Breathless in Love Audiobook (The Maverick Billionaires Book 1) by Bella Andre & Jennifer Skully – Review by Amanda Glaspie

What happens when two people meet that don’t think they deserve love, it creates a fun love story. Will, one of the maverick billionaires, accepts the request to come view his car collection from an exuberant young man, Jeremy. He didn’t expect, Harper, Jeremy’s sister, to instantly catch his eye. Harper can’t help her attraction to Will but is afraid to let it grow due to his play boy attitude and her need to take care of her brother. This is a book that shows we all deserve love even when our past says otherwise. I enjoyed watching the growth in Will, Harper, and even Jeremy.

Multi-awarding winning author Dana Wayne is a sixth-generation Texan and still resides in the Piney Woods. A sought-after speaker and die-hard romantic, her stories are filled with strong women, second chances, and happily ever after.

“I’ve had a love affair with words my whole life and from an early age, aspired to write. That dream became a reality with the release of my first book in the summer of 2016. I was over the moon when it received first place in a state-wide contest, and I never looked back.

“I’m all about the romance; that excursion two people take from ‘I’ll never love again’ to ‘Happily Ever After’. My stories are very character-driven versus plot-driven and typically include a splash of humor and suspense. While they are a bit steamy at times, I believe true romance is about emotion, not sex, and the journey is more important than the destination. “

Ashes Audiobook (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Ashley is a quiet young student who just wants to finish high school and go to college. At home she is treated like Cinderella, by her step mother and 2 mean step sisters. She also works at the mortuary putting makeup on the dead.  Then there is Harry forced to go back and finish high school. He’s a bad boy rock star and all the girls are after him. This is it! No spoilers. This is one of those stories you need to read. The author has written this fast paced teenage high schoolers story. There are bullies, mean girls and a mean step family. What a great coming of age story for the teens. Adults will enjoy this too, I did. I’m looking forward to the next book in this exciting series.

Ashes Audiobook (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Bobbi Wagner

I enjoyed listening to this audible book.  This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up and I was excited to pick up one of her audible books.  This is a great fairytale story where the narrator brought the story to life using different tones of voice.  I also enjoyed how they were able to keep me engaged.  It had me coming back for more.  This is a great story that will make you question fairytale magic.  Does it have a place in life or is it just that a fairytale?  The characters have great chemistry and are supportive of each other throughout. I highly recommend this audible, I can’t wait for the next one.

Ashes Audiobook (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Taylor K Stephenson

~ Super Cute Re-Telling of Traditional Fairy Stories~

This is a super adorable modern day telling of Cinderella. Absolutely love the YA feel, and and character interactions. Ashley is a super adorable kick-ass heroine. She has to deal with haters, a dysfunctional family, and at times self-doubt. When a celebrity lands in her lap she is at least to say thrown off course, or perhaps may choose a new one.

Ashley takes fate into her own hands, and develops her own story taking us along the ride with her. This unlikely tale is riveting, unique, and full of “good-feels.” I like that Harry has a mind of his own, and we get to see what his side of the classic Cinderella story might have looked like. Either way, this modern re-telling allows us such a fun way to experience the tale. Harkins throws us into such a fun spin you definitely won’t be disappointed.

The audio book version is extra fun, Michelle does an unbelievably good job of bringing the characters to life, and keeping you captivated the whole way. You certainly don’t want to miss out on the audio version as you get an additional spark of life with Ashley and Harry’s romance.

Ashes Audiobook (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

This book was wonderful, more current of age fairytale story. Ashley Adams was more of an outcast at school…… being a high school senior and having to help work at her family business at a funeral home. When pop star Harry James has to attend the same high school as Ashley…all the girls are starstruck….except for Ashley at first. Harry must stay out of trouble due to his past and keep a clean nose….while his life is controlled…..Ashley is controlled by her evil stepmother and stepsisters….everyone is trying to keep Ashley and Harry apart ….and evil lurks and will stop at nothing from the couple to be together. Deceit, lies, mean girls, social media, danger around every corner. This story is wonderful….and a twist at the end I didn’t see coming! Looking forward to more to this series!

Ashes Audiobook (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Ashley Hasting

Ashley Adams has had a rough life, and she feels that it will always be that way. Her stepmother owns a mortuary, and she has to work in it after school. She always believed she will be by herself. That is till she meets Harry. This famous popstar hid in mortuary and found love at first sight with a dead body nearby. Her stepsisters and mother are doing everything they can to get in the way. During all of this, there are fairies at work helping her have love. I love the romance, friendship, and drama in this story. Can’t wait for the next book!!

