Witch Charm by Sonia Parin – Review by Colleen Noyes

Witch Charm (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #4)Witch Charm by Sonia Parin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Witch Charm is the fourth book in the MacKenzie coven mystery series by Sonia Parin. I enjoyed this book as I did the previous ones, but I just feel like something is missing I can’t quite put my finger on. I’m enjoying all of the banter between Lexie, Luna, Jonathan, Octavia, Mirabelle, and Catherine but I just feel like there’s some thing that could take this series over the edge and make it that much better. The author does a great job of writing and there were only minor grammatical errors. I found plenty of humor but not quite as much “mystery as I’m looking for. I will continue to read the series however and see where it goes from here.

Witch Cast (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #3)Witch Cast by Sonia Parin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The third book in the Mackenzie Coven series keeps on track with the previous two. It is a cute little paranormal cozy mystery with new fun characters. It’s neat to see Lexie‘s growth and that she’s really starting to come in to her own. I can’t wait to find out the background between Jonathan and Morgana you continue to read the shenanigans of Lexie, Luna, Maribel, Catherine, and now the new and wonderful Octavia.

Witch Indeed (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #2) by Sonia Parin – Review by Colleen Noyes

Witch Indeed (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #2)Witch Indeed by Sonia Parin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Lol Witch Indeed is the second book in the series and picks up where Witch Inheritance left off. Lexie has a new companion as you would expect, a cat named Luna. Reading the shenanigans that these two encounter and the extent of their back-and-forth spirited rivalry will make you laugh out loud and have a smile on your face the entire time. Lexie is slowly discovering what it means to be a witch and learning new parts of it. She still hasn’t embraced it fully, but that doesn’t stop her from diving in head first. I enjoyed the addition of Luna and seeing how she added to the plot. It was nice to get a glimpse of Morg (Lexie’s mom) and I have a feeling there is a lot of history there that will come in future books. This story had humor, Witchery, and some mystery. I like the concept of the books, but am hoping that the mystery aspect gets a little bigger role. I feel like each story is missing that suspense/cozy mystery hook I was expecting. Overall, it’s a great series so far that I plan to continue to read.

Witch Inheritance (Mackenzie Coven Mystery Book 1) by Sonia Parin – Review by Colleen Noyes

Witch Inheritance (Mackenzie Coven Mystery #1)Witch Inheritance by Sonia Parin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Witch Inheritance was my first book by Sonia Parin. Poor Lexie has been trying to stay away from the “family business” but when she is suddenly left with no choice, this book takes you on a journey through a cozy little mystery. This book has mystery, secrets, and some great humor. It’s a very light read that you can easily enjoy on a Sunday afternoon. The authors writing style is one I enjoyed and I look forward to seeing what else the series has to offer. I would’ve preferred a little more backstory on each of the characters since this is the first in the series but I’m hoping as we get into the next book will see that. If you enjoy humor and cozy mysteries you will love this.
