Sashimi (Evil Sushi #2)Sashimi by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The town of Treacle is the centre of attention again, but this time for a completely different reason, it has become a ghost town, there is nobody living there anymore thanks to the mutants prowling the shoreline. The mutants which are attacking anyone they see, whose victims screams you can hear, but who are never seen again and the worst part is that the virus mutating them is now heading inland.

The only ones brave enough to stay in Treacle now are the researchers based there, they are desperately trying to find a cure for those affected, but the only thing they are sure of is that some mutations are worse than others.

As cases increase and people keep disappearing, something has to give and so a radical decision is made and a plan is put into place to try and find the answers humanity so desperately needs. So a General and his team set out to do just that, however their reigning theory of terrorism is not one that the rest of the crew share, they believe that it is Mother Nature who is behind it all.

As the team encounter issue after issue, will they be able to find their answers, or will the decision they made be the wrong one? This is a horrifying tale with plenty of adventure throughout, as time runs out for the human population and the mutants which feed upon them, keeping you enthralled hook, line and sinker.

This book offers a very unique take on a dystopian earth and is an excellent start to a multi-book series.

At times I did feel that some things were rushed and sometimes gaps in the chapters but overall this is a quick and easy read.

This Author is very creative and you can tell by reading their books that they put a LOT of care and effort into their writing.

I will definitely be getting the next books to see how this “tail” ends!

I liked this book way better than I thought I would. The beginning was a tad slow. But it definitely set up the background information for what turned out to be quite a read. I didn’t realize I had read the entire book until it said “The End”. The characters were well developed. The author did a great job reinforcing the small town feel. Evil sushi gives me syfy television vibe. Like on the level of sharknado. Entertaining but really out there. I also was concerned how zombie sushi would come in to play but the creativeness of the “zombies” surpasses what I imagined. I cannot wait to read book 2. Hopefully we get a few more answers. Book 1 left me needing more. Do your self a favor and read this book!

This book was a fun and amazing read. My imagination was stimulated word by word with vivid descriptions and all the character interaction. A story very much outside the box and immensely engaging. I started the books out of order so I read book 2 first and then moved to book 1, and that is where I gained a great deal of insight.. This is story that is relatable and has a pandemic type feel. There is angst, drama, deception, mystery, deceit, intrigue, and a twist at every turn. It starts with 2 fisherman who unleash a worldly nightmare and the story begins from there. It will truly keep you on your toes and have you guessing.

With a name like Evil Sushi, I wasn’t sure exactly what I was getting myself into when I started reading this book, but I was wonderfully surprised to discover this thrilling tale was just what the title suggested: something terrifying yet playful. When reading this book, I discovered that this book touches on a lot of different things that I was thinking about over the last few years. I’m sure we’ve all thought about the effect our choice in diet has on the environment, even in passing, and that’s why this tale gave me chills. The classic horror nowadays centers around the impossible: zombies. But what if that terror came from the sea? What if our future looked just a little more like the apocalypse with sea life? Just a little on the joking side, but wonderfully serious at the same time, this book will have you gripping the edge of your seat and expectantly waiting for the next in the series!

This author is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I have read several of their books and so far I have yet to be disappointed. This novel however was not quite what I expected, the cover and synopsis prepare you for the unexpected but I was not prepared for all the twists and turns that this book had to offer. This thriller has so many unexpected twists in turns that you’ll be checking your closet before bed. The characters were amazing, and the plot is original and fantastic. So if your looking for a great new series then make sure you pick this one up today.

Sashimi (Evil Sushi #2)Sashimi by C.A. King
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The premise of this series is very original. This book picks up where the first one leaves off, dropping us in a dystopian atmosphere, where things are quickly falling apart. The originality of the overall story, as well as essentially relying on fisherman to save the day, makes this book interesting. As with most end of the world type stories, the government does not want to believe in the supernatural, they just want to conquer. But the refreshing part of this book are the ones who do believe and definitely want to do the right thing.

This is a book where you definitely have to read book one before you start this book. I have read many books between reading book one and two, and I personally would have liked more of a recap of what happened previously. I was a bit lost throughout the story, not remembering exactly what previously happened. Besides that, this was a unique, interesting book that is unlike any I have read before.

