Mission Improbable: Vietnam (A Blanche Murninghan Mystery) by Nancy Nau Sullivan – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Mission Improbable: Vietnam (Blanche Murninghan Mystery, #3)Mission Improbable: Vietnam by Nancy Nau Sullivan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book three of the series and the first book I’ve read by this author. You can read this book without feeling like you missed anything if you didn’t read book one or two. This book has a mystery plot that definitely pulls you in.

Blanche has an adventure in Vietnam while using her amateur sleuthing skills to find Jean’s mother. So many secrets and so much history woven through this story! You can tell the author either researched or has personal experience with Vietnam. It is so well written it’s like you are on the journey with Blanche!

It’s a good read and I may very well circle back and read the first two books in the series.

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 2) by April Moran – Review by Angelina Frazzini

A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet #2)A Heart So Savage by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book two of The Savage Duet. It picks up where book one left off so you definitely need to read book one first.

Kingston is a collector and Ava is no exception to that. The only difference is he begins to feel an attraction to her. Ava, after finding out her brother has abandoned her, struggles with her situation but eventually feels drawn to Kingston. She hates him and the situation he’s put her in but she can’t be without him either. Can these two have a normal relationship or will their circumstances be too difficult to overcome?

The chemistry between these characters is definitely off the charts. You want to hate Kingston like Ava does at first but as you read you understand him more. The characters and the story are very well written!

The Befallen (The Unsung and The Wolf Duology) by Cambria Williams – Review by Angelina Frazzini

The BefallenThe Befallen by Cambria Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is the debut novel for this author. This is a fantasy novel. It started off kind of slow for me but to be fair, I don’t typically read fantasy so I’m just not used to this style of writing. These characters were so well written. You feel Sloane’s persistence and strength. Sloane doesn’t quit and it really inspires especially given everything she’s had to overcome. The book was so well written you’d never know it was a debut novel. It made it worth reading!

While fantasy is not normally my jam, I’m glad I gave this book a chance. If you enjoy fantasy, this one is definitely for you!

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite Book 7) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Wicked Games (Hidden Valley Elite #7)Wicked Games by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book seven of the series. It is the first book of Shane and Winter’s Duet. This book was quite the ride!

Winter hasn’t had an easy life and now she’s choosing to go back to the source of all of her pain. She needs this though. She needs to work through and come to terms with the memories. When she sees Shane, she doesn’t know who he is but she can tell she’s meant to know him. The only problem is, Shane remembers exactly who she is. Shane didn’t think he’d ever have to see Winter again and now that he has, he’s not happy about it. He will, however, use this as an opportunity to destroy her. Will Shane’s plan work or will things change?

This book is just as good as every book in this series. You get sucked in and can’t wait to find out what happens. The character development is great. You can see them grow through the whole story. I absolutely recommend this book!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I don’t know what I expected when I picked up this book but I was not disappointed. This book was such a good read

Olivia is attending her ex husbands wedding. In the effort of not showing up alone, her kids convince her she needs to take a fake date. She does no expect Roman. At all. Olivia just needs to remind herself that no matter how great it’s going, it’s not real. It can’t be. Or at least Olivia is sure it can’t be. As the week progresses, Olivia and Roman grow closer. What happens when the island vibes end and reality sneaks in?

Olivia is such a relatable character. I’m not sure I’ve read any other book where the heroine battles menopause and all of the things that come with it but it was so relatable and real. Both characters were very well written. I was pulled into the story and couldn’t put it down!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I also don’t typically (or ever) read fantasy as a genre. This is a well written, detailed book. I appreciate the author’s detail in the world building and background of the story. The characters were well thought out and developed well throughout the story. You get pulled into the story and want to keep reading which is a good aspect of any well written story. I’m glad I took a chance on this one.

Beautiful Dangerous (Philly Heat Series Book 4) by Becky Flade – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Beautiful Dangerous (Philly Heat series, #4)Beautiful Dangerous by Becky Flade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book four of the series. This is a romantic suspense novel.

Hannah is still struggling with her brother’s murder. She turns to family and work to help get her through. Doyle is doubting his future but maybe he can redeem himself. Hannah needs protection from the person that has become obsessed with her and Doyle needs to redeem himself. Neither one of them knew that their closeness would lead to more issues.

