The Girl and the Gargoyle by Pauline Gruber is the second book in The Girl and the Raven series. Just like the first book, which I recommend reading first, this one draws you into the story from the first page. I did not want to put it down. Continuing from the end of the last book Lucy is still living with her Uncles in Chicago and dating Marcus, a half-demon half-gargoyle. Trying to live her life as a teenager of the supernatural world is no easy feat especially when trying to keep her secrets from school friends. Jude, her demon father, has forced her to start training to harness her demon powers. Her boyfriend’s family is in town with their own agenda that will affect everyone. More adventure, love, friendship, hidden agendas and twists to keep you reading. I cannot wait to continue the story to find out what happens next for Lucy in book three.

The Sound of Silence (Leave Me Breathless World) by Dakota Willink 4 Stars!!!!
Wow and I do mean Wow! I love finding new authors and with this audio book I was not let down. I was really on the edge of my seat with this one. I really like the fact that there were three narrators. This just added depth and also a fullness to this audio book. I really found the authors style to be gripping and dark which just grabs the listener.
I really felt as though I was part of the drama as it unfolded in this book. The different voices helped to add depth and really highlighted the drama. The characters really came to life and I really enjoyed the feeling and different tones of the narrators. This made this a great listen and I will definitely read and listen to more from this author.

This is my first time reading this author and it is a fun, clean, cozy mystery!
The author did a wonderful job of making the characters relatable and feel like real people. It is a beautifully written mystery that includes a strong group of women that have formed a strong bond with each other. They work together to help solve a “who-done-it”. Having grown up in a small town, I appreciated the depiction of what small towns are like with their rumor mills and suspicions when something nefarious happens!
All in all, a quick, fun read! Will read this author again!

Journeys Through TimeSpace is the second book in the Journeys Through series by James Talisman.
After reading the first book, I couldn’t wait to get stuck into book two. This genre really pulls me out of my reading comfort zone, but it was well worth investing time into this series. This book is filled with action, adventure, and wonderful characters. After being introduced to the concept of the ‘MultiVerse’ in book one, we are still battling to save planet Earth. It’s a battle like no other set in different times and worlds. The descriptive writing style really brings this story to life, I got lost in the worlds and characters and flew through this book. If you are looking for something different in the scifi/fantasy genre, I would definitely recommend this series.

I never read a book about detectives on a case before. I’ve only ever watched TV shows and movies. But reading in a book is just as enticing, if not more. The author does a great way of describing the places and making each suspect give off a particular aura that keeps you guessing. Stripped is about Dee, a detective who is assigned a new partner, Connie, who she dislikes greatly. They are put on a homicide case that is turning up at many odd angles with many rich and successful people involved. If you like books with an air of mystery around them that keeps you guessing until the very end, this is the book for you.

This is a very nicely written book. Liz ex husband Gerry has left her in a pickle she’s now trying to rebuild her life. I admit the cover didn’t atract me to the book but once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. I have downright love every minute of reading this book. Liz and Matt I connect so much with them I rooted all the way. I will be looking forward to reading more from this author.

I completed Tainted by Marsha R West last night but had to sit on my response to the book. This book is about a women rebuilding her life after her now ex husband was arrested and sentenced for fraud detailing with the family restaurant businesses. It follows Liz Hartman on a journey of rediscovery to rebound from her ex-husbands morally corrupt ways. Unfortunately, Liz must cope with multiple attacks to overcome this man who refuses to let her go. I did like the story as a whole. The New Mexico setting is someplace I would love to be, the characters were lovely and well defined and the romantic suspense part was good. I would definitely recommend to fellow fans of romance and intrigue. I had two minor issues with this book. In some places, it felt repetitious in describing the setting or scenario. It felt like there were several brief summaries throughout the story that felt unnecessary as a reader so I would skim these sections. My second issue was the dog. I typically love animals in stories, but for some reason, this animal and the way Liz treated the dog annoyed me. After the first half, the dog became less of the story line so I was able to finish it without my eye roll of treating a dog like a baby. I know, very weird but this is the only character that I was overall annoyed about and reading so much about. Again, the story as a whole is well with the read but I did need to include my honest opinion on why I could not fully give this a 5 star rating.

