Murder the Tey Way (Golden Age of Mystery Book Club) by Marilyn Levinson – Review by Brandy Rymer

Murder the Tey WayMurder the Tey Way by Marilyn Levinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book series keeps improving as each new book builds up the suspense with each new mystery happening to the club members. I was shocked that there were so many deaths and injuries this time, having the drama continue to build up and the suspense grows as I read each page. I had my suspicions and was happy to see I was right about who the guilty party was, but boy the author had me working to solve the mystery as there are so many different leads to follow about every character in the book club. We get to continue following the lives of our book club members from the first book in the Golden Age of Mystery Book Club series as they explore their love for mysteries and Tey’s adventures. I am curious if the books that the group is reading are real because I’m intrigued to read them if they are, and if they aren’t then the author should consider writing them because the stories that the book club is reading have me just as intrigued as the story that I’m following along. This book is full of amazing past characters as well as lots of new characters that you get to know, guiding the reader to have even more suspicious characters to suspect of wrongdoings. I’m hopeful that this series will continue because I love a good suspenseful mystery with just the right amount of soft romance to add to the drama.

Unexpected Heroes by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Brandy Rymer

Unexpected HeroesUnexpected Heroes by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I got to read this story when it was part of a compilation of stories by several amazing authors called, “Saved by the Everyday Hero” and loved it. Naomi Valkyrie is a great author; she brings the story to life through her magical way of writing such a realistic storyline. She takes her time developing the characters so dynamically that you can’t help but love them. I am so excited that this is now available as a story all by itself as well as in a compilation.

I absolutely loved reading this romance compilation; it was filled with happily-ever-after stories that enchanted me with every story. I loved getting to read so many different authors in one place. I have found some new authors that I will seek other works because they were so amazing at bringing the characters to life. There was at least one story that had someone you could relate to, I found there were so many that I could relate to in my life. Reading stories that make you feel warm and fuzzy was wonderful. If you love a good short romance story with a complete plot and all the character development, this is the book for you! I hope to be able to find more books like this in the future, where amazing authors come together to compile their work into one place for us romantics.

The Story That Ties Us (Love Ties Us Series) by Nicolette Terry – Review by Brandy Rymer

The Story That Ties UsThe Story That Ties Us by Nicolette Terry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nicolette Terry is a new author who hit her first book right out of the park! This first book in the Love Ties Us series is amazing, it had me in tears throughout the story. There were so many instances that I felt that I was right there with the group of friends experiencing their trials, their losses, and their heartbreak. What a beautiful gift to be able to write such a realistic romance, that carries such a sad tale of heartbreak, but which was necessary to lead to the rekindling of a second chance at love. The realism of the action in the military scenes just about did me in, they were so realistic with the stories that I’ve heard from veterans. I truly hope that there are such amazing resources that are available as the ones that are mentioned in this book because there are so many who battle the demons of their memories of what people have experienced while serving our amazing nation.

I could not put this book down and am so excited to read more books by this author. I am hoping that she will continue to build stories around all of the other characters within the group of special friends because I am already hooked and invested in their lives and want more. The build-up of each character having such mischievous attitudes makes for some amazing future storylines, that are yet to be explored. This was most definitely a book I’d recommend to anyone who loves a continuing storyline that doesn’t fail to connect, as you’ll see when you read this, the first of this book series. Happy reading everyone, I know I truly enjoyed this new author’s first book and look forward to reading many more by her.

The Music That Ties Us (Love Ties Us Series) by Nicolette Terry – Review by Brandy Rymer

The Music That Ties Us: A Rockstar Romance (Love Ties Us)The Music That Ties Us: A Rockstar Romance by Nicolette Terry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love this book series and recommend anyone looking for a feel-good romance series to start with the first book and then this one second. Each can be a standalone, but you’d be missing out on getting to know the whole gang that are key characters in each book. Nicolette Terry has written such a great book series, it gave me everything that I want in a romance, and then more. The author’s use of such masterful ways of going into detail about the character’s life stories really draws you in and helps you to connect with them. Every character is so realistic, that you feel like you can relate to the real-world issues that are going on in their lives.

I love that this particular book gives us Cadence’s story and that we get to see what is going on between her and her boyfriend and learn who the “I met someone” is referring to from Book #1. It’s great to read a story that deals with regular people’s problems and have a glimpse into the lives of people who have not had an over-the-top family life but are more down to earth in the fact that they grew up with less than stellar situations. It allows the reader to feel an emotional connection, and to relate to the drama and contention that makes up the storyline. It’s so hard to trust love when you’ve been burnt and don’t feel like you are worthy of being yourself. It’s nice to have a story that connects so well and overlaps the previous book, showing how well they go together. You are just getting the situations from another point of view from other characters in the friends group.

Love Rinkside (The Playmakers Series) by G. K. Brady – Review by Brandy Rymer

Love Rinkside (Playmakers)Love Rinkside by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a great romance with a wonderful storyline and amazing characters that grab your heart. This is a story about Drew and Katie, both at a mutual friend’s Halloween party, dressed in outrageous mascot costumes. Both had sworn off romance and fell for one another from the moment they met. This is such a sweet romance that will take the reader through the ups and downs of dating, especially when you are getting over a bad relationship history. What a great book to read if you’re in the mood for a short romance that will have you laughing throughout the book, but still get your happily ever after.

