Best Of My Love (Love in Emerald Creek) by N.D. Jackson – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Best of my LoveBest of my Love by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this heartwarming second chance at love romance story which had me happily turning the pages. Dre returns to her hometown, Emerald Creek having left after the man she thought she would marry, Erick, broke her heart. Having returned she is reminded of all the good things about spending summer in Emerald Creek but she’s not too happy to see Erick again. Erick knows that he made the biggest mistake of his life which resulted in him loosing the love of his life, Dre. Erick thought he was doing the right thing and is a great Dad to his little girl but now divorced he sees Dre’s reappearance in his life as a second chance. He has a summer to reclaim the only woman he’s ever loved and to rekindle Dre’s love for him. I felt fully engaged in the storyline and fell in love with the characters. The chemistry between Dre and Erick really came across in the story, as did the tension between them, especially when they first meet up again. The authors descriptive narrative bought both the setting of Emerald Creek and the characters to life for me which made me feel immersed in the story. The plot had me hooked from start to finish and the story flowed well and it took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. This is a newly edited and updated version of the novel for 2021, and I recommend this entertaining read.

Best Of My Love (Love in Emerald Creek) by N.D. Jackson – Review by Heather Bass

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I love a good second chance romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. This is a book from her Love in Emerald Creek series. This book could be read as a stand alone but there are other characters in the story I would love to read more about. Once I started to read this book I was hooked it only took me over a day to devour this incredible story.

Dre was madly in love with Erick but he ended up breaking her heart. She left Emerald Creek knowing she would never go back there again. Dre now owns her own company and only sees men as objects. She gets a phone call that has her rushing to the one place she said she would never return to Emerald Creek. Dre is helping her bestie recover and she runs into the man that broke her heart. She still feels something for Erick but she is afraid of getting hurt once again. Will Dre be able to put the past behind her or will she end up losing her true love once again?

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University Series Book 1) by Diana Vale – Review by Bailey Stiles Sieler

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University, #1)Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella by Diana Vale
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a story about a young girl away at university. It explores how an 18 year old feels at a new place, trying to find herself and meeting new people. She is focused on school until she meets Diego, her professor. Their relationship unfolds.

Some parts of this book weren’t believable to me. I don’t know how they’re mutual feelings developed so intensely. She was very immature, which was believable, she’s 18. But he was twice her age (mentioned several times) and didn’t seem to have any control of the situation. It was also weird how she kept pursuing him after he tried to set such clear boundaries. I think the author must have done this to make him not seem like a predator, but it seemed odd to me.

This was a novella, a quick 40 minute read. I wish we would have seen more of her relationships with friends. Overall, I felt neutral about this book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It’s been a long time since I struggled to review a book, I sat here for ages trying to think of the words to do this story justice and I really cannot find them. Auctioned is hands down my favourite read of 2021! I already knew I would love it because I love this author but I was completely hooked from beginning to end – I almost wish I hadn’t read it because I would love to go back and read it again for the very first time. I 100% adored and loved Damian – he was everything I wanted from his character and more. The chemistry between him and Bryanna was off the charts! I loved reading about them and wanted more after the story had ended! There was so much to this story that I was so invested in it and the characters. A truly beautiful read.
I cannot recommend this book and the series enough – they are all amazing reads and I just completely adore this author and her amazing writing!

The first book I read by this author I remember thinking I was so totally out of my comfort zone that I didn’t know what to expect but now after three book I’m still out of my comfort zone but I know to expect a wonderfully written story that intrigues and piques my imagination throughout. The authors writing is just wonderful she has such an interesting and engaging writing style, her attention to detail is fantastic and it definitely makes my reading experience so much better. There really were some great and unexpected twists and turns in this story, I loved that I didn’t know what was going to happen. This is the third book in the Natural Forced trilogy so I personally would recommend reading them in order. I am very much looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Love Between the Lines by A.D. Brazeau – Review by Lizzie Chapman Gough

Love Between the LinesLove Between the Lines by A.D. Brazeau
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lovers of rom coms and love stories will love this. Marlowe is once bitten, twice shy writer who lets her romantic side out through the romance novels she writes. When she wins a date with the Goldmine body himself. Heath Rochester, however, fate has other ideas. We follow Marlowe as she tries to guard her heart whilst trying to be there for her sister and her friend with their life struggles. But will destiny have other ideas?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it was like curling up with a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day, heart warming and soothing. This was cleverly written, light-hearted and cozy. I identified parts of myself in Marlowe so I was curious and intrigued as to how her and Heath’s story was going to work out. As this is the first one in a series I’m excited to see what comes next in Marlowe’s story.

