The illustrations in this book are fantastic. The book asks the question where do Pirates go on vacation and yet it is never really answered. It does lead to the reader discussing the possiblities of where but yet it doesn’t really answer the question. Great for getting the kids to interact with the book. And again the illustrations are fantastic. It truly does inspire interactions and imagination.

Where do pirates go on vacation? Or do they go at all? This is a very simple, easy to read, and incredibly illustrated children’s book. It was a fun, quick read before bedtime. My kiddos enjoyed having this book read to them, and guessing if pirates actually take vacations, as much as I enjoyed reading it.

We’re new to this series, & this cute little book has made us want to read the rest. It’s short & sweet & inclusive! I read it to my 4 year old 1st, & when he asked to read it again as soon as we finished, my 5 year old caught interest & she loved it too. Another lovely children’s story that is filled with rhymes and illustrations about pirates. I loved it. While I have never considered where pirates go on vacation this book did make me think about that. The kids were fascinated with the illustrations. In fact, they would not allow me to turn the page until they had inspected and critiqued every single item. They were trying to name all the items in the treasure chest which I found to be so much fun and entertaining. This is a wonderful book. I highly recommend it for your kids, gift giving and even donating to your kid’s school library.

Where Do Pirates GoOn Vacation is the latest adventure in the Go On Vacation series by Kim Ann. My 6-year-old grandson and I really enjoyed this clever and engaging little adventure. It pulled us in from the beginning with interesting, bright, and colourful illustrations that captured our attention while bringing the whole story to life. My Grandson read the story, and had no trouble reading, or understanding it. We enjoyed the rhyming verses that told the story as well as the guessing games along the way- following the pirates as they decided what to do, or where to go on their vacation. We discover if pirates even need a vacation as they are always sailing all over the world, looking for treasure and finding adventure…. Highly recommended. Engaging, fun, imaginative, and enjoyable children’s picture book. Looking forward to whatever Kim Ann brings us next. Happy Reading!

This was a really cute book! My daughter who is 2 absolutely loved this one! She picked out the treasure, boats and shells, and just had so much fun with this one. The pictures were very cute and well illustrated as well. I highly enjoyed this and enjoyed reading it to my daughter as well! I enjoyed this book Immensely and felt connected to the characters . The world the author created was vivid and bold. This was a science fiction story that was equally about the passion of science and life as well as about living your life as you choose and doing what you love. Our main character exude confidence, intelligence, and a carefree spirit. Their modern day space voyage takes a turn as they experience some calculated issues. As they encounter the unexpected it becomes not just about them but the world as whole.

Shadow Patterns of Melt is a Sci-Fi Adventure that I had a hard putting down once I got into it. It started out a bit slow and I wasn’t sure what I got myself into but after the first couple chapters things changed. I overall truly enjoyed reading this book its just a bit different than the other Sci-Fi books I’ve read. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely going to check out what other books they have written. This authors style of writing is a bit different and the storyline a bit out of the ordinary but everything flowed so smoothly. The characters are well developed, likable and make it easy to picture everything that is going on. This story is about showing determination and going for what you want while living your life your way not what someone else wants. I’m not going to give anything away but I do highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

It took me a little bit to get into rhythm of the story but then it was smooth sailing. This is a unique space story in the way that it’s not military based, or a space force. The reader follows adventures, drama, and interesting characters. There is grand world building and Fogg put a lot of effort into the characters. I’m not one to usually read sci fi, but I liked this one. I’m glad I read it. The characters are lovable with their own personalities. I enjoyed the writing style, super easy to read. Also enjoyed the action that was in this book. If you love a book that has to do with space, time travel, humor and everything that science fiction brings, read this one. Though I usually stay away from books with AI and that line of futuristic plots since they generally felt like drier reads, I decided to try this book. I was pleasantly surprised by the thorough character development and world-building. Though there is a fair amount of jargon in the story, it didn’t hold back on the actual meat of the book and I could read through it without too many interrupting thoughts. I enjoyed the descriptive voice of the characters and the overall plot of this book. I may just have to give this side of Sci-Fi a try once more, now that I’ve found a book that I’ve actually enjoyed.

This sci-fi book is incredibly unique and though it took me a little bit to get into it, I enjoyed it. The flow of the story can be a little bumpy at times, but it was a great read overall. I loved the characters! Nialla and Bishr were truly fascinating, and even though this is a futuristic read it remains relatable. They explore their independence, enjoy life, and jump wormholes…but they end up making a discovery that could mean big changes. This was different from most sci-fi that I have read, and I can’t wait to see what the next book will bring. I highly recommend picking this up for an eccentric time-traveling adventure!

Nialla and Bishr want to enjoy life to the fullest on their own ship. Ideally, they would like to jump wormholes from system to system. However, in doing so they make a startling discovery that risks the future independence of humankind in space.
This book is a bit more of a serious read and I personally found it a bit hard to really get into. The characters are unique and interesting, and well described. The scenes are vivid, and it is well written. This would be a good book for any avid sci-fi reader.

