This book talks about love, loss and some topics which may trigger those with similar experiences.

Alli, her husband and their dog Kingsley are the and the perfect trio, they love life, walks, snuggles on the sofa and spending time with family and at only 8 years old, there is a lot of life left in him, that is until one day when it is discovered that Kinglsey has cancer. Alli and her husband are in shock and disbelief as Kingsley’s behaviour and attitude hadn’t changed at all, but it is all confirmed with a biopsy and some hard decisions have to be made when they are told that instead of years together, they may only have months.

As Alli and her husband come to terms with Kingsley’s diagnosis and the options for treatments and the time they have left with him, they feel devastated, despairing and hopeless, so Alli turns to research, she looks into all of the options, places where he can get treatment and things they can do themselves at home.

This book takes you through their experience from start to finish, it is a diary of sorts which takes you through the ups and downs associated with the diagnosis of cancer in a pet and how it affects the life of the pet and the owners alike. It is informative as the type of cancer, treatment options and other things affecting the emotional state of the family are explained in detail.

This book will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, as you follow along on this journey of caring for a beloved pet with cancer.

This book is special to my heart. I have experienced the same event. I appreciate how the author opened their emotions in this book. It is written beautifully. I felt every emotion the author felt at certain points in this book. This book was real for me. I highly recommend this.

I don’t even know where to start with this book. I absolutely, 100% cried like a baby. Reading of precious Kingsley’s story made me remember and relive the moment leading up to putting my sweet dog down and the moments before her passing. I felt the author’s pain throughout this heartbreaking journey, wondering if you were doing the right thing for your dog, wondering whether they are in pain, how you can help, you go through so many different emotions. Dogs are the most amazing animals, and I hear it said over and over again how we as human don’t deserve animals and it is so true, animals are so pure and beautiful and have so much love to give. I just know Kingsley brought this family so much love and joy throughout his 9 years of life and I am happy to read that he had a beautiful home while he was here on earth. I definitely recommend this book to anyone struggling with the loss of an animal or anyone going through an animal with cancer. Thank you for your story.

Caring for Kingsley by Alli Eldridge
Caring for Kingsley is a heart-felt novel about a young couple finding their first baby, their dog Kingsley, has cancer. The novel follows their journey from the moment they welcomed Kingsley into their lives, up until cancer took its hold.
Caring for Kingsley can relate to any animal parent and/or animal lover. The emotions Alli and Dustin experience are very real and relatable. Their feelings were described in a matter that made it so that I could feel what they were feeling. I laughed, cried, and pondered along with them. The only downside I had towards Caring for Kingsley is that it opened old wounds from losing my childhood dog from cancer.
Overall, Caring for Kingsley is an exquisitely written book about the highs and lows of being a dog parent. It is a must read for lovers of animals, dog owners, those struggling to find answers to their own pet’s disease, or anyone who wants to read a relatively quick, heartfelt book.

Heartwarming despite its subject matter, this book is informative. I believe it is a necessary read for pet owners. All pet owners will benefit from reading this book, not only those who are on this heartbreaking journey. Many pet owners will face the end of their pet’s life. The author offers us hope and grace through a trying time.

Caring For Kingsley by Alli Eldridge is such a heartbreaking tale. Having lost fur-babies myself, I know the anguish all too well. I cried buckets of tears through this book, so much so, that at times I couldn’t see the words for all the tears. Reading about Kingsley’s battle with cancer and the lengths his mum and dad went to in an effort to heal him touched me as much as it broke me.
While the word cancer produces some scary feelings, the story itself is an incredibly moving and powerful ‘tribute’ to their beloved Kinsley. As well as offering some helpful ideas and insights for anyone else facing the same the same situation. I think writing Kingsley’s story also provided a journey of healing for Alli and her husband Dustin in the process.
Caring For Kingsley is a raw, honest, and heart-wrenching account to say the least. But the story is so much more than that. It is a powerful story of love, friendship, family, bonds, dedication, comfort, grief, hope, and healing- and I really appreciate Alli Eldridge for sharing this poignant and memorable story with us.
