The Mating Chance (Long Claw Pride Series Book 3 and LumberCats Series Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

The Mating ChanceThe Mating Chance by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Mating Chance is Book Three in the Long Claw Pride Series. It is a second chance, fated mates, paranormal romance that centers around the characters of Boone and Cricket. It is full of shifters, drama, tension, angst, secrets, witty banter, and chemistry. Boone is a mountain lion shifter and part of the Long Claw Clan. When Boone finally feels the mating call and goes in search of his mate it leads him to Cricket. Cricket has already been mated and had a family but unfortunately her mate died. With her focus being on raising her family, it comes as a complete surprise to her when she feels the mating call again. Cricket denies that Boone could be her mate and refuses to accept the attraction between them. Boone is determined to prove that he is her mate and refuses to accept her rejection. And of course, it seems that a human has other plans for Boone and Cricket, and he seems determined to keep them apart. Can Boone and Cricket overcome the obstacles in their way and find love in one another? The small-town mountain setting provides a beautiful backdrop to the love story between two members of mountain lion shifters from different prides. A unique and interesting twist on the usual shifter fated mate’s theme.

Fearless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, Book 5) by KG Fletcher – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Fearless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #5)Fearless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fearless Love is Book Five in The Bennetts of Langston Falls Series. It is a small town, single mom, second chance contemporary romance that centers around the characters of James and Sara. James has just had his heart broken by the woman he thought was the love of his life. He had planned a special night for the two of them and was intending to propose when she broke the devastating news to him that she did not see a future in Langston Falls and was leaving to pursue a career in the FBI. Sara is a travel nurse who has been hired to provide at-home care for James’ dad after he has suffered a heart attack. Her world centers around her eight-year-old son and she has a hard time putting down roots due to the nature of her job. When Sara and her son arrive in Langston Falls, they make a small motel their temporary home until something better comes along. When James learns that Sara and her son are staying in a motel, he wants to help and offers to have them stay with him as his roommates. James has sworn off relationships and is not expecting to find himself so drawn to Sara and the possibility of having a family of his own. Sara is fiercely independent, used to being on her own, and lives like a gypsy so the thought of staying in one place too long does not seem ideal to her. Is there a possibility of a future between James and Sara or will she move on at the first chance she gets? I love that the story is told from both James and Sara’s POV so that it enables a better understanding of each character. This book had love, loss, friendship, family bonds, romance, hope, secrets, drama, angst, and witty banter. Another superbly written book in this series by this talented author.
