8 Second Ride by Shannon Nemechek
4 Stars

This is a quick novella that can be read while having lunch. Tuck wants his 8 second ride of fame to win the belt buckle. He wants to make his family proud. Tuck is late for work and he’ll probably be stuck with the boss’s daughter again. It wouldn’t be so bad if she wasn’t a spoiled brat. He could think of a lot of things he would like to do with her. Jesse has been in love with Tuck since she first laid eyes on him. She needs to know if he is worth it. So she’s putting him to the test. The chemistry is there but can he prove himself?

I kind of felt like I was watching an episode of Yellowstone. I had no patience for Jesse and found that she had a weird way of showing that she loved Tuck. That being said, the book was well written. If you like cowboys, you’ll enjoy this story.

Strings Attached: A Braebeach Rock Romance by Loriana Cappello – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Strings AttachedStrings Attached by Loriana Cappello
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Strings Attached by Loriana Cappello is a rockstar, second chance romance. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I really enjoyed it!

Calla and Ash have history and now they are back in each other’s lives. Of course, the timing is not stellar as Ash has a decision to make and Calla being back in his life adds one more thing to consider. This time around they agree – no promises. Neither of them can guarantee anything and maybe if they don’t make any promises, no one gets hurt. Calla and Ash want different things but Will Ash convince Calla to take a chance?

I really enjoyed this book. It had a little bit of everything. There were sweet moments and angst. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Professor Valentine is a student/teacher romance by Diana Vale. I love a forbidden story and this one was a cracker. Cassie is experiencing university life and enjoying every moment of it. Diego is her lecturer and soon becomes her obsession. Their attraction is fiery and intense. The forbidden element of their relationship is what I love the most. I love the taboo and cannot get enough of the genre. This little novella was a beauty and it was such a thrilling read. Diana Vale delivered a sexy story and I am really looking forward to reading more from this new to me author . 4 stars.

Witness: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 9)Witness: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 9th book in the Ash Park series and its just as good as the previous books. The stories are all gripping, full of twists and turns and it keeps you guessing from start to end. I love the character of Detective Petrosky. He is a hard character to get to know and love. With a history of alcoholism and a relapse he finds life hard but he still does his job 100% leaving no stone unturned.

This book starts with a simple breaking and entering case but as Petrosky and his partner Jackson start to dig deeper they start to unravel a mystery that leads them into a dark criminal world and also leads them to look closer to home.

It’s a really gripping story with twists that you won’t see coming.

Holmes is an extremely gifted author. Her attention to detail is so superior that the reader cannot help but wonder if they have not in fact time traveler. The imagery and setting are so vivid it is sometimes difficult not to feel completely immersed. I have always been fascinated by ancient Egypt and love this exploration of a time and place that has always seemed so rich in history so different from my own. Another masterpiece.

Meghan O’Flynn is a genius. It’s that simply. Hands down, this series gets better with every book – something I’m simply unprepared for. This latest installment in the Ash Park series, like its predecessors, can in fact stand on its own and be read individually. However given the skill of the author and the sheer genius of the crime thriller that unfolds, to fully appreciate the main characters and their development you will want to read them all. You’ll have to. Your soul won’t rest until you do. They are just that good. Want a book and series that will make you think and keep you guessing and love every mesmerizing and spellbinding chill? What an amazing book! I loved the concept – not your typical romance. I love a good period piece and really enjoyed how Nauraine developed this storyline and these characters. Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University Series Book 1) by Diana Vale – Review by Gail Guerrero

Five Star

Professor Valentine is a story I needed. That forbidden love affair that shouldn’t be allowed but we can’t help that fall. That chemistry that is undeniably addictive. Cassie has a drive to get her through life but even she had to sit back when she went from wanting to just be a student to fighting love. We can’t help who we love or when our hearts tells us we are ready. I do but don’t understand why this type of relationship is forbidden. On one hand you have the potential to ruin a persons career. The other hand you have a young person with their whole life still ahead of them. The amount of power one holds over the other is a big factor as well. But they’re also consenting adults and unless one is forced into it I think it’s okay. I seriously enjoyed the story and need more. This is my first story by this author and I was impressed and intrigued by the plot.