Potager Plot is the fifth book in the Backyard Farming Mystery series by Vikki Walton. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Walton, but the bright and interesting cover caught my eye while I was scrolling looking for new books to read, and as I love a great cozy mystery, I happily grabbed a copy to explore. This turned out to be a fun, humorous, and fairly light-hearted read. It is a small-town murder mystery with drama, secrets, danger, suspense, investigation, some quirky characters, an interesting plot, and a touch of romance. I didn’t notice going into the story that this is the fifth book in the series, but thankfully it can easily be read as a standalone, and I didn’t feel like I was ‘missing’ anything by not having read the previous books first. Having said that, though, the story intrigued me enough to want to go back and read the rest of the series before reading any new instalments. A fun read!

Wow! Forbidden Mate was a phantastic read!! This is the second book in the Shadow Chronicles Series, a series that I highly recommend reading in order for reader enjoyment as this book follows the first one.
This paranormal read is intense, gruesome, steamy, complex and action-packed there’s never a dull moment! This author writes with so much detail that painted a clear picture playing out in my mind which kept me entertained the whole way through.
This is a book I would highly recommend to anyone looking for their next paranormal read!

Action packed and intrigue that draws you in from page 1. Alex is a kick-ass teen who learns that she and her sister, Zoey, have some new powers that help with beating nightmares. The plot just keeps you involved. You can’t put the book down because you just might miss something. Definitely a great book for the YA paranormal/fantasy fans. (Adults will like it too). Her Dark Love is the fourth book in the Dark Spell series. This story takes us back to see who Isra was before she started down the dark path, and the events that set everything in motion. The insight this book gives into the character’s early years helps give the previous books more depth. The fairy tale writing style is sometimes a challenge for me, but I like the originality. Her Dark Love is a dark fairy tale story full of deceit, betrayal, magic, and heartbreak that will keep you turning the pages.

This is an emotional second chance love story. The author does an amazing job with the characters which means the story I believable and has you gripped from the very beginning.

However a chance meeting of his cousins friend Lil turns his world upside down and sends sparks through his body that he thought he would never feel again. Can he risk his heart again? Can he resist the attraction and chemistry between himself and Lil?
Lil has a past of her own as well and when her past comes calling putting her in danger Gage realises he needs to fight his demons if he wants to protect the woman he loves and stop history repeating itself.
It is a really emotional story and anyone who has dealt with loss will be able to relate with the emotions that Gage goes through and understand his hot and cold attitude and feelings of guilt that he experiences. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Charlotte decides she is going to join this group and in the process she meets some extraordinary people that make such impressions on her that her life is forever changed: Lourdes, Levi, Dylan, Celeste, Jimmy and Darla. What an AMAZING book! All the feelings can be felt in this book. You will go on many adventures with the Dire’s Club and feel their emotions as they all deal with their feelings over dying and read what happens when some lies and fraud are exposed. Probably the BEST book of 2021 that I have read so far. It’s like explaining the grief cycle in an easier way. I definitely recommend this one.

I enjoyed this cute mystery story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed. I look forward to seeing what is next for her. This is a well written story about Anne and the dead body she finds and a small town that has secrets to hide. Will she be able to solve this mystery before she becomes the next victim? I enjoyed her character and what she brought to the story. She was fun and entertaining which made the story easy to read. All the characters are connectable and kept the story engaging. I enjoyed watching the growth of this story. It is worth the pick up. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this short romance story. This is an author I never hesitate to pick up. I have enjoyed her books from the first one I picked up. This is a well written story about what happens when opposites attract. I was pulled into the story from the beginning by the characters. They made the story easy, fun and entertaining to read. They are connectable and truly made the story for me. This is a story about Brody who is a movie actor and Willabelle who has an ex that is determined to destroy things for her. What neither one of these two expected was to meet and fall for each other until her ex decides otherwise. What happens with these two I highly recommend reading this book to find out. Their growth and chemistry throughout the story is great. They made great characters that kept the story engaging. You won’t regret picking this one up today.

