Shattered: A Logan McKenna Mystery book by Valerie Davisson is the first book in the Logan McKenna series. I found this book to be a really exciting read with strong characters and a great storyline. As the first book that I have read by this author I didn’t know what to expect but I loved how real everything felt. The main character was good because she was “perfect” she was great because she was imperfect but strong. I thought the story itself was really interesting and enjoyable. I was almost instantly hooked on it and knew I had to find out what was going on. This is a really strong start to a series and I am already excited to see what else is to come.

One Hot Texas Summer (The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1) by Nicole Flockton. I was definitely excited to read this story. Sometimes what you need is a great romance story to sweep you away. Kelly and Tate did just that for me, from page one I knew I’d love these characters. They pulled me completely into their story world and I didn’t want to leave. They have a chemistry that leaps off the pages, they are also very Easy to connect with. The storyline is well thought out and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’ll be adding this one to my read again list for sure. I was happy to get lost in the pages with these wonderful characters and can’t wait to read more from this author. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

Shattered: a Logan McKenna Mystery Book 1 (The Logan McKenna Series) by Valerie Davisson. Ok first of wow just wow this story had me completely captivated! Logan was a character that I won’t soon be forgetting that’s for sure. She’s strong even after all she’s been through and I loved her defense of a friend in need. This story was incredible and I found myself on the edge of my seat more than once. The author created characters with such unique personality’s and you can’t help but follow their story and get lost happily in their story world. I found myself trying to read both faster and slower, then sad when I reached the end. But I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this author. It’s a well written story and was definitely paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking. I can’t wait to see where this author takes readers next. Four stars and highly recommended.

I was compelled to read this book because of my love for hockey and romance. Some girls dream of happily ever after, I prefer hat tricks and goalie masks. This is a well-written romance. The storyline is engaging. Isabella Cassazza did a great job with the details of hockey. Characters are well developed and loveable. This is Emilia and Matt’s story. Both of them lost souls looking for someone to find them. When Emilia was sent to Boston to manage the Ice Tigers, can she break away from her controlling Grandfather? She was to have one night of hockey which turned into a magical night. Matt is a struggling hockey player looking for the Cup win. Matt has been burned by people in the past/present. Will he be able to put things aside and start a relationship with the new manager of the Ice Tigers. I highly recommend this book, especially if you are a hockey-romance lover like myself.

Book two of the divided series books, this book is mostly centered on the twins and how one of them hears another twin’s voice in his head. It is as gripping as the first book and I advise you to read the first one also. The story grips your emotions as much or more than the first. With just as much intensity, I was surprised with the ending, it brought tears to my eyes. Good job.

You ever want something you know you shouldn’t? Well that’s Kelly in this story. Shes attracted to Tate, the younger than her, handsome town player. Well that’s what the rumor is around town anyways. When they’re forced to work together for Founders Day, they realize they’re wrong in assuming and realize they cant deny the sparks that fly between them. I really enjoyed this story. A woman who is independent but still wants a man to do the small acts of chivalry. A man with so much on his shoulders and doesn’t know how to say no or act when offered help and support.
These two were great and I can’t wait to read more in this series as these brothers are all so different.

The Slaughter of Leith Hall by Lexie Conyngham is a rich, enticing historical mystery, set in 18th-Century Scotland. John Leith, the master of Leith Hall, tried to regain favour and social status following the defeat of the Jacobites by fighting for the British army in America. He has returned to Scotland but continues to be preoccupied with his experiences in America and the people with whom he fought. The story is told in third person, over the shoulder of Charlie Rob which works very well. He has worked with the Leith family for many years but has only recently begun taking on more senior duties. We see him accompany his master to Aberdeen for the first time, encountering the space for the first time through Charlie’s naïve eyes. He is experienced enough to know to be observant but discrete, although he does not always piece together what he has observed which allows the reader to get a few steps ahead at times. Thrown into situations he feels completely unprepared for, we find ourselves rooting for Charlie and admiring his tenacity. There is plenty of mystery in this story. The reader gets a slow drip of information we know will be relevant, as well as sudden shocking events. It’s a real page-turner as we race to piece together the facts and figure out what happened, and why. For me, this is a five-star read. A great way to delve into an interesting part of history, and a really gripping story! I’d recommend it to fans of historical mysteries, particularly if you’re interested in Scottish history!

