Group Hug by Ariella Talix – Review by Brandy Rymer

Group HugGroup Hug by Ariella Talix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is for mature audiences only. It had a great plot and storyline, the dogs in the book were just so adorable, and the characters were easy to fall in love with. Weston comes in as the owner of the house looking for at least one roommate, someone who must love dogs. Two people showed up for the room just about at the same time, and both loved dogs. We get to meet Petra and Callum right from the start of the book, each with their own story of what’s going on in their lives. As for Petra, I was intrigued by the mystery that was unfolding with her ex-fiancé and his friend and was scared that she would have a horrible accident, thank goodness the guy got what he deserved. Callum has such a fun, big family, who I fell in love with immediately, and who were so supportive of his hopes and dreams of being the best chef ever. Weston was someone who listens to people’s problems for a living, what a great combination adding in two new roommates, and Petra’s dog Gus would be. This story took some crazy twists and turns that I was not expecting but does have such a great ending.

It Just Comes Natural (Powder River Pack Series) by Brooke May – Review by Brandy Rymer

It Just Comes Natural (Powder River Pack Book 3)It Just Comes Natural by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the Powder River series and tells us Macy and Brandon’s story. I adored meeting Miranda’s father and reading about the story of how her parents met, fell in love, and then were separated. We get to see what a day in Macy’s life is like outside of working the bar and keeping Derek in line with his grumpy self, well until Annabelle comes back into his life in book one of the series. I love how the author takes us back in time to the beginning of each of the stories of the characters, but then brings us to the present time. Each of the books overlaps in their storylines, but each time we get to see it from our main character’s point of view. I have been loving reading through each of these character’s stories, but I especially loved reading about what a strong female character Macy is, and how Miranda got all of her energy and mischievousness from her father. This series is a must-read if you love werewolves and mythical stories with a new twist.

Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Series) by Brooke May – Review by Brandy Rymer

Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack #2)Call of the Alpha by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Powder River series and introduces us to Mason and Riley’s story. Mason is the alpha of the pack, and meets his mate, Riley, at the very beginning of the story. This happens right after his brother Miles meets his mate, her best friend, Alexa, as they both walk into the bar together. We also get to meet Mason’s son, Archer, who he had with a woman who was not his mate but was a drug abuser. Archer’s mom signed away all of her rights as soon as she was done having him, thank goodness because Mason came and picked up his son immediately and took charge of being a single dad. Archer was Mason’s everything, he had no room for women in his life until he met his mate, who he hopes will love Archer just as much as he does. Riley is the perfect woman for Mason, but she doesn’t know anything about the existence of werewolves, will she be able to accept him for who and what he is? I was so excited to understand what Riley’s big brother’s secret was, it was a great way to introduce our next set of characters for the next book in the series as well.

A Second Chance (Powder River Pack Series) by Brooke May – Review by Brandy Rymer

A Second ChanceA Second Chance by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Powder River Pack series, where we are introduced to a group of werewolves and their mates. In this series, only males can be werewolves, but they are mated to females that are regular humans. Derek and Annabelle met while younger and dated for a few years before Annabelle was forced to move due to a bad marriage and her parents getting divorced. Annabelle’s dad seems to have a problem with people, no one seems to make him happy including his daughter and ex-wife. As we progress through the story, we find out why Annabelle’s dad hates Derek, and life in general and takes this anger out on everyone around him. He wants everyone to be miserable just as much as he is and has no problem going to extreme measures to achieve this. This was an amazing first book in this series and introduces a ton of great characters that I am so excited to get to know more in the next books.

Resisting Nature (Powder River Pack Series) by Brooke May – Review by Brandy Rymer

Resisting NatureResisting Nature by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 4 of the Powder River Pack series and tells the story of Alexa and Miles. The long wait is finally over, we get to find out why Alexa was so hot and cold towards Miles, and what happened to her in the past that has caused her to be so damaged when it comes to relationships. I loved the drama that this book was filled with and the thrill of trying to figure out who was watching Alexa. The characters were amazing, it was awesome meeting and getting to know the newest characters, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I’m excited to see which character’s story will come next.

