More Text Than Sex by Jim Shomos – Review by Angelina Frazzini

More Text Than SexMore Text Than Sex by Jim Shomos
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I e read by this author. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into it but it was a good read.

Cat and Annie are organizing a songwriting contest. Thanks to the order of their boss, Robbie is now also working on this contest. Each character tells their perspective of working in the music industry because no two people experience something the same way. So many pressures come up for each character through the story and you see them fight to overcome everything.

This was very well written and I enjoyed it. Glad I gave it a chance!

Fighting Chance by Toni Denise – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Fighting ChanceFighting Chance by Toni Denise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is in the shorter side but definitely enjoyable nonetheless.

Kendall needs a story. While she isn’t fearless, she’ll do whatever it takes to get the story she needs. Then she meets Chad and everything she thought she knew is flipped upside down. Chad is the guy everyone wants. He is an MMA fighter so not only to all the women want him he’s the guy everyone wants to fight. Kendall isn’t the type of woman Chad usually deals with. He doesn’t know how to handle the fact that she doesn’t get all crazy over him like the others do. Chad isn’t your typical fighter and of course he keeps that close to the vest. Imagine how difficult it is agreeing to an interview when you know you are keeping secrets. These two have a lot of chemistry and once Chad gets Kendall to agree to a date, it should be smooth sailing. Will Kendall let down her guard enough to let Chad in or will their date be the start and end for them?

This isn’t your typical MMA story but I really liked that. The chemistry between Kendall and Chad was written very well. You could almost feel it jumping off the page. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be checking out more by this author.

Breathe Underwater by Anise Storm & Taylor L. Ray – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Breathe UnderwaterBreathe Underwater by Anise Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is all about second chances. It was a good read!!

Damian is an undercover FBI agent in the mafia. Damian no longer exists, on paper anyways. That’s never really bothered him even though he loses a little of his soul every time he has to do any job he has no choice but to do. Damian ends up in Texas for another job and runs into the last person he expected to see after so long. Evelyn pushed passed all the hurt and betrayal to move on with her life. Damian left her and that was all there was to it. These two have had their own struggles. Will they be able to reconnect and move past the hurt? Or is there too much history and now too much danger for these two to make it work?

There is a lot of chemistry between these two and you can’t help but root for them. There were so many emotions evoked with this book. I couldn’t put it down!

Defying Ella (True Platinum Series Book 4) by Morgana Bevan – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Defying EllaDefying Ella by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book four of the series. It can be read as a standalone. This book is a rockstar/forced proximity romance. It’s also the first book I’ve read by this author but I’m going to have to read the rest of the series because this one was good!

Ella met Jared, the man of her dreams. She didn’t expect that her dreams would be crushed a week later. She was sure she’d never see him again but fate is tricky that way. Now she has to spend more time than she’d ever like to with him and needs a break. That’s where the cabin comes in. Of course, again, fate had other plans and now they are stuck together even more.

Ella and Jared have crazy chemistry! Even when she hates him and they are fighting like cats and dogs, you can feel the tension in the best way! I really enjoyed this book. It was a good read!!

That would impress most people however, Tori has skills of her own and is determined to share that talent with the world. She has no problem showing everyone what she’s got. So much so that Cord feels pretty jealous watching Tori do her thing and snag the attention. Can these two work or will the jealousy and distraction be too much for them?

I enjoyed this book. It sucked me in and I couldn’t read it fast enough. It’s very well written as well as relatable. The characters work really well together and I enjoyed reading their story.

This book is book three of the series. It can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read any other books in the series yet but didn’t feel like I was missing anything.

Elle has had feelings for Raf for so long. She knows he’s one of her brothers best friends and is sure she’s invisible to Raf that way. Raf really struggles with his feelings for Elle. Is Elle in danger due to her connection to Raf?

I enjoyed this book. There was quite a bit of suspense and I was on the edge of my seat. I found myself really rooting for Raf and Elle. Their story was well written and I enjoyed being along for the ride.

Jake (Billionaire Blind Dates Book 1) by Toni Denise – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Jake (Billionaire Blind Dates Book 1)Jake by Toni Denise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book one of the series. I’ve never read anything by this author but I enjoyed this book.

