This is a crazy story full of hi-jinks and shenanigans. Sam and Rex are out of school for the summer. Looking for adventure in their Boring town. There is silly food concoctions and Bingo nights. Not to mention parades with Lawn Chair Marching Dads! (That one cracked me up.) Add in a couple of strangers and an overactive imagination makes this a cute detective story.

I enjoyed these boys can’t imagine what they could stumble upon next. This is great for younger readers who like mysteries but also have a little bit of that imagination themselves.

Terror in Boring Town (A Sam and Rex Adventure Book 1) by Hoot N. Holler is a five star novel. I a, secretly a teen novel junkie. I teach math to middle schoolers, so I know what they like and what they don’t. A lot of books adults try to write for them are hokey but this one was great. I felt like Sam and Rex were totally relatable and enjoyed it even as an adult. There was terror and suspense and drama between friends. What more can you ask for? I also loved that the town name is Boring Town, because it really usually is, except it happened to be named for the first postmaster. Definitely recommend this book. I am excited to read more in this series.

Great read for older children as well as adults. Suspense and mystery are the events in this not so Boring Town. Let’s not forget the comedy and laughter that takes place in Boring Town.

Hoot N. Holler are a classic team for writing this book. You will fall in love with Sam and Rex. As like every 12 year old we know. Will find themselves getting into trouble, but not so much they can’t get out of it. When the boys try to convince the town of the the danger, nobody believes them. I enjoyed this story and the characters. Your 9 -12 year old boys will love this story, so will the girls. But for boys who don’t like to read, this is a must for them. You can bet I’ll be looking for more from Hoot N Holler. My grandkids will are going to love this book as well. Well Done!!!

So I’ll start with the obvious, this is a kids book generated for the preteens to young teen age group. I believe this is a great story for kids, I believe they would stay interested in finishing the story. The story takes place during the summer. So obviously the school is out and by the title Sam and Rex live in a boring town. Their minds are pretty active in this book making it a mystery they have to solve. There are many funny moments in the book making it even more enjoyable for kids in my opinion. I think this will be a big hit for kids wanting to “investigate” along with Sam and Rex.

Terror in Boring Town (A Sam and Rex Adventure, #1) by Hoot N. Holler was a fun, entertaining read, that had that old school The Hardy Boys feeling.

My first read from this author, I went in with an open mind and channeled my inner child. That wasn’t hard, cause, well, I’m a 5 year old trapped in a 30 year old body.. jk, jk.. maybe… In all seriousness, this book was as I said, fun, super engaging, and perfect if you have a young reader that likes quik humor, extra characters and a mystery that will get your mind working, then this book is perfect. Not only that, it has enough adultness, that if you wanted to make it a family read, then you’ll have just as fun a time as your litte reader.

Overall this book brought me back to a simpler time, and to my early days a reading. The wording was easy to follow, the plot was complex in a way it would be for a young reader. So yes, I did figure out what was going on pretty fast, but as this book isn’t meant for my level, I didn’t mind, or care, cause as I have said like twice or more, this book is all around fun. Like disney channel TV movie fun. It has little bit of everything, and it gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

So first off I thought that this was a great children’s story! I don’t have any children in the target audience so I read and reviewed it as a teacher. I really enjoyed it and have no doubt that children in the age range would really enjoy this story and I also think that it would be great in engaging boys to read too! The plot was exciting and the characters were well thought out. The illustrations were bright and colourful and really added something to the story. There were some really good talking points too which would enable children to predict what might happen in the story.
I would absolutely recommend this book for the age range that had been identified and would have no hesitation using it in my classroom!

Terror in Boring Town by Hoot N Holler is the first book in the Sam and Rex Adventure Series. I am always on the lookout for a book to catch the attention of a reluctant reader. This adventure will catch their attention. Sam and Rex living in a boring town but don’t shy away from crazy adventures. The characters are fun and are easy to relate to for children. They catch on to some new people on time and hatch a plan to confirm their suspicions. I enjoyed this book and look forward to introducing my niece to some new characters. She is always up for a mystery and adventure and I think she will like Sam and Rex. I will be looking for more books from Hoot N Holler in the future.