Hacker (The Mercenaries Series) by Nadine Travers – Review by Lisa Helmick

Hacker (The Mercenaries, #2)Hacker by Raven White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second in the series. In here we meet Hacker and Marie. There is a ton of action and some crazy times. I wanted to love this but Hacker seems flat. Some working background would be wonderful. See him at his job and bonding with the team. He is deemed a computer expert but nothing is shown in here to that aspect other than at the gunfight he seems to want to “talk” the others down. Marie is a mafia princess treated like dirt. About to be sold off for marriage she asks for help from Hacker. She wants to fight for her rights and does show some moxy later in the book. Her personality does a 180 deg turn that threw me off. Then the ending confused me as to why they both are doing nothing.

Overall this has some good points and is a quick story. It covers the action well and throw in mafia mentality. It moves along at a fast pace that easily keeps my interest. I wish the characters were more well developed so that I could *like and feel* them.

Hook’s Little Mermaid (The Untold Stories BOOK 1) by Suzanna Lynn – Review by Erica Fish

Hook's Little Mermaid (The Untold Stories #1)Hook’s Little Mermaid by Suzanna Lynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Did you ever wonder what happened to Captain Hook before his encounter with Peter Pan? I know I used to make up stories with my friends about the pirate who is always going after Peter Pan. In this book we read Suzanna Lynn’s version, and I have to admit her story is a lot better than mine. Her plot-line takes the reader back and develops the story behind the pirate. We see the usual character names but with slight differences than what we are used to. I highly recommend this book to see what Hook was like before he was Captain Hook obsessed with Peter Pan.

Absolutely enjoyed this book!!! I started the series with book, so I’ll definitely will going back to read the other two. Grabbed my attention from the get go and kept. This book hits on a major issue in our country, Human trafficking and some possible outcomes for some of the women involved. Luckily Bryanna is saved by Damien and his team. Bryanna and Damien’s story is must read. So if you need a good read for a rainy day or just any day get this book.

The Sun At Twilight by N.L. Holmes is the fourth book in the Empire at Twilight series. This is another well written and detailed story by an author who really knows how to create a vivid story. I was pulled right into this story simply from the way the author created it. It felt like it was right there with Tudhaliya and could feel his anguish and conflict. I was interested the whole way through as to what he would do. This book is really all about the characters. They are at the absolute heart of it all and really make this book what it is. I would definitely say, even if this is something you wouldn’t normally read, this series is definitely worth it.

8 Second Ride by Shannon Nemechek

I seem to be on a cowboy kick right now, this is one of the few I have read or listened to over the last few weeks.  This book was a very quick read and I was surprised when I hit the end.  It flew by as I got lost in the story.

Tuck had the patience of a Saint while dealing with Jessie and her antics, though he had no idea what he was really getting while dealing with her.

Jessie was a brat, but the reason almost makes sense to me. I guess the old lady in me sees things differently now than I did at that age.

I wish this had been a bit longer,  but that’s mostly because I’m nosey and want to know what happens next.

If you have an hour or so to yourself,  give this book a try.

Kissing the Kavalier is a wonderfully written Historical Romance that I found myself lost in the pages and couldn’t stop reading till the end. This is a new to me author that I definitely will be checking out more of what she has written. This is a story that takes place in Austria during the time where being married was the thing to be. Countess Zdenka doesn’t expect to be falling in love that is until she dresses up as a man and then she meets Kavalier. Has she put everything at risk of being lost? Find out what happens next in this absolute must read. I truly enjoyed reading this story. I’m a huge lover of Historical Romance and this author definitely did it justice. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Witness (Ash Park Series Book 9) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Melissa Agena

Witness: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 9)Witness: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so completely invested in this series! It just keeps getting better and better. Witness is the ninth book in the Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn. This story has Detective Edward Petrosky scratching his head. With a typical burglary that turned into a giant mystery when he shows up to the crime scene and finds way too much blood for his liking. There is also questionability about the woman that fled the scene. She was supposedly killed 10 years prior in a fire. He also discovers that his surrogate daughter is at the center of all of this. Once again I am completely enraptured by this novel. I absolutely love Detective Petrosky and this series. There are always so many twists and turns that I have no idea what is going to come up next. This book will have you at the edge of your seat wanting to know what is going to come next. You can’t and will not put this book down! As I always say with series, start from book one. However, you can read this without doing that. I can’t wait to see what Ms. O’Flynn has in store for the next book!