This was a good read. The books don’t need to be read in order. There was just enough suspense to suck you in and keep you waiting to finish it. The story was well written. The progression of Hannah and Doyle’s relationship was realistic. I enjoyed this book.

Cruel Love: A College Sports Romance (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love: A College Sports Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book 6 of the series and just like every book before it, it’s amazing! This is the conclusion to Aspen and Phoenix’s story so it needs to be read after Cruel Start and Cruel Hate. I read this in one sitting! I can’t get enough of this series.

Aspen is finally realizing her feelings for Phoenix, just in time for Phoenix not to remember. Aspen is left fighting for her baby and fighting her feelings. She doesn’t know which way is up at this point. Lots of family drama and secrets come to light.

This book, as with the whole series, is so well written. You get sucked into the world and feel like you’re part of it. Definitely worth reading!!

This book was such an emotional read. I didn’t know what to expect when I picked this book up but I’m glad I gave it a chance.

Julie never wanted kids. She donated her eggs to help her brother. Never once did she think that one day she’d have to care for her brother’s kids but that’s exactly what happens. Julie’s life has been flipped upside down and she’s not sure she’s cut out for the work she has ahead of her. Grant shows up to help but can Julie trust that he actually wants to help her or does he have ulterior motives?

I couldn’t put this book down! I HAD to see how everything played out. These characters are real people struggling through real, relatable problems. Such a well written story!

Sing For Me (Balefire, #2)Sing For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book two of the series. This is Blu and Ashleigh’s story. What a good read!

Blu is your typical rockstar and he loves every minute of it. Ashleigh is nothing like he’s used to and he’s not exactly mad about it. He can’t stop thinking about her. Ashleigh just wants to put down some roots after moving all over most of her life. What she didn’t expect is Blu. She tries to steer clear but he’s pretty determined.

These characters are so well written and very relatable. The whole story is well written and sucks you in from the beginning. I couldn’t wait to keep reading! I definitely recommend!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book two of the series. It can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read book one prior to reading this and didn’t feel that I lost anything. However, it’s a good read so I’ll definitely go back and read book one.

Blake never considered being a nanny. However, you have to do what you have to do when you face dwindling savings after losing your job. That’s how Blake finds herself nannying for Morgan and his daughter. Morgan is facing a custody battle with his ex and the best way he can protect his daughter is with a live in nanny. That’s where Blake comes in. He didn’t expect her to fit so well.

This story is well written and the characters are great. Blake is relatable and her chemistry with Morgan was definitely there! This was a quick read but I couldn’t put it down!

Cruel Hate: A College Sports Romance (Hidden Valley Elite #5)Cruel Hate: A College Sports Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book 5 of the series. This is the first part of Phoenix and Aspen’s duet but Cruel Start should be read before this one. I have loved every minute of this series and this book is no different.

Phoenix and Aspen can’t seem to communicate without fighting. Which is pretty inconvenient when they are experiencing something they need to communicate about. I’m not going to say much about what happens in this book because I don’t want to give anything away but seriously, read it!

It is so well written. The characters are great, even though their behavior sucks sometimes. I was hooked from the beginning and can’t get enough of this series. There is so much angst and feeling you get sucked into the world! I highly recommend!

This book is a young adult/ new adult romance. It was such a good read!

Mina and Wesley are the best of friends until one day he’s gone with no notice. A lot has changed for Mina since she was the bullied kid in elementary school. It’s some kind of luck that Wesley ends up at Mina’s high school. They can’t believe it but they aren’t the same kids they once were. Can they get back the relationship they once had or is it gone forever?

This was a very well written story. I was pulled in almost immediately and couldn’t put it down. You really feel for the characters and their experiences. It’s very relatable even if it’s been awhile since you’ve been in high school. I really enjoyed this one.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I loved it!!

Ava has known the King’s her whole life. That’s what happens when you live on the property and your dad works for them. Theo has been her best friend for as long as she can remember. Theo has feelings for her but naturally Ava is oblivious. It doesn’t help that she’s got a crush on Matthias, the oldest King boy. She just wishes she knew why he treated her like crap. Cue a snowstorm that strands Ava and Matthias alone together for a couple days. Never in her wildest dreams did she think anything would change between them. She finds out Matthias has feelings for her and everything changes from there. With no warning, Ava’s dad sends her away to live with her aunt. Five years is a long time but now everyone is back together again. Will Matthias be happy to see her or will the one time be all they have?