Much to my mother’s chagrin, I was an adventure seeking tom boy as a kid. My friends and I would go “treasure hunting” in abandoned lots and one day I was so dirty that I had to be hosed off in the backyard before I could enter the house. As I was reading this book I was reminded of my youthful misadventures and I hadn’t thought about those times in a very long time. For me, that is a great benefit of reading, to go to a place you haven’t been before or to return to a memory you haven’t visited in a while. This is a young reader book. Again, it’s been a while since I read a young reader book, but this is definitely better than what I remember. This was full of adventure and it reminded me of the times I would fight with my big brothers to be included as well. I really liked this story, it was intriguing and entertaining, but most importantly for me, it was fun. I could see this happening in a little town, a town I would love to visit. So for me this had everything I love in a book and I can’t wait to see what these two get up to next.

A perfect mystery for kids today. Terror in Boring Town is a fun story story about two boys trying to get the scoop on some strangers that have come to their town. When there is a mystery and two boys are trying to get creative with ideas to prove the strangers are criminals makes a great story. The story has a great plot to keep the kids interested in the story. I would definitely recommend this book for entertainment and possible a book to read for summer time reading.

I can’t hardly believe after all the books I’ve read in my life that this book actually had me so hooked I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. All I could think about was that I must buy a copy of this book for each of my grandchildren that I know would enjoy it, and I plan to do that at each of their birthdays.

This proves to me that it doesn’t matter what age group a book is I am totally in love with detective type books with a lot of mystery. I loved the flow of this story and I grew up reading The Nancy Drew mysteries and this brought back many memories of enjoying those while my brother read The Hardy Boys and I can’t wait to share this with friends that have younger children as well.

Awesome and absolutely look forward to more from Sam and Rex 🙂

Terror in Boring Town (A Sam and Rex Adventure Book 1) by Hoot N is a great children’s book. It is an adventure mystery story that was written with children from the ages of 9 to 12 in mind. The story is about two young boys Sam and Rex who are on summer vacation and one who looks for everything as an adventure of some sort the other not so much but when they see a strange truck in town, the boys decide to get to the bottom of what is going on. The story is fun and original and the characters were well written and relatable.
Surely to be a hit.

I am NOT the intended demographic for this story HOWEVER; I very much enjoyed it and actually identified with a few of the “older folks”. Mr. Patel, for example, because he’s always sneaking the kids candy when Mrs. Patel isn’t looking. That’s the kind of Aunt I am – so I get it.

This is a delightful story that I would absolutely give to my nieces and nephews to read. I have a few that don’t like to read and I think this one might change their mind. It’s a delightful adventure of 2 young boys and the things they experience one summer in a town called Boring, MD. Trust me; it’s NOT a boring story.

HOOT N HOLLER is a new to me author (or team of authors) and enjoyed the way they told a tale. I’m not sure who had what voice, but it was seamless in the telling. The story is well plotted and a great read.

I look forward to reading more adventures written by this (these) delightful author(s).

The story Terror in Boring Town (A Sam and Rex Adventure Book 1) by Hoot N. Holler is a book that has mystery, friendship, and adventure. It tells the story of Sam and Rex. They are twelve-year-old friends who live in a boring town. They are on summer vacation when they become suspicious of two mysterious strangers who have appeared in town. When unable to get anyone to believe that two criminals are now among them, they come up with a plan to prove that their suspicions are correct. What are the strangers planning? Will Sam and Rex be able to stop them? Will lives be put at risk to expose the criminals? Read this book to find out. I believe this story to be one that kids will find joy in reading. Younger readers will find the characters of Sam and Rex to be relatable and their adventure exciting. The mystery and adventure will keep their interest. Sam and Rex’s characters are well-developed. Rex has a large imagination and Sam is his best friend that is always there with him. There are other additional characters that you read about and have a part to play in the book. I found the story entertaining and enjoyed reading it.

A children’s chapter book that I enjoyed from cover to cover. It is about two boys who live in a boring town until a couple of strangers arrive in town. What will happen when Sam and Rex go on a mission to prove that these strangers are criminals? These two boys are creative when trying to get their proof and even life threatening. This is a great story and I would not hesitate to give it to our children. Twists and turns brought down to a child’s level. I highly recommend this book for children
