My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The amount of twists and turns lead out for the readers throughout this beautiful novel was incredible. Many chapters included strange occurences that all made sense at the very end, keeping me on my toes. Royce and Michelle are so good together – from the moment they reconnected in Iceland, to all of their events and scenes together. Their tension is unreal!! This book left me stuck wishing this 70 chapter tale kept going, each chapter had me diving head first ready for more!! Now to jump into book 3 of this phenomenal series!

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1) by G.K. Brady – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers, #1)Taming Beckett by G.K. Brady
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story of two old acquintances really started off with a bang, quickly throwing us into the lives of Beckett Miller and Paige “Andie” Anderson. After Beckett’s lifestyle quickly goes down the drain pretty fast with one bad choice after another, Paige meets him in the midst of his crash. Together, they slowly begin to bond as friends while Paige’s husband acts like a huge piece of trash. In between the opposite lifestyles, endearing similarities, and huge events occurring between the two, it’s a great and fast read to a HEA with a HEA sneak peek.

Beast (Popov Bratva Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beast is a stunning mixture of mafia and beauty and the beast esque vibes. Leslie Georgeson creates a suspenseful story full of betrayal, slow burning love, friendship, family. Not to mention a chest full of the dark side of humanity to those different from the norm, and faith in the wrong people?! I loved the HEA with these two “weird” humans who found each other in the midst of their pain and sorrow, and the complicated journey they had along the way. All the piano scenes had my heart and soul trapped!

The Final BiteThe Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Highly recommend for readers who like short stories with suspense and interesting twists. With vampires, magic, werewolves, and ghosts, you don’t know what else will be thrown your way! Short, to the point, and with fated mates, you can not go wrong with this book. If only it was a little longer, but there’s plenty other stories by the author to keep us going!

The Sacrifice (Dragonpets Book 1) by R. L. S. Hoff – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

The Sacrifice (Dragonpets #1)The Sacrifice by R.L.S. Hoff
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can’t believe the first part to this series is over. I love the character development between Rilla and Vidar as they struggle between their new bonds and fight against Sir Drake and the purple dragon. The telepathy, bonds, and a protected library full of magic captivated me to the fullest. I need the second book to come out asap so we get more of the map magic and Rilla’s powers, maybe more of Vidar being human and children between the two!!

Shadow and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns Book 2) by Kay L. Moody – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Shadow and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns, #2)Shadow and Crystal Thorns by Kay L. Moody
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Chloe and Quintas, mortal and fae, back at it again to save the realm of Faerie from Portia and Julian, evil cold-blooded mortals who will stop at nothing to take over Faerie. With the help of Ludo, Mishti, and Shadow, Chloe’s dragon, Chloe keeps pushing through to save the people and return to the mortal realm to save her sister, Grace. If Chloe was clumsy before, she’s even more so now that she’s lost a foot, but that doesn’t stop her from discovering new creation magic methods and her apothecary practices to heal the land and themselves. The relationship between Shadow and Chloe, as well as Quintas and Chloe are growing stronger and stronger, with nothing to break their bond. Highly recommend! It keeps you on your toes in this fantasy adventure!

Flame and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns Book 1) by Kay L. Moody – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Flame and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns)Flame and Crystal Thorns by Kay L. Moody
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Chloe is a strong-willed apothecary hiding from the fae after a traumatic event in the Faerie realm when Quintas, a fae from her past, tracks her down in need of help. Faerie is under attack, and only Chloe has the creation magic possible to help stop the mortals from taking over the realm, hurting her own village townsfolk and family as well. She’s stubborn, smart, and tries her best to not give up when it comes to saving her loved ones. She may not be the strongest or toughest of heroines, but she certainly continues to do her very best. Plus there’s a sequel to this story too, so we can stay in this magical world Kay L. Moody created.

Operation Blackbird (Brass Compass Series Book 2) by Ellen Butler – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Operation BlackbirdOperation Blackbird by Ellen Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Operation Blackbird is a thrilling adventure sequence, similar yet vastly separate to its partner story The Brass Compass. Following the intelligent Miriam who struggles with war nerves from gut wrenching memories of the war, and Jake Devlin, an old friend from her past that brings more than Miriam was expecting to the table. The pair go through their own battles of the mind as they venture through secrecy involving the KGB many years following the destruction of WWII, as well as rescuing each other from past secrets and kidnapping. The amount of historical pieces that went into this story was phenomenal, such as the detail regarding the trauma and severe reality of the effect from the Iron Curtain. I fell into the depths so quickly, it was hard to escape with them! I could not put this book down, and I’m thinking I’ll have to reread it again and again. I’m really hoping Ellen Butler keeps this espionage series going, because my heart can not keep up with only two!!

Oh my goodness, Lily St. James is an absolutely stunning and brave woman. This brave and courageous hero did so many risky things in the face of the Nazi soliders. Following the death of her beloved mother, she continued the mission she was given, and never gave up to escape Germany. This WWII story of Lily is packed full of twists and turns that are based on true events from actual heros facing horrible Nazi decisions and actions. Incredibe novel.

Hungry Business: A Gothic Story about the Horrors of Dating by Maria DeBlassie – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Hungry BusinessHungry Business by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of the best short stories I’ve ever read. In the short amount of time you spend in this world, it’s a vivid nightmare of living and fighting the hungry as well as the isolation it brings. It’s dark, twisted, full of gore, and still left you wanting more. I wish we knew what happened after the ending with the man across the way! This author does a phenomenal job; I look forward to reading her other materials soon.

