CADE (DEFAULT DISTRACTION #3) by A. S. Roberts – Review by Alexandria Richard

Cade (Default Distraction #3)Cade by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A second chance, rockstar, enemies-to-lovers, best friend’s sister forbidden romance, with a mafia tie-in….whew.

This novel seems to have all the romance tropes in it and while it’s a lot to consider in one book, I found it actually worked fairly well. The one aspect I didn’t feel was played out well was the BDSM/ Dom/sub aspect of it. I felt like it tried to set up that relationship but failed to fully deliver.

I did like Cade and Winter’s dynamic overall, with the push and pull. Winter has their past to consider and Cade is determining if he’s finally able to put the playboy rockstar persona behind him and commit to one person. I love how Winter is the depiction of a strong woman, what with overcoming life challenges and being tested in various ways while making a name for herself with the opening of the hotel. I also enjoy the banter that Cade and Winter have and how it can be hard at times it’s leading to each of them opening up to the other and building that foundation for more, and better communication.

Side note: what is it with romance novels and a huge fight occurring between the main protagonists all because of lack of communication?! -Maybe I need to step away from reading romance for a bit y’all.

Even though I enjoyed the book, I’m only able to give it a 4.25. There was something that prevented me from loving this book, though I couldn’t tell you what that is.

This book is book 3 of 4 in the series and does overlap in timeframe to book 4 (the only other one of the series I’ve read so far). We see a little bit of the other band members and them building on the relationship with their chosen lady, so there’s Easter eggs and semi spoilers about the other books, but I found it was enough to whet the appetite for the other books rather than ruin the other couple’s storyline. I’ll be searching out books 1 and 2 for sure!

Content warning: sexual training, BDSM aspects.

This is the second book I’ve read by the author. Luke is another amazing book. So far the Default Distraction Series is amazing. I will be on the lookout for more.

Luke has had it hard his entire life. In comes Nikki and she changes everything. Luke is nostalgic and thinks of someone from the past. The quote I chose for Luke is: “She could have had it with us.”

Nikki is one of the few who get to get close to members of Default Distraction. When she catches Luke’s eye things change. The quote I chose for Nikki is: “Would it work if I said I wasn’t hungry?”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

Cade (Default Distraction Book 3) by A.S. Roberts

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Cade is a good book and I can’t wait for the other books. The author did an amazing job and I’m looking forward to the other books.

Winter is a manager from her brother’s band. She has caught the eye of one of the band members. She can’t let herself fall for him or things will go bad. The quote I chose for Winter is: “Don’t flatter yourself, you wouldn’t have the skills to satisfy a woman like me.”

Cade is a cocky one and he knows it. He likes Winter, but doesn’t want to lose his bad boy status. When things change between them they change all the way around. The quote I chose for Cade is: “I didn’t know you had a stutter, Winter. I could train you not to have one…In fact, I think there are many ways I could help you.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind in her writing. This is the fourth book of the very addictive Default Distraction series. This book can be read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not stop until the end and I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

Luke was given up by both parents. He was raised in an orphanage by the only father figure he knew. Luke is now a single dad and band member to a very well known group. He wants his daughter to have the best life that he didn’t have. Luke is starting a tour and he needs a nanny to help out. He is shocked to find out that his new nanny is the girl he saw one day and he can’t stop thinking about it. Luke knows he is not good at relationships but there’s something about her he can’t get over. Will Luke be able to find love or will it slip through his hands once again?

I truly enjoyed the story of Cade and Winter. Cade was the alpha bad boy who loves hard and Winter being the shy one with a trauma love past. But they both have a deep connection that they can’t deny. There love story was raw and heartwarming. I haven’t read the other books in the series but I’m looking forward to seeing the other brothers stories.

A.S Robert’s does a good job of bringing you into this Rockstar romance novel. This is book 4 in the series but I think you could read this as a stand alone as well. The author really draws you in this story and you can’t help but really feel for Luke and his past. I honestly had to have a box of tissues next to me for some chapters. Roberts does an amazing job paying attention to details in the story and really makes Nikki and Luke come to life!

