Ashali and the Blue Horseman by Jordan Elizabeth – Review by Rayne East

Thoroughly enjoyable
Ashali and The Blue Horseman is a brilliant adventure story with a touch of romance. An intriguing sci-fi based story it grips you from the start. The writing is easy to read and world-building very well done. The story is layered with several storylines and is told from both Ashali and Jase’s POV which makes for a deeper connection. With strong characters, vigilantes, aliens, superheroes and secrets this is a highly recommend.

The Aloha Series Box Set (Books 1 – 3) by Jill Brashear – Review by Rayne East

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Hawaiian Romance
This boxset was a collection of well-written romances set in the late 60s that have some overlap.

Try Easy
This is Keoni and Lou’s story. A girl’s trip to Hawaii ends up to be more than Lou bargained for. Keoni holds onto past hurts and needs to heal before he can move on. This is slow burn but the writing kept me interested. I loved the setting and the Hawaii of old.

Try Me
This is Pearl and Declan’s story. I really enjoyed their ‘fake’ relationship and the way they interacted. Their chemistry was hot. The setting is spot on again and the author interweaves the history seamlessly. The events in this book occur at the same time as book 1 and the author pulled that off brilliantly.

Try Right
This is Claudia and Henry’s story. We have come across these characters in the previous books. Claudia is Keoni’s first love and she also caused some issues in book 2. Henry is Keoni and Bones’ friend and where Penny and Lou stayed in book 1. He is a strong character and true to his word. Claudia is also strong and this makes for some very intense moments. Again the setting is brilliant and the imagery amazing.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this boxset and totally recommend.

The Letter Carrier by L.C. Lewis – Review by Rayne East

The Letter CarrierThe Letter Carrier by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brilliantly written and based on a true story this book was one for the heart. Based in World War II, it is the story of a young girl’s life when the Nazi’s invaded France. A tale of courage, hardships, family ties and the fight for survival. The author has given a voice to past with a sensitivity that is to be admired. I was drawn into the story from start to finish. Highly recommend.

Scandalously Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 5) by Anise Storm – Review by Rayne East

Scandalously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #5)Scandalously Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The fifth book in the Titans of Manhattan series and we have Alessia and Kristopher’s story. Kris is an interesting Titan as he is the one who is already settled down, but not in a happy way. This book is a contemporary romance with the Titan stamp of darkness (some trigger warnings) and steam. I have loved all the books from this author and I look forward to more.

Unexpected is spot on
With every book I fall in love with the characters a little bit more. I love the history interwoven with the mystery. Emma and Jeremy are wonderful characters and they make for a daring couple. The story is an adventure layered in distrust, family drama , suspense and danger. From train wrecks to heists this book has it all. Please read this series from book one, as there is a storyline that continues throughout. Highly recommend.

Drama, danger and deceit
A sensual romance with a sassy female and strong, assertive male. Lady Celia has secrets and a shady past. Rogue Gabriel has his own troubles. The two together have a chemistry but need to survive backlash from all directions. With history, a possessive alpha male and lots of steam this is a recommend.

Fairly Royal (Fair, #4)Fairly Royal by Grace Grahme
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A bit of everything
This is the fourth book in The Fair Series. This is a best friend’s little sister, billionaire, royal, with fake relationship and a touch of pretty woman type of romance. It is well written and the characters get their fair share of challenges. There’s drama, scandals, lies and some steam along the way. Anna is a very strong character and stays true to herself throughout the whole story. I enjoyed the setting and the way the author immersed the Scottish culture and dialogue. It was not overly done and well balanced. Recommend.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brilliant
I absolutely loved this book. Quinn and Kieran’s story told in dual POV was well written. The world building was exceptional and the characterisation around wolves is original. This book draws the reader into a fantastical world and the banter between Kieran and Quinn makes you totally invested in the storyline. Even though this is a stand-alone I am hoping to see glimpses of these characters in future V-Clan series books. Now awaiting Lorcan and Kyra’s story.

Interesting mystery thriller
This was a first from this author for me and it was an intriguing story. The writing was easy to read and pretty detailed. The layers within the storyline were interwoven well and I was kept interested through the whole book. There was a rawness to the character development that I enjoyed as it made them all the more real and relatable. With action, emotion, mystery and suspense this is a definite recommend from me.

Healing and happiness found again
Circumstances have a way of presenting themselves when needed. Chase and Katie have had their fair share of ups and downs. This was a quick read for me but did not lack in depth in characterisation and storyline. A contempt second chance romance, the story has the right balance of steam and angst with both Chase and Katie needing to face issues for the past. Very engaging read!

Romantic second chances
Love Wes and Addie’s story. On a roller coaster of emotions I finished this book with a big sigh. So much history falls between these two and wading through a decade of miscommunications and lost moments is treacherous. The author’s writing draws you in and kept me vested right through til the end. Brilliant!

Rivals (Mafia Elite Book 7) by Amy McKinley – Review by Rayne East

Rivals (Mafia Elite, #7)Rivals by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mixed emotions
What a ride! Rivals is the 7th book in the Mafia Elite series and is the last. I have loved every single book in this series. Each pair of characters has become like family and I am so torn now that it is over. Happy to see that there will be a spin off series and that I can still catch up with the Five families in these books. This book us Nico and Mia’s story. Both characters have appeared in previous books. As always, action abounds, along with drama and some stolen steamy moments. It’s everything I have come to expect from this excellent author. Recommend reading the whole series.

What a brilliant conclusion to a wonderful trilogy. I have enjoyed every book in this series. With quirky family, teenage angst, mischievous magic and lots of delicious baked goods – what more is needed? The story is well written and the characters amazing. The added bonus of the recipes is a treat. Totally recommend reading from book 1 to get the full experience.

The truth is out there
This thought-provoking book had me on the edge of my seat, quickly turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. The author has based the book on a foundation of true-science which is scary enough in itself, let alone woven through with the global conspiracies and epidemic. My heart raced and my mind was blown by the possibilities. A strong start to what looks to be a thrilling trilogy. Highly recommend.

Steam, mystery and second chances
This contemporary romance is a page turner with action, angst and a whole lot more. Each character has a depth and the storyline unfolds descriptively. The author does not hold back on the steam. This is book 2 in the Central Florida Stories but is a stand-alone.
