of The Predator Series. The books just keep getting better and better!
This installment is about Noah and Bijou. Both of these characters have had horrific losses with their spouses and both have a child.
Noah moves to the little town and starts a repair business and Bijou runs a rec center that is falling apart. The sparks start when they first lay eyes on each other but both are loyal to their deceased spouses. This is a second chance romance that is brilliant. The characters are fantastic and relatable. This book deserves a 4.8!

Where’s Gramma? by Tricia Gardella – Review by Rita White

This is such a great story with the majority of it being pictures so the adult can elaborate on the story as they see fit. The illustrations are fantastic and colorful. Great book for children 3 to 7.

G is for Gossamer: A Children’s SMART & SOPHISTICATED ABC’s Book by Miss Whitaker – Review by Rita White

This is the most beautiful book I have ever seen! The pictures are exquisite and so alive with color and detail. The definitions are at the back of the book for each picture, which is pretty cool. It is for ages toddler to 7 seven and would be a fantastic keepsake book for a baby gift or a grandchild.

Wildfire Knockout (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Rita White

What a great novella! This is book 3 of The Predator Series, and we get to learn about Beth and her background and Scott. It takes them a while to get it together, but they finally admit that they are meant to be together. Can’t get much better than this!

The Veil (The Veil Realms Series Book One) by Karli Rush – Review by Rita White

What a fantastic book! This rating is more like a 4.7. I can not wait for the next one. This is the first time reading this author and will not be the last. This book takes us from a normal life to it being taken completely away in the blink of an eye. An earthquake opens up another world of aliens and other unworldly beasts. Life as Selene and Rayden is forever changed. We then get Sirius, and I can’t wait to read about him and his world. Fantastic read!

Word Play by Tricia Gardella – Review by Rita White

Another great book by this author. Word Play is about Joe wanting to learn to read and about impatience. Cute little book and the illustrations are fantastic!

Glass Houses by Sinister Styx – Review by Rita White

Well, Sinister Styx sure knows how to pack a lot of fantastic writing in a few short pages! This novella is short, fast-paced, and that twist at the end! Whew! For this to be such a short novella, there are no details unanswered. I surely was not expecting the end. Pick this book up!

The Predator Part Two (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Rita White

What a great part two to an already fabulous book! Katie and Chamberlain are back, and the love and steam are just as good, if not better, in this book. Beth and Scott are fussing and fighting throughout the book as Beth tries to figure out who she is and where she wants her life to go. We get to meet Marissa, who is a sweet and lovely little girl who steals everyone’s heart, and of course, we see Fiona again. Grab a copy of this book and see the love and spice everyone dreams of having for themselves.

No One Could See the Flea by Tricia Gardella – Review by Rita White

Poor Shank! Shank is a Jack’s dog, and he scratched, and they assumed he had a flea. After all his friends came up with remedies, poor Shank had had enough! This is an adorable book for ages 3-8. The illustrations are remarkable!

“Absurd,” Said Bird : A Fun Children’s Adventure About a Mouse Who Dreams of Travel (Mouse Traveler) by Tricia Gardella – Review by Rita White

What a neat little book. This book is for ages 3-8. The illustrations are remarkable, and the rhythming is as cute as can be. This book is based on farm animals and can teach little ones to share and help each other out with projects.

The End Of Try Try Again by Kristen Carter, MS – Review by Rita White

If you are like me, you have tried countless diets and paid a pretty penny. I don’t know what I thought I would gain by reading this book, but boy, am I glad I did! The main thing is to change 1 habit at a time and consistency. I learned a lot of the science behind weight gain and weight loss in words that I could understand. If you are tired of the yoyo diets and really want to change your lifestyle, give this book a read.

The Ghastly Gumball by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Rita White

How stinking cute of a book!! It was fast paced and a quick read. It was fun, crazy and chaotic and had me laughing throughout the whole book because of the ridiculousness of it. Pure fun! Oh and it has a cigar smoking octopus named Clyde….. This is a short novella of paranormal romance (m/m) with a bit of magic and pure chaos. I haven’t laughed at a book in a long time and I so enjoyed my time reading this book! I am giving this book 5+ stars just because of how it made me laugh and forget about everyday life. Good stuff!

Spirit Guide (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 3) by Byrd Nash – Review by Rita White

This is the third book in this series, and I highly suggest you read book 1 and 2 first as the character development tells a lot throughout them. As I have read this series, it has reminded me of reading the Nancy Drew books as a child. Each book is connected, but with its own story.
Elinor takes on an apprentice who is inexperienced in this book, and of course, we have Tristan the Duke de Archambeau with us as well. I love how Elinor and Tristan work well with each other except when Elinor doesn’t listen to Tristan. That brings a funny side to the story. The mystery to this book was a bit darker than the other 2 books, but overall, it was still a great read.

The Book of Fears: A Collection of Short Stories by K. S. Gantt – Review by Rita White

The Book of Fears: A Collection of Short Stories is 8 stories compiled of different people with different fears. Check your trigger warnings! A couple of stories are scary, and the others are downright creepy. Each story is short but really good by itself. I would definitely read each individual book if they ever became their own book. Definitely worth checking out.

Toasted (Love Burns Series Book 1) by Isobel Reed – Review by Rita White

What a great first in the series! This is my first book by this author, and I am really impressed. I love how the author came up with the name of this book. Libby almost burned her house down the first day of being there by her toaster. The fire department shows up, and Zach, a fireman, gets her out of the house, and this is when it starts. The chemistry is definitely there, and Zach is in love from the beginning, but Libby has a lot of emotional baggage from her life with her mother and her many men. Libby doesn’t trust love and is totally scared of it. This book has just enough spice, but boy, could the author really spice this one up if she wanted to. I rate this book as a 4.7, but that’s not an option on this platform. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Vague Directions: Into the Woods by Debra Parmley – Review by Rita White

Vague Directions is an urban fantasy set in medieval times. Heather is the MFC, and Rylan is the MMC. Heather finally agrees to go with her friend to the medieval reenactment for the weekend. There is angst, scary situations, fear, confusion, rats, ratmen, owls, holes opening in the ground, and peppermint. There is a lot going on in this book, but the author tells it in such a way that it all flows perfectly.