Operation Pinpoint (Space Force Rejects Book 1) by Landra Graf – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Operation PinpointOperation Pinpoint by Landra Graf
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This sci-fi book of fated lovers was phenomenal, hands down amazing. At first, I needed time to understand the ranks and roles within the Space Force, but once I did, the pages turned so fast as I dove deeper and deeper into the story of Ravenna, searching for her lover Yve, as she combats sudden feelings for Dravos, held captive by Space Force. Let’s go, LGBT+ representation! Ravenna and Dravos go through so much together, and stand up for each other once they held eye contact together. Finding Yve was absolutely heartbreaking, but I loved the tenderness Dravos had and encouragement to keep her memory alive and finding out what the cause of her death was. Which, the cause of her death, huge twist I was not expecting. Brilliant turn of events.

Defying EllaDefying Ella by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Previous hook-up, rising tension, and snowed in together? What could go wrong (or right)? I loved all of the family dynamics playing a part in the story, as well as the close tender conversations “Sparky” and “Buttercup” had together. This love story shows you to establish and respect boundaries, as well as being true to who you are and others will accept you as you are. Not to mention the saucy scenes between the stubborn and the brash!

Boss’s Vendetta (Sicilian Gods Book 1) by Via Mari – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Boss's Vendetta: Dark Mafia Romance (Sicilian Gods Book 1)Boss’s Vendetta: Dark Mafia Romance by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was incredible with some great twists and turns at the end that really jump out at you. Salvatore, the next likely Don of his group, keeping a close eye on Adrianna, the new doctor of a nearby urgent care in his mafia’s territory. It was unexpected, but reading about how the big, bad “devil” develops a big soft spot for the feisty doctor was brilliant. Also, having both view points of the 2 main characters was so nice to have! My only wish was for the steamy scenes and action bits to be a touch longer, as it feels right when it gets good, the tale moves quickly along to the next big event. Super good!!

I loved reading about Jake and Lauren. Their dates, as well as their “blind dating” set up was brilliant. Watching (well reading) them grow closer together was really sweet. Definitely not what I was expecting when I selected this novel. I’m even more excited about their friends and how their relationships pan out. So good!!

Hard Lover (Houston After Dark #2)Hard Lover by Deborah Garland

Steamy and mysterious? Count me in! If only these two had gotten together much sooner. However, the way this wonderful author has them get together, apart and back together is beautifully written. The bar scenes, and the cabin scenes, the best one could read!

My, oh my, do I wish this book was longer. You could actually feel not only the timeperiod and language spoken between characters, but you could feel the love blossoming quickly between Lady Celia and Gabriel. The villian in the novel was interesting and his ending was just as daring. Highly recommend if you enjoy historical romance with steamy scenes.

Ashes of Sin and StardustAshes of Sin and Stardust by Lindsay Murray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is unbelieveably sexy and funny, as well as full of interesting notes on BDSM. There is a lot of trauma based events as well, but it brings the two main characters closer. I’m also incredibly impressed with the amount of solid chapters this novel has. There are no boring points ever to be found, with PLENTY of funny or steamy scenes, or trauma flashbacks/details. Highly recommend!!!

This is the type of heroine every woman needs. She’s strong, courageous, loyal, and trustworthy (spoiler?). Quinnlynn and Kieran are a perfect match (let’s not forget steamy), and a powerful couple not to be messed with. The twist at the end was astounding and mind-boggling!

Swift and full of action! This book was bursting full of dramatic, lethal fighting sequences. The strong, brave heroine who has a quick tongue makes it hard to not instantly like her. That coupled with her newly-found bond to a mysterious alien made the plot so much more exciting.

Goddess of EverythingGoddess of Everything by Paul DeBlassie III
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This novel is so incredibly creepy, it’ll crawl under your skin. The detail and attention to the religion, let alone the power of the Mother, is terrifyingly real. The horrible, dark, yet cunning twists and turns this story takes as Gabriel runs to save his family is an adventure to be experienced. You really get to witness the power of love overcome the dark and twisted. Truly remarkable piece of art.

If you are interested into diving into the 1480’s, this book is for you. Not only is there arranged marriages and tension woven throughout the novel, there’s real historical details you can find present throughout. The character development between Isabel and William is beautiful, as they come together as a couple. 100% worth the time to read and get to know this old world.

I couldn’t wait to continue reading this book, and it was a sorrowful moment once the last page ended. From the moment you start on the first page, you’re thrown into a beautiful yet dangerous world, extremely vivid to the reader. Leo’s love and need to protect his family, even as a middle child, screams loudly to the reader. This plot is one of my new favorites, and I’m adding this author to my watch list! Gotta keep an eye on her future books!

Finding Starlight (Quimby Grove Book 1) by Shannon Nikole – Review by Ashley Cooper Hammontree

Finding Starlight (Quimby Grove #1)Finding Starlight by Shannon Nikole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The story was eloquently written, but the plot was a bit predictable at times. The characters were very tangible. It felt as if you could clearly visualize the characters, and picture their movements and actions. Overall, Finding Starlight is an incredibly good story, with a strong lead into what could be a powerful series.
