I read this story within a couple of hours, I could not put it down the second I started reading about Truly and all of the unfortunate incidents that continually followed her throughout her life. C. A. King has written a magnificent story that kept me guessing throughout the entire book, trying to put all the pieces together along with the detectives, Jeff and Miranda, who were trying to connect the 2 accidents that seemed a little too coincidental. I loved that as we go through the story, we understand the characters as we go from Truly’s past 9-year-old self to the present time, and get to put the story together like picking up the bread crumbs. You don’t want to miss even one piece or else you may not be able to follow along the path you are being led. This tale will cause you to go through so many emotions, from fear to anger, to distrust, and disbelief, not knowing what is real and what is a part of a young girl’s imagination. This is a must-read that will have you on the edge of your seat hoping that Charma really does come through for Truly.

This is a feel-good romance and a perfect ending for The Balefire Series. Tam DeRudder Jackson has done it again in Stay For Me, by writing a very steamy, page-turning story that I could not put down from the second I opened the book. I have not been a big fan of Garrett throughout this series, hating him at times for trying to mess up everyone else’s happiness, since his own romance with Olivia had failed. Well everyone deserves a second chance, don’t they, even Garrett right? This was a great continuation, especially following the famous Balefire band, reuniting with all of our favorite characters and seeing how their own relationships are progressing. I love the spark that ignites between Garrett and Olivia, they are so perfectly matched together, and I am so happy to see the entire band finally get their happily-ever-after. Even if you’ve never read any of The Balefire Series books, they are so amazing that they could stand alone if you started with this book, but I highly recommend you go back and restart at the beginning once you’re done, you wouldn’t want to miss each of the band members stories of love, loss, and reconnections.

Liza Snow’s book Obedience had me at the edge of my seat from the first page! There are so many twists and turns, that you never know what’s coming next. I love the characters and the deep understanding that you get from reading Chandler and Cassandra’s points of view. Right from the start I was cheering for Cassandra to get her idol, the magnificent, high-flying Chandler, the master of the silks. I loved the push and pull that these two characters went through, the sexual tension could be cut with a knife as they go back and forth as they got to work together and get to know each other. No matter how much Chandler tried to deny his desire for Cassandra to protect her, the more she wanted him. The more he tried to push her away, the stronger the sexual tension grew. The setting of the story is so beautifully portrayed that I felt like I was right there watching all of the circus acts as well as all the practices with the silks, on the edge of my seat praying no one fell, or had any mishaps. I kept wondering about Cassandra’s mysterious past, and her Uncle who was in prison. What is Chandler hiding in his own personal past that he is trying to protect Cassandra from, and why does his father hate her so? Could their pasts be connected deeper than the two realize, and if so will they ever be able to have their happily ever after? You’ll have to read the book to find out, I’m not spoiling it for you! So excited for the next book in this series to come out in October, the wait is killing me!!!

A Curse of Ash and Iron by Christine Norris is a fantastic story of curses, magic, and a great twist on the classic Cinderella. I loved the character development, as I got to know Benjamin (Ben) Grimm and Eleanor (Ellie) Banneker starting in their childhood. These two were an inseparable pair, hiding out in Ellie’s attic, and constantly getting up to mischief, until the day that Ben’s mom got fired by Ellie’s terrible stepmother for no known reason. Several years later Ben happens to see Ellie, both all grown up, in a theatre that his Dad ran and employed Ben in, amongst other jobs Ben had, all dressed in a beautiful gown and accompanied by her stepmother, Olivia, and her stepsister, Rebecca. As the two reconnect, without the knowledge of Olivia and Rebecca, Ellie is shocked that Ben recognizes her, which she will explain upon their subsequent encounter. Ben is unbelieving of Ellie’s story that her stepmother has cursed her and her father, believing more in the mechanics of things, that he can physically see or touch. As the story progresses, Ben comes to the realization that Ellie is correct, now will they be able to work together to break the curse that Olivia has cast upon Ellie and her father before the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, or will they be bound in their fates forever? I absolutely loved this steampunk version of Cinderella, the geniusness of making Ben a mechanical genius who has a knack for the illusionary just adds to the mysteriousness of this amazing story. This book had me reading straight through from beginning to end, excited to see who would persevere, the evil stepmother Olivia, or our wonderful heroine Ellie.

