The Challenger (The Hustlers Trilogy Book 2) by Rowan Rossler – Review by Jessica Stone

I’ve read sport romance before, a few football teen angst reads but this is my first adult professional sports read, and I’ll say I was pleasantly surprised, this book did not disappoint!

Flynn, once a pro tennis player is now a motivational speaker, and an author who’s at the top of her career, or so it seems from the outside, but even though she’s been so successful Flynn has her own battles that still need to be fought, she just has to find the will and courage to do it. Hiding the fact that her life is seemingly falling apart has been easy, until one day a chance meeting at her therapist office puts her in the path of Chavez and that’s where their story begins.

Chavez, has it all, a great career as a professional tennis player, the imagine, the looks, the charisma, but does he really? One day he just disappears without a word to his fans as to why. Unbeknownst to everyone Chavez is going through some rough family stuff, But now Chavez is ready to make a comeback, but to do that he’s going to need some help, that’s where Flynn comes in, he recruits her to be his coach and Immediately sparks fly between the two.

But with Flynn’s life currently falling apart and Chavez family problems a not so distant past, you could have guessed that’s not the end of this story. Can Flynn take control and finally have the life she wants and the freedom to write what she wants and let go of the pasta
, and can Chavez start his career again and do what he loves or is it to late for both of them?

Goodness, I love themmm, I immediately fell in love with both of these charismatic characters, Flynn is a hot head Latino with a even hotter body and Flynn is a hard headed strong willed woman who won’t take no crap. The banter between the two characters is wonderful, the relationship they build has so much tension it’s palpable.

This book is the second on a trilogy, it can be read as a stand-alone but it does have characters from the previous novel in it as well as these characters making appearances in the following novel. I can’t wait to read the other story’s from this author!
