Caspian is back for another adventure in the Invisible Magic Wand Series. After showing off his wand, Caspian’s cousin wants one too! His grandpa gives her a wand and then an earthquake happens!
Caspian, his cousin and his grandpa are left to help save themselves and those around them from the earthquake with the help of their wands.
As always, this author’s books have a great storyline and bright pictures! I would highly recommend this book to any teacher or parents who wants to bring out the imagination in their child(ren).

The Sneaky Kitten: Invisible Magic Wand Book FourThe Sneaky Kitten: Invisible Magic Wand Book Four by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a cute book! I have read others in this series and I enjoyed this one as well.
When the main character Caspian and his grandpa are on a walk they discover something that makes him go home and get ready for an adventure where he meets a new furry friend!
The book is very colourful and keeps your attention as you read each page. As a teacher of young children under the age of 5 this book is great for learning about adventures and that sometimes you don’t always succeed on what you intended to do!
Overall I would highly recommend this book to parents and caregivers of young children.

Lucas the Spy Cat (Jake the Growling Dog) by Samantha Shannon – Review by Sarah Devereaux

Lucas the Spy CatLucas the Spy Cat by Samantha Shannon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this cute story. I read this to my almost 5-year-old who is cat obsessed and she loved it. She enjoyed looking at all the beautifully done illustrations and finding the different animals along with Lucas in the pictures. She also thought the activities at the back of the book were cool too.
I think the concept of the story is really cute. When a family pet or neighbourhood pet leaves for the night everyone is always curious about what they do and the idea of putting a camera on them is super cute to find out exactly what they do at night!
This was not my first book by this author, and I have enjoyed her work in the past and knew I wouldn’t be let down by reading another of her books, and I was right.
As a teacher, I will be recommending this book to all of my friends to read to their little ones both in school and at home, and overall highly recommend it.

Just One More Egg (Science Folktales Book 6) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Sarah Devereaux

Just One More EggJust One More Egg by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just One More Egg is a beautiful children’s story and great for all ages as well. This author never disappoints. The story talks about the love of a mama warbler for an egg that was not her own and how even when the egg hatched and caused a bit more work for the mama she still loved and appreciated it just as much as her own eggs that eventually hatched.
As an educator this book has a lot hidden within it. I enjoyed that even though the mama warbler knew the egg/baby was not hers she still cared for it like her own and that she understood it was different but treated it the same. Children can benefit from reading this great example of how we can all be a bit different but in the end should be treated just the same no matter what the circumstances.
I would highly recommend this book to any educator or parent looking for a well written and illustrated story for their class or own child.

Moby Plays the Flute by Eeha Bhatt – Review by Sarah Devereaux

Moby Plays the FluteMoby Plays the Flute by Eeha Bhatt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book.
This book was well written and had a good story mainly meant for children but is a good reminder for young adults and adults as well.
Moby did not enjoy school and did not have the determination to better herself. Her father is in the marines and left her a gift for her birthday. Moby could not understand why the gift did not work. After some time she used effort and determination to figure out how to get it to work and after some time succeeded.
This book has a great lesson built into it and shows you that no matter what if you are determined to do something and don’t give up you can succeed! I really enjoyed this and would highly recommend this to my other Early Childhood Educator friends to read to their class.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

These were really cute books! They are not the first I’ve read by this author and I always get excited seeing new content from her! Overall I really enjoyed these books. The illustrations are beautiful and the story in both can be very relatable for children of a young age.
In both the books the main characters Spike and Conifer work together to overcome each other’s fears and problem-solve to help one another. I read both of these books to my daughter and she loved them. She loved looking at the pictures and pointing to the dinosaurs while I read the stories. They caught her attention as well as my own right away and as an early childhood educator, I am looking forward to introducing these well-written and illustrated stories into my classroom!
I would highly recommend these books to anyone with children or as a gift for a child who loves dinosaurs and reading!