The Predator Part One (The Predator Series) by Brooke May – Review by Brandy Rymer

The Predator Part OneThe Predator Part One by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Predator was a great contemporary romance by Brooke May, who has a wonderful skill at her craft. What an amazing talent she has for developing characters that are so realistic and placing them into storylines that you can’t help but get invested in. This story starts in the present tense but not long into the story you go into the past and spend almost the entire story in the past, as our main character tells her best friend her life story. By the time you are about finished with the story, you get to come back to the present, and boy are there some unexpected huge surprises waiting for you! I was hooked from the moment I opened this book; I could not put it down I read this in one sitting and couldn’t help myself to jump right into the next book in the series. The author stands true to her writing style in that she works hard to create such dimensional characters that will have you laughing and crying right alongside them as you follow through their heartbreak and the battles that they go through. Every good romance must have some contention to bring you to the big finish, well this book brings you right to a cliffhanger, so be prepared! This is a perfect read, especially for these hot summer nights.

Discovering Desire (Shattered Embrace Series) by Alyndra Quinn – Review by Brandy Rymer

Discovering Desire (Shattered Embrace #3)Discovering Desire by Alyndra Quinn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Shattered Embrace series is definitely for an adult audience, that being said I absolutely love this series. Before I read this book, I reread the full series before starting the book, including the side story of Derek and Jordan in Wonderland, so I could have a full understanding of everything that led to this point in time. I had read the previous books earlier, but love reading a series through one right after the other when I have time. This book takes us into the life of Derek, Zachary’s half-brother, and we learn a lot more about his deep secrets. Not only do we get to read the story from Derek’s point of view, but also from Justine and Jordan’s points of view. Both ladies are subs of Derek’s but also have way more to their character than meets the eye. This story is full of thrilling moments, and intense interactions between opposing teams that are fighting for dominance in a bigger battle than just in the business world. You won’t want to miss this explosive next book in this series, where Derek will get to fight his battles for dominance in his personal life as well as his professional life. Will his skills as an ex-navy SEAL be able to keep him and his loved ones safe, or will he get distracted by his newly developing feelings get in the way?

The Handshake Agreement (Book 1) by A. Akinosho – Review by Brandy Rymer

The Handshake AgreementThe Handshake Agreement by A. Akinosho
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a powerful read this book was, it had me feeling so many different emotions, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to laugh or cry or yell at Declan, our main character as I saw the way he interacted with Anne. These characters have so much dimension to them, you feel like you understand everything about them, and then the author throws you a curve ball and introduces new characters who jumble up everything. When Anne and Declan met for the first time, I figured she would be a small character in the book, but boy was I way wrong! She will surprise you through every experience she goes through, and then some. Do not underestimate the power of this woman, because she really does give Declan a run for his money, and then some more besides.
This book was amazing, it has everything you could ever want in a romance book, from intriguing characters to characters that care nothing about anyone but themselves. Do not let the cover fool you, this is no ordinary romance novel, it’s got mystery, thrilling action, and family feuds to boot. I could not put this book down once I got started, there were several late nights of reading because just one more chapter…which continued to yet another, I couldn’t put it down.

Trusting Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 1) by Julie Navickas – Review by Brandy Rymer

Trusting Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 1)Trusting Love by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a hilarious read this was, it’s like a city girl thrown into the wilderness all for a chance at love, so awesome! This book was a great world-building experience showing how far people will go to get to know someone they have a spark with. As Tess and Ryan get to know one another, Tess realizes that it is a small world, especially when it comes to love. That and past mistakes have a terrible way of rearing their ugly head when you least expect or want them to come out. Tess has realized that her past actions do not have to continue to define her present lifestyle or prevent her chance at a true romance. The only problem is that Ryan, the man she’s falling in love with, despises dishonesty, and cheaters…will Tess be able to admit her past mistakes and move forward with Ryan, or will this be a deal breaker for him as he works to overcome his broken heart from his ex-girlfriend Vicky who ripped his heart out at the worst time possible. This is the first book in the Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy and the first book of Julie Navickas that I’d ever read. I must say that I adore her writing style and cannot wait to continue with this series as well as go back and read her prior trilogy where we get to know several of our side character’s stories. The characters are so well-developed and are all linked in such a manner that they are all connected in their storylines. This book was such a great read, I could not put it down, I had to continue reading because I didn’t want their story to end!

Finding Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 2) by Julie Navickas – Review by Brandy Rymer

Finding Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 2)Finding Love by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an amazing second book to the Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy! I loved following Rachel’s story, especially after watching all that she did for her family in the first book of this series. She deserved to find her happily ever after, and definitely not with Ian, her boyfriend from the first book. This was such an excellent read, it was intriguing, had very dynamic characters, and is a continuation of the story right where we left off in the previous book in the series. What a great job Julie Navickas does at working her magic in creating characters that pull at your heartstrings and then continue to draw your attention as they grow in character and humility. There are so many developments for all of our characters, the focus does not stay just with our two mains, but we get to continue to follow along with the love stories of our past characters. I am so excited to go back and read the other trilogy that the author had written, especially since we get to know the side character’s stories and some of these characters’ backstories that are hinted at throughout these books. What a great find this series was for me, it’s a great contemporary romance with just the right amount of romance to keep it fresh but not overly spicy.
