I liked all of the different powers. The characters were interesting and unique. The world building was well done. The writing was very descriptive. Great fantasy book. I look forward to more in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. While above everything, it was a fantasy novel, it was so much more than that. It kind of felt like a mix of many popular genres: action, romance, fantasy, it has it all! This was definitely a unique take on the “magic powers” trope, which was entertaining on its own, but it also had great world and character building! I would definitely recommend it as a fun, easy read.

Starting off a series with a bang! I love this type of genre, especially when a author can pull off beautifully descriptive world building. The characters were fun and unique and the plot kept me turning pages. There is the perfect balance of paropanormal, action, fun and a little romance. I cant wait to read book 2!

This author was a new read for me. I was a bit lost at the beginning of the book and could have used a bit more back story and walk through of some of the terms and definitions before jumping right in, but with that being said I did enjoy this book. The main character Lee was quite endearing with her vulnerabilities.
Lee has a unique magic that allows her to shift between the veil of this world and the next where she can move around without being seen or heard, a great asset for a thief! The major problem is that every time she uses this magic it is slowly killing her.
There was a ton of action in this book which made it a great page turner. I look forward to book 2.

This was such an interesting story. Lee has magic, and she can use that magic, but it is killing her to do so. Stealing to live and using magic to do it is tearing her apart. Literally. She just needs to get to the Ceteri to get them to “fix” the magic inside her. A great adventure in a race against time to save her own life. A must read!

I enjoyed this book. The world, magic system, and characters are unique and interesting. I both liked and didn’t like Lee. She is prickly and standoffish, which is understandable considering her life. I wish we knew more about how the crew came together and the relationship between crew members prior to the events in this book, and I really want to know what happens to Finn, Lee, and the people we met along the way.

Great world building!! I love fantasy and rarely find a new subset to that category! This author not only created a whole new world but a whole new set of magical rules! The characters were diverse and well detailed! I loved the premise that something crashing from space could infect humans and give them supernatural powers. Of course as always magic comes at a price but the way the author deals with that basic rule is not only entertaining but is entirely different from other magical, mystical realms. All in all I really enjoyed this novel and look forward to the next book in the series.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I can say I’ve had a blast. I was attention was able to be grabbed and as someone with ADHD and autism I definitely still held onto the book and understood the meanings. The emotions that Lee went through as basically living her life trying to get out of a street gang and save her own life while living with the guilt of not being able to save another’s. This book is a page turner and has me wanting more and so I’m glad there is going to be more than just one book. I would suggest this book to everyone.
Short and sweet this writer is well spoken and keeps your mind active. If you want to be taken to another world for awhile please read this book.

This is a new author to me, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I picked up this book. I loved the cover so I thought I would give it a try. I wasn’t disappointed. What I found is a very well written story with some truly amazing characters. To be quite honest, I felt myself wanting to be the main character several times. I highly enjoyed the good and bad within her and the plot twists that came along with her. The author did a fantastic job describing her fantasy world and the magic within it. This was a very fast paced book, and I was on the edge of my seat reading it. Very much looking forward to the next book in the series and I recommend that you read it.

Thief of Magic is an excellent start to a series and a great addition to the fantasy and paranormal genres.
I believe this is my first introduction to the “liminal” realm, it is an interesting view of magic usage, and easy to comprehend if it’s a new concept for you.
The Author has amazing attention to detail, making it easy to get lost in the pages of the novel. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter and will most definitely be reading the next one!

Thief of Magic is a great book! I love Lee who is a stubborn, powerful woman that has been through so much. She only wants to be free and will do everything in her power to gain that freedom even as she is surrounded by people wanting to use her for her abilities . I also love Adam even though he had his own agenda I love how he starts to care for everyone and just wants to do what’s right. My favorite character is probably Sam, he is such a sweetheart and his abilities are so cool! The beginning kind of started a bit abruptly so it took a minute to get into the story but two chapters in and I was hooked!

Lee has magical abilities that are slowly killing her. In order to survive, she needs to find the cure. This means she must stay with a crew and steal in order to earn money. With a shady leader and the FBI on their tracks, Lee is not sure who she can trust. Opinion At first, I was a bit taken aback with all of the terms the author used to describe the magic and the groups contained in the book. Once I was able to get a hold of the names, the story flowed effortlessly and quickly. The concepts presented by the author are certainly a fresh look at magic, both how it is obtained and what the powers entail. I truly believe that paranormal fans will fawn over this book. Best of all, it is the first book in a series with the second book due to come out over the summer.

