Is the frist book of the series by Andrea Matthews. Its an interesting read and the time travelling is set in Scotland. Maggie is an all round good character she’s also resourceful and adventuresous. This is a highly entertaining book. A lovely glimsp of history.

This is the second book of Thunder on the Moor Book which is set in Scotland. This book has everything, a time travel romance, fantasy, action, adventure, betrayal, family dynamics, danger, murder, tragedy, tension, drama, angst, suspense, emotion, and history there is so much going on at once. Maggie and her family travel back in time. Will they find what they are looking for. Will and Maggie are finally together but how long will their happiness last.

This is the second installment of the Thunder On The Moor series and sees the return of Maggie Armstrong and Will Foster as they are resting in a field by his family’s home, after the trials of the past couple of days, they feel they are allowed a little rest, as they go over what had transpired over again, but her family back in Scotland are already planning ways to get her back after the last debacle she caused by the river and making them walk all the way home in stocking feet, he is livid, but he knows that he can’t just ride straight back out and get her, no matter how much Ian Rutherford complains about it and decides to file a bill with the warden against the Fosters instead. Ian is more livid than anything and is worried about what will happen to Maggie in between now and the Day of Truce when the bill will be heard, especially knowing what Bonnie Will is like with the ladies, but he is pacified with the thought of currying favour with the Armstrongs if the worst should happen while she is with him.
As time passes in the Foster household, Maggie and Will are constantly being removed from the others’ presence so that they don’t get up to any mischief under his mothers watch until they have their handfasting and make their union an official one with witnesses. The revelations are not over yet when she finds out that her closest friend and one of her dad’s closest friends are more family than she knew, but that he didn’t know and she couldn’t tell him either, even if the other had died, but knowing that did explain the closeness of the two. Meanwhile, trouble is brewing when someone goes to the warden sooner than expected and tell them about the whole Foster-Armstrong story and what has been happening and so the warden makes the decision that Will Foster will be charged with March Treason for for fraternizing with a Scot and will .be sentenced to hang by the neck until dead.
When word of the charge and sentence reach the Fosters as they go to Hexham on market day, it is decided that Will and Maggie will go into hiding until it has all blown over with one of Will’s brothers who is good at tracking to make it easier for them, they leave with all the haste they can up into the hills, but in his absence, other bills are put against him and as his family refuse to both give up his location or stand in his stead, the decision is made to put opposing bills in to counteract them. When Maggie overhears what the punishment will if Will doesn’t appear, she takes matters into her own hands and heads back home to her family to try and spare will his punishment, even if it means that she has to wed Ian, but when Will is arrested while trying to find Maggie, his family has other ideas and so plans are put into place which are daring and dangerous for them all, but will their plans come to fruition, or will the two be separated and their worst fears come to pass?
This is another fast paced part of the whirlwind which is life for the Border Reivers and not one to be missed.