I have fallen in love with this whole set of Jake’s books. I have a few grandchildren that will have this set sitting in their rooms.
The message conveyed in this book is so completely relevant especially in the world today and the conversation guide at the end was spot on for helping the adults lead the discussion after reading it with the kids. I love this and really believe these should be part of a school’s reading curriculum or at the very least part of reading time at home.
The illustrations were amazing and I believe will make storytime that much more fun and meaningful. The importance of friendship was also very strong in this story and was written in a way that young children will completely understand.
I loved this and I love that this author has gone that extra mile for our kids!

I thought this was such an interesting, cute, intriguing, and engaging story. I always like to see if the first line really draws me into a book. That really sets the tone for me. With this story I was not disappointed. From the first line of the book, I was hooked! It was just so good! The rest of the story did not disappoint either, it kept its tone from the very beginning for sure! Natalina Reis is an author to look for in the future. I also loved that the author added a bit of a personal touch at the beginning with a forward, a guide to dating vocabulary and the Mandarin words and phrases used. That was a really nice touch.

Tainted by Marsha R. West is an action-packed romantic suspense story. The characters are well developed, and I easily connected to them. There is non-stop action as trouble follows them in their wake. It is easy to picture the setting as Marsha vividly tells her tale. It is also a second chance story where old friends catch up again after 25 years. Liz needs to get away with her daughter from the life she had. They find themselves in a beautiful place, but their serenity is short lived. However, where there is danger there is one man who has sworn to serve and protect. I look forward to what comes next.

Written in the Stars is a heart-warming and gripping story about adoption and finding birth parents and is the second book in the Mothers and Daughters Collection by Angela Christina Archer. It is a story that made my heart ache as I easily got lost in the story. Angela’s writing drew me in and conjured up all sorts of emotions as I followed along with this story. A young unwed woman in the 1950’s is left alone and has the choice on whether or not to keep her unborn baby taken away from her. It also shows what one goes through to find someone that may help them know who they are and where they came from. I was completely engrossed in the story and invested in the characters.

Natalina Reis writes in a way she has you feeling for her characters. Her novel Dating the Intern appealed to me in ways I enjoyed, but also brought up memories from a painful past. Don’t let that deter you though, just keep in mind it could be a trigger warning that’s all. Li Qiang is such a sweet and selfless character who would do anything for his boss, Ivory Tower, since he’s been crushing on her for a long time. A character I grew to love and rooted for as I got deeper into the novel. Ivory on the other hand drove me crazy, but I feel like that was more on a personal level vs how the character was written. I’m Ivory through and through. I may not be a business owner but that’s the kind of abuse I suffered in my past from my father, which makes it hard to accept love today. Though a novel about a fictional romance, it made me take a deeper look at myself and how I’ve overcome the same obstacles in my life. I know this review sounds really sad & depressing but it’s not meant to be that way. It’s meant to just describe how Natalina’s novel impacted me emotionally. It’s not very often I get that emotionally invested in a work of fiction, but in the end I LOVED IT!!! If a writer can have you connect to their story in such a way you evaluate how you handled things, doesn’t that make them a GREAT writer. Was the story a trigger for me, slightly but I’m glad I read it then reflected upon my life. She may still have some feelings for him, but she is seeing Winston Lewis and doesn’t want to throw away what they have. Grayson gives up the name of a man that runs a group known as The Circle. A meeting is set up for them to meet the man behind the so called cult, Jonathan Wild, but he is busy when they arrive. Who is this mysterious man? Detective Quarter is intrigued by the man from what she has seen on the internet, but what doesn’t realize is that he has taken a special interest in her. He wants her to become part of his private community no matter what it takes. Out of the many people that are potential suspects will she be able to find the culprit? Will she be able to keep herself from being sucked in by Jonathan Wild?
This was an interesting and quick read. I have seen somewhere that this us a spin-off of another series and I am now curious to check it out so I can find out more about some of these characters. The author did a good job drawing me in and keeping my attention.