From the moment I picked up Natalina Reis’s book Foxy Tails I could not put it down. The action begins right from the beginning of the book as you get to know your main character Huli the nine-tailed fox as he’s running for his life. His character was so well developed right from the start that there was no misunderstanding of his personality, he was cocky, very sexual, and he outright loved men, which is what got him into trouble in the first place. Shockingly his best friend, Ling Ling, was a female warrior who stood up for Huli no matter what mischief he got himself into. We get to meet the mysterious healer Xiao Ying by chance when he saves Huli’s life not once but twice in the first few chapters of the book. I love the way Natalina uses such great descriptions of the surroundings that you can paint a mental picture in your mind. The way she develops the characters it’s so hard to decide if you love them or hate them because you’re so wrapped up in their lives and their stories, you just are there along for the ride, with no time to think. I love the progression that Natalina takes with this book, the unexpectedness of what happens just keeps you wanting more, as I said I just couldn’t put the book down until it was finished. This is a great read, but not for the younger minds, that is for sure. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the intricacies of this tale, and want to read more from Natlina Reis!

I have been anxiously awaiting this next book in the Hidden Valley Elite Book Series, and Isla Vaughn has definitely made it worth the wait! Riley and Cole are at each other’s throats right from the beginning, they picked up right where they left off in the last book. It’s like it when you’re watching an amazing movie and they end right in the middle of a good part, cliffhanger!!! Well let me tell you, do not wait to jump back in because the fireworks are going to continue to go off with Cole and Riley! Cole has decided to pass off his feelings for Riley by convincing himself he’s not interested in her, but we all know that’s not true at all, now is it…Riley overhears the incriminating conversation and decides it’s game on! Who will win the battle of love and hate, Cole or Riley? Will Cole figure out who Riley and her Mom are and what they’re up to or will Riley be able to distract him from finding anything out? I am so excited to read the next book and see who will be the focus, will we continue with Cole and Riley or move on to one of the other characters? Read on my friends to find out, I know I couldn’t put my book down the second I started it, I have a hunch you’ll be the same. Happy reading everyone!

C. R. Alam has done it once again! True to her nature she has written another steamy, romance novel that follows in The Echo Series. Not only was I excitedly awaiting this newest tale in the series to come out I was so ecstatic to find out it was finally going to find a love interest for the fun-loving Chris Sullens, hotel mogel extraordinaire. I have loved his character since he was introduced in the first Echo Series book when he helped to bring our original love birds together. You will love the fire that burns between Chris Sullens and Rowan Kelly as they fight their obvious attraction to one another, and try not to make a bigger mess out of Rowan’s crumbling inn. Of course, when Rowan has Christ step in to play the role of her loving fiance will the fireworks go off, or will the two kill each other first? Read on to see what ensues…

Nadija Mujagic’s voice is so memorable in this memoir that I felt I was right there with her during the Bosnian War in Sarajevo. I was in tears as I read the true tales of her sorrowful experience. I cannot even imagine having to grow up so fast, due to all of the horrors she had to see and live through. What a fantastic job she has done in putting her experience into her own words as if she is right here retelling me the woes of her experience. I was in awe that someone so young could live to tell her story. This is absolutely a must-read tear-jerker tale of a fantastic woman coming of age in the most unexpected circumstances who grew well beyond her years. The tragedies that she had to live through are just so heartbreaking, this is the type of story that will stay with you and leave a lasting impression. The descriptions of everything are so realistic, and the development of the characters is beautifully portrayed, you will grow attached and then have to say goodbye so many times.