Lee is a regular human gorl with an extraordinary ability, since humans were gifted by a race called the Ceteri with Thaumaturgy, different types of magic have been found and the type Lee has is slowly killing her, it is like a cancer which tears her cells apart each and every time she uses her power. Her power is a useful one, it is the ability to cross the veil between realms into the Liminal Realm, a place where she is neither seen or heard by others, but she can travel long distances by using Ley Lines as a power source, it is great for her profession as well. Lee is a professional thief, she is the member of a group of people who are just trying to survive, however, their money doesn’t come from legal ventures and because there aren’t enough jobs to go round, they are currently flat broke.
Lee is realising that her usage of her ability is bringing her closer to death than ever before and all she wants to do now is find out how she can travel to the planet which the Ceteri live on, ask them to cure her of her Liminality and save her life, but in order to get there, she has to find some directions. This is where she starts to keep things from her crew and goes on a job by herself to steal something that she can use to pay for the information she needs, however, when a member of her crew turn up, she has no choice but to let them in on the job, much to her annoyance, because she doesn’t want them to know what she is up to. The heist goes wrong and they are nearly caught and by the FBI no less, however, something strikes her as odd when one of the agents seems to be able to follow her into the Liminal Realm, but she has no time to think about it when all she can do is stay alive and Liminal long enough to escape their clutches.
When they return to the hideout, Lee finds that she is going to be watched and that if she wants to leave the crew, she is going to have to be more stealthy, however, as they realise how much money they will need just to get by, they decide to plan a last ditch effort heist. In order for this to go ahead, the boss decides that they need more muscle and much to her annoyance, the new muscle’s test is to take her down when she returns from one of her night-time walks. They pass the test and it is then that Lee finds out that this new muscle is her new bodyguard, much to her annoyance and theirs, but will this foil Lee’s plan to get the coordinates to the Ceteri’s home, or will it be the FBI or her own demise which will find her before she even has a chance to try? This is an urban fantasy with a magical twist where all the sides are hostile and the odds are stacked against the underdog as they race against time and mortality to achieve their deepest desires.

This book opens with an absolute bang. We are faced with magical beings. One in particular being our main character Lee.
Lee has magic but there is a problem. This magic comes with a cost. An absolute cost at that. On top of that Lee is being tracked by the FBI.
This book has wonderful characters and fantastic world building elements. This is one of the better first books to a series I have read in quite some time. If you’re debating, don’t. This is a wonderful fantasy to pick up. A quick read as well.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Thief of Magic is the first book in the Shadowed Minds Series. I love this book and can’t wait for the next book. The author is now on my list of many authors that I’m on the watch for.
Lee is a Liminal and going to die if she doesn’t get the cure. The only thing she’s gotta do is make it until she can get to the people who made her this way. Finn being the new guy is also the one who may be able to save her. The quote I chose for Lee is: “Agent of the devil, hellion, whatever it was? Yes, yes I did. Every newbie needs a chance to prove themselves.”
Adam is an FBI Agent and needs to catch a Liminal. Catching her might prove to be difficult until he gets the chance to join their team. He falls for her and might be the only one to save her from herself. The quote I chose for Adam is: “Our department is the only one using the funding! Unless you’ve already started funding the CSI, there’s no reason the money can’t be used to purchase relevant tech or hire new people for the FBI.”
Highly recommended for Supernatural Fantasy lovers.
Thief of Magic is the first book in the Shadowed Minds series. I thoroughly enjoyed this fantasy adventure and look forward to continuing to read the series! Lee, the protagonist, has powers which are strongest when she is in liminal spaces. Empty laundromats, museums after hours and other such places turn up a lot in this book. It makes for a wonderful, mysterious urban fantasy world. This book features an exciting cast of characters with different powers. All their powers have downsides as well, and I like the extent to which this book explores the cost of magic. For example, Sam (one of my favourites!) can see people’s intentions, but this means he struggles to go out in public where he is overwhelmed by the information he gets from everyone around him. There are plenty of complications in this book. Everyone wants different things and few, if any, are fully trustworthy. There are mysteries galore, which keep readers turning the pages. This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to fans of urban fantasy and magical heists. This is a very promising start to the series!

This book takes us in in the world of fantasy, danger, mystery, magic of course, and many delightful characters who bring their good and bad to these fantastical pages. Lee, the main character, is a thief. Not only is she good at her job but she in indispensable because of the magic she has. Lee can enter another realm called the ‘ Liminal Realm’. When she enters this realm, she can travel without being seen or heard.
Unfortunately, Lee hates her abilities. Being a Liminal has shortened her life significantly and she is tired of it. She will do anything to be healed. In order to do so, she needs to meet the ‘Ceteri’, who are the beings that have introduced magic to the inhabitants of Earth.
In this novel, we follow Lee in her adventure to find the Ceteri while getting weaker with every use of her power. Not only that but the FBI are also tracking her. It was a very interesting read. I will be looking into the other books of this series for sure!

Thief of Magic is a great fantasy novel with lots of action and interesting characters. Our heroine, Lee, is bright, tough, and singularly driven to do whatever it takes to avoid her fate. Growing up without parents, and having to steal to survive, she is resourceful and pragmatic, but also slow to trust anyone. When the new teammate joins the crew, he seems inordinately interested in her movements and motivations. His interest makes her uncomfortable, but she needs his help to complete the jobs and earn the money for her plan. There are plenty of exciting heist scenes, complete with otherworldly magic and powers. Lee’s race to find a cure provides excellent drama and suspense to keep the reader interested. I highly recommend this read.

Yes Omg Yes! I loved this book I cannot wait for the rest of this series. Special powers are always my forte. This was very X-Men and I am all for it. The character building I just fell into the story and I want to be part of it. An undercover agent helps our protagonist on her quest to survive something she may not be able to escape. This story has you on edge with all the twists and turns but you are not going to want to put it down. It is so descriptive and a bit emotional. This is the beginning of an amazing series.
