Amaleigha and the Big IdeaAmaleigha and the Big Idea by Janice Pratt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amaleigha is a five-year-old girl who loves to spend time in her backyard forest. She will sit for hours and watch how the animals play. One day while outdoors enjoying her time in nature Amaleigha comes up with a big idea on how she can share what she loves with others. She enlists the help of friends and family to make her idea become a reality.

Amaleigha is smart, determined and a real go-getter. She might be only five years old, but she has some big ideas that she needs to share with her community. This book is intended for young children, but I feel that it conveys a strong message about the importance of following your dreams, at any age. It also shows what great things can be accomplished when people work together to make them a reality. The illustrations are beautiful, and each scene is so descriptive that the reader cannot help but become fully immersed into the story. A must read for children of all ages!

My six year old and I recently read Amaleigha and the Big Idea for bedtime and she really enjoyed the story. She was anxious to see what the “big idea” was. As a grown adult reading the story, I loved the family relationships and the support, pride and enthusiasm shown throughout. This was a great children’s book with a good message to readers and fun illustrations. I’ll keep an eye out for more from this author!

This was such an entertaining childrens book which was beautifully written and illustrated. Amaleigha was such an adorable little girl and I loved the story about her and her wonderful imagination and ideas, I could easily see children being inspired by this book. I love the idea of a barefoot park as well! Amaleigha had some wonderful ideas in this story and I can see it definitely bringing up some questions for children about the thigs they would like to experience.

I read this book with my daughter and it was absolutely precious! Amaleigha reminds me so much of my little girl. A brave, kind, and fearless girl who captures the hearts of those around her. Even those pesky big brothers 🙂 She is fiercely independent and sees the beauty in all things, big and small, around her. This is a lovely story to share with your little ones!

Amaleigha is a 5 year old who notices things… she takes time to enjoy her surroundings. Amaleigha’s grandma knows she is going to do great things in her life because of this trait – even though her brother thinks it is just weird. So when she goes outdoors, she stops to enjoy the wildlife, the weather, the grass inbetween her toes. Then one day she has an amazing idea- one that will help her share what she loves with the people of her town! With the help of her family, she creates an outdoor space called the Barefoot Park, a place where others can come to feel the nature between their barefoot toes!

This is the sweetest story! It contains the sweetest main character – Amaleigha and it focuses on her love of nature. This story does a great job of showing its young readers that anything really is possible that you believe in. I love that it also builds creative thinking. I have to say my favorite part was the focus of nature. I really think it would have children thinking bigger about the outdoors around them and inspire them to get out and be creative in nature! Great Story!

Amaleigha is five years olds and sees the world differently than most people. She loves running with her bare feet and just laying on the grass. With each season, there are things that Amaleigha notices about nature.

Those around her have different opinions about her. Her brother believes her to be a ‘crazy kid’ while her grandmother knows she will do great things.

One day, Amaleigha has a great idea and starts putting it into action by telling her family and making sketches.

This was a cute short story. I loved Amaleigha’s imagination and her interest in nature. The artwork was cute too.

Amaleigha and the Big Idea by Janice Pratt is a sweet, illustrated children’s story that inspires the imagination of both young and old…
She may only be five years-old, but Amaleigha has some really big ideas. She is always off exploring, wondering about the world and nature, taking in everything around her. One day she comes up with a fantastic idea, but it is a bit of a huge undertaking. She explains her idea to her family and so, with their help, her idea comes to fruition.
The story inspires imagination, but also implants the idea that anything is possible. It’s a sweet and fun plot- with bright and colourful illustrations that will hold a child’s interest. The messages are inspirational and easy for children to understand.
This cute and quirky story was engaging and fun, feeding both the imagination, as well as inspiring creative thinking, being productive, family bonding, and contributing to community.
Happy reading!

This was a cute story! I was impressed with the level of imagery the author used for this book, so much so that I feel like unless it’s an older child reading this book, it would go over the top of many children’s heads. I really enjoyed how sweet the characters were, and the focal point of the story being nature. There is a good opportunity in this book to teach children about the changing seasons as well. Overall this was a cute story that I enjoyed reading!

Amaleigha is a five-year-old with the world in her hands! She loves the outdoors and wants to share that love with everyone she knows. When she sparks an idea to do just that, her family pitches in to make her dream a reality. Before she knows it, one small girl has made a huge difference in her community!

I can’t say enough how cute this book is. My seven-year-old loved reading it and following along with Amaleigha’s adventure. I had the opportunity to spark conversation and get his mind thinking about what he would do in Amaleigha’s situation. The illustrations are bright and attractive, really helping to bring the story to life. This is a fun and engaging story that I think could be enjoyed by many ages.

This is an adorable story that’s geared towards children aged 4-7 years old. Amaleigh is an amazing child of five who loves nature. She loves being outdoors. She comes up with a big idea to share her love of nature with the world. The story shows that no matter what your age is, if you put your mind to something, you can achieve anything. At the end of the book, there is some interesting information on how to do what Amaleigh did. If everyone could see the world through the eyes of a child, the world would be a much better place.

Amaleigha is an adorable 5 year old girl who wants to change the world. Imagine if 5 year olds ran the world!! There would be all sorts of fun activities and that’s just want Amaleigha wants. She goes off running barefoot through the woods, laying in the grass looking up at the sky, playing in water…she’s become one with nature and loves how it makes her feel. It’s her desire to share that with everyone so one night after dinner, she shares her plan with her family and they wholeheartedly support her.

This is a great book to inspire confidence in a young mind. It also goes to show that you can do anything you set your mind too. This book, while it features a young girl, could also be applied to a young boy as well.

I loved the spirit of this book. It definitely promotes listening to a young child’s ideas and dreams. A young child is pure of heart and enjoys things we grown ups tend to take for granted. Amaleigha’s idea was marvelous and helped the whole community. This book made me look at the possibilities of just one person’s ideas and making them happen.

I saw a lot of my own daughter in this book. She is like Amaleigha, who likes to explore the seasons. Part of this exploration is going outside without shoes on. She is encouraged by her grandmother who understands Amaleigha. With the assistance of her brother, she builds a park where people can explore barefoot. This book is inspirational because it teaches children the power in believing yourself and illustrates how they should always be working towards achieving their dreams.

At five years old she’s different than most of the children her age. She likes to be outside in nature. Then she comes up with a big plan, the big idea. So she tells her family and they agree with her it’s a good idea. They start building a park. When community sees what she’s doing they pitch in to help. Then she gets recognized by the mayor. Amaleigha is full of wonderful and colourful drawings that really brighten the story. It is a book aged for kids 4 – 7 who will be delighted as they go on this adventure with Amaleigha.

Amaleigha is one clever girl and has a passion that she wants to share it with others. There is a message here and it is not just for kids. Adults could use it too.

I read this story to my grandbabies, 5 and 3 ½ and they enjoyed it so much I had to reread it to them several times. It is a great idea for birthday or Christmas presents for your kids or grandbabies.

Jan has proven it is never too late to share your passion.

Sometimes when you dream, it takes a while for it to become a reality. I have wanted to write books since I was a little girl and fell in love with my home town library. I read books at school, at home, in bed and even in the bathtub. I just couldn’t get enough of far away places, brave heroes and heroines and the experience of getting lost in a new and amazing adventure in each book. Through the years, I became  the owner of a preschool, a public librarian, a school librarian and a children’s yoga teacher but no mater what I did I shared stories with children. Finally, at age 62, I have published my first book but I know it won’t be my last. Check out Amaleigha and her big idea!