This was a good read. I was a little iffy with it just because of all the science fiction jargon. I love sci-fi, but sometimes the jargon just gets me and this was one of those times. Once I got passed the confusion I really enjoyed the story. I just don’t think I was in the mood for this particular one today though. I really enjoyed the characters, and it was a very unique story. I would love to give this another reread once I’m in the mood for science fiction again though!

Shadow Patterns of Melt by J. R. P. Fogg. This is not my usual genre but I truly enjoyed it. Its a sci fi wild adventure that is a little hard to keep up if you are not used to the sci fi terms. Once you get used to the terms you are in for a fun ride. Its the story of Nalia and Bishr who are fighting the system to do what they want when they want. They have been busy transporting cargo and people across the the planets and they are doing great until they are tasked with taking care of another ship. The story is relevant even today with people not wanting to be told what to do and how to do it. There are even funny parts like the strange bugs they have. If you love sci fi and adventure then you need to read this fun fast paced adventure.

Bishr and Nialla are specialists in space travel, they have been through all the training and now have been in charge of their own ship the Metronome for years transporting cargo and people across the universe for a fee, they make a brilliant team with Bishr being a comms genius and Nialla, a whiz with physics, sometimes she is even known as a savant, she is just that good. They love the freedom which comes from traversing wormholes and jumps between the 400 habitable planets, as well as the 30 which are in the “gration” process and they want to continue to live, laugh and love in their own time.
As they are flying towards their next destination, everything seems to be going to plan until Bishr ill and Nialla has to both look after the other and the ship, this is not easy as there are only the two of them, but somehow they manage. As he recovers, Bishr goes through the correspondence and highlights one message in particular about a Stratum Three planet which is going to be listed as open for gration, he finds the images of the clouds scudding over the surface of the planet relaxing and so saves the skim for later, however, as they are discussing it, the jump they are planning goes wrong.
Nialla and Bishr encounter some issues and between the calcs, the dishes and their superluminal flight, they have to make some decisions which will not just affect them, the shadows which these decisions cast over the rest of the known universe will also come into play, but what will happen and can their love, work, laugh and love mantra keep them safe, or will their unplanned discovery, the history of their parents legacies and the future of mankind in space rip them apart? This is a dystopian sci-fi of universal proportions as split second decisions mean the difference between life, death and everything in between, in this race to calculate, formulate and experiment with unknowns runs its course, in this new and immersive reality.

This is not my typical genre and was hesitant going in but I really enjoyed this collection. It started off a little confusing as there was terminology that was created for this book but as the book progressed, it made sense. Likewise, the beginning was slow but quickly moved to a page turner that I could not put down. Nialla and Bishr create a wonderful team that you cheer on while feeling their heartache, exhaustion, and fear. I am anxiously awaiting the next collection to be completed for Book two to be released.

This story is a unique twist on the time travel plot. I like the mention of the original 1960’s version of the time machine. The historical references were enjoyable and kept the pages turning. The characters and the adventures they go on while trying to alter events important to them, drive the plot effortlessly forward. I wanted to know what happened next and couldn’t put the book down. The dialogue definitely helps propel the reader through the scientific aspects of the story. This is the first book in the series and it was an enjoyable read. The author does a great job with the world building and characters. I loved how the story contains elements of sci-fi such as worm holes and bugs that we could never imagine but there is also a seriousness to the story as Nialla and Bishr are fighting to do what they want when they want to do it without people trying to stop them. Its about fighting for what you want in life and not giving up. This Sci-fi story was entertaining and engaging and I felt like I was actually there experiencing everything that they do. The author creativity and imagination really brings this story to life. I can’t wait to see what other adventures Bishr and Nialla take us on

This is a fascinating sci-fi story that really makes you think about what is going on. The book has a strong focus on the characters and so much seems to happen. I liked the fact that this book had an overall slower pace than most I have read recently. It was a nice change of pace and I think made me become invested in the story in a way I didn’t expect. This is a new author to me and I think this book was a great way to get to learn their style and way of going about things. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will certainly be reading more by this author in the future.

Shadow Patterns of Melt is the first book in this original sci fi action adventure series. It is a story about being determined about what you want. It is an unusual story with action, time travel, wormholes, interstellar travel, and opera.
The characters are well written, strong, passionate, and likable and them along with the world that JRP has created is easily imagined.
This story is vastly different to another book Soliloquy I just finished reading by this author which shows the diversity of her writing abilities and creative mind.

The story is packed full of thought-provoking elements that incorporates complex ideas, physics, interstellar travel, wormhole theory, time travel, and shadow pattern theory- as well as loads of action- which made this quite an interesting read. There were moments where the story felt a little ‘heavy’ that caused the flow to slow somewhat- but the pace would pick back up again, so it was not enough to put me off reading further. Nialla and Bishr were really well-developed characters who were cleverly crafted into interesting and fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I enjoyed following them on their adventure and will pick up Volume Two when it releases, to continue the adventures. Happy Reading…