This is a tale of Scotland vs England in the 16th Century but with a 20th Century twist, Maggie Armstrong is a strong willed young woman, she takes after her dad for that one, it isn’t surprising because she was brought up on tales of his past, of the Border Reivers and their adventures, including an old picture of a portrait from the time, without knowing exactly how long ago his past actually was. It is summertime and Maggie wants to go to a dig in the USA, but her dad feels that it is time to go to Scotland with her, he says it is to meet his family, but she thinks it is just another archeological dig, but she can’t understand why she has to dress the part as well when they get to their destination. That is until he says that they are going back to the 16th Century and when all hell breaks loose with wind, sparks of light and then a calm which is broken by some scottish voices hailing them from a distance on horseback with an Englishman thrown over one of their saddles.
As the riders approach them, one of the recognises her father and dismounts to give him a bear hug and then she is introduced to them, in all the excitement the Englishman escapes the groups clutches, but he is allowed to go for now, there is more excitement to be had with the prodigal son returning after all this time and as they set off to her dad’s ancestral home, it finally sinks in that Maggie is indeed in the 16th Century and so far, it is just like her father described, the deciding fact is that she sees the spitting image of the man from the portrait in her fathers book, she almost goes to where she has spotted him until her father pulls her back and reminds her of the dangers surrounding her.
As Maggie becomes more acquainted with the immediate family, it is decided that a celebration is in order and the whole of the family is invited and there are a lot of them there, but one in particular catches Maggie’s eye and she catches his at the same time, so they are introduced by a cousin as Ian Rutherford and they spend the evening talking to each other and spending time together, but this doesn’t go unnoticed by her father or her uncle. As time passes, they seem keen on each other and as the time dictates, Ian asks for permission to court Maggie and also to begin the process for a betrothal, this is a bit much for Maggie and she starts to protest as her 20th Century independence balks at the idea of it, however, as time goes on, she slowly comes to the realisation that these two worlds are making it hard to respect the families decisions and this is made even harder when she runs into the dashing Englishman and he introduces himself as Bonnie Will Foster.
As time progresses, Maggie is torn between her feelings for Ian and Will and as the Reiver life throws a tragic event into her life, she is overcome with grief and is pulled every which way she could be as she encounters lies, betrayal and blood feuds rage, but will she be able to overcome the events of border life and make the choices she needs to, or will her heart be broken again and again? This is a tale filled with passion, grief, revelations and danger at every turn, but a page turner for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book of this series and was looking forward to the next installment. Thankful to say Matthews did not disappoint. To have a complete picture of the story as it unfolds I do recommend this be read in series order. However Matthews does a beautiful job telling this story in a way that it can be read on its own without missing much. Intrigue, deception, romance, and some time travel allow this historical piece to enthrall the senses and unfold beautifully. I love a good historical piece and found myself wonderfully transported to the Highlands. Loved every page.

Ride with the Moonlight (Thunder on the Moor Book 2) by Andrea Matthews was a great historical romance read! Maggie’s story continues and everything I loved from the first book is here. The attention to detail and development was well done. I felt like I was watching a movie and often I found myself on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. I definitely get Outlander vibes from the story. I look forward to the next book.

This is the continuing story of Maggie Armstrong a time traveler currently in Scotland. She has declared her love for a man that is forbidden but they are now together. Will is now declared an outlaw so they are on the run from Maggie’s family. When they catch up with them Will is sentenced to hand and Maggie is sent back to her family. Maggie’s uncle is still planning on Maggie marrying Ian the man who murdered her father. She is determined to not go through with it. Will’s family is trying to figure out a way to save him. Will they succeed in time to save Will? Will Maggie and Will find their way back to each other? Will Ian’s true self come out to Maggie’s family? Read Riding with the moonlight to find out!

Ride with the Moonlight by Andrea Matthews a fantasy of a four-star read. This is number two in the Thunder on the Moor series and it’s a good idea to read them in order as this one does follow on from the first. This is an imaginative and interesting story, watching Maggie and Will with their struggles and believe me there are some real struggles, maybe a little too much. The setting is lovely and tells its own story, and it’s a great story, for me the struggle was just a little too much.

I enjoyed this time travel story that is full of action and even some romance. This is the second book in this series that can be read as a stand alone. This is a well written story that brings page turning adventure. The characters are connectable and engaging. They bring the story to life and fun to read. Will and Maggie go through alot in this book. They are really great characters that I found myself fighting for. I won’t say too much about them as I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens to them. One is sentenced to hang and the other is sent home. Will one get saved so they can reunite or will fate have something else in mind?

Another fantastic book from this author! I absolutely loved it. This author has a fantastic writing style which draws me in straight away. I loved the first book in the series and I am so glad that this one didn’t disappoint. From the beautiful descriptive language to the fantastic characters I was hooked from beginning to end. I love Maggie and Will, their journey is far from easy and I loved the story plot for this book! It was so exciting to read!
I would definitely recommend reading book 1 prior to this one to fully understand the characters and their story. I think if you love historical/time travel stories then this series is absolutely one you should read!

Ride With The Moonlight by Andrea Matthews is the second book in the Thunder on the Moor series. This series does have to be read in order as it is a continuation of the characters story.
For me this book was even better than the first. I found it so easy to jump straight back into the story and reconnected with the characters immediately. I was excited to see where their journey was going to take them next and how they would overcome everything that seemed to be in their way.
The writing in this book was just as imaginative and detailed as it was in the first. This meant it was so easy to picture everything going on. This has been a strong series and this book really just reinforces that completely. I would highly recommend you give this series a try today!

