A Dress To Remember: A Fairy Tale by K.L. Small – Review by Tammy Wood

A Dress To Remember: A Fairy TaleA Dress To Remember: A Fairy Tale by K.L. Small
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I thought this was a very well written YA fantasy.

The premise of the story, is a spoiled princess wants a one of a kind dress for her coming out party. The kingdom is facing some hard times, but she is oblivious. She quickly realizes the gravity of what is going on, and does what she can to help her kingdom.

A coming of age story in a fantasy backdrop. Loved it!

His Forever Muse (The Echo Series Book 2) by C.R. Alam – Review by Tammy Wood

His Forever Muse (Book 2 of The Echo Series)His Forever Muse by C.R. Alam
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I loved how this book was woven from the first of the Echo Series (Echoing Hearts). This story was a bit of a mystery as well.

Callie and Brandon grew up together and haven’t seen each other in years. By chance they run into each other at a resort in Africa and reconnect. Brandon had been in love with Callie when she went off to college and completely cut him out of her life. She is currently dealing with a lot in her life and tried to build up walls again, but Brandon can’t help but tear them down each time.

This is a story of perserverance, love and found family.

Cry Baby (Pierce Brothers Book 4) by Belinda Williams – Review by Tammy Wood

Cry Baby (Pierce Brothers, #4)Cry Baby by Belinda Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a cute romance that hits many different tropes. Boss to lover, Sunny vs. Grumpy, and a little just spit it out. I thought Belinda Williams did a great job of weaving these together. I had not read the previous Pierce Brothers, but works as a stand alone. There was not a lot of spice, but the spicy parts were well written and fit with the story, not just popping up out of nowhere, and I like in a book.

When Noah’s best friend suddenly passes away and leave him with her daughter Amelia, he needs help. Enter, Amy! Amy is a glass half full kinda gal and Noah has always seen the dark side since his mother passed away. Amy works hard to show Noah there is more to life than the secluded one he has built for himself. When working through his issues, she finds she may have been burrying some of her own.

Creatures of the Night by C.A. King – Review by Tammy Wood

Creatures of the NightCreatures of the Night by C.A. King
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I think C.A. King had a real opportunity to make Zoe a real heroin. A great chance to make a strong leading lady, but she spent the entire book confused about who she was, what she was doing and who she wanted to be. This in turn kept me a bit confused throughout the story as well. Ended up getting tricked by multiple men in her life and just never really developed into a solid character. The men were extremely unlikeable. I was also unsure how much time passed in this book. It read like it was a matter of days, but then some instances eluded to it being a very long time.

Echoing Hearts (The Echo Series Book 1) by C.R. Alam – Review by Tammy Wood

Echoing Hearts (Book 1 of The Echo Series)Echoing Hearts by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

C.R. Alam did an amazing job of grabbing your attention and never letting it go. Rae Allen has not had a great example of successful love in her past, and she is a bit tarnished to the idea of falling in love. She is a successful travel blogger with an amazing set of friends, she is good doing life on her own. Dean, he has been broken in the past, and decided he didn’t need a woman in his life. When they meet, things might change.
I love this enemies to lovers, love triangle story. Like, most romances, you have an idea where the story is going, but this journey was definitely not a straight path forward. Lots of detours, dead ends, and u turns lead to a captivating, real feel story that you can’t put down. I cannot wait to read more!

Shore Lodge by Susan Specht Oram – Review by Tammy Wood

Shore Lodge: A high-stakes psychological thriller (The Millersville series)Shore Lodge: A high-stakes psychological thriller by Susan Specht Oram
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I know that there are real people out there like Dusty, but I hope I am not raising them. Jacklyn worked hard her whole life building a legacy at her gardening store, alongside her husband. When her husband dies, she finds herself lost and unsure how to move forward. Her son quickly takes advantage of her and she finds herself in a situation where she must fight for her life.
I felt that, while the premise of the story was well thought out and interesting, it felt disjointed at times. Almost like parts of the story were skipped and all of a sudden something else was happening. In my opinion, there could have been a little bit more development at the beginning to help understand how things broke down. Dusty was a horrible person, but Jacklyn must have trusted him previous to this and we don’t have that background to understand. We also don’t have any background on her children’s relationship with each other and I think that would have been helpful to understand why the daughter went along with everything.
I did enjoy the story, and I really liked Jacklyn’s character. She is a tough lady. I hope I have half the grit she has.
