This is the second book to the Kingdom of the elf series. I did not read the first one to this series. But I have to say this book still didn’t disappoint. I will be going back and reading the first book thou, this book really made me want to. The characters were very well written that I didn’t feel the need like I was missing out on something when it was mentioned. It was so well written I did feel lost and confused. This book was very fast paced, that I just couldn’t read it fast enough to know what was going on and know what was going to happen next. This book took a hold of me and wouldn’t let me go till I was done reading. I will also be differently looking for the next book to this series. Very entertaining and enjoyable.

Definitely worth it!

I enjoyed Curse of the Elf Lord it was a good read. It was not a confusing read i could follow along with what it was saying.
We are diving deep into the supernatural world. There’s more than Elves, there’s demons, gods, wolves, and way more. Mythology tying into books is a good place to go for me. I enjoy it. Emilien and Hel are at romantic odds. Estrangement is better, but what happens when they are forced to work together, and what then?
Something is going on, beings in the different worlds are starting to disappear. Getting stuck in the Shadow Lands Emilien was thrown for a loop. He was also attacked too and warned to cease his quest after his brother and his wife. If it wasn’t for his connection with Hel he might not have made it back. Freyja believes it’s all tied together. Olivier and his wife’s disappearance and the missing beings from world’s that depend on them for survival.
The the characters are pushed back together to survive but in a good way. Its a very good read and ita amazingly written. It makes you wonder what is going to happen next in the book.

Curse of the Elf Lord (Kingdom of the Elf Lords Book 2)Curse of the Elf Lord by Heidi Vanlandingham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Curse of the Elf Lord is the second in the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series by Heidi Vanlandingham. In this installment, focus switches to Hel, Loki’s daughter, and Bernard’s uncle Emilien. Hel had made the difficult decision of staying out of their daughter’s life as her realm was draining Shalendra’s life force and she was in danger of Loki finding out about her. Shalendra grew up with Emilien, believing that he was her brother. Then, entities started to disappear from the afterlife realms and Hel finds out that Shalendra contacted Freyja, saying Emilien was missing. Hel takes the journey to Midgard to calm Shalendra, where she makes the difficult decision to tell her that Emilien is her father, risking Emilien becoming mad at her. Only a strong blood bond, such as father to daughter, can locate him. Doing so may alert Loki to who she is to him. Can Hel find Emilien and who is responsible for the disappearing entities? Can she keep Shalendra safe from her father, Loki? Find out in Curse of the Elf Lord.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. All characters were relatable, and the vivid descriptions allowed the reader to envision the realms. I would not change a single part of it. If you are looking for an enchanting read, don’t miss out on Curse of the Elf Lord.

Curse of the Elf Lord (Kingdom of the Elf Lords #2) by Heidi Vanlandingham

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Curse of the Elf Lord is the second book in the Kingdom of the Elf Lords Series. I really loved this book and will be looking forward to more.

Émilien is trying to figure out what is going on. Why are there undead going missing? What does this have to do with Hel? Something isn’t right and he wants to figure it out. Can he win back Hel’s heart? The quote I chose for Émilien is: “Theirs is a cursed afterlife—neither dead nor living. Like zombies but not. They are supposedly the worst of the undead, doomed by their own malevolent deeds or by a necromancer. We stumbled upon them not long ago in the United States. They actually ended up helping us in our fight.”

Hel is at Émilien’s place and isn’t sure how to deal with everything. She came to tell him something, but is more concerned with her daughter. Can she and Émilien work things out? The quote I chose for Hel is: “I do, but it’s so difficult to know she’s here and not with me. I’m her mother, yet I am a total stranger to her. I haven’t forgotten how sick Helheimr made her, but maybe she’s outgrown her allergy? How can we know if you don’t let her try?”

Highly recommended for Fantasy lovers.

So can we talk about the norse, Celtic, Egyptian crossover? Add some supernatural elements and we have one of the best books I’ve read. Émilien and Hel are at odds but must come together to save their daughter and stop the threat on all realms. Will Hel and Émilien be able to put their differences aside and repair their broken relationship? I cannot wait to learn more about their daughter Shalendra and what her journey entails.

I really enjoyed this book. I found it interesting because it brought two different elements together, elves and Norse Gods. I recommend this book and author to anyone who enjoys paranormal stories with a twist.

Curse of the Elf Lord (Kingdom of the Elf Lords Book 2)Curse of the Elf Lord by Heidi Vanlandingham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Émilien Elasalor is an elf lord who has been living a cursed life thanks to an individual from his past who has tortured and changed his life forever because of it, this curse was for him to live the rest of his life in the form of a wolf and he has been trying, unsuccessfully to find a cure for the longest time. Hel is the Queen of the Dead and her kingdom of Helheimr is a land of ice and cold, it is one of the kingdoms of the dead and is where her life has been for the longest time, with her helper she rules the dead and both keeps them in line and looks after them as best she can, even to her own detriment.