Jake hasn’t had any luck with dating. Which is understandable when everyone knows who Jake is and how much money he has. It’s hard to know who is just using you for what you can do for them. During poker night, Jake’s friends talk him into not giving up and instead they are all going to use a blind date service but they can’t pick their own dates. Jake doesn’t really want to but figures he has nothing to lose. Lauren just wants to find a nice, respectful man to share a life with. She’s got a painful past and rich men who think they own the world are kind of a trigger for her. After some convincing from her bosses (who happens to be Jake’s friend Cade) sister, Catherine she decides to give blind dates a try, even if just to get her off her back. Neither Lauren or Jake expected these dates to ho anywhere but they click. What will happen when Jake and Lauren learn more about the other?

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the premise and the characters were easy to like. It was well written and I can’t wait to read the next book.

I Loved You Yesterday (Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 1) by Julie Navickas – Review by Angelina Frazzini

I Loved You Yesterday: Book One in the Trading Heartbeats TrilogyI Loved You Yesterday: Book One in the Trading Heartbeats Trilogy by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book one of the trilogy. This is a new to me author but I couldn’t get enough of this book! I can’t wait to see how the rest of the series continues.

This story is a second chance romance but it’s not as simple as that. Love never is though. I don’t want to give too much away because honestly, you just have to read it but there is lots of emotion and secrets. The dynamic between all of the characters really pulls you into the story. Mavis left to spare Josh but confided in his brother, Austin. Josh will stop at nothing to fight for what he knows he deserves. Even if that means going against his brother. What choice will Mavis make?

I was sucked into this book! It was so engaging and I felt invested in the characters and the outcome. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Thief (Popov Bratva #4)Thief by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book four in the series and can be read as a standalone. I’d recommend a reading age of 18+ as there are some adult situations and lots of steam. This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I have some catching up to do.

Dominik just has to do a job, which has never been an issue before, but now Leah steps in to prevent him from stealing a car and now everything is upside down. This interaction causes a rollercoaster of emotions and lots of drama. Leah has secrets and Dominik is learning that some rules should be broken.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The chemistry is off the charts and I couldn’t wait to see what the next page would bring. It was not hard to dive into this story until the end!

Hard Lover (Houston After Dark #2)Hard Lover by Deborah Garland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book two of the series. It can be read as a standalone. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I don’t feel like I’ve lost any of the story for reading book two first.

Things get pretty steamy between Noah and Callie. He can’t promise her forever but he can promise her a week. At least at the beginning. Callie has Noah questioning everything. Unfortunately, now his past is coming back to haunt him and it’s putting Callie in danger. Will the truth set them free or will Callie set Noah free?

I really enjoyed this book. Not my typical type with the exhibitionist theme but I enjoyed it nonetheless. There’s just enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat and more than enough spice. Definitely recommend!

This book is not your average romance but holy WOW! This is the first book I’ve read by this author and while she took care to add warnings, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m glad I read it though because it was so good. Intense but good.

I don’t want to say too much about the happenings of the book because honestly you just need to read it. I will say there are some heavy themes and potential triggers but if you can get passed those you might find yourself sucked into this book. It’s very well written with relatable characters. Definitely worth a read!!

Remember to Forget Me (Too Lost To Love, #1)Remember to Forget Me by Hazel Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a new to me author and wow! This book was great.

Wesley and Addison have a past. Due to an incident however, he’s forgotten six months of his life. Addison, being blamed for the incident, has been forced to watch from a distance as Wesley rises to fame. I don’t want to give too much away because this book is just too good to spoil. The chemistry between Wesley and Addison is out of this world. Even when he doesn’t know that he knows her, the chemistry is crazy. Sometimes it’s best if the past stays in the past. What happens when Wesley and Addison’s past comes back around?

I really enjoyed this book! There was so much emotion in this book. I couldn’t put it down! I couldn’t wait to find out how everything would play out!

Taylor’s Law by Jennifer Raines – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Taylor's LawTaylor’s Law by Jennifer Raines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a quick read by a new to me author.

Ella finds herself raising her niece, Tessa, after her sister loses her two year battle with cancer. After the funeral, Ella finds a letter for an appointment her sister had with a lawyer they do not have a good history with. She shows up to the appointment only to realize she may lose the loose custody she has of her niece. While all this is happening, Ella inexplicably finds herself drawn to Jake and while he’s sure Ella has something to do with her sisters apparent extortion plot, their chemistry is off the charts. As more secrets are unearthed, Ella isn’t sure who she has on her side but one thing she does know is she will fight for Tessa with everything he has.