In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 8In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 8 by Valerie Davisson

I really enjoyed this book! This is not my first by this author and it will not be my last! I have not read the others in the series before this one but I know I will be going back and reading them! I really enjoy the characters especially the main character Logan and the way she will not take no for an answer and finds a way to dig deeper instead of giving up.
I love thriller and crime type books so it was no surprise I fell in love with this series and these characters while reading this book. I cannot wait until I can dive into another book by this author and especially in this series! Overall I’d highly recommend this book.

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1) by S.E. Smith – Review by Sarah Devereaux

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1)Something About Aimee by S.E. Smith

This was my first book by this author, but I know it will not be my last. I am always down for a suspense romance book and this one did not disappoint in the least!
This is definitely an opposites attract sort of book but from the perspective of the main characters live two very different lives and immediately develop this connection that cannot go unnoticed by the reader.
I really liked the character development and the twists and turns and drama this book had!

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the beginning and found it difficult to put down (when of course I needed to because well.. life!) I am looking forward to reading more in the future by this author!

Ballet School Rumours: An Amberwood Hall Ballet School AdventureBallet School Rumours: An Amberwood Hall Ballet School Adventure by Eleanor Dixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this children’s chapter book! I have read others by this author, and I enjoyed this story line especially since it had an introduction to paranormal fiction and had a mystery/suspense side to it as well! As a reader this kept my attention, and I was not able to figure out the ending.
I think many younger kids reading maybe never having read a paranormal or mystery/suspense book before may become hooked with this genre! Especially since it has friendships and rumours and school and of course ballet added in as well.
This being the third book in the series I still understood what was happening and it can be read as a standalone, but I am excited to go back and read the beginning of the series as well!
Overall, as a children’s paranormal fiction book I would highly recommend this for young readers.

I really enjoyed this book! As an Early Childhood Educator, this is a great book to teach young children about science and that one person’s trash may be another’s treasure.
This was not my first book by this author, and I am looking forward to more in the future and reading them to my students and my daughter. The illustrations are beautiful and keep the attention of the children having the story read to them.
Overall I highly recommend this book to anyone with children or any teachers and Early Childhood staff in childcare!

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13, #4)Burned by Fire by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was the second book I read by this author and just like the first, it did not disappoint! I love her style of writing and that the books draw you in. I read this book over a very short period of time simply because it was impossible to put down. I love the way she builds her characters and that as the reader I can relate to some of the things going on in their lives and that helps me to feel like I am a part of the story too.
Sol and Ember were great characters and the connection they developed and the similar interest they had made them fit perfectly together. I really enjoyed how the author threw in how Ember had a long-time crush and that had the chance of becoming more.
Overall I highly recommend this book and any others you may come across by this author as they will not disappoint you!

This was my first book by this author and WOW! I am a HUGE thriller and suspense fan and I really enjoyed this. It was fast-paced and action-packed! It was also a relatively quick read and I did not want to put it down (even when I had to), plus the bonus of it being set in a sunny and warm place was perfect too!

This will not be my last by this author and I am looking forward to finding out what happens next for Nora! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers!

Toby: The (Mostly) True Story of a Former Bad Dog by Stephanie Wilson Peterson – Review by Sarah Devereaux

Toby: The (Mostly) True Story of a Former Bad DogToby: The (Mostly) True Story of a Former Bad Dog by Stephenie Wilson Peterson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a cute book! As an Early Childhood Educator who often sees school-aged children sometimes struggle to find an early reader chapter book that interests them I think this book fits perfectly for any animal lover, especially a child who has a cat or a dog (or both). I enjoyed that the chapters were short and easy to stop if a young child was having some difficulty and getting frustrated and I enjoyed the story overall!
I also think the story is relatable for kids because Toby was influenced by the next-door neighbour aka the cat which many kids can relate to with peer pressure in school but when reading it may not realise that’s what they are learning about which is a bonus in the eyes of a parent!
I will be recommending this book to family and friends as well as fellow educators working in the school system and parents wanting to help their kids succeed in reading!

