We love Lois Wickstrom books in this house, there is always so much to learn from her books. Things are Shaking is no different. I love how this book got my kids imaginations going about what they would do if they had their own magic wands. These books always lead to conversations about how we would handle certain situations. This was a great story with great illustrations that my kids love! I can’t wait to see what we can read next by this author.

My kids loved this story so much, they acted it out together while I read to them! We had to read it multiple times so they could act it out, see the beautiful pictures and then act it out all over again. It was great to read to them, we’ll be reading it over and over for the near future. Highly recommend!

My kids love this author, she always has them thinking, using their imagination in one way or the other. They learned to treat everything fairly. Wonderful story, their favorite part was the pictures and trying to guess what would happen next in the story based off of them, they never got it right, but it was fun (as mom) to see the wheels turning and them thinking up different things.

This was a lot of fun to read to my 2 younger kiddos. They laughed a lot reading it, and then went outside to the dirt and played their own version of the story. It was a lot of fun seeing them playing together like that. Let’s hope for no sibling rivalry now or in the future. We love this author; she always has my kids using their imaginations in interesting ways.

Even though this book is aimed toward middle school ages, I still read this to my younger kids (ages 5 and 8). It was easy to read to them and they understood what was happening in the story. They loved every minute of reading this to them and requested we read it again soon. In the meantime, they’ve been pretending to be like Gwendolyn and “shape-shifting” into different animals. It’s so much fun watching them use their imaginations.