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were so well written and there was a lot of feeling. The book grabs you and you can’t put it down until you figure everything out! I love it!

Complicated Choices by Risa Nyman – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Complicated ChoicesComplicated Choices by Risa Nyman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I’m so glad I did! This is a standalone novel.

Claire has the weight of the world on her shoulders. It’s her senior year and she’s got a lot of decisions to make. One thing she shouldn’t have to do is take care of her baby brother. She also shouldn’t be worrying about her mother and taking care of the house. She should be having fun with her friends and living up senior year. When he uncle gets involved, it seems like the problems will be solved. However, he places a pretty steep condition on his assistance. Put Harry up for adoption. Claire is not about to let her family be torn apart so while it seems like everything is in despair, Claire gears up for a fight with the help of some friends. What lengths would you go to to keep your family together?

This book was tough to read in the sense that you just know so many kids and teens are faced with the same or worse issues. It was very engaging. I was very impressed with Claire’s growth. At the beginning, she didn’t seem to care too much about her brother or having to take care of him. While she still resented being his sole caretaker, she definitely bonded and attached to him by the end of the book. The characters were well written as were the dynamics between everyone. I definitely suggest this book!

This book is a standalone coming of age story. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author but it did not disappoint.

Pyper has all the answers. Just ask her. She is a very positive, happy girl. However, the prospect of prom does not make Pyper very happy. In fact, the girl with all the answers knows prom needs to be cancelled. Through the story, Pyper learns more about herself and starts to realize, maybe she doesn’t have all the answers after all. How does senior year turn out for Pyper and her friends? Find out!

This was a very well written story. The character growth and development was on point. Pyper is a relatable character. I’m sure any one of us could relate to Pyper at one point or another. So glad I gave this book a chance!

Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite #4.5)Cruel Start by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is a prequel within the series. It introduces Aspen and Phoenix and sets up their story before their duet. It was a quick read and I read it in one sitting but it was good!!

Aspen is new in town. She’s not sticking around long though because she’s off to Thane for college. She meets Phoenix at a party and decides to take a risk other than cliff diving. Phoenix feels a pull toward Aspen and now that she’s pregnant, he’s going to step up unlike his own father. He doesn’t have time for or want a relationship but he’s going to be in his kids life. Having Phoenix involved might be the biggest risk Aspen takes.

This was a fast read but it sets up Aspen and Phoenix’s story very well. I can’t wait to read their duet!

This book is book three of the series. It can be read as a standalone but you don’t want to miss this series.

Heath has everything he could want. Except someone to share his life with. Of course there is one person he’d like to get to know more but she’s not his biggest fan. Another meeting between Heath and Grace may just change her mind though. Not sure that a relationship could work between them, Grace tries to push him from her mind. What will happen between these two?

This is such a good book. Much like all the other books by Bree Kraemer that I’ve read. You won’t be disappointed. It’s well written and the characters are great. You won’t want to put it down!

Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite #4)Brutal Nights by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book four of the series. This is the conclusion to Damon and Skylar’s story. You have to at least read book 3 before diving into this one. I could NOT put this book (or any of the series for that matter) down. I read it in a day!

Damon and Skylar have run into some road blocks. Gia is now privy to their secret and she’s not happy. Gia uses her newfound popularity to dump on Skylar and she’s decided the only way to right the wrongs is to take what Gia dishes out. Damon isn’t willing to go down without a fight though.

This book was a great conclusion to Sky and Damon’s story. The characters are great. You can see the growth Damon has went through since the beginning of the duet. Gia is not my favorite person. Her character decline was so well written, I still don’t like her. This book is so good! Definitely recommend the series.

A Toast for Laurent (Vine Valley, #1): A Small Town Fake Relationship RomanceA Toast for Laurent (Vine Valley, #1): A Small Town Fake Relationship Romance by Theresa Paolo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is the first of the series. It’s also the first book I’ve read by this author. It was a good read. If you love second chance romance, this is for you.

Phoebe and Laurent make a pact. If neither are married by the time they are 40, they marry each other. That was, of course, before Phoebe left and broke Laurent’s heart. Now she’s back wanting Laurent to hold up his end of the pact. As hesitant as he is, he agrees but there is a condition. Phoebe can’t fall in love with him. Laurent isn’t sure he could handle that a second time.

This was such a good read. The characters are so relatable in terms of letting fear influence choices and decisions. It was a well written story that pulls you in and you can’t wait to see how it unfolds! I highly recommend!