After helping another elf lord, Émilien returns home, however, when he is in the midst of conversation, he realises something is wrong and leaves to investigate on his patrol, but things start to go wrong and when he doesn’t return, people become worried. Meanwhile, Hel is having issues of her own when the dead souls start to disappear from her kingdom, but it is not just happening there, it is happening in all of the kingdoms of the dead and this does not bode well for anyone.

One of Émilien’s other goals is to find out about the disappearance of his brother and sister-in-law who disappeared some time ago, but all he is finding is dead ends, but he knows he will stop at nothing to find out what has happened to them, but this has to be placed on hold when his help is requested to work together with his ex-wife Hel to figure out what is happening to the dead and who is behind it. The only problem is with their past causing a rift between them, from when he and their daughter had to leave Helheimr for their own safety, albeit they still harbour deep feelings for the other, they cannot move past this and don’t believe they even can, so when the life of their daughter is threatened by the same cause of the missing dead, can they put their differences aside to save her, as well as the rest of the Nine Worlds? This is an epic fantasy where time is of the essence as two powerful individuals have to work together to stop the calamity which is racing towards them in this captivating tale.

I was excited to read this book as not a continuation of book 2, but to see where book 2 took me. I was not disappointed! Emilien being a cursed werewolf, wants nothing but his previous life back. His beautiful wife and daughter. With the disappearance of his brother and sister and law, he decides to refocus and try and find them knowing he wont get his life back. When thing come to an interesting turn of events an he has to work with his wife the queen of the dead Hel, things start looking up, or so he hopes. Hel is not looking forward to working with her estranged husband again. They bicker like and old married couple, and can never seems to make decisions. Hel only wants one thing, the daughter she was forced to give up. In this second tale, we come across more mythology and monsters and some of the supernatural. The ending begs a few questions that I desperately want to know the answer!

When I found out there was going to be a second book of the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series I was ecstatic and this book definitely lived up to my excitement. The author does a fantastic job at continuing to build on the magical world introduced to us in the first book, but focusing on his uncle Emilien rather than Bernard. The paranormal undertones of the book made it a wonderful choice of book for spooky season, and I also continue to love the inclusion of the lesser-known Norse Mythology details in the series.

The story of Emilien and his love the Ice Queen Hel presents an interesting twist on the series. I love that even though they are being forced to work together you can still tell how deeply they care for one another. I’m excited to see what happens in the story of Cyran and Shalendra!

This second book in the series follows the story of Emilien and Hel. They were married and in love until Emilien was cursed and turned into a wolf. He and their daughter left Hel and he became the guardian of his realm while Hel stayed in hers. This story has a few of the characters from the last book but is mostly a whole new plot line. I’m again happy for the glossary of people and characters, I just wish they had phonetic spelling too because I think I am saying all the names incorrectly! This book has magic, fighting, love, courage, and so much more. You travel through realms and time and see so much. There are multiple stories happening as they are all trying to figure out why the dead are leaving their realms. It ended pretty quickly but left an opening for the next book which will focus on Emilien and Hel’s daughter, Shalendra.

An Elven who was cursed into the body of a Werewolf? Now there’s a new story line I hadn’t thought of or heard of.
Emilien wants to win back the love of his life But he knows its unlikely especially in the body of a Werewolf. He’s been focusing on the disappearance of his brother and sister and law until he’s threatened to stop
At the same time his wife Hel also known as “the ice queen” is trying to make heads or tails of sudden disappearances across the 9 worlds.
Hel and Emilien are at odds but are going to have to work together to save their 9 worlds and their daughter is going to have to forgive Emilien… can they all work together to save the 9 worlds from complete ruin?
This 2nd installment of the series was much easier to follow, engrossing, full of drama and intrigue, family ties, high stakes adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Where do I even begin? I absolutely loved this book!

This story follows Emilien (a cursed elf lord), his (semi-ex) wife Hel, who is the ruler of Niflheimr and the Queen of Helheimr, the land of the dead, and their daughter, Shalendrah.

Something dark and dangerous is creeping into their lives. While Emilien is still trying to find his brother and sister-in-law, things just keep getting in his way. And now he and Hel have been thrust into the past and must find out why and how to get back, while their powers seem to be leaving them.

This is a beautiful story that is full of adventure, longing, discovery, romance, and so much more.

Émilien Elasalor concentrates on his brother and sister in law’s disappearance, knowing that he probably won’t be able to lift the curse so he can be with his wife, Hel.

This is a story about an Elf who has been cursed to have the body of werewolf? Sign me up cause I would have never thought of that.

The two finds themselves at odds when they have to work together.

I really enjoyed this novel, it was really captivating even though I didn’t read the first novel, I wasn’t confused at all. The writing style I really liked to. It didn’t take me long to be engrossed in the story.