Book 4 in a 4 part series. I have also read book 3 these two seem to be written in roughly the same time period but focused on a different couple, so there are eastereggs from and about the other book(s).

In this book we get to read about Luke and his adorable daughter, Brielle aka Brie, and how they are both looking for a fun loving nanny to join them. I love how much of an adoring father Luke is. While he is still a rocker at heart, he has put his daughter first and focuses on her needs. He knows what it is like to have no parental figure as he was abandoned as a baby. Of course being a good dad, Luke asks what Brie wants in a nanny and she states she wants someone fun, pretty, and who can dance.

Enter Nikki, a specially trained nanny who is looking for a new placement, and who is a HUGE Default Distraction fan, specifically Luke’s.
I love that Nikki is not the stereotypical nanny. She has a few tattoo’s, is on the younger side, and has her tongue pierced. She’s also a trained ballet dancer, which Brie loves. While I really enjoy Nikki personally, I love her family, and how big her/their heart is for others. I also appreciate that we have a character with a major disability that is not talked about in passing, or that is just brushed aside.

The romance that builds between Luke and Nikki feels organic and well thought out. It is not rushed, and in fact there’s many instances that had me laughing out loud at the antics of the characters. I love how the band members are all also rooting for one another to find happiness instead of whining and complaining about it, which seems to be popular among musician romance books.

Having read book 3 and 4, I certainly need to go back and read 1 and 2 because I have questions, darn it! But I would also love to see more of Brielle and Flint in future books or novellas to see where they end up. Ah, the life of a rockstar child.

Moving to a new country with his daughter, rockstar Luke, is trying to do right by his little girl. But his attraction to the nanny could spell trouble.

Nikki has had her eye on Luke for some time and she is living with him as his daughters nanny. When there’s a possibility that he might felt the same, will she risk her job?

I have not read any of the previous novels but I really enjoyed this. I don’t read rockstar novels often but I’m glad I picked this up.

It was a quick read, with great lovable characters but I could not put it down.

Nikki’s personality I just loved and Luke talking about his past just broke my heart.

I plan on reading the other books in the series to know more about the characters and their stories.

A wonderfully dark, emotional, heart felt HEA! Every character is so detailed you feel like they are your friends. The author makes you care so much for everyone of her characters.
Cade and Winter both have reasons to fight their mounting attraction but will they realize that their love can heal all? The chemistry between these two is instant and is very spicy.
This epic continuation of the DD series is well worth the read and will keep you entertained until the last page!

Cade has had his demons which he hopefully has worked hard to put behind him, but Winter is his one challenge that he has always been attracted to but she has always hated him. The only problem is Winter is one of his best friends and bandmates sister.

Winter has loved Cade for what seems forever, but after the one encounter when she was young and he dismissed her and she felt like show was just a notch in his bedpost but now when she needs this job more than anything can she put all her heartbreak behind her.

But as they both open their heart to each other can the secrets they both hide break them or make them?

OMG I loved this story, why have I not read anything by this wonderful author before. This is the third book in this series and to be fair the story flows and this can be read as a stand alone book, the story is well written and brings all the insecurities and flaws of both characters which just makes you love them even more and want to get past the history and embrace the present and future.

I got that involved within the main characters and the secondary characters I had to read the other books in this series and loved them just as much as these two. Thank you for allowing us to the world of Default Distraction and can’t wait to read more.

This was a great book with a very compelling story line. The final story in the series really captured my heart and my attention. This is a page turner and I was unable to put it down until I read every last word. While it belongs to a series (a pretty great series too) it can be read as a stand alone.
Luke and Nikki are from different families with a lot of the same flaws. Their backgrounds make them cautious to let their hearts fall for each other. Luke has a four year old daughter, Brie and he needs a nanny for her. Nikki has had a major teenage crush on Luke forever as he is in her favorite band. She interviews for the nanny position and gets it. Their attraction is instant but can they let the past hurts go and allow love to heal them? Definitely worth the read!! Just grab some tissues as you will need them, this book is full of emotions.