Flame and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns Book 1) by Kay L. Moody – Review by Sarah Devereaux

Flame and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns, #1)Flame and Crystal Thorns by Kay L. Moody
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Flame and Crystal Thorns is the first book in the Fae and Crystal Thorns series, a young adult fantasy romance series.
I am not a huge fan of fantasy but I did enjoy this book. It kept my attention and had a mystery and suspense side to it as well as enemies to lovers (which is always a plus and one of my favourite styles of books). I am very excited to see where the series goes and to follow along with the excellent character and world building this author has done! Chloe really began to grow on me and I want to see where she goes as a mortal in Faerie.
Overall I can say anyone who loves fantasy will love this book and even those with fantasy a little further down their favourite genre list will enjoy this book too!

I enjoyed the way the author included the main character Caspian helping those he met along his way to school while he tried to figure out what the message from his know-it-all pencil was about. The illustrations were well done and caught mine and my daughter’s attention as we read the story together!
Overall I would highly recommend this book to anyone with children!

What a cute story! I loved that this included a science experiment! As an early childhood educator, this book is perfect for a childcare or kindergarten or grade 1 setting! Everyone loves a story about Mermaids and including a science experiment that you can reproduce in the classroom is a great way to get children engaged in not only the story but also that they can do exactly like what the characters did!

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I will be recommending it to all my ECE and teacher friends! The illustrations were great too!

Bella-An Appalachian Love Story & Jagged Dawn-Logan's BeginningsBella-An Appalachian Love Story & Jagged Dawn-Logan’s Beginnings by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an interesting story! It is my first by this author and both stories included in this book are prequels to the author’s Logan McKenna Mysteries Series, so I thought this was a good place to start! I really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the characters and their stories before diving into the series!
Both stories are well written with Bella: An Appalachian Love Story taking you back in the past and introducing you to Logan’s grandmother and her story and Jagged Dawn especially helps to build the character of Logan and what she has gone through.

Overall I would recommend these stories and I cannot wait to begin reading the series!

Depending On YouDepending On You by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was not my first time reading this author, and just like last time, it definitely will not be my last!
I did not want to put this book down, of course, this resulted in my reading it very fast and now causing me a book hangover!
The characters, the story, everything about this book grabbed me from the beginning. I could relate to this book on so many different levels and that is what I love about this author! The fact that I too have a lifelong friend whom I have had ups and downs with helped me understand the story that much more and this author writes relatable stories that get you in all the feels and keep you wanting more which is exactly what this book did.
As always I cannot wait to read what comes next from this author because I know I will not be disappointed!

I really enjoyed this book. As someone working in the medical field I jumped on this book because I knew it would have characters that I would enjoy and could somewhat understand and relate to and I was not wrong about that! Plus with its short length it was easy to read in one sitting.
And of course, some steamy romance involving a doctor, YES PLEASE! I really enjoyed the connection between Emily and Dr Desmond and I cannot wait to read more of this series!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book One:
Journeys Through SpaceTime is the first installment in The Journeys Through series.

As a reader who does not often read sci-fi, I actually, really enjoyed this book. Although there are quite a few characters and different points of view to follow at the beginning and it is a bit confusing, I enjoyed the character building and how it kept my attention and, in the end, all came together.
The story had a very interesting plot and I enjoyed how the author brought all the characters together.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it. I cannot wait to read the second instalment Journeys Through TimeSpace.

Book Two:
Journeys Through TimeSpace is book 2 in the Journey Through series and just like book 1 it did not disappoint! I loved how readers learned more about the characters throughout this second installment in this series. It captured my attention and kept me wanting to know what happened to the characters when I had to be away from reading it.
Overall, I would highly recommend this series and book to those who love sci-fi and those who are looking to step outside their comfort book genre and want to read something fun, adventurous with a great storyline and awesome character building!
I can’t wait to read what comes next!

This was a really cute story! I really enjoyed the military side to this story and the bond that Gina had with the other women! I also like that the author included topics that are harder to read about but that need to be talked about as well.
The romance was cute and predictable but the type of story I really enjoy when it comes to romance books! Overall I would highly recommend this story for anyone who likes romance with a military storyline.