When you have been burnt in the past, can you trust your heart with someone else. Kelly needs to believe that love can happen and her fairytale can end with Tate or can it?
Kelly has had her heart broken and left the big city and returned to Sweet Ridge, there she has opened a florist a job she absolutely loves. Tate has had to take on the honour of running the Peach Farm when his dad has had a stroke but with the harvest approaching and his brother volunteering the farm for the Founder’s Day parade will he have time for all he needs to do.
Kelly and Tate need to work together for the parade but what is this chemistry between them and will they give in and both give love a chance, you will have to read the story to see what happens.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved the story and the characters. Kelly although comes across as a independent, sassy woman there is a real vulnerability that I think we all have to just be loved for who she is and is it wrong to dream for the white picket fence and 2.5 children. Tate’s character was an eye opener from the womaniser reputation to his really fragile relationship with his brothers, to the devotion he showed to his father who could not fall in love with man.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and wonder who is the next brother or character to find his way through this wonderful writing.

I really enjoyed this book by Nicole Flockton. The characters were very believable and developed really well. At first I wasn’t sure what to make of Tate, but by the end of the story, he had show his true colours – I won’t reveal which way that went! I found it very interesting to see the two main characters interacting with their extended families, this helped to give them depth and made them more realistic. Highly recommended!

This book was Great! As soon as this book came out on audio i knew i had to get it. It had all of the things i liked in a book. Romance, Suspense and some hot hot times! I was engrossed into this book and i didn’t want it to end. The narrator was great. I could tell the difference between the characters and i enjoyed the sound of his voice. The main male characters are what made me this book a good one. I admit it did take a while for me to like the female character but i ended up liking her by the end. This author knows how to write an interesting suspenseful story and she kept me wanting more. I am looking forward to more audio books by this author and this narrator! I would recommend this to a friend.

I was fascinated by the premise of this fantasy and anticipated enjoying a walk in the dark. Sravenheart did not disappoint. I really enjoyed getting to know Lady Isra in these pages and getting to know our dark villain better. And see her as more than the darkness she embraces. A unique take on the witch genre and a storyline I felt had a solid voice and steady pace. I am glad to see this is part of a series and look forward to reading more!

Rebecca Steele Finding the Dream is book 2 in the series. I did not read book 1 but, that didn’t really affect my review. However, I may have liked the book more if I read book 1! I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were likable which makes it that much easier to read and enjoy a book. This was a quick sweet read about the life of Becky and some love along the way. I really liked reading about Chance and Becky. Every good book has some suspense and some twists to keep you entertained. I found myself trying to put the book down but saying, one more chapter first. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this book.

In short, this book is a traditional love story of young love which blossoms and meets the scorn of the elders which is told in a different way in a different world. Natalie is a shape shifter who can transform into a wolf. She belongs to a traditional family who want her to follow the traditions. She is engaged to another shapeshifter, Theo, who is now her ex. Everything is in order according to Natalie’s parents. Their obedient daughter is bright, helps them in the bakery and is about to be engaged. They want nothing but a happy predictable future for her. But Natalie’s fate is entwined with a Mage, Alex whom she meets in college. They both meet at a party and sparks fly between them. They are drawn towards each other much to the disdain of Natalie’s parents. Will Natalie and Alex be able to break traditions for their love? Would they be able to mend the broken relationship with her parents? This forms the crux of the story. In Eastern culture, we come across this saga a lot more. Breaking the barriers of the society demands a heavy sacrifice. I could relate to the struggle of Natalie and Alex quite easily. It is a very easy read and keeps the reader engaged till the end. This is the first book that I have read from this author and now I’m hooked. I absolutely love small town romance but this author exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book in the Prentice brothers of Sweet Ridge series and what a perfect book to start this addictive series. I could not put this book down until the end. I enjoyed reading about Kelly and Tate. Kelly who was hurt in her last relationship has moved to the small town where her mom lives and opened a flower shop. She hasn’t opened herself up for a relationship since her last one ended badly but she has found herself thinking about Tate Prentice. Tate Prentice is taking care of his family’s peach farm and his father, and now he has just been told that his brother has offered up their farm to be a satellite location for the town’s annual festival. Kelly and Tate are told they will be working together and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Can Kelly overlook their age difference, and Tate’s reputation? Can Tate let someone in to help carry the burden? This story is sweet, romantic, emotional, and has wonderful characters. I recommend this book.

One Hot Texas Summer by Nicole Flockton was a great read! It was a pretty quick, simple read, with great characters, a great storyline, and plot. Once I started reading this novel it was hard for me to put it down. I was completely enthralled from beginning to end. I loved some of the humor I found, it was very heartfelt, and very romantic! This is the first I’ve read from this author before, but I can’t wait to read more in the future! I highly recommend this novel.