I was not expecting this book to ring so true! The tale of what happens when human greed, misinformation, and ignorance all compile together to bring humanity to the brink of starvation and poverty! Or, is it a story of what our realities will become soon if we don’t focus on the larger picture? DUN DUN DUNNNN. In all seriousness, it is a creative take on a far fetched future based on realistic issues. Brought on by a theory that certain foods were to blame for causing damage to the globe, the over indulgency of another food has turned the world desolate. As it goes, large corporations took a once lucrative past time and monopolized it. Small time farmers make a discovery that has the potential to change this, or will it? Evil Sushi keeps you guessing. An enjoyable read that really makes you reflect on the state of our current world. It is at once entertaining, and a little sad. I am definitely intrigued to see where the story goes next.

Within the last five years, global warming and the decline of the environment have made people rethink the way they eat. Fish is the new hot commodity and Treacle is a perfect town to be a fisherman, until over-fishing and big corporations leave little to nothing left. Rod, a local fisherman with a knack for tinkering enlists the help of his friend Ned to go test out his newest gadgets. What they find in the murky depths shocks them, but what they think could be the end of world hunger might just be the start of a new source of food on the menu, us…..
This book was really fun to read with such a unique concept. The characters were really engaging and relatable and it made me want to find out what happens to them. What stuck with me the most is the things we do to our environment and what would happen when we take more than the earth can give back. I recommend this book to anyone looking for something fresh and exciting that will give you an adrenaline rush!

Sashimi is the follow-up of Evil Sushi, and picks up right where book one left off, so you will want to make sure you read that first! That being said, I enjoyed this one much more than the first one. I feel like the author and characters both evolved and improved in this book and I read it cover to cover in one sitting. I was intrigued with how much was going on, but not overpowering each other. You have some danger aspects, environmental issues, secrets, and mystery shrouded amidst a “pandemic” type situation. Evil Sushi had me interested, but not fully in love with this series, but Sashimi changed my mind fully, and I am completely onboard. This is definitely a series unlike any other, and worth the time to read it. I think this series will be interesting to people from all different genres and there is something for everyone. I will definitely be looking to read book 3, Wasabi

This is nothing like you have ever read…unless you have read a book about evil fish. Local Fishermen, Rod and Ned, thinks they have stumbled upon a new species, but soon find out maybe that isn’t ALL that they have found. Just in case you are wondering, this is not about zombie fish, that would just be silly, wouldn’t it? I enjoyed this one as the unique paranormal read that it was. I wouldn’t put it down as the BEST book I have read but it is far from the worst. I appreciated the down to earth, easy to follow characters and relatable aspects of “what COULD happen if….” This will easily appeal to quite a few people from different genres and was worth the time. I will also be reading the next one (Sashimi) so that should tell you it isn’t awful. If you are interested in unique and intriguing paranormal aspects, but not like anything else you have read, give this a try.

This is another great read by the author. This is the second book in the Evil Sushi Series. Sashimi picks up after the first book and it’s a must read.

Alieen is one of the survivors of Evil Sushi and is fighting them again. When another branch of the government takes over her base things might not go as smoothly as she wants. The quote I chose for Alieen is: “I should mention the shoreline is creeping inland. I’ve been watching it every day. That could be a problem. Strange weather is being reported from all over. We should keep an eye on it.”

Highly recommended for Horror lovers.

I jumped right in to see how Sashimi, the second book in the series, continues the story that started in Evil Sushi and I wasn’t disappointed! The author does a wonderful job with the characters and scenes, so that I am easily able to connect with them, understand what they’re thinking, and I quickly get hooked into the story again! I liked seeing the relationship between Rod and Sally develop and see the characters grow. Once again this author gives us a riveting story. The character development is fantastic, and the story was written so perfectly that I can’t wait for the next installment in this series. This plot was not only original, but was fast paced, and full of drama, some mystery, some betrayal, and so much more. Starting where the previous installment ends I would personally recommend reading the fantastic series in order. I was skeptical when I first saw this book. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. But I gave it a chance, and I’m glad I did. It’s definitely a different concept. I enjoyed not really knowing what was going to happen next. The only thing that really confused me and didn’t feel like it fit in the book was the relationship between Rod and Sally. I also didn’t catch the age difference between Rod and Ned until it mentioned Sally being Ned’s daughter. I can’t wait to read the second book. Hopefully it will explain things more. Rod and Ned are two hard-working fisherman struggling to put food on their tables and feed others in the world since big corporations are starting to use their expensive resources, such as large boats and explosives to massacre as much sea life as possible. The corporations’ efforts are leaving the small fishing businesses noticeably less and less options while they attempt to somehow keep their businesses afloat.

One day, Rod comes upon a fissure at the bottom of the ocean and notices a plethora of fish inside that may simply be the answer to their prayers. Rod shares this information with fellow fisherman, Ned and they set out to sea to test their luck at the fissure. Things take an unexpected turn which keeps this captivating storyline on point throughout the remainder of the book.

