The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price Audiobook (The Crown of Stones Book 1) by C. L. Schneider – Review by Ashley McMillon

I loved reading this incredibly different story! It is always exciting to read a book and it’s new and different…and the execution is different! It’s amazing to compare this to music.  I love music but there’s so many ways to make music that is great to a genre of people! Loved listening to the fun voice sounds as well.  Looking forward to what comes next from the author!

The Guardsman (The Olympic Peninsula Series Book 2) Audiobook by Cat Treadgold – Review by Ashley McMillon

This was a great book to dive into this author. I found myself really interested in the relationship that the two main characters have. The twisted web of relationships was so fun to experience in this book. I loved this story a lot and it didn’t dawn on me that it was not the first in the series! It was really a great stand alone and now I want to read more by this author!

Leaving No Traces (A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome) by P.J. Mann – Review by Ashley McMillon

Leaving No Traces (Commissario Scala #5)Leaving No Traces by P. J. Mann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the moment you open this book…you are hooked! At least I was! This book was very original, I love the setting and location of the book. The author is very figurative in the book and I love it when I can read a book and see it in my head like a movie. I won’t give it away, but the book is worth reading every page! When I first started reading it, I finished 43% of the book right away! I couldn’t put it down! I loved all of the characters and I’m looking forward to hearing much more about Detective Scala!

This book was one that I just simply could not put down! From the note from the author on the first page I knew this would be an extremely entertaining book. There were silly moments and moments that made me upset in this book and the author took the time to be able to produce a book in this manner! I know one thing, I’m extremely happy my mom never had to live in a place like this!

I had ZERO IDEA that this book would be THIS GOOD! I will NOT spoil it for you at all, that would ruin it! This book was so figuratively written, I felt like I was right there with all the characters in the book. The return to the past and back to the future in this book just keep you guessing minute by minute, and you will want so much more from this extremely talented author once you have completed the book. RUN AND GRAB IT NOW! I love psychological thrillers so much that podcasts and documentaries about true thrillers have filled out my extra time! Thank you tons to the author! This was a spectacular read!

This book was an incredible read! The author did an amazing job of writing this memoir. It was refreshing reading this book from the somewhat peaceful view of an inmate. The author takes you on a journey through the lens of hope and I’m here for it! It was very well written and kept my attention all the way through the book! Memoirs are my favorite genre of book to read because you are able to see the life of someone and their thought processes in what they face. I loved this one!

Cabin Eight (The Millersville Series Book 3) by Susan Specht Oram – Review by Ashley McMillon

Cabin Eight (The Millersville series)Cabin Eight by Susan Specht Oram
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author is one of my favorites! The first two books in the Millersville series were so well written and full of suspense-so much so that I jumped at the chance to read this book. Our main character has had some tough times occur in her life and the book starts with her and a fire. Now since she started the fire over a very silly mistake…she was trying to cover up a secret from her past. Well not only did she start a fire in a motel and destroy the room and a couple nearby, she failed to heal the pain of her past mistake! Well her kind mom is so supportive and sends her on a trip just to get away. Little did they know the true story behind cabin eight! I don’t want to give it away but just know that curiosity killed the cat! As usual, I’m looking forward to the next gem of literature from the author!

Afflicted LoveAfflicted Love by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The author brings you right into the heart of the story right away as we meet Kyle and Lyle and learn of how immediately intense the connection is between them. Honestly my thoughts of their home lives were so sad in that they grew up in such extremely tragic situations. But in the midst of everything, they have each other as brothers. As the story unfolds, we learn that the bond between them is much more than brothers. I was intrigued by their connection and the way they tried to hide it even though it was evident. This was a really well written book! I highly recommend!

The First Sin (South of Eden) Audiobook by Lisa Beth Darling – Review by Ashley McMillon

The author of this book takes an extremely unique spin on the story of when the first sin happened. It was a pretty interesting story however I think I got lost while reading it and my anticipation of what would come next made it really rough to follow along. Very creative take on the story. I’m definitely interested in reading more from the author on different subjects.

White picket fences is a book written from the point of view of a mother who has seen since very tragic times in her life! Julie does all she can throughout this great book to help her family heal from the tragedy they faced – and also relieve her guilty conscience from that fateful day. I loved Julie from the moment I met her in the first chapter, and the author pens a heartfelt story on this book you won’t want to miss. By the end I only wanted to know so much more about their family!

Nadine, our main character is a boss! She, like many of us, is prone to making poor decisions. The juice bar is doing great, until Nadine is hit with some incredibly irritating news that is detrimental to her business! Her ex-boyfriend/partner in the juice bar has caused chaos to their business venture. In the midst of the breakup, a decision to confiscate his personal trainer takes a huge turn! I personally enjoyed Book 2-even though I did not read book 1. This is one you won’t want to put down-it is definitely a realistic must-read!