Luke (Default Distraction #4)Luke by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Luke was a foundling, left on the church steps so from an early age he wanted more, so when he met the three other brothers his life changed. That’s when he met who he thought was the love of his life but with drugs and alcohol they could not be enough for each other and then when he became a father and then lost his wife , could he live again or just survive.

Nikki has lived her life trying to help her family as the oldest daughter to a single parent she has always had responsibilities, but when her job as a nanny for a mega music producer hits the rocks she feels she is letting her family down, but when I chance meeting and a advert in the local village message board has her head in a spin not only is he handsome and his daughter a cutie but he is her teenage dream. Can she be professional enough to just be a nanny or will she give love a chance and jump straight in.

I can’t believe this is the last book in the series as I feel I am so invested into this family group that I want to know what’s happens after, does Brie grow up to be a dancer, Does Flint do what his heart wants to do. Do they all live in UK and live happily please tell me.

I loved the characters of Nikki she was full of Sass and as we say spit and vinegar, I loved that she was not intimidated by the Rockstar in Luke, I loved that you got to see the other side to him the vulnerable child still in him and him evaluating his life before Nikki.

The story flowed brilliantly and the characters were well developed and written, I loved this whole series with the same timeline but to peak into each of their lives and see how the whole dramas play out was brilliantly. I would recommend this series as a great emotional read and that you are pulled so far into these characters lives you feel like you are living each moment with them.

Thank you for such a great series and can’t wait to read more books by this author.

I thought this book was a great read. Luke is in a band with a few other men who are like family to him. Luke is going thru some stuff and he can’t help all these feelings he has. He is a widow but, he’s not alone. He has his beautiful daughter he needs to care for and love.

Nikki is a nanny who is going thru some stuff Also. Everyone has a past but, not everyone can’t leave that stuff behind and start fresh.
I thought this book was perfectly written. There was a lot of info the author gave the reader so nothing was left to questions. I loved the characters and I love how this book came together. Definitely a 5 star read for me.

LUKE (DEFAULT DISTRACTION #4) by A. S. Roberts. This is such a good series and I fall in love with each main character. In this book I fell in love with Luke who is in the band Default Distraction and who’s life is his little girl. Luke has made a lot of mistakes in the past and he feels like his troubles now are caused from those mistakes. When he decides to start over and in doing so he hires a nanny to help with his daughter. Luke is has decided he is going to concentrate on his band and daughter and that’s it. When he hires Nikki to be his nanny sparks fly immediately but they both are fighting it. Nikki is having the best time getting to know Brielle and Luke and they have formed a sort of family. Nikki has been fighting her attraction to Luke even though she feels that he feels the same. Will they risk their hearts on each other and try to be a real family. Read Luke to find out!

“Our mistakes and failures don’t define us; they don’t hold us back. It’s our own fears and regrets that do that.” This quote, along with a few others from this amazing love story really hit home. I have to say, this one just about sums up how I’ve been feeling as of late, and the way it’s integrated into Luke and Nikki’s story, gave me the chills. I adore the writing style, and between this and Cade that I read before, I’m hooked. As soon as I have the time, I will be reading the two other novels in this series, and will be recommending them to others, as well.

Between the devastating back story that comes with Luke, and has made him into the person he is, holding everyone (except his Double D brothers, and his daughter Brie) at arm’s length to protect himself, and the way Nikki melts through to him, and cares deeply for his daughter as if she were her own, was addictive. I refused to book this book down, every chance I had, it was being devoured, and I cannot wait to read more by this author. Wow!

Winter and Cade, I can’t describe the happiness I feel for their second chance romance. Ultimate relationship goals wrapped into a very sweet, emotional read, where the author has truly captivated (this) reader and had me rooting for them from the first few chapters. I absolutely love the way that we get to know the strong bonds that the band members share between them, and very much look forward to reading the previous installments in this series, as well as the next.