I enjoyed this story. It was slightly different than most I’ve read and it kept me engaged. The characters were well written. There was a lot of emotion and tension in this book. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next!

One Unexpected Gift (Band of Sisters) by Marianne Rice – Review by Angelina Frazzini

One Unexpected Gift (Band of Sisters)One Unexpected Gift by Marianne Rice
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the fourth book in the series. This book, as with the others in the series, can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed Skylar’s story.

Skylar recently had a baby. She’s been on her own taking care of Gabriella but feels bad about shutting her sisters out so she travels to spend the rest of her maternity leave with them. She’s kept Gabriella’s father a secret this whole time. Running the summer camp with her sisters sounds just like what Skylar needs as she tries to maneuver motherhood. Nick runs a bowling alley and couldn’t be more thrilled to see Skylar walk in. He hasn’t seen her since they hooked up about a year ago. Skylar and Nick reconnecting brings up secrets from the past. Can these two face the challenges that will come their way?

Skylar is so independent and strong. She knows what she wants and she’ll figure out how to get it. I also enjoyed that in this book, Skylar is the one in the military. Guys are always portrayed as military so it was a nice change. Nick has his flaws, but doesn’t everyone. I really enjoyed these characters. The story was well written and the characters were genuine.

The Colors of Friendship (The Colors Trilogy Book 1) by K.R. Raye – Review by Angelina Frazzini

The Colors of Friendship (Colors Trilogy, #1)The Colors of Friendship by K.R. Raye
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book one of the series. I didn’t know what to expect but boy this book took me for a ride.

This book is about three friends who couldn’t be more different if they tried. Melody is the romantic dreamer. She is absolutely convinced she will find the love of her life and live happily ever after. She wants what her parents have and while there is nothing wrong with that, she places a lot of importance in finding her soulmate in college. Imani is tough and no nonsense. While she doesn’t think love doesn’t exist she doesn’t value it the way Melody does. Lance feels love doesn’t exist but outside of football all he needs to worry about is Melody and Imani. Melody meets Kevin and she’s sure he’s everything she’s looked for. Even when things begin to change she gives him the benefit of the doubt. Imani never had a good feeling about Kevin but Imani and Lance will be there for Melody no matter what.

This book is well written. It touches on some sensitive subject matter as it relates to abusive relationships but it was done well. There was a lot of emotion in this story as Imani and Lance navigated how to help Melody. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more.

Amber Waves of GraceAmber Waves of Grace by Jessica Berg
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book but I wasn’t disappointed. This isn’t just a romance, while that was a large part, there was also some mystery and suspense tied in that really kept your attention while reading.

Corrie came home to take care of the farm since her father is unable to. She doesn’t expect that her farm hand to leave unexpectedly and to find herself in need of help. The last person she expects is Aaron. Corrie has so much on her plate between the farm, her siblings and her parents that she leans on Aaron for support. Just as everything seems to be going the way it should, uncertainty shows up in the form of a stranger needing shelter. What lays ahead for these characters?

I really enjoyed this book! Corrie’s character shows what you do for your family in hard times. I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13, #4)Burned by Fire by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I was not at all disappointed. This book is book four of a series by a collaboration of authors.

Sol is being forced to retire and it’s going to ruin his life if he keeps going down this self destructive path of “coping”. Ember is a newly minted firefighter, which is everything she’s wanted. The only problem is she also wants Sol but her job might drive a wedge between them. Will Ember and Sol’s friendship grow into more or will Sol let her job tear them apart.

I am glad I picked this book up. I really enjoyed it! There’s a bit of angst and lot of emotions and chemistry! I definitely recommend!

Saved by Love (Bellevue Bullies Book 7) by Toni Aleo – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Saved by Love (Bellevue Bullies #7)Saved by Love by Toni Aleo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book seven of the series. It can be read as a standalone. This is the first book I’ve read by this author.