Ashley Adams has shut herself off to people and the world around her. Harry James is a misunderstood popstar. Ashes is a cute Cinderella style story with its own cute little fairies twist. Will the fairies be able to do their jobs correctly? Will Ashley open up or keep her heart hidden and locked down? How will her stepmom and stepsisters affect her life? So many questions, that will all be answered in this story. This book was very fun to listen to and follow. Can’t wait to pick up the next story in this series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ashley and Harry are just two high school students trying to make it through the last 6 months of their senior year. Except Ashley works in a funeral home with her crazy step mother and evil step sisters, and Harry is a famous pop star sent there on punishment. This is not just another Cinderella story. There are intense plot twists that keep you hooked into this story up until the last word. Read this book, because I can’t wait to read the next one!

Ashes Audiobook (Modern-Day Fairy Tale Book 1) by MK Harkins – Review by Kerry Baker

I loved this book when I read it for the first time. It felt like such a fresh and imaginative way to retell a classic tale. So when I saw the audio book version I just knew I had to give it a try, and it was definitely worth it! I felt like I become so much more involved and invested in the character and the story. I found myself getting lost in the narration and pulled into the familiar story once more.

I enjoyed the fact that it really does feel like a new way to reinvent Cinderella, a story that has been told time and again. The author has done a brilliant job of making the story their own and the audio book brings that to life. This is a great book to try today.

When an author does a fairytale retelling it can go wrong or like in this case it can go AMAZINGLY RIGHT.

This modern day retelling of Cinderella was done with respect to the original. The storyline took some twists from the original that just made this book even better then I thought it would be.

Be warned there is some heartwrenching parts that will make you ugly cry. But it’s totally worth it.

This book sucked me in from the very first chapter. It is a brilliant modern day Cinderella Story. Ashley and Harry make such a great couple. This book had me laughing out loud one minute and wanting to throw my phone at the wall the next. This is the first book I have listened by this author. I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the books in this series.

This is also the first time I have listened to a book narrated by Michelle Shure. I really enjoyed her voice. It made the story flow and brought the characters to life.

5 out of 5 stars
What a wonderfully original retelling of Cinderella. I found the story to be relevant to today’s world. Ashley is a strong and brave young woman. She has a battle ahead and she takes no guff. I found the interactions with the characters, such as the M & M’s, Veronica, Laura, and Harry James were so relatable. The plot twist of solving the poisoning and attempted murders was a great twist. The narration was good. I did feel it could have used a bit more variation of voices. A fun audio read for any age.

Never Is A Very Long Time (The Perfect Date Book 1) Audiobook by Donna McDonald – Review by Ashley Hasting

Dr. Mariah Bates has had a roller coaster of a few years. She quit her radio job, started her own dating business, and during that, was also going through a nasty divorce. Her ex-husband was a cop who tried getting every penny out of her. During all of this, she meets a detective of her own who becomes a wedge for good and bad. I love the whole plot of this book!

Never Is A Very Long Time (The Perfect Date Book 1) Audiobook by Donna McDonald – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

Sweet and refreshing story …I loved that the characters were a bit more older.

Mariah is a successful businesswoman trying to find the “perfect dates” for her clients while dealing with the aftermath of a divorce. She is strong and professional… I love this about her character. When she meets Detective John Monroe for the first time, she wants nothing to do with especially since her ex husband, Dan, is a detective too. As John peels back the layers to Mariah’s heart.. would she give John a chance?

Sweet, fun romance that was a great listen.

Never Is A Very Long Time (The Perfect Date Book 1) Audiobook by Donna McDonald – Review by Kerry Baker

I thought this was an entertaining and amusing story, with some brilliant characters to back it up. When listening to this book I really connected with the story. I tend to find that books with older female characters are poorly done and I find it hard to connect with them but this author has done an amazing job at making the character so relatable. She is funny, strong, real and I really enjoyed reading about her. She has so much going on and yet she never seems to let it get her down for long. This is a new author to me and I think this was a great book to start with. It is easy to read and a well written story. I will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.

Never Is A Very Long Time: A Romantic Comedy About Dating After 40 (The Perfect Date Book 1)

I really enjoyed listening to this book.  The AI narration took a minute to get used to, but it didn’t take long to get lost in the story and forget about it.

