A Wallflower’s Wassail Punch (Once Upon a Widow Book 8 and Revenge of the Wallflowers Book 35) by Aubrey Wynne

An accidental female pugilist…
Lady Annette Page is twenty-four and ready to climb onto the shelf. Her first Season was a disaster after a duke’s son pinched her by the punchbowl, and she walloped him in the nose. And broke it. After five years, she has yet to live down the scandal. Her father hopes to remarry, but his betrothed will not agree until Lady Annette is gone. With an enormous dowry offered for her hand, the earl hosts a house party at Christmastide. The men arrive, hoping to claim her fortune, while the ladies continue to dredge up the past.
A handsome viscount with a sense of humor…
Lord Wilkinson has been a widow for twenty years. Now that his daughter is betrothed, he is ready to consider taking another wife. Invited to a house party by an old friend, he arrives to find the earl’s daughter is the guest of honor, and the week of revelry is a ploy to marry her off. Wilkinson is surprised the other gentlemen view her as a quiet, awkward female. The viscount, seeing a striking, intelligent woman with a dry wit only he seems to appreciate, comes to her rescue.
Add a walloping wassail punch…
When the two become allies, their partnership soon goes beyond friendship. But will Lady Annette’s age and the viscount’s interfering daughter keep them from a happy ending under the mistletoe?

This is the first book I have read by this author and I assure you that it will not be the last. What a beautiful story of Helen, who elopes but finds that life is not what she thought it would be. After the death of her husband she takes her daughter home to her family. Enter the dashing Earl of Griffith, who is tasked with escorting Helen to her family home. The story touched my heart and I loved how their story unfolds. The words of this writer are very poetic and beautiful.

A historical romance that had me hooked into reading the book to the end in no time! I’m sure this is the first time I’m reading a book written by this author. I enjoyed the way she wrote about the characters so that I could connect with them but specifically with Helen. Conway describing Helen as a ray of sunshine, something clicks for him to find ways to show Lady Helen that she needs to be open to finding love again struck close to home for me. I enjoyed this romance for the hope and the strength to carry on after a tragic event. Another good series & author to look for in the near future.

Earl of Griffith is the sixth book in the Once Upon a Widow series and is a Historical Second Chance Romance that once you start reading its hard to put down. I’m a huge fan of not only this author but this series and this one is definitely my favorite yet. This authors style of writing and attention to detail along with fully developed characters make for a wonderful story. Lady Helen and Earl of Griffith take us on a journey at times I got emotional and my heart broke for them both. I highly recommend reading this fast paced story to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Soo, I picked this book mainly because I was in the mood for a historical fiction book, the fact it was also a romance was an added bonus. I definitely was not expecting just how much I was going to enjoy the Earl of Griffith. This book was short, amazingly sweet, and packed a massive punch in those pages. I was sad at first but once I got into the meat of the story I was sucked in. The care, sweetness, and love that Conway showed Helen, and Maeve, and how Helen had to heal, and overcome her fears was so well done through this novel that I didn’t want to stop reading. I laughed when Griffith is courting Helen through his letters but keeping his friend Gideon on his toes by having fun with Maeve all the while. This book really included it all. If your looking for a sweet, clean, stand alone romance, that includes some historical fiction elements this is a really good one to try!

I read this in one sitting unable to complete any other tasks as it had my complete and undivided attention! This is part of a series, but I read it as a standalone and didn’t feel lost at all. However, after reading this book I am absolutely picking up not only the rest of this series, but other books by this author as well. I am addicted to their storytelling capabilities. I felt like I took an emotional journey along with Helen and Conway, twisting and turning in a will they, won’t they read. Maeve is also a gleeful addition to the story as most children tend to be. I loved every scene she was in! If you enjoy romances on the cleaner side but still full of the raw emotions of a second attempt at love, please pick this one up. It’s a quick read and given the chance, it will sweep you off your feet!