This band is not only that, but they are their chosen family. They are there for each other through thick and thin and know each other well enough to know when they are needed, and when they need to leave well enough alone. It’s truly admirable, and something that all, or at least most, yearn to have in their lives. This novel had me picturing the snowy hotel landscape, the love sizzling in the air, and had me crossing my fingers and toes for these two love birds that have been through their fair share of downs, and deserve the highest of highs, alone and together. Thrilled to have more to read by this author, highly recommend!

Luke and Nikki fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Poor Luke started out his life as an innocent baby that had been abandoned by his mother. Then he tragically loses his wife and is left to raise his beautiful daughter Brielle. Luckily his band mates step up and help her to have a family but Luke and Brielle are still missing something very important-a special female influence. The way that Luke first comes across Nikki made me burst out laughing! It was definitely fate and perhaps even Cherise that brought the two of them together the way it did. The way that Luke got so upset when he thought that her teenage crush had been on Cody was so adorable. They both try to fight their growing attraction but there’s no denying how perfectly they fit together. This book made me swoon, tear up and laugh out loud and the ending absolutely took my breath away with its perfection.

Luke is the 4th book of the series, and while you can read it as a standalone (I did) but I think it would be better to read the other books first and get a better understanding of the other guys and the backstory.

Luke is heartbreaking, sweet, and his chemistry with Nikki is off the charts. I love Nikki’s attitude, how she knows who she is and owns it. They both have baggage and are doing their best to get past it. Brie is absolutely adorable and I loved the relationships she had with her uncles. The immediate connection she has with Nikki is awesome too. This is a good rock star romance. I think my favorite part is when Luke asks who Nikki’s favorite DD member is!

I am in love! Where can I get myself a hot drummer with mob ties? The author tells this story of redemption with ease, care, humor and steam!

Cade Morello chose music over his family business, leaving his brother to be the boss. Cade found another kind of family with his bandmates. They did almost everything together including the traditional rock and roll things, like addiction. Now he is sober and is trying to patch together some of his past erased by the trappings of that lifestyle. Cade has to remember what happened with the only love of his life, if he wants to be together with her again.

Winter has been there for her brother for his entire career in Default Distraction. It is how she first met and fell in love with Cade. But, Cade broke her heart. Winter made some choices that have left her in a peril, needing money to get out of debt and regain control of her life. Helping Default Distraction open their flagship hotel will solve her money problems but puts her in direct contact with Cade. Winter will stay strong no matter how being in the same room with him lights up her body, she will continue to tell him no. Until she can’t.

Will Cade and Winter be able to overcome their pasts together? Even when hers threatens their future?

This series is amazing! I can’t put it down. Cade and Winter find ways to fight for each other. The twists in this book keep the pages flipping and the heart rate up! Fantastic read!!!

This series is amazing! The characters are fantastically flawed with luggage, not just baggage, that are trying to be better humans. The characters are funny, caring, delicate, intelligent and despite being rock stars, completely relatable.

Luke McKenzie is haunted by the trauma of his childhood and the guilt of his wife’s death. Now he is raising his daughter with the help of his bandmates. After his most recent nanny left to start a family of her own, Luke is now looking for a new one. He has to meet his daughter’s very strict list of qualifications, including loves to dance.

Nikki Osborne has recently returned home after a disastrous experience at her last nanny job. She agreed to help out the local dance instructor with some lessons while looking for her next position. When Luke finds Nikki’s advert for an opening, he thinks he has found the perfect fit for his daughter. Is she also the perfect fit for Luke?

The emotional rollercoaster the author takes you through keeps you flipping those pages. I lost track of time and couldn’t put this one down. I am a Double D girl for life.

I fell in love with Luke and Nikki. Their story was full of passion, love, drama, and of course secrets that could make or break everything. Each one is trying to better their lives for themselves and those they love. As you watch them come together you will want to fight for their love as much as you want them to fight for it.
Luke plays bass for Default Distraction and is currently in need of a nanny for his daughter Brie. Already having gone through so much he wants to make sure its someone who is loving and can connect with him and his daughter. When Nikki comes along everything points to her being the one for the job..and possibly even for him. Together they must go through many ups and downs to find the common ground they need to be together with nothing but love and truth between them.
Its a great story!