Sacrifice Bunt (Ground Rule Book 2)Sacrifice Bunt by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book two of the series. Each book can be read as a standalone but honestly both books so far have been really good so I recommend both!

Zara doesn’t do relationships. She has her career and her no strings attached approach to “relationships”. Noah poses an interesting challenge though. That being, he’s been attracted to her since he found her naked on his couch. Zara, however, just needs to convince herself that she can’t stand him and doesn’t want him. Can Noah be patient enough to win her over or will he get the message Zara is trying to send?

I really enjoyed this book. I’m not surprised though because the first one was good too! This book has just the right amount of push and pull between the characters. You quickly get invested in the story and can’t wait to see how it plays out. I highly recommend!

Figuring they are both going to the same place, Oz offers to go with her to the wedding. There is instant attraction between Oz and Maria. The only way to complicate things? Maria offers to finance his band. Now she’s his boss and they are walking a thin line.

Acting Counsel (Kings of Screen, #3)Acting Counsel by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 3 of the series but it can be read as a standalone. I didn’t feel like I missed anything in the story. It was so good though that I plan to go back and read the first two.

Catrina is level headed. As an attorney, she is great at keeping things professional. That is until her celebrity fling ends up being a client. There is a strict rule about not sleeping with clients. They are certainly going to test that rule. Nathan has everything he could want. Until he meets Catrina. He knows she’s off limits but that doesn’t change anything.

There is so much chemistry between these characters that it’s hard to read and not root for them even if they are supposed to be off limits. The book is so well written, I couldn’t get enough! I feel like I devoured it so quickly! Definitely going to read the other books in the series.

This is the third book of the series. It can be read as a standalone but it references characters and some things that happened in the first two books. Honestly, the whole series is so good you should just start at the beginning.

Gia wants a memorable senior year. Best year ever and all that. Sky, as Gia’s best friend, wants to support her and help her achieve whatever it is she wants to do. Sky doesn’t realize that Gia’s list includes Damon. She’s not happy about it but she does the only thing she can think of and that is ask Damon for a favor. Damon is intrigued by Sky and the best way to get to her is to help her out. What could go wrong?

I absolutely loved this book!! I can’t wait for the next book. It was so well written. The characters are great. You can really feel the turmoil Sky feels she’s in regarding her feelings about Damon. I couldn’t read this book fast enough!

This book is very well written. It pulls you in from the very beginning and you just want to keep reading to find out how it will end. You also don’t want it to end! It’s an emotional roller coaster but it pays off in the end. So so good!

Stay For Me (The Balefire Series Book 5)Stay For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book five of the series. While this book can be read as a standalone, there are reoccurring characters and it would be good to read from the beginning. I didn’t read in order and I don’t feel like I missed anything major. It was a good book though and I’m sure the rest of the series is so I need to go back and read the others.

Garrett did what he thought he needed to do for his career. He is managing Balefire and ten years ago, building his career meant giving up Olivia. Now the band is all settling down and Garrett realizes what he’s missing. Like the universe knew it was time, he runs into Olivia. Only now, he’s not giving up. Garrett walking away just about killed Olivia. Now though, she’s making it or at least trying to. Directing music videos is her passion. The only problem is her studio isn’t doing so well. Directing a video for Balefire would make a world of difference. The only problem with that is Garrett. Will these two put the past behind them? Will Garrett choose Olivia this time?

I really enjoyed this book. It was a good read. I was a little annoyed with Garrett at the beginning because he seemed very whiny that the guys were all settling down and actually took their women’s opinions into account. The annoyance does fade though and I’m glad I gave the book a chance. It was a good read and I enjoyed following Garrett’s development as a character.

Where Fire Meets Flame (Yours From the Ashes, #1)Where Fire Meets Flame by Elena Kincaid
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Travis is book one of the series. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author but it was a good read! It’s quick but it pulls you in until the end.

Riley and Tristan bump into each other and their connection is instant, even though Riley is sure Tristan doesn’t feel a connection. Tristan knows that his ex is going to be a problem and doesn’t want to bring that on Riley. Their connection builds as they continue to run into each other. Is that connection strong enough to withstand anything?

This book has it all. Suspense and steam are plenty! The characters are great and it’s very well written. The only thing you may find yourself wanting is more to their story. I highly recommend!