What another fantastic read by this author! I do not think I have found anything I haven’t loved by her! The way she writes just catches your attention from the beginning sucks you in and keeps you wanting more.
This is by far one of my favourite series by her! She has become a new favourite of mine and her books are a guaranteed read no matter what the storyline is! The mafia storyline connected with the other books in this series has been amazing and this book with Marco and Elena was no different! It only took me a few days to read it just like the others and it did not disappoint in any way!
If you are looking for an amazing book series with the mafia, suspense, twists, and turns I highly recommend this book and the others in the series! You will not be disappointed!

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I liked the way the book switched back and forth between the main characters and I enjoyed that because it was the first book we got quite a bit of background info on the characters before we got to dive into the story. The twists in the storyline kept my attention and kept me wanting to keep reading. I found it hard to put the book down and read it quickly in just two sittings.
This was the first book I had read by this author, and it will not be my last. I am hooked on this series now and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Swipe Right to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes, #6)Swipe Right to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Swipe Right to Bite is the sixth book in the New Orleans Nocturnes. I haven’t read any of this author’s previous books but I didn’t feel like I had missed anything by picking this series up at book six.
This is not my typical type of book, but I was looking for something a bit different. I am not a huge paranormal fan but when I saw it involved romance, I thought I would give it a try, and I am happy I did.
This book was hard to put down and there were many times I lost track of the time while I was reading it, especially when reading before bed!
I enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers storyline that had lots of humor with it.
Overall I will definitely be picking up other books by this author in this series and would highly recommend this book if you enjoy paranormal and romance.

Tally and the Angel Book Two, CanadaTally and the Angel Book Two, Canada by Eleanor Dixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Tally and the Angel series is a middle-grade children’s fantasy series that even adults will enjoy! I was so excited to get my hands on this second book in the series and it did not disappoint me in any way!
I loved how the author wrote the first book and couldn’t wait to find out what the next adventure would be! Tally is a curious young girl and with the help of her angel, she has the strength and courage to have a lot more adventures in book 2 which is set in the Yukon in Canada!
Even though the character is a younger age I really have enjoyed this series as an adult! The adventure that is told and the detail about the location the book takes place helps even me to be right there in the story with the character! I learned so much about the Yukon that no history book would have told me in school!
I would highly recommend this book, and this series, to anyone who enjoys reading books about adventure. I would also recommend it to any parents looking for a clean fun middle-grade chapter book series they can read alongside their child! Both adult and child alike will love this series!

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite, #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author has done it again! Another five-star read from one of my new favourite authors!
Just like the first and second in the series this third, Born in Darkness, has blown my mind and it was an unput-a-downable read. The author knows how to make her writing addictive and keep you wanting more. The history she gives her characters helps to keep you wanting to come back and to continue to read other books in not only this series but also this author’s other books as well. Although this book is part of the series I feel it could be read as a standalone because of the background of the characters given but I would still highly recommend reading the others in the series!
She could write anything, and I would 100% read it! I absolutely cannot wait until the next book is in my hands to read because I will be dropping everything, just like I did with this third in the series, and reading it immediately.

Priscida Finds Greatness: In Herself and in OthersPriscida Finds Greatness: In Herself and in Others by Constance Mays
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a cute and adorable children’s book! I absolutely loved the way this was written! Talking to children about the important things in life and teaching them that “greatness is contagious”. The book also talks about perseverance which is a big word for kids but is broken down and explained in a way that kids can understand and that they can relate to!
The author has done a great job of having the main character as a cute cat named Priscida which will draw readers young and old into the story and help children to understand because they can relate to the character. The illustrations are adorable too!
I would highly recommend this book for any children learning about the importance of doing great things in their lives and parents and teachers who want to explain it in a fun way!

Conveniently Yours is book one in the Titans of Manhattan series by this author and it was really well written.

When the main male character Caspian needs to get married in order to keep something very important to him, and the main female character Paisley needs somewhere to live and money to help care for her mom Caspian gives her a million-dollar offer she cannot refuse.