Professor Valentine by Diana Vale was a really good read! It was very easy to read, and went very quickly, especially since it was a short page novella. While this book was really good, it was also predicable to me. I saw where it was going almost immediately, and so it felt a little boring. I enjoyed the writing style and easily became enraptured, I just wish the story itself had a little more in it, especially with how the book started out. I thought the beginning was hilarious! Overall though I really did enjoy this book and would definitely read more from this author in the future.

The Tears of Boabdil by Neil McDonald
Four Stars

The Tears of Boabdil is a psychological crime book by Neil McDonald. This is the first book I have read by this author. This book had me enthralled from the beginning. This book is complex, but you know that from the beginning when the MC, Vince lets you know that truth is how believable you make the lies. This is an undercover agent infiltrating a Jihadi Group, so his life depends on the story he weaves. This book is full of action, drama, intrigue with romance added in. A good vs. evil line with deep thought inducing content. This is not my normal genre, but I alway like to expand my reading choices. I would recommend this book especially if you like intriguing undercover/spy novels.

This novella did not disappoint! It may have been a quick read but I am impressed with how much Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns fit in this story. The blurb had me intrigued. Attorney involved in a murder? Attorney in love with someone in the Mafia? I started reading and between the steamy romance between Seth and Braelynn and the Mafia action I didn’t stop until The End.

I give Witness: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 9) by Meghan O’Flynn, 5 stars.

I have been following this series, but I somehow forget just how good it is until I pick up the next book. This one is no exception. The story pulled me in right away. There is so much going on, and you never know which turn in this thrilling ride you will take next. It is full of action, suspense, some gripping terror, and lots of what will happen next. I kept trying to figure it out, to know avail. But that’s a good thing, I don’t like my suspense to be predictable.

As I have said, I have read other books in this series and I love how the characters are constantly evolving and growing. It’s not always in a good way, but it’s the only way they know how. They are trying their hardest though to do the right thing. These characters are what really make this book and series what it is.

If you are a fan of gripping suspense, this book and series are for you.

I want all the strings attached. I want the mess and the neat. Give me all the promises to keep. I really liked this story. You have a young man with a lot of difficult choices to make. To finish school, sign his band to a record deal, his family commitment and the love of his life. This is where that saying “have your cake and eat it too” comes into play. He can’t please everyone. I loved how their relationship made no sense but was perfect. The author did an amazing job. It was well thought out and intense. Calla wasn’t what I expect but I wasn’t disappointed. Very strong lead characters. Definitely give this story a go. I will be browsing the authors page for more.

I was once again pulled right into the story. We start out 10 years ago, Dre is getting ready to make a decision that could change her life. When she gets a call from her fiance her whole world shifts on its axis.

We jump ahead 10 years and Dre is called back home due to an emergency. She ends up staying in town to help her best friend. She ends up coming face-to-face with the man who broke her heart and he looks better than ever.

Erick is surprised to see Dre back in town and he is determined to get her back. It helps that his daughter is friends with her best friends’ kids. As they spend more time together the sparks start to fly again. Will they be able to rekindle what they had and get a HEA?

Overall I really enjoyed this book. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I felt like I had more than one story going on. This is a wonderful young adult book. As a mother of a couple preteens I appreciate that the main character is a boy. It’s a refreshing change and I know my son would enjoy reading this book some day. It is exciting to see a more in-depth story about the magic of Jinns, aka genies.
Liam, the sixteen year old main character sees colors around people whenever they are about to do something bad. He learned early on that this wasn’t normal. So he tries his best to stay away from these colorful smoke or mists around his classmates. But Liam seems to attract trouble pretty much anywhere. When he gets hurt on a school field trip, things start to really get dangerous. What will Liam learn through this experience? I’ll let you find out.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

I especially enjoyed the snarky wit of Andrea. She is a real, take no crap kind of girl! Everyone needs to have a friend that knows them inside and out and that is there for them no matter what.

Witness by Meghan O’Flynn is the ninth book in the Ash Park Novel series. This is rare to say but this series only becomes more intriguing and interesting the deeper it goes. Detective Edward Petrosky is back and has gotten what looks like a simple case. Of course, nothing is as simple as it seems. This case links back to a previous case and leaves many questions for Petrosky to figure out. I will not write about the plot more because I do not want to give any of this thrilling book away. This is filled with mystery, crime, thrills, and intrigue. I really look forward to reading more from this author and this series in the future.