This was such a good sweet book! It’s a little on the shorter side (at least compared to what I normally read) but it’s so good! The steady patience that Conway has for Helen is so sweet and pure! I couldn’t get enough of these two! It can be read as stand alone novel, and it’s absolutely worth the read! A very, very short and sweet romance. Give it a read!

Earl of Griffith (Once Upon a Widow) by Aubrey Wynne is a great historical romance.

You will pay close attention to every word Maeve says. After Roarik O’Neill was killed in the midst of Ireland’s political instability, she is leaving Dublin with her mother Helen. Despite the opposition of her family, Helen, an earl’s daughter, married Roarik after being swept away by passion and adventure. She and Roarik didn’t live in a mansion like a lady would; they made due with a small flat and her scant supplies. Helen was upset by her living situation as well as the fact that her husband loved Ireland more than she did. As a result of her late husband’s political engagement, Helen, now a widow, is leaving Ireland. She does this to protect herself and her daughter from any harm.I found it to be a sweet and moving romance with appealing characters and a heartwarming plot. I adored the overwhelming allure of the Earl of Griffith, widow Lady Helen, and her gorgeous daughter Maeve, as well as their touching tale.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even more one-of-a-kind characters. The story really transports you into their world. I couldn’t put the book down.

This was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. I really liked the characters. It has been awhile since I have read a historical romance and I quickly was reminded of why I enjoy them. The author does a great job with her writing. Helen is coming home as a widow with her child. She meets Conway who was sent by her brother to retrieve them. There was something about Helen and her daughter that grabbed his attention. Can Conway get through Helens walls and convince her to give him a chance? This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This book is the sixth one in the series and is just as good and as endearing as the others. I seemed to connect with this book much more than the others, the characters and the story. I loved the connection between the characters. It seemed so natural and real.
The story the author has created is fun and lighthearted. It is the perfect feel for this kind of book. I easily engaged with this story and wanted to see how things would play out. I always really enjoy books by this author and this one is one of my favourites.

This is the 6th installment in the Once Upon a Widow series; however, you can easily read it as a standalone. There are ties to the other books in the series, but nothing too specific that you can’t figure out what’s going on. I stepped outside of my typical romance genre for this read (I typically like my romances dark and extra spicy) but I really did enjoy this historical, sweet romance. Other than the bit of drama at the beginning in which leaves Lady Helen a widow and returning home with her three-year-old daughter, Maeve, this story is fairly drama-free. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Lady Helen and Conway, Earl of Griffith. I would absolutely recommend this book, especially if you are looking for a palate cleanser between darker readings.

Earl of Griffith is the sixth book in the Once Upon a Widow series. The Regency romance drew me in, and I finished this in one go. I haven’t read other books in this series, but I was not lost with the story. Lady Helen is widowed with a toddler. Will she ever let anyone in romantically again? While escorted by Conway to London, they develop a friendship that evolves into more. I enjoyed this sweet story of finding and giving love a chance after being hurt. The characters were delightful and charming. I had been looking for a romance that wasn’t overly erotic, and this hit the right spot. The story is not complex and full of deep meaning. Instead, this is a sweet, historical romance that reminds one that love can be found anywhere. I look forward to picking up more from this author in the future.

I really enjoyed this historical romance. It is a very sweet story about love, heartache and finding love again when you least expect it. The author does an amazing job of transporting the reader to that time period and really bringing it to life.

Helen was swept away by love at a young age, so much so that she leaves her home where she is a Lady, travels to Ireland and gets married against her parents wishes. She was young and thought she knew it all but how wrong she was.
Fast forward and she now finds herself alone with a 3 year old daughter. Returning to her family home all she wants is to be safe. Romance is the last thing on her mind. Until the Earl of Griffith walks into her life.
Their meeting was a act of fate you might say when Helen’s brother asks him to collect her from the ship. As soon as he lays eyes on Helen he knows she is the one for him and when he finds out the truth about her being widowed he plans to make Helen his.