Betrayal of the Gods by Martin Ferguson – Review by AnnaMarie Boumans

Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Book 5)Betrayal of the Gods by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the dynamic between Matt and Adam. I loved how I love the mythology references in this story. I was able to enjoy this as a standalone not having read the previous books, which I feel like I might need to read those as well. Enjoyed the story and want to know more about Matt and Adam. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

The Human Mating Site, Box Set 1 (The Human Mating Site Series) by B.L. Wilde – Review by Shea Gilkerson

The Human Mating Site Box Set 1 : A Steamy, Dating Humour Novella's 1-4The Human Mating Site Box Set 1 : A Steamy, Dating Humour Novella’s 1-4 by B.L. Wilde
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a series of novellas regarding Bella and her out-of-left-field chance to rediscover herself as a newly single woman in her 30’s. The first man involved in her journey is Mr. Wimp, her philandering ex-husband who kicks off her self discovery journey. Not only did he cheat on her, but he cheated on her with someone who is virtually her clone – her name even matches! The big difference is that NEW Bella is using Mr. Wimp for his money, what a shame, huh?

This series is about Bella and the paths she takes to reclaim her life and discover who she is without her slimy ex. Her friends are hilarious and fun to read, her dates teach her things about what she is and isn’t willing to deal with in relationships, and how she grows through her new experiences. While there is spice and heat in multiple scenes, the story is really about what she learns about herself throughout her encounters.

These experiences include dates, friends with benefits, just friends after friends with benefits, and a multitude of friends and acquaintances showing up to help her through the hiccups of dating strangers at just the right times.

After Mr. Wimp, we meet Mr. Smooth, sure thing Liam who is fun, funny, charming, and a sure thing. He’s a fun start to re entering the world of being a single woman, and ends up also being great friend material. While he isn’t as sure as Bella is that they aren’t made to be together, she joins a dating site and meets Jack. He is quite the charmer and Bella is interested…despite Liam warning her that he is nothing but a heartbreaker.

Once Liam was proven right by Jack, Bella takes a girls trip. On this trip, she matches up with an absolute gorgeous specimen of a man who is dubbed “Mr. Kinky”. In addition to being nice to look at, Jensen is very up front about his kinks with Bella and gives her time to think about it before and if she’s willing to participate before he just springs it on her as a surprise. After researching, she finds she IS interested and has a spicy night with him. While it was a great night, Bella decides she can’t live his kink life full time and is back on her journey for the right one.

On to the next set!

Song of Earth and Claws (Faelands Series) by Lena Abram – Review by Brandy Rymer

Song of Earth and ClawsSong of Earth and Claws by Lena Abram
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Song of Earth and Claws did start a little slow, it took me a short while to get the gist of what it was about, but the build-up of information was key to understanding the story. As I continued to read along, the book started picking up the pace, and by the time I was a quarter of the way in, I couldn’t stop reading. I needed to continue to read on, I was so invested in the characters and what was going to happen to them. Lannahi was an amazing choice for the heroine of this book, and the romance between her and Ashared was something I had been hoping for right from their first meeting! I felt so bad for Lannahi in the way that everyone treated her throughout the story, she had to fight for everything in life, being looked past as weak due to her love of singing and the arts. Boy, was I impressed by the end of the book, she turns out to be everything that I had hoped for and more. I loved the thrill of this read so much, the different types of characters in the book were a refreshing take on mythical creatures. The dramatic battles and the rules of the kingdoms were a lot to learn in the beginning, but once I got into the book, I completely understood the need for all the logistics to follow along with the storyline. I am so glad that I kept on reading because otherwise, I would have missed out on a fantastic book. I hope that there will be more books with these characters, I am so invested in hearing more adventures with them all, and I want more!