Strings Attached: A Braebeach Rock Romance by Loriana Cappello

This is the first book I’ve read by Cappello and I must say this is a great introduction to a new author to me. She had me hanging on the edge of my seat the entire time. It really felt like I was sitting right there watching it all happen.

Calla thought Ash didn’t notice her, but she never thought that an accident could cause them to become close. After sitting there and listening to him play she realizes he’s the one. The quote I chose for Calla is: “Jesus, I didn’t have a clue. Like I said, one minute we were good friends, at least, I thought we were. The next he…Well, let’s just say I will never understand boys for as long as I live. The stupid s**t you lot do is just strange. I swear you’re all aliens.”

Ashton is the rockstar who has his eye on someone from school. When he catches her eye then he knows he can’t let her go. She’s the one who would stick through all the tough times with him. Ash loves her and isn’t afraid to show her. The quote I chose for Ashton is: “I wanted our calls to be happy ones, not depressing, and I want this visit to be the same, so let’s move on.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

Witness: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 9)Witness: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Witness: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 9) by Meghan O’Flynn was a thrilling 5 star read.

You get pulled right in from the beginning at a crime scene. When Petrosky learns who’s home they are at, things seem a little off with his story. This is a dangerous man that Petrosky has dealt with previously. As they start to investigate further we get so many twists and turns you feel like your one of the detectives.

Will they solve the mystery? Was someone killed at the home?

Overall this was a great read. I really like all of the characters, they add a great element to the story. The author does a great job with her writing and you feel like you are right there with the characters. This can be read as a stand alone but I suggest reading the series so that you can get to know the character better. This book can be read as a standalone but I suggest that you read this series in order for more background information and a better overall experience. This author writes with such detail that you feel like you’re in it. If you enjoy psychological thrillers then this is a must read. There are twists and turns and just when you think you know what’s going to happen next the author takes you a different direction. I can’t say enough great things about this book. This is a full length thrilling crime story. I wish I could give more than 5 stars, it is that good. Not for those under 18 due to the adult theme. While this is a standalone, I recommend you read the others in order.
Detective Petrosky is back and with him comes a story of epic twist and turns. As a detective he has seen more than his share of awful crimes. To date after 9 books I have to say this is by far the most tense of them all. Family secrets can come back at you, and most times it is not what you expected. Spoilers here, I can’t give anything away.

Meghan O’Flynn has done it again. I was on the edge of my seat with this story. Her writing skills are impeccable. So clear and to the point. It is scary to think the thought she has put into words. I love this story, it was non stop action. The characters follow each book, that is why it is good to read books before this one. Meghan O’Flynn thank you for another exciting rollercoaster ride. Well Done!

Best of My Love by N.D. Jackson, started slow for me but then sent me on a roller coaster of emotions. Dre and Erik had been through a lot with their years together and apart but can they give it a second chance at love. Yes, Erik did a horrible thing to Dre years ago, but he was a young, stupid kid who did learn from his mistakes but I don’t think I could forgive something like that. The author’s writing of these characters was strong and powerful but there are just some unforgivable things. I also felt that the ending was missing something.

The World Beyond the Walls: epic dystopian eco-fantasy (Natural Forces Book 3) by Jean Gill. This is an amazing series and this is the final book in the series which makes me sad because I want more. We find Mage struggling to remain true to Mielitta in the war between the Citadel and the Forest. Mielitta has always tried to take care of Mage but if it means losing everything what will she choose. Mielitta will find out that friends to your face aren’t always friends behind your back. The Sun at Twilight is the fourth book and I have enjoyed it just as much as the first three books. The Empire at Twilight series is a great series to read. I highly recommend reading the first three books to get the full background of this book. I love the historical time frame that this is written in. Attention to detail is so important. I was able to paint a picture in my mind’s eye and be drawn into this book with these wonderful characters. The characters are fully developed and complex in nature. This book is about Tudhaliya IV and him taking the throne. There is another, Kurunta has a claim to the throne. How will family, friendship and sacrifice play out in this story? It is a ride of emotions with twists and turns. I highly recommend this book to see what happens within this empire.