Return to Hoodoo (Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue, Book 1) Audiobook by Reggi Dupree – Review by Ashley McMillon

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book cover to cover!  Gwen shows up and shows out in every chapter in this book.  I love the narrator, her voice gives me incredible vibes of the south while listening to it.  With every page turn I became more and more comfortable with everything that Gwen faces, and saw my thought process.  Gwen gets a haunted house, a ghost, and accusations of murder all in the beginning of the book!  I didn’t want to put it down and neither will you!  I think I need to purchase the hard back of this one ASAP!

The Summer I Went Crazy by Laura Koerber – Review by Ashley McMillon

The Summer I Went CrazyThe Summer I Went Crazy by Laura Koerber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book by this author is one that I was really not prepared for! It was so full of twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting, even though I read the description of the book before I started! I couldn’t put it down! The brain character takes you on a wild ride as he deals with his own self induced trauma of keeping the secret for so many years. I love how the author really breaks down every layer of his intense emotional strain. I didn’t want to put this one down for one second! Of course there is a warning necessary for anyone who is unable to handle the sensitive topics covered, please be advised!

The ThievesThe Thieves by Susan Specht Oram
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Where do I even begin! I love this author and her amazing stories. I only put the book down bc I had places to go people to see and puppies to watch! This was an automatic don’t put that book down kinda book! The story was extremely well written, fast paced, and captivating. You’ll jump from character to character, scene to scene, and won’t miss a beat. Jasmine is out to save her fathers life with a healing surgery in Mexico. Of course it is extremely expensive, so this amateur concocts this plan to steal enough money to take care of him and extend her father’s life! Well as she is robbed by clearly knowledgeable crooks, she decides to keep fighting and not give up! You will be surprised at this series of unfortunate events! This is a must read! Also check out her other physiological thriller! It’s cinema worthy!!!

A Mountain in the Air: A TrilogyA Mountain in the Air: A Trilogy by Laura Koerber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A mountain in the air is a refreshing trilogy. This intertwined set of stories are heavily built in fantasy and cause your mind to think and reflect on many abstract concepts of life and death. While reading I found myself doing just that and this enhanced the reading experience. The shape shifting main character in the book has a myriad of adventures in this future world. The way that the author portrays animals and the idea of survival in this dystopian world is very thought provoking. If this is your genre you will enjoy this read.

This entire collection is a really great series to read! You start with learning a bit about the main characters in this family, the lust that drives them, and SO many crazy secrets! If there is one thing each member of each story is known for it is the secrets they fail to keep! The author does her job of making the reader invest in the lives of each character in the series, but within each book drawing a focus on the leads. Steele Resolve by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Ashley McMillon

Steele Resolve (Hawke Family #6)Steele Resolve by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The author has given yet ANOTHER layer of complexity to this Hawke family, and I was in shock by the end of book 6! This was one of the best of the series in this collection, and it is only a novella! We learn about the boss, Steele, and how he has an amazing night with this guy, Byron. Of course, the secrets of his involvement in the mafia, and Byron’s connection to the Hawke family get Steele pressed into a corner. It always seems that these incredibly steamy romances cause the main character of the story to have a dangerous decision to make! You will be thoroughly surprised at the craftiness of the author once you hit the ending! Do not forget to read all of the other books in the collection! I hit my aha moment a few times once i concluded the series!

I was not ready when I started this book! So far this is the second title I’ve read from this author-the first was book 1 in the Hawke Collection and I’m hooked-and it was one I didn’t want to put down! This is a steamy story about the heir to the Hawke throne-and his sexually explicit adventures prior to stepping into his new role. He meets an incredible woman why he just wants to physically enjoy…but isn’t it like attraction to every once in awhile give us the time of our lives with an unexpected love connection? This author takes to put on a ride from his point of view and it is wild! I won’t give it away but you’ve got to read to see what happens to this inseparable pair!

Freedom Rings (The Circle Book 3) by Brenda Hardwick – Review by Ashley McMillon

Freedom Rings: Book Three of The CircleFreedom Rings: Book Three of The Circle by Brenda Hardwick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Freedom Rings is as it says book 3. I did not have the chance to read the first two books in this series, but I enjoyed reading this book! I was excited to read an original story so deeply described about a new world of fantasy. I would recommend catching the first two books first, as there were a few parts within the book that I felt kind of left out on. It is my plan to read the first two books and then come back and try this one again. In the book, our main character, Soraya, is pushed into the leadership position to fight against the CEO of the company DNAgen Biolabs. She is the lead in The Circle, and must fight the CEO from making this pill that will eliminate particular people from the world. She is fighting evil magic, and it is a very action packed book. I felt like with each additional character in the story, the story got better and better. I highly recommend starting from the beginning, as I want to know more about Soraya’s beginnings! The author does a really great job of writing an in depth story line. Enjoy!