This is the second book in the Thunder on The Moor series. Because of that I would recommend reading the first one so you can follow the story. I love these books as they are full of adventure as well as romance. They are set in a past era and the author does any amazing job of brining that time to life.
Will and Maggie are finally together but how long will their happiness last. They are on the run to try and protect Will from Maggie’s family but their happiness won’t last long.
When Will is named as an outlaw and sentenced to hang Maggie is forced to return to her family.
When she is returned her uncle continues to make plans for her to marry Ian the man who murdered her father. Maggie fights him but is she strong enough to overcome this.
With Will waiting to be hanged his family are coming up with a plan to rescue him. Will it be in time to save him? Will Will and Maggie be reunited or are the destined to be separated forever? Will the truth about the lies Ian told Maggie’s family come into the open or will they continue to be convinced by his charm and silver tongue?

A historical fiction story that takes place in Scotland. Not only that, it includes time travel, family issues, love, adventure, and so much more. Wonderful job by the author to make the reader actually feel like he/she was in Scotland experiencing the life alongside the characters. The se characters have to survive running away from family in Scotland only to get accused of treason in a place they thought would be safer. I definitely recommend you read the first book to understand what happened.

It is a time travel tale where Maggie and her family travel back in time. Andrea is passionate her history and it that passion that makes this unique story an interesting read. Being set in Scotland makes for a beautiful background. As with the first book there is plenty of action and danger and interesting facts to be learnt, as we Andrea provides narrative of life of a Border Reiver on the run.
Maggie finds a man and they are on the run. Will Maggie be able to keep him safe?

Ride With the Moonlight is the sequel to Thunder On The Moor by Andrea Matthews. It is time travel romance, with fantasy, action, adventure, betrayal, family dynamics, hidden agendas, danger, murder, tragedy, tension, drama, angst, suspense, emotion, and history.
As with the first instalment, this story is set in Scotland- which, again, the author did a good job of capturing- right down to the dialogue, historical details, and other descriptive elements.
As this follows on from book one, I really recommend reading Thunder On the Moor before starting on this book as there is a lot of important information held there which will better help you appreciate the storyline, characters, and developments in this story.
Ms. Matthews doesn’t take is easy on her characters as they have to fight for every ounce of happiness. After the events of the previous book, I thought Will and Maggie might get a little reprieve from all the action and danger. But that is not the case and once again they find themselves in desperate and dangerous circumstances- put through the wringer and unsure of the future- as fate seems to be hell bent on destroying everything. With more than one obstacle to overcome- things look quite grim. Will hope, strength of character, and their love carry them through? You will have to read the story and find out for yourself.
The story continues in the next instalment- Shake Loose the Border (Book #3), which looks set to turn up the intrigue.

is the pseudonym for Inez Foster, a historian and librarian who loves to read and write and search around for her roots, genealogical speaking. In fact, it was while doing some genealogical research that she stumbled across the history of the Border reivers. The idea for her first novel came to mind almost at once, gradually growing into the Thunder on the Moor series. And the rest is history, as they say.

I love books like this that include time travel where the the main character Maggie goes back in time. And not only is Maggie a time traveler but her Father Time travelled into to future and has been living here for 25 or more years. What a treat! I can tell that the author really put a lot of heart and soul into the book, making sure we could imagine being in 16th century Scotland. The language, the romance, the betrayal all helps to connect you to the story which adds to the enjoyment of the book. There were a few spots that kind of got lengthy but overall, I really enjoyed this book.