This was my first book by Nicole Flockton and I fell in love with this family of friends. I had the feeling I was missing something in the first chapter but only because I wanted to know more about Charlotte and Macy (Sweet Texas Secrets Series). I can’t wait for more of the Prentice brothers.

Shattered: Logan Book 1 by Valerie Davisson is the first book in the Logan McKenna Series. Logan is a recently widowed woman who has become an amateur detective. I really enjoyed the character of Logan and look forward to how she will develop over the series. This is an interesting mystery with a good development of the story. I also enjoyed the secondary characters who added a lot to the story. I do not want to speak about the plot because there is nothing then worse than a mystery plot being wrecked. There are twists and turns and much more in the story. I will definitely look forward to reading more in this series soon.

I loved this heartwarming romantic story featuring florist Kelly Turner and Tate Prentice. Kelly is honoured to be asked to work on arranging the town’s Founders’ Day festival which will be held at the Prentice’s peach farm. This means that Kelly and Tate are working closely together but even though the mutual attraction is obvious, Kelly is less than impressed with Tate’s reputation as a ‘player’. Kelly has been burned before by a cheating boyfriend and so try’s to ignore the chemistry, which sizzles off the page, between them. Tate however is just concentrating on ensuring the survival of his family’s farm whilst his father recovers from a recent stroke. The longer the pair have to work alongside each other Tate hopes that Kelly will see that he is more than his reputation, but Kelly struggles to go with her instincts as she’s afraid of having her heart broken again. I loved the main characters, Kelly and Tate who were both relatable and likeable and enjoyed how their love/hate relationship developed. The secondary characters are also fascinating especially Tate’s brothers and I look forward to reading their stories in future books in Flockton’s series about the Prentice brothers. This was a feel good, light romantic story which is perfect for a summers day read.

Center of Gravity is the second book in Isabella Cassazza’s series Ice Tigers. The writer has said that you can read it as a standalone and I did read it without having read the first book. I love ice hockey series and I felt that I need a sweet ice hockey series and I am always open to new writers so I picked up a copy and I do not regret it all. I actually would say that read the first book of the series’ first as I kept wondering about the guys who were the main in the book one and also appeared in book two! Center of Gravity is Emilia and Matt’s story and there was something very comforting about the story. I think it was Emilia who had not found her place in her grandfather’s high fashion world, the moments when she thought back on her life as a six year old girl and her finally finding her place and purpose and her … center of gravity that would be there for always and help her weather any storms … and then there was Matt, his successful macho hockey persona and his vulnerable betrayed by woman side and his taking a chance and finding his inner strength. I actually really fell into this Ice Tigers universe in Boston with its colourful characters so I already downloaded the first of the series and I know I will be heading for the third book after I have finished with that!

Cute story. The flow was nice, the characters were likeable. Kelly did slightly get on my nerves sometimes but I loved the story regardless. Kelly owns a flower shop and Tate runs a peach farm. Both have to work together on a festival but before that Kelly assumes Tate is just a player, I don’t know why she made that assumption, maybe it was because he bought flowers once a week, but that doesn’t scream player to me. Tate falls for the 5 years older Kelly and tries to show her his true self. I understand why she would be wary of him due to her past boyfriend being a piece of poop, but sometimes you just have to go with your gut. I felt bad for Tate working the farm by himself and having to deal with his father’s condition. Their relationship is interesting to follow but the age difference being discussed constantly really drove me nuts.I really like that this was the first story starting with the youngest brother and I’m assuming there will be stories for Tyler and Trey and I can’t wait. I recommend it to any romance lover.

One Hot Texas Summer is the first novel in The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series by Nicole Flockton. It is my first novel by Nicole Flockton and I really enjoyed it. It was a great mix of fun and flirty, but had some serious tones in it as well.

Her Blackened Soul by Isra Sravenheart is the first book in the Blackened Series. This book is a dark fantasy book that is certainly a bit of a twist on your normal story. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I definitely enjoyed it. The idea for the story was a strong one, and one that certainly held my interest. While I found that the actual story fell a little flat in a few places I thought overall it was well written and the writing style made up for this. I enjoyed reading about character of Isra. It was nice to read about a character who seemed truly dark for once, instead of just playing at the idea. Again there were times when I thought her development needed a little work to it however she was overall an interesting character. This was a good introduction to this author and I will definitely be reading more of her in the future.

One Hot Texas Summer was a nice easy to read romance story. The characters were likeable, I especially liked Tate; there was just something about him that drew me to him straight away. Kelly was a nice enough character however I just didn’t feel that connection with her. I did really like her and Tate together though – they seemed to have a genuine attraction to each other. I really liked their outlooks on life, they were both really hard working and whilst Tate had a bit of a reputation I could genuinely feel that he liked Kelly and was trying to leave that behind. The story was well written and it had a good pace and flow to it. It’s the perfect summer evening read that you just dip in and out of and immediately get back into the story. This is the first book in the Prentice Brothers series so I am really looking forward to getting to know these brothers more as the series continues!