Mariah is what all women my age need to be like if they find themselves in a similar situation with an ex-husband or ex-wife.   So often we are expected to just deal with it, and most do at least for a while.  Then something happens and she decides she is going to fight every step of the way.

Mariah deserves all of the happiness and success she gets.

Never Is A Very Long Time is the first(Audio)book in The Perfect Date Series and my first book by this author. This is not at all what I was expecting, it was so much better than I thought it was going to be. This is a Contemporary Rom-Com that pulled me in from the beginning and I literally listened to the whole book in one sitting. I truly enjoyed listening to this fast paced story and the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life and keeping your attention. This is a story about Mariah and John, she us newly divorced from Dan who is a cop (detective) who is determined to ruin her and her new dating(match making business. She used to have a show on the radio but gave it up to start a new adventure. Her ex is a real piece of work and I wanted to punch him a couple of times, he’s not a nice person. Then there’s John he works with her ex and you can tell he doesn’t much care for Dan.. She vowed not to date but what will happen when the match maker meets her own match? These are sweet together and there’s definitely attraction between them. Will she give into the attraction and give John a chance? I highly recommend listening to this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to many more books by this author.

4 out of 5 stars
I loved this story. Being an older, divorced woman, I love revenge stories. The chemistry between John and Mariah is perfect. However, her mom stole the show. Humor, romance, revenge and fun made for a good read. It needed human voices to narrate. I did find the AI read to fast and really had no inflection. Other than that small glitch, good audio book.

Fairy magic has no place in the modern world – or does it?

Ashley Adams doesn’t have time for haters. Already too busy dealing with dead bodies after her stepmother purchased a mortuary, she is ready to put the lid on her judgmental peers and finally bury her high school experience. Falling in love was the last thing on her mind.

Too bad fate had other plans when the local celebrity lands in her life.

Pop sensation Harry James is ordered by the court to attend public school for his senior year or face jail time. He can’t afford any bad press if he wants his summer tour to go ahead. But when he ducks into the mortuary where Ashley works to escape a mob of fans, he wonders if he is chasing the wrong dream.

High school mean girls, a controlling publicist, and scheming stepsisters want to keep Ashley away from Harry. After all, everyone knows the popstar doesn’t belong with the social outcast.

If only they had some fairy magic to help them find their happy ending…

Ashes is a fun and snarky standalone YA romance. If you like captivating characters, emotional twists and turns, Fairies and Cinderella retellings, then you’ll adore MK Harkins’ fast-paced tale.

Contains mild swearing and off-page violence.

Lou already has the perfect boyfriend.

She shouldn’t be attracted to the brooding beach boy who picks her up from the airport on her Hawaiian vacation.

Keoni isn’t even her type. She prefers a man who wears a suit to work and cuts his hair regularly, not a dangerously sexy surfer who hates tourists.

Keoni says he wants nothing to do with Lou, so why does he keep showing up every day to play tour guide?

As Keoni shows Lou his favorite places in Hawaii, she falls in love—both with the island and the man who embodies the rugged spirit of paradise.

She learns quickly enough that aloha is more than just a greeting and resisting Keoni might be the hardest thing she’s ever had to do.

This is a romantic comedy about dating in you 30s, 40s, 50+. Mariah Bates owns the Dating App that matches mature adults with each other for Perfect Dates. The fun ensues as she tries to stay one step ahead of her vindictive ex-husband. Detective John Monroe may turn out to be Mariah’s Perfect match. Mariah’s ex-husband continues to bring problems to her door but this latest one comes with a new twist and his name is John. Mariah thought that her ex turned her off of men for good, but John does something to her that she cannot deny.

Mariah and John’s story is a fast-paced story. It is very sweet and charming. It was nice to see not only the main character as a strong woman but many of the supporting females were as well. Love gets a second chance to bloom, and listeners are along for the ride. This story is also full of supporting quirky female characters that will pull you in and leave you interested in finding out more about them.

The first meeting with Adeline was not a smooth one, but he was willing to give her a chance to prove that she is willing and able to fill the shoes of his current secretary. Stone finds out that a well known hotelier is ready to sell and he pounces at the chance to nab the hotel. The only problem is that this man is family-oriented and Stone doesn’t have a family of his own. He will go to any lengths to make this deal happen including making Adeline his fiancé.

I enjoyed the story line for this book very much. It was a good listen while I did chores around the house and it kept me entertained. I especially liked the idea that they were reincarnated soul mates of a couple from different social backgrounds many years before. I like to think that reincarnation is a thing and that two people who are truly meant to be together find one another in every life that they live.