This story is beautiful. Helen is dealing with a lot of grief and doubts about her judgement after everything she has been through and she is scared to let Conway close to her incase she gets hurt. But Conway is a patient man and I found it so beautiful how patient he was in allowing her to realise what he knew all along that they were meant to be together.

Helen was a girl full of love and adventure for her 1st husband, but the latter was just so but not for her, but for his country. After just 3 years that country will take him away from her and she will suffer greatly.

Conway was a gentleman in all  that matter, his business, partners and taking care of those he loved. Begin this kind of man helps a friend in need, one whose sister must be escorted safely back to home. Oh but destiny has all in hand, and the red ribbon will act.

A short and fantastic romance full of friendship and the power of healing, this story is for one cozy sitting.

A beautiful story about a second chance at love when you have lost hope in the idea.  I will say I was skeptical about whether a man who had obviously gone after the cream of the crop would then treat her like this. BUT it is only for first chapter or so before we move forward in time to meet the real hero of the story.  I thought the self doubt she had about remarriage was very realistic. I loved how they met and how their romance unfolded.  I also felt like the sentiments and sweet nothings were spot on.  I don’t normally feel this way in romance novels though I love to read them.  Sometimes it feels forced or over the top, but I found the words very beautiful.  Wonderfully written!  And yes, I have already searched for more books by this author!

I absolutely love historical romance and this story did not disappoint! I found it to be a very sweet story with two wonderful main characters. I had not read the previous books before this, but I loved that the author gave us the different POV’s so we could see what the different characters were thinking and feeling. The author did a wonderful job of describing the characters and the scenery, so you feel like you are really there in the story. Lady Helen and her daughter Maeve were such a sweet pair and seeing how much she loved her daughter was so heartwarming. I loved how sweet Conway was with Helen and how amazing he was with Maeve. This book is such an amazingly sweet historical fiction. The kind that you have a hard time putting down, that you are disappointed when it ends. These characters are well written with such depth and believability.
Let me start by telling you that this is book 6 in the series. However, it definitely functions as a standalone. This is the first book in this series that I have read and I was not lost or confused at all. This is not the last book in this series that I will be reading though. I just ordered all of them to catch up.
This is a well written second chance romance with so much believability. There are many times when I read a second chance romance and I feel like it all is so unbelievable. However, this did not seem forced, rather I felt like I was transported back in time and it all made sense. I felt the chemistry between the characters and definitely found myself rooting for them. I definitely recommend picking up this story if you get a chance as you will not be disappointed.

I love historical fiction, and this one did not disappoint. This book is part of a series, but it works well as a standalone. I have not read the others in the series and had no problem reading this one alone. The main character, Helen, is impetuous and runs away to marry Rory O’Neill. She doesn’t realize that she will be leaving behind luxury, plentiful food, and even regular bathing. Helen works hard to make a home for her, Rory, and later their little girl, Maeve. When Rory is unexpectedly killed, Helen must leave behind the home she has made, but she is thankfully able to go home to her family. Her brother sends Conway Griffith to escort her home. Conway becomes smitten with Helen and with little Maeve. Helen struggles to believe that love can be safe and that she can be free to love again. This was a sweet love story with no language and no explicit scenes. I loved it and highly recommend it!

Sweet romance
This romance set in the Regency era quickly captures your heart. The sixth book in the Once upon a Widow series weaves a tale of jaded hearts, secrets and second chances. It’s a ‘clean’ romance and had some snippets of characters from previous books but not as overlapping as other books. With multiple POVs and engaging storyline this is a worthy read. Recommend.

This is a short historical romance but despite being short it captivated me. It was the perfect balance of emotional (sad) and sweet happier moments. The descriptive writing had me right there with the characters, experiencing the same things they did.

I was rooting for the characters from the beginning, they were written well and were so lovable, I couldn’t help but want them to succeed.

My only wish would be for the book to be longer, so it wouldn’t be over so soon. But I recently discovered that this was part of a series, so I’ll definitely be checking out the rest!