Though I was always an ardent reader, I was convinced I couldn’t string sentences together if my life depended on it. Fortunately for me, when I was looking for something creative I could do from bed—if my mystery illness progressed to that point—I decided to try my hand at it. No pressure, no expectations. I didn’t tell anyone what I was up to. I just wanted to see if I could string sentences together and tell an interesting story.
I remembered a quote by Hemingway, “Write about what you know.” With this mandate, I chose the time spent living with my husband in the French Quarter of New Orleans as the backdrop for my story. I typed out my first two paragraphs on my forty-third birthday. I finished that book on my next birthday, and started my second the same day. I now consider those my “practice books”.
As my still-nameless illness progressed, I continued running the family business and continued to write. Nine years after my symptoms began, I finally received a correct diagnosis: Lyme disease, and more specifically, late-stage Lyme, because it had been allowed to progress untreated for so long.
Though the pain was almost unendurable, I clung to my writing like a life preserver. It allowed me to crawl up inside my head, out of my body, giving me brief respites from the vast array of pains.
Though I would never wish this disease on anyone, I can honestly say I am grateful for the path my life took, for it gave me the gift of writing. I now have nine published books, all of which have special significance for me. I write general fiction, mysteries and some nonfiction.
Once Upon a Lyme: The Tale of Two Journeys, is the detailed account of the path my mystery illness led me down as I sought help from over two-dozen doctors, and the gift of writing that was the unexpected upside of being so hopeless ill.
Finding Ruth was inspired by a previously unseen photograph of my mother taken when she was nineteen. I found it as I was going through her things prior to her move into a skilled nursing hospital. That gorgeous photograph of her looking so happy and full of promise made me realize how little I knew about her life before I came along. Because Alzheimer’s has taken away all her memories, I painstakingly reconstructed her life from public records, thousands of photographs, and what my brother, sister and I could remember. The message in the tribute to my mom is Ask while you have the chance.
As of this writing, I have just completed the fourth book in the Madeline Dawkins mystery series. I’m still in love with writing and I still squeal with joy to think that I’ve written eleven books and self-published nine of them. If there is a message in this, it’s Never discount what you are capable of achieving.

The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story By Kate McGahan 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story by Kate McGahan. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself not able to put it down until I had read the final page. It is a book that tells a beautiful tale of love, different cultures, and includes characters that the author makes come alive with each chapter that I read. It is the characters, the differences in their lives, and how they interact that makes this story so powerful and hard to forget. My emotions went up and down the entire time I was reading this book. There are heartbreaking and heartwarming moments as well. The story is thought-provoking and challenges you to look at the stereotypes that are common in the world today. I enjoyed reading about what each of the characters brought to the book and found myself thinking about this story even after I had finished reading it. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that will have you hooked from the beginning. I highly recommend reading it.

Drawn to Him is a great romance story by Tammy Mannersly. I’m a total sucker for a great romance story and took a leap of faith in trying out a new author (for me) in Tammy Mannersly. I’m so glad that I took the leap as I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The two main characters Dr Matthew Garrick and Erica Townsend are both fantastic characters. Matthew is the hot new doctor in town and has set every woman’s heart aflutter. Erica is the local art teacher whose art classes grow in popularity when Matthew joins. In addition to the 2 main characters there is an excellent secondary cast, in particular Matthew’s mate and fellow doctor Nate and Erica’s best friend Seeley. Both of these play much more than bit part roles and add a great deal to the story. It was such a nice change to read a book that is set in Australia as most books I read are set in the USA, with a few set in the UK. It was a welcome change of scenery. I loved the story line of this book. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and was rooting for Erica and Matthew as they seemed perfect for each other. The author keeps you engaged throughout and you just want to keep reading to see how the story ends. I’d definitely recommend.

This is a good story. I liked certain parts and others not so much. My main issue is the flow of the story. It seemed too stiff and maybe it was the tense it was written in. I just haven’t read it in a while. I feel there was also a bit too much description and not enough dialogue. That being said the story was interesting. I liked the female being a florist and the male dealing with his ill father, running the peach farm. They are different occupations that really could been expounded on. I enjoyed Kelly and Tate story. She seemed to have a few good friends to help move the story along.
I was looking forward to reading this as I have enjoyed this author’s other books. This just didn’t feel up to par. It’s a good idea.