While the initial struggle from the small businessmen is one that we witness in the present day worldwide, the turn of events is not something that you, as the reader, could predict. The author was perfectly creative with the plot details that will keep you enthralled with the book from the beginning. This title definitely keeps you thinking, even after you finish it. I cannot wait to read the author’s next book.

I enjoyed the humble and faint existence of the allure between Sally and Rod. The author does not make the trickle of their love interest between the two become overwhelming or distracting away from the main story, but just enough of a sliver for you to appreciate it and root for the two to come to a realization of the match over each page.

I am so glad I read this book and think it is now one of my all time favorites. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

This book is the second in the Evil Sushi series and it was much better than the first. I found Evil Sushi just to be an introduction to the series while this book is much more action packed and more information included.

The people in the book now have some idea with what they are dealing with and the town that was once called “Treacle” is now a military base with the goal of ending this apocalypse that fish have caused.

We once again follow Rod, Ned and Sally along with Aileen, the head of the military team to find out information on the fish creatures. That is until another military base got attacked and the general takes over the Treacle base.

The military enlists Rod, Ned and Sally to help out with their mission. Rod as the tech person, Ned as captain of the ship and Sally as Aileen’s helper. I recommend reading this book. It is different than anything I have read before making it unique and enjoyable!

What can I say….C.A. King is on a roll with her series Evil Sushi! I thought that book 1, Evil Sushi was awesome, but I think that Sashimi is just as good, if not better! C.A. King knows how to mix suspense with a love story, mystery, and a little bit of horror. In her first book of the series, Evil Sushi we are introduced to Rod, Ned and Sally, well the adventure continues with Rod, Ned and Sally. Ned is still a stubborn, know it all old fisherman, Rod and Sally finally tie the knot, and Evil Sushi is still lurking out there…somewhere. The human race is on the verge of extinction, and it’s up to Rod and Ned to work with the government to figure out how to stop this “virus”. Rod and Sally’s marriage is already facing turmoil, and there’s nothing Rod can do about it at this moment. The government is working with Rod, Ned and Sally to try to find a solution, but are they really looking for a true solution, or are they just using Rod, Ned and Sally. There’s so much in this book that it is so hard not to spoil it!! I will definitely be reading the third book in the series, Wasabi.

I highly recommend reading the first book in the series, Evil Sushi, before reading Sashimi as there are elements in the first that are necessary in understanding this one. C. A. King continued building the characters introduced in the first book. Relationships grow and evolve and the humans decide to fight back against the evil wreaking havoc on the world. One of C. A. King’s non-romance books, Evil Sushi still delivers amazingly realistic and relatable characters as well as great world building. In this semi-dystopian novel, scarce resources are the norm and it’s every man for himself. Small town fishermen find an apparent miracle solution to the food scarcity but this sets in motion a series of events that leads to a global pandemic of sorts. Not only does Evil Sushi have a realistic story line, but C. A. King mixes her realism with folklore, magic, and evil! I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when starting this book, but was pleasantly surprised by the time I finished.

Sashimi is the second book in the Evil Sushi series by the very talented C.A King. I loved the first book, Evil Sushi, so much- it was such a fun read, so I was thrilled to find this had arrived on my Kindle. I did have high expectations, because the first book was so entertaining- and Ms. King didn’t let me down, delivering a worthy second instalment. I am excited to find that there will be a third book in the series, can’t wait to get my hands on ‘Wasabi’ (Book #3).
As with the first book, this has such an original and clever story, really unlike anything I have read before. It has elements of paranormal, sci-fi, horror, dystopia, action, adventure, thriller, mystery, and suspense. With environmental and political issues and agendas, discoveries, danger, good vs evil, small town setting, conspiracies, secrets, hidden agendas, ‘monsters’, and all the intrigue and dramatic developments that you would need to keep you hooked right till the very end.
Sashimi follows on from where we left off in book one- so if you haven’t read the first book yet, I highly recommend that you do so before diving into this book as there are important details there along with a continuing storyline- so you will need to know what happened in book one to fully appreciate and understand what’s happening in this instalment.
As expected from Ms. King, this was a really imaginative, wonderfully detailed, and well written story that wouldn’t let me put it down until I had devoured every word. I am excitedly anticipating the release of Book #3, Wasabi, so I can continue the story and find out how it all plays out in the end!
Definitely worth the read!

Thank you, C.A. King!