I didn’t see anything online about a third novel but I would love to read about Émilien and this world.

Curse of the Elf Lord is the second book in the Kingdom of Elf Lords series. It is a wonderful romantic fantasy with lots of suspense. Heidi has incorporated and Norse mythology into this series and it enriches the intrigue. There is plenty of action and danger, magic and adventure, emotions and drama.

With elves, shifters and characters of all types, this tale will keep the pages turning just waiting to find out what is going on. Add in many twists and turns and you have a thrilling and suspenseful tale.

As I said about the first book and it also applies to this book the beautiful descriptive narrative, intricately woven threads, and great world-building leads to a tapestry of enjoyment.

I eagerly await the next book.

~Elf Lord Kingdom~

This is the second book in the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series. The author continues this saga with the very loved characters heavily dipped in Norse Mythology. In my opinion, this story is very well-developed, and a little less confusing (for me) than the first book. All of the background has been set for us to fully enjoy the 9 worlds and characters in them. Very gripping uniquely spun fantasy that transports you once again into a realm you wont want to leave anytime soon.

The author delivers suspense, disappearances, and of course strained familial bonds. In this tale you have shapeshifting, different creatures like; Fae (and dark Fae), wolves, undead, among many others. Of course… there is romance, in a sort of enemies/lovers way and secrets relationships.

Our beloved Emilian being forced to do what he doesn’t want to do, but is obligated to do over and over again. He is easily one of my favorite characters, and I’m always shocked by his choices, he’s not the easiest man to read.

Can Emilien and Hel work together long enough to save the very fabric of the nine worlds, or will they let their humanity lead everything to ruin? Can Shalendra ever find it in herself to accept her destiny and forgive her father? I wasn’t disappointed, and will need to read the next in this series to find out!! In addition to that there are so many other stories by Heidi Vanlandingham I’ve found I may need to add to my reading list. Thank you so much for such an excellent continuation of this series, what a thrilling read!!!

I enjoyed Curse of the Elf Lord way more than I enjoyed book 1. It wasn’t all over the place and confusing for me. A cohesive story that I feel was better written with more substance than the first book.
We are diving deep into the supernatural world which is what drew me to this book in the first place. Though I’ve minimal Elven reference, my preference tends to stick to vampires and shifters. However, there’s more than Elves, there’s demons, gods, wolves, ect which I enjoyed. Mythology tying into books has a tendency to peak my interest as well. Especially if Hades is involved, but I digress.
Emilien and Hel are at romantic odds. Estrangement is better, but what happens when they are forced to work together?
Something is going on, beings in the different worlds are starting to disappear. Getting stuck in the Shadow Lands Emilien was thrown for a loop. He was also attacked too and warned to cease his quest after his brother and his wife. If it wasn’t for his connection with Hel he might not have made it back. Freyja believes it’s all tied together. Olivier and his wife’s disappearance and the missing beings from world’s that depend on them for survival.
The author writes a wonderful story that pushes these two estranged characters back together. Wonderfully written she keeps you intrigued and wanting to know what happens next. I very well believe this works just as well as a stand-alone as well as a series. Now I think I need to jump into one of the authors’ other series because I’m realizing I may have another author to add to my list of favorites!

Curse of the Elf Lord (Kingdom of the Elf Lords Book 2)Curse of the Elf Lord by Heidi Vanlandingham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After finishing the first book in the Kingdome of the Elf Lords Series, Return of the Elf Lord I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book 2. The author continues to build on the magnificent world of the first book, but we are now learning about Emilien Elasalor, Bernard’s Uncle. He was cursed centuries earlier by a dark fae into the upright wolf that he is.
Shortly into the book it was nice to be reminded of Bernard and Alva from the first book. Emilien had helped his nephew in Washington D.C. fighting the loose undead, a result of Bernard having changed the war’s timeline. Shalendra, is the perfect combination of Elf and God, her features that of an angel. Her entire life he had taken care of her, told her he was her brother only now to have run out of time and having to tell her the one secret he has kept from her, the most important. She was not his sister but his daughter. Only before he had been given the chance Shalendra alerts him to the blue glowing figures outside the window, five large Draugar and eight wolves circling them. The elf king Ailuin had sent the group to his home, which had been hidden for centuries, for Emilien to teach the wolves how to live in their new forms, rather they wished to or not. Because of the curse done to him the wolves before him and all others like him when his children, created using the notes of the dark fae that had changed him.
Once again, the originality of Heidi Vanlandingham draws me in deeper and deeper with her Norse mythology mixing with history. How will Shalendra react to learning that her entire life has been a lie. The man, or better the wolf before her was not her brother but in fact her true father. Will Hel and Emilien be able to save their only daughter and will love reunite them after so long apart. I cannot wait to see what comes in the next book about Cyran and Shalendra’s story.