Evan prioritized himself over the sport he loves more than anything. Now retired from the NHL, Evan is going home and he’s going to work on his mental health. Going home leads him to the University of Bellevue and essentially to Callie. Callie knows what it’s like to have a limited number of people on your side. She makes it a point to show others the kind of care that her sister showed her. When she meets Evan, she is determined to be there for him.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were so relatable. Real people with real problems. I also liked that Evan’s struggle with his mental health and him prioritizing it was shown. People think men have to be all tough all the time and that’s not realistic. I really enjoyed these characters together and now need to read the rest of the series!

The Lie That Binds by Amy Argent – Review by Angelina Frazzini

The Lie That BindsThe Lie That Binds by Amy Argent
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book but I definitely enjoyed it.

Holly is the new girl at school. Almost immediately she can tell who the popular kids are and she finds out pretty quick what type of people they are. Just from her observations m, she assumes they are all alike. That is until she lays into Nathan and then inadvertently learns his secret. Nathan will do anything to keep his secret. He’s honestly confused that Holly doesn’t just blab it right away but he will keep the secret from getting out. Holly and Nathan start spending more time together and things evolve from there. A good lesson in things are more than as they appear.

I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down! Holly is a contradiction but in a relatable way. She’s sassy and self assured as that voice in her head but when it comes to actually standing up for herself she’s insecure and quiet. At first I didn’t like Nathan but you quickly learn there is more than meets the eye with him and he grew on me during this roller coaster of a book. I definitely recommend!

Victoriously Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 4) by Anise Storm – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Victoriously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #4)Victoriously Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book four of the series. I’ve enjoyed the other books in this series so I had no doubt I would like this one and I was not wrong.

Jonas is content being the playboy he’s been labeled. There’s been no shortage of falling in love all around him but he’d really rather not. He got close to someone once and that was more than enough. He’s got enough on his plate he doesn’t need to worry about relationships. Mackenzie fell for the wrong boy once and has paid for it ever since. Now she just needs to land this restaurant contract. Little does she know the contract just so happens to be for her worst nightmare/enemy. Will old feelings resurface or has the damage been done? One things for sure, when it comes to games, there’s usually only one winner.

I enjoyed this book. There were lots of emotions and more than just surface stuff going on. It was well written and the characters definitely had chemistry you couldn’t look passed.

Body Checked (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 2) by CJ Cartwright – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Body Checked (Astoria Bay Thunder #2)Body Checked by C.J. Cartwright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book two of the series and can be read as a standalone. Book one should be read for an introduction to supporting characters but book two does a good job and kind of recapping who they are.

Bridger is in a funk. His game is suffering and his playboy lifestyle might be starting to catch up with him. As he tries to reinvent his image, per his agent, he meets Tia. Tia has sworn off Bridger’s type. The attraction is off the charts. How is she supposed to turn him away? Rules of course! No strings is easier said then done. Bridger has never been one for commitment so why is it so hard to get Tia out of his head?

I really enjoyed this book! I couldn’t put it down. I kind of didn’t like Bridger in the beginning but he grew on me. The chemistry and the snark and the banter between Bridger and Tia really pull you in!

The Mastermind (WaterFyre Rising, #1)The Mastermind by Nadia Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book one of the series. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author but I was blown away!

Audri, despite being plagued with guilt, is the purest soul. She’s so sweet, determined, hard working. Remington is her older brothers best friend. He’s driven, intense, successful. As they spend more time together, it’s harder to ignore the chemistry. In the background, there are lots of secrets and a lot of suspense.

I could not get enough of this book! It has everything! I loved Audri’s character. She was very self-assured but also had moments of insecurity that was very relatable. Remi was so intense. The absolute definition of alpha with his inherent need to protect those close to him. I highly recommend!

Finding Starlight (Quimby Grove Book 1) by Shannon Nikole – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Finding Starlight (Quimby Grove #1)Finding Starlight by Shannon Nikole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book one of the series. I could NOT put this book down!

Ellawyn arrived in Quimby Grove haunted by her past. That’s where she found Starlight Books. Everyday she goes to Starlight Books and spends all day soaking up the feeling of safety she feels from the store and from Benji. Benji confides in Ellawyn that he’s sick and his grandson will be coming home. Little does Ellawyn know, meeting Beckett will change everything. Beckett doesn’t know exactly what he’s getting into when he goes home to Quimby Grove. He has no idea that his visit might just extend longer than he thinks. When he sees Ellawyn, he finds it odd that she spends the entire day at the store but also acknowledges that there is something magnetic about her. Ellawyn and Beckett start spending a lot of time together but something sinister is lurking. Will they be able to rely on each other and make it through the trials ahead?