Thunder on the Moor is an enjoyable and engaging historical romance novel by Andrea Matthews with a time travel twist. Heroine of the story, Maggie Armstrong finds herself transported back to sixteenth century Scotland along with her Border reiver father. Having grown up enchanted by her fathers stories of blood feuds and border raids Maggie is both excited and disoriented to find herself actually in the sixteenth century. However when her Uncle announces that she is to be betrothed to the son of a neighbouring laid she does not care how charming or how handsome Ian Rutherford is, she is at heart a modern women and will not be told who she will marry. Unfortunately Maggie’s refusal could start a blood feud and she realises how dangerous the time period she’s found herself in is. Having encountered betrayal, treachery, and a tragic murder Maggie wonders if she should stay or try and return to her own time despite having found the family she had always wanted. Confusing matters further for Maggie is the arrival of Bonnie Will Foster who is the dashing young man that she has always be enamoured by in one of her father’s portraits. Unfortunately, Will turns out to be a dreaded Englishman who is out for revenge against Ian, but is he also the hero she always imagined him to be.
I was totally immersed in this story and felt as though I had been transported back to the 16th century along with Maggie thanks to the authors wonderful descriptions of both the time period and the Scottish setting.The use of Scottish dialogue between the characters also made the setting come alive, however this did slow down the narrative for me to start with but I soon found I became used to it. I found the family trees at the beginning very helpful and did refer back to them whilst reading. The storyline flowed well making this an easy read and the plot was full of action, drama, and of course romance. I was hooked from page one and fell in love with the well defined and relatable characters especially the likeable Maggie. Obviously well researched, this is a good mix of time travel, history and romance. I look forward to future books by the author.

Wow what a book. It has everything from history, to time travel, to romance and betrayal. The author writes so well you feel you are part of the story. It is captivating and gripping.I loved the mixture of present day and ancient times and how different the way of life was back then.
Maggie has heard her fathers stories about Scotland and his home life all through her childhood. What she doesn’t realise is her father isn’t talking about his ancestors but about his life. He was transported from his home in 1513, 450 years ahead and now lives in the present day.
When Maggie gets told her father is returning to his home she thinks its just another excuse to join him on a dig until she finds herself transported back in time to her fathers home.
At first things seem OK. She meets her family and is loving having them all around her. However that is short lived when her uncle informs her she is to marry someone she doesn’t even know.
Now her modern thinking conflicts with her present situation and she doesn’t want to marry him, however refusal will cause a blood fued between the clans.
Add to the mix an English man who has been Maggie’s fantasy for all these years and it is a rollercoster of emotions. Will the English man be her Knight in shining armour, or is he using her feelings to hurt the man she is supposed to marry?Will Maggie end up with her heart broken?

Thunder On the Moor was the debut novel by Andrea Matthews. It is a descriptive time travel fantasy- with history, adventure, action, discovery, family dynamics, romance, danger, murder, tragedy, betrayal, tension, rivalry, a bit of a love triangle, drama, angst, some suspense, and emotion.
The story is set in Scotland, which the author did a good job of capturing- right down to the dialogue and descriptive elements- as well as crafting all the authentic historical details.
To be honest, though, I wasn’t entirely sure I was going to enjoy this story, as there seems to be a bit of a flood of Scottish ‘time travel’ stories on the market lately. But I can never seem to pass one up when they appear on my recommended book list- so, I took the plunge and grabbed a copy. This may have similar elements to other books in the same genre, but it does have its own unique identity and original details. It did take me a little bit to get into the story and there were times where the story was a little slow going. And I did find it a little hard to connect with the characters, but this my simply be my own high expectations, as plenty of others will probably have no issues- or it may simply be that this is a debut novel and the author is still working things out. Either way, I will be interested to read more of her work in the future.

I LOVE historical fiction and this one was certainly a pleasant read. Anyone that finds themselves fans of the historic hills of The British Isles will absolutely enjoy being transported by this tale. Past and present collide as the characters try to navigate and reconcile their different sensibilities and world views. I immediately was transported with the vivid imagery and appreciated the author’s attention to detail. A really good historical fiction.

Thunder on the Moor by Andrea Matthews was such an interesting time travel story that I LOVED reading. I personally have been obsessed with books about time travel recently and this one did not disappoint. I became hooked from the very beginning and putting this book down was hard for me, I did not want it to end. Maggie is strong, independent, and overall, just an interesting character. This story is so intriguing it keeps you hooked until the very last page. The author put so many details that you feel like you are there.

