Carmen has spent most of her life with ink on her fingers and a dangerously high pile of books and newspapers by her side.

She has worked as a newspaper reporter on two continents and always dreamt of becoming a novelist and screenwriter.

When she found herself crouched under her dining table, typing away on a novel between two earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand, she realised she was hooked for life.

Born in Ukraine, Maria grew up in Brooklyn, New York hearing about her great grandfather’s experience serving as the head of the Red Army’s 47th division field hospital on the first Belarusian front during World War II, and later as the Chief Surgeon of the Soviet sector of occupied Berlin.

All of the ‘soul’ or if you prefer, ‘ghost’ stories take place in the early to mid 1800s, around the time when the graveyard opened. It was a time when folks were coming from all parts of the world to find their American dream. This book contains many of them.The first twelve chapters are their stories. Chapter 13½ is mine. I’m not superstitious… 9¾ was already taken. This cemetery is important to me in another way. It is our plan that my wife, Carol, and myself will be buried here and I plan to talk to anyone who walks by me. Enjoy!

I have always enjoyed speaking with souls and writing their stories for those wishing to read them. In these times of Covid 19 restrictions I have been walking through my favorite cemetery because it is “The Road Less Travelled” in these times of infection and social distancing. Yes, I wear a mask when live humans walk close to me, however, most of the ‘friends’ with whom I speak are not prone to infection or disease any more.

ELISABETH MARRION was born August 1948, in Hildesheim Germany. Her father was a Corporal in the Royal Air Force and stationed after the War in the British occupied zone in Germany, where he met her mother Hilde, a war widow.

As a child Elisabeth enjoyed reading novels and plays by Oscar Wilde, Thornton Wilder and never lost her love of reading novels by Ernest Hemingway, or short stories by Guy de Maupassant.

In 1969 she moved to England, where she met her late husband David. Together they established a clothing importing company.  Their business gave them the opportunity to travel and work in the Sub Continent and the Far East. A large part of their working life was spent in Bangladesh, where they helped to establish a school in the rural part of the country, training young people in trades such as sign writing, electrical work and repair of computers and televisions.

 For inspiration she put on her running shoes for a long coastal run near the New Forest, where she now lives.

Rachel Huffmire grew up in the middle of a Utah wheat field where she found plenty of time to read and dream. Her mom paid her a dollar per classic novel she read so, in a quest to amass a small fortune, Rachel read over 200 classic novels in elementary school.

After dabbling with writing novels and stage plays, she ran to the BYU bookstore for her first job. Behind the register, she watched local authors hold book signings and began dreaming up plots of her own.