I absolutely loved this book! I cried, I laughed, I loved. I don’t have enough great things to say about this story. Ellawyn is strong and brave and Beckett, while he is a fixer, recognizes her need to be a bit independent as well. These characters have incredible chemistry and I loved following their journey!

Unlikely to Tell (A Parker Lake Novel Book 4) by Olivia Sherwood – Review By Angelina Frazzini

Unlikely to Tell (A Parker Lake Novel Book 4)Unlikely to Tell by Olivia Sherwood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book four of the series. While it can be read as a standalone, I suggest reading the whole series. Not only is it great but you meet a lot of characters throughout the series as the series takes place in the same town of Parker, Oklahoma.

Karen lives her ideal life in Parker. Simple, quiet, uncomplicated. Just the way she likes it. She is very much unavailable. She has no desire to get close to anyone. Brody is coming home basically with his tail between his legs. He’s not the same kid he was before he left but boy does he feel like it. His job is in jeopardy and he has no clue what comes next. Karen and Brody meet and everything they’ve known seems to flip. Karen, after years alone, can’t fight what she feels and actually starts to confide in Brody. Brody, after “escaping” Parker has to decide if maybe New York isn’t where he’s meant to be.

I loved this book. The entire series has been great and this book was a great addition! I couldn’t put it down! The characters are always so relatable and it’s so well written you feel like you walk right into Parker as you’re reading. I definitely recommend!

Tickety Tock (Wicked Warriors MC Arizona Chapter) by Manda Mellett – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Tickety Tock: Wicked Warriors MC Arizona ChapterTickety Tock: Wicked Warriors MC Arizona Chapter by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was not at all what I was expecting, in the best way. This is not your typical MC romance but I was hooked.

Dwarf is part of the wicked Warriors Arizona chapter. He has a whole club of brothers and he knows he can’t compete, in the sense that he’s shorter than most. He’s pretty self conscious about it and realizes that if a woman could choose they would usually choose one of the taller brothers. He’s been burned in the past. Then there’s Raven, who he’s trying to help with whatever she’s running from. It isn’t until he meets Raven that he realizes there’s more to the world than he thinks.

This book had a little bit of a paranormal twist that I wasn’t expecting but it was good nonetheless. I really felt for Dwarf and his lack of confidence. It was really relatable and I was glad that it was included in the story. This was an interesting twist on an MC romance and I’m glad I picked it up.

Squid (Moto X Book 5) by Brooke May – Review by Angelina Frazzini

SquidSquid by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the fifth book of the series. It can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read any books prior to this one and I didn’t feel like I missed anything but I’m assuming supporting characters were introduced in the other books.

Levi thought he had it all until it all went wrong. He decided no more relationships. He would play the field and party like the best of them. That is until he meets Kindle and is knocked on his butt. She’s sassy and independent. She’s also the first one to turn Levi down – multiple times. He can’t get her out of his mind. After a chat with his dad, it’s time for Levi to grow up. He was reluctant to go into the office but he ended up with quite the pleasant surprise.

I couldn’t put this book down! I loved every minute of it. There were some chuckles and some holy crap moments which only added to the story. I definitely recommend reading this book. I am going to go read the rest of the series.

As Close to Perfect by Maria Jane – Review by Angelina Frazzini

As Close to PerfectAs Close to Perfect by Maria Jane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is the third book of a series but can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read the first two books but I definitely want to go back and read them.

Bree has not had much luck in the love department. Now she has rules. First and foremost, no more hunky athletic types. Then she meets Nate. She immediately shuts down any thought of dates between them. He’s the exact type she’s trying to stay away from right? Then there’s Steven. He checks all of Bree’s boxes. He’s career focused and driven. What more could she want? Except, maybe having the “perfect” person isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Why not get as close to perfect as long as it’s perfect for you?

I really enjoyed this book. Following Bree’s journey gives you an appreciation for how difficult the dating scene really can be while trying to guard your heart. Bree knows what she wants and has rules to get her there but she also realizes that it’s okay if you don’t follow your rules all the way because you might just get what you didn’t realize you need.