Hook’s Little Mermaid (The Untold Stories BOOK 1) by Suzanna Lynn – Review by Karen Pearman

Hook's Little Mermaid (The Untold Stories #1)Hook’s Little Mermaid by Suzanna Lynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I had not read a book by this author prior to reading this book. I have always loved the stories of Peter Pan & The Little Mermaid, so I was intrigued by the title of this. I was surprised to realize that this is a new twist on Captain Hook and his story. And I LOVED IT! I truly had a new outlook on the villain of Peter Pan and could really start to sympathize and understand why Hook was as evil as he was. I was very impressed with this book and found it to be a very fast read. In fact, I read the entire book in less than 24 hours because I was reading it so quickly. I was quite shocked with the writing and the characters. I was expecting the Captain Hook I have grown used to but was surprised to find out that wasn’t the case at all. I believe that this story is geared towards young adult readers but thought that the author did a fabulous job immersing me into their world. The characters resonated with me and I was able to visually see and feel the images around me. I can honestly say that I felt as though I were an actress in this movie. I didn’t want it to end. If you are a fan of Disney then I believe that you will love this book. I am excited to read the next installment in Lynn’s series.

This is one ride I didn’t want to get it off. The story is one of this authors most twisted. It filled me with sadness but it’s quite a mystery/thriller. We follow Ed Petrosky as he navigates a kidnapping gone wrong. It quickly turns into murders and cults. We get to see Shannon again but not really in the capacity I expected. A case from their past (both Ed and Shannon) can bring them together to tear them apart.

The epilogue was something I didn’t expect. I think I read it a couple times to understand it. I feel like we will be going back again to the past.

Strings Attached: A Braebeach Rock Romance by Loriana Cappello is a great second chance, new adult romance. This is a sweet romance with some brilliant characters. I really enjoyed the connection the characters which I think was made stronger by the fact that they had a history. It felt effortless for them to strike up a friendship again.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed the way she came at quite a popular story premise. It felt like it was a new way to go about it instead of the same thing that has been read time and again. The writing had a great flow to it and the story held my interest. This book was a great introduction to this author and I am looking forward to discovering more from her in the future.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This beginning of this book was great! I enjoyed the inner dialogue of Alex and his stress of going camping. I was really getting to *feel* for the characters. Then something happened. It just stopped…well maybe dwindled away. The story became hyper focused on teaching him camping and the discovery of love. The ending picked back up and became the fun loving story. The dynamic between the three was good. Problem was half the time I couldn’t remember they are older characters because their antics seemed like teenagers. I liked the insight into Penny’s character.

Overall this started with a huge promise of a wonderful story. It lost its way but found it again in the end.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella is the first book in the Kirk University series by Diana Vale. I had not previously read any of this author’s work so was unsure what to expect from this novella but I did enjoy it and devoured it all in one sitting.
For a long time I have been a huge sucker for a teacher/student romance. It’s a trope that I do enjoy and this book didn’t let me down. My one moan is that even though I knew it was a novella, I felt that it was all over too quickly. I’d really like to have gotten to know Cassie and Diego a lot more.
I did enjoy reading about Cassie and Diego’s growing relationship but I do feel that for a long time I felt that Cassie was much more invested in the relationship than Diego was. I may be wrong but that’s the feeling that I had for much of the book. It felt as though Cassie was practically begging Diego to have a relationship with her.
I did however enjoy reading the book and would definitely read more of this author’s work.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Sun at Twilight is the fourth book in the Empire at Twilight series by N.L Holmes. As with the rest of the series, this is an historical crime story- full of rich and descriptive details which bring the story to life.
As I have discovered from reading most of Ms. Holmes’ other works, is that historical fiction is what she does best- her extensive knowledge of her subject adds realism and interest to her stories. And the authors obvious passion for history is not only evident in her work- but also added to my enjoyment of the book.
Ms. Holmes’ stories are a wonderful and fascinating blend of fiction and historical fact, which are woven into intriguing tales with plenty of mystery and drama to keep things interesting.

Thank you, N.L Holmes!

Professor Valentine is a great romance read, one that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish, I found it surprisingly easy to connect with the characters given that it’s a novella, there was plenty of detail and backstory that helped the characters feel real and had me invested from the beginning.

I really enjoyed how well rounded this story was and while I don’t usually like the push and pull aspects of relationships, I ended up really liking it in this story, it seemed to add so much for me and really added to the story making it feel all the more raw and real.

Overall, I loved everything about this novella and I look forward to reading more from this new to me author in the near future.