This is the second book in the Kingdom of the Elf Lord series. After reading the first book I was excited to get my hands on this one. The author does an amazing job of creating world and characters and making paranormal creatures and Norse gods seem as real as me and you.
This book is packed full of paranormal goings on with a mix of mythology in the Norse God’s. There is romance and Suspense and danger around the corner. I would recommend reading the books in order but if you do just pick this one up it would be just as enjoyable on its own.

In this story we follow the story of Émilien Elasalor and Hel.

Émilien is a cursed elf. Cursed to be a wolf and knowing there is no chance of a cure he put his focus on finding his family members that have disappeared while protecting his daughter.
Hel is also known as the ice Queen. Her job is to rule over the dead. However because of that position she lost the two things she cared for in the world. Her love Émilien and their daughter.

When dead people start to go missing from her world Hel and Émilien need to put aside their difference and work together to figure out what new danger is out to get them. However things go from bad to worse when they discover that things aren’t what they seem and the next target is their precious daughter.

Can they work together to help protect their daughter and end the evil that is trying to rise up? Or will their difference be to much for them to forget even if it means protecting the one thing that joins them together?

I loved this book and I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next.

This is the second installation in this series. You must read these in order because with a lot of the details you get in book one you will be super confused. This is not a difficult story to fall into the pages of, but I can see where someone who hasn’t read book one would get lost instead of getting immense satisfaction and enjoyment. I absolutely enjoyed all the elements of this tale. It seems nowadays books are either plot driven or character driven only. Not this book! There is strong character development and a strong plot. There is plenty of depth, drama, action, adventure, twists and turns, ups and downs, fantasy, romance and even a surprise shape shifting. Definitely worth the 5 stars.

It is a fantastic fantasy full of paranormal elements, romance, elves, shifters, magic, action, danger, drama, emotion, adventure, superb world building, challenges, past history, interconnected details, complexity, depth, family, a quest, and high stakes.
After reading the first book, ‘Return of the Elf Lord’ I wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to read this instalment. I had high hopes for what it might contain- especially after finding out about the curse that turns an Elf into a werewolf… I was already hooked by at that stage and my anticipation was set on high. After excitedly diving right in, I was soon engrossed in all the intriguing developments- and devoured every word. I was so happy that the story turned out to be every bit as good as I hoped it could be, and more.

I swear I could not put this book down, I was hooked all the way through. I was left wanting more, hoping for the best for the main 2 characters, and constantly in suspense! Such a read full of intrigue!

The first book was amazing, do not get me wrong, but this one I feel had already established character characteristics and you knew who everyone was. So things happened at a much faster pace. The intrigue and wonder was there as I read. I had to know what would happen to characters as I read. The writing style was perfect as it could get. Would not change a thing. THE book gripped me and held me. The story, as I said went at a good pace, and ended beautifully which I loved. I’m very excited for the next installment!

Great read. Great installment. And one heck of a writer/author. I cannot get enough, seriously! This is a book/author/series I very much recommend. Do not pass up. Definitely a must read all around!

Curse of the Elf Lord (Kingdom of the Elf Lords Book 2)Curse of the Elf Lord by Heidi Vanlandingham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book of the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series and this time it follows Émilien and Hel.

Émilien was an Elven lord once married to Hel – the goddess of the dead and daughter of Loki. Émilien was cursed to live out the rest of his days as a werewolf and lost the love of his life as well. They had a daughter together but Hel wanted her daughter oblivious to her parents origin. She knew her father too well and did not want to give him any fuel to mess around with what was hers.

In the first book Émilien found his long lost nephew he didn’t even know existed. After finding out that his brother disappeared long ago, Émilien decides to find them if it’s the last thing he does.

Something is amiss. Forces are trying to stop Émilien from continuing his search. Meanwhile the dead seem to be disappearing from Hel’s realm. Émilien and Hel have to try to put their differences aside to save those around them, including their daughter.

This book was much more exciting and action packed than the first book. I enjoyed reading about the couple’s love/hate relationship and found myself rooting for them to have a happy ending.

Cursed into the body of a werewolf, Émilien Elasalor longs for a cure that will return him to his true Elven form so he can win back the love of his wife, Hel. But knowing what an impossibility that is, he throws himself into his brother and sister-in-law’s disappearance, vowing to stop at nothing to find them.

Hel is regarded as the ice queen, but underneath that cold exterior is a heart that beats for the daughter she was forced to leave behind—and for the Elf who stole a slice of her soul so long ago. When the dead start disappearing from her realm, she and Émilien are thrust together to discover who is behind this new threat, making the bone-chilling discovery that more is at stake than their hearts—the life of their only daughter.

Can they forge a truce long enough to save her—and the whole of the Nine Worlds—or will their pasts destroy their future?
