Shattered (Shattered Hearts Series Book 1) by Nicole Banks – Review by Michelle King

Shattered (Shattered Hearts #1)Shattered by Nicole Banks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an excellent start to the Shattered Hearts Series! I actually read this book twice in the matter of a week. While this story revolves around Jasmine and Angel, it ultimately is the story of a group of friends that have known each other forever and there are so many things going on, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything before I start book 2!

Angel swore he would always be there for Jasmine. Since childhood, he has been her protector. But once he joins the marines, he can no longer uphold his promise and tragedy strikes, not only in Jasmine’s life but also in his own. Years later he returns home to find everything has changed. Jasmine is no longer the happy, innocent young girl he left, but a full grown woman that he can’t seem to resist. But there is too much baggage between the two of them that keeps pulling them apart. They each have one single act, one single moment in their lives that has irrevocably changed them. That has made one stop trusting others and one stop trusting themselves. One moment, that when it returns to your thoughts, terrifies you enough that it takes you to the depths of hell and back over and over – in your daydreams and in your nightmares. Can they fight their way through it all and finally be together? Or is it all just too much?

This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. You can feel the pain and suffering. You can feel it in your heart when they smile. And this is not the end. There is so much more to explore. What about Kate and Chase? What is Tony’s deal? Who is Marcus? I can’t wait to find out all the answers in the next two books in this series! I am completely emotionally invested in the lives of all these characters. Nicole Banks has me hooked!