Thunder On The Moor by Andrea Matthews is a unique and well written book that had my utterly engrossed the whole way through. I loved how the author has taken the two different times and combined them so easily as if it is done every day.
Maggie is such a great character. She is strong and engaging character. It was easy to relate to her and what she was feeling. It was so easy to imagine being in her shoes, going through the experiences that she did.
The story itself was well thought out and developed perfectly. It felt like the author took her time to create a great story. As a new author to me I was impressed with her writing style and the overall progression of the book. I am looking forward to reading more from her in the future.

Thunder On The Moor by Andrea Matthews is a historical romance story that has been born from historical events from the 16th century and it is easy to see that Andrea is passionate about it. It makes for an interesting read with time travel and being set in Scotland (as I love Scotland, it is my favourite place from my world travels), but I found the story long, a little tedious at times and slow going. I also found it hard to connect at all times with the main character, Maggie and found myself skimming through the pages. There is plenty of action and danger and interesting facts, as we learn about the life of a Border Reiver, clan wars and the events of that time.

Thunder on the Moor by Andrea Matthews. This is such a fun elaborate time travel story. Its the story of Maggie Armstrong and her father who has told her stories her whole life about 16th century Scotland. Her father is an archaeologist and when he encourages her to go on a trip with him she believes its one of his archaeological digs. Upon arrival Maggie discovers they have time traveled to 16th Century Scotland and Maggie is shocked. Once she gets her bearings she is surprised that she is enjoying every minute until her Uncle gives her hand to a neighboring Lord in marriage. Maggie is not happy and is determined she is not marrying this man. She doesn’t know him but if she refuses it could cause a dangerous feud between the 2 families. Will Maggie and her father make it back to the real world or will the get lost in the dangerous world of time travel. Read Thunder on the Moor to find out!

Thunder on the Moor by Andrea Matthews a far-away four-star read. This was my first read by this author and I would like to try them again as I enjoyed the descriptiveness of the story so much, but at times the actual story left me cold. It was very much all or nothing, I was so encapsulated for a couple of chapters and then a chapter that didn’t hold me and took me so long to read, then back to eagerly turning the page, if it was one chapter I would think it was me, but it happened later as well, I felt like if I could chop a couple of bits it would have been five-stars.

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed and I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is a historical time travel story that is engaging and kept me turning pages. It is a well written story that has characters that I had no issues connecting with. They bring the story to life and made me feel as if I was right there with them. I enjoyed how the author’s details made the story easy to read and easy to keep up with. Maggie was talked into going on an archaeological dig with her father. When she finds herself transported back in time, 450 years, she finds things are just as exciting as her father’s stories. This is where the story starts and was hard to put down. What happens next I highly recommend reading this book. I don’t regret picking up this book and neither will you. This was a great, historical story that I highly recommend.

I loved reading the book Thunder on the Moor by Andrea Matthews. It is a time travel romance that had me hooked from the very beginning. It is a story that includes conflict, romance, family, and danger. I loved the character of Maggie Armstrong. She is an intelligent, independent, feisty, and strong young woman. She follows her father back over four hundred years in the past. What does the future hold for Maggie? Read this book to find out. This story is one that had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. Maggie’s journey and experiences are interesting and intriguing to read about. I grew to care about Maggie with each chapter that I read. There are also additional characters that are introduced the I enjoyed reading about. The book has such wonderful detail and descriptions of the places that Maggie is in that I felt like I was right there with her. The author does an amazing job of making the story and the characters come alive. I love books that take me to the past and this story is a good example of the reason why. Don’t miss out on a book that is exciting and entertaining. I highly recommend reading it.

LOVED this book!! I absolutely adore historical romance and I haven’t found a good one to read for a while so when I came across this I grabbed it and settled down. It had everything I love in a historical romance, romance obviously, but also great characters, wonderful descriptive language, a great setting and great plot. This is also an author who is new to me and I just loved her writing style. I felt like I was right there with the characters, her wonderful detailed writing meant that I was easily able to imagine what I was reading. I love a strong heroine in these kinds of stories and Maggie definitely fulfilled that! She was such a great character to read about.
I would absolutely recommend this book and I am really looking forward to more to come from this author in the future!!