Earl of Griffith (Once Upon a Widow Book 6)Earl of Griffith by Aubrey Wynne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a sweet Regency romance with wonderful characters and a storyline which kept me hooked throughout. Lady Helen, who eloped with an Irishman when she was young and naive, is now having to return home as a widow with her three year old daughter. Her homecoming is bittersweet as she has to face her family and ask for forgiveness. However, as she returns to England it is not a member of her family who greets her but a friend of her brothers. Welshman, Conway, Earl of Griffith has a lonely life full of responsibility having assumed his title and Welsh estate at birth. He agrees to help a friend by escorting his sister from Bristol to London, but he wasn’t expecting to feel an instant connection with Lady Helen and her daughter. Helen meanwhile, is disillusioned with love and concentrating on raising her daughter alone, but the handsome Earl has a way of charming them both. It’s not long before Griff’s affection turns to love, and although he sees the haunted look in Helen’s eyes he is determined to convince her that love is worth another chance. I loved Helen and Griff and their chemistry came across in the writing, and I liked how their relationship developed throughout the story. The descriptive narrative brought the Regency setting vividly to life, and along with the added historical details I felt immersed in the era. An enjoyable and engaging read.

I loved this story so much. I love historical romance read and this author knows how to write them well! She creates wonderful characters who you cannot help but fall in love with and her attention to detail means that I can easily imagine exactly what is going on in the story as I’m reading. Lady Helen was such a lovely character and I really felt for her and everything she had been through. I think it was obvious once Conway met her he could see the type of person she was. I could really feel how Lady Helen struggled to let Conway in after everything that had happened in her past but I thought they made a lovely couple.
Another great addition to this series and one that I would highly recommend.

Earl of Griffith (Once Upon a Widow Book 6)Earl of Griffith by Aubrey Wynne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Earl of Griffith is Book Six in the Once Upon a Widow series. It is a beautifully written historical, second chance, romance novel set in the early 1800’s. The author has done a wonderful job of drawing the reader into the story with a compelling storyline and vivid descriptions of that time period that make you feel as though you are right there with the characters. The characters are enduring, engaging, lovable, and relatable. Lady Helen is someone that your heart immediately goes out to when she elopes at the tender age of sixteen to be with the man of her dreams. Arriving at her new home she quickly discovers that the marriage she had envisioned to the man of her dreams is not what she expected. She feels sad, lonely, and helpless as she is living in shabby conditions and left alone for lengths of time by her husband. When Lady Helen’s husband suddenly dies and leaves her with a three-year-old child she finds herself fleeing from her home for fear that her life may be taken next.

Lady Helen returns to the family she left behind and makes amends for going against their wishes to elope with the Irish rebel. She plans to attend her brother’s wedding and meets his friend who has been sent to act as her companion. The Earl of Griffith spent all his time looking after his duties and has never had time or a need for romance. Once Conway meets Lady Helen, he realizes that he has been missing out on love and begins to pursue her. Lady Helen is not interested after being conned by her first husband and insists she will never marry again. Conway does not give up that easily and insists on charming Lady Helen. Naturally Lady Helen is reluctant to love again after being hurt and left as a widow, so she is not easily charmed. However, Conway is sweet, kind, caring, loving, gentle, and hard to resist. A great read with love, loss, angst, tears, laughter, insecurity, doubt, hope, romance, and a second chance at love.

Earl of Griffith (Once Upon a Widow Book 6) by Aubrey Wynne. I love this author and this series. She has a way with these historical romances where you feel as if you are actually there in that time period. This is the 6th book in the Once Upon a Widow series and its as good if not better than the previous books. Its the story of Lady Helen who finds herself in a mess, she is a widow with a small child. He falls in love immediately. Helen has her walls up and insists she is never going to fall in love again or marry but the Earl has other ideas. Conway has been all about his work all his life and serving the people but when he meets Helen he realizes he’s been missing out on love. Will he be able to convince Helen to take a chance on him?
