Alchemy of GlassAlchemy of Glass by Barbara Barnett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Alchemy of Glass by Barbara Barnett. This is the 2nd book in this series and I highly recommend reading the first book beforehand to better understand the story and characters. This is a historical, sci-fi mystery and its very full of information. This is a book you need to pay attention when you are reading so you don’t miss anything. Its the story of Gaelen who discovers a piece of glass in an old friends journal and it takes him on a journey thru different spaces and time periods. Gaelen goes thru all kinds of diseases with weird and different cures that throw Gaelen into all kinds of fits. He is seeing what a bleak future this world is going to endure. When he finds out that Dr. Anne Shaw is the only one that can help him find the cure he is not happy because in the prior book he did not treat her well at all. Will he be able to save the future world from itself? Read this fast paced historical mystery to find out!

This is book 5 in the Hidden Valley Elite Series. I am so in love with this whole series. This is the first part of Phoenix and Aspen’s story. Now in college things are a little different for Phoenix as he tries to navigate classes and football. Then once Aspen discovers that she is pregnant they are both left struggling to figure out how this is all going to work. I could not put this book down and I am on pins and needles waiting for the second part of their story.

I normally don’t read a lot of murder-mystery, but this author did such a fantastic job! I was sucked in right from the get go! The detail in this book had me on the edge of my seat! I was very impressed1 with the research that the author did on the book as well, and I’m looking forward to the second book! The way all of the characters, main or side characters included, were written so well and I have nothing but extreme respect for the author that wrote it. There’s only a select few of investigation type books that I’ve read that I really enjoyed this much, and this was definitely one of them!

The Silent Woodsman (The Olympic Peninsula series Book 1)The Silent Woodsman by Cat Treadgold
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We have 2 people that need healing but in different ways and often it’s that “common ground” that brings people together

Ali and her twin brother were orphaned but they were fortunate enough to be taken in by a caring foster family once they were old enough they head on to live their own lives. Ali gets a message that her brother was killed in a bombing but she’s having a hard time believing it because she’s hearing him and feeling him and she heads to Hoh rain forest in hopes of either finding him or a clue as to where to find him , but she meets up with a rainstorm and end up on the doorstep of a cabin ..,,

Said cabin belongs to Joe Bob Blade , famous singer that needs time to heal , he’s not to utter a word and when you’re on your own it’s easy but when you get an unexpected house guest that piques your interest things become a little harder and definitely a lot more interesting 😉

Being stuck together on a cabin with awful weather outside ms not much else to do could lead to steamy moments without real steam I know that sounds confusing but you’ll get it when you read this and once back in reality both have a hard time forgetting each other and will they find they way to each other !?

A different kind of read … a good different ❣️📚😉

Master Campania: Dark Vampire Romance (Masters of the Consulate Book 7)Master Campania: Dark Vampire Romance by Sylvia Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the seventh book in the Masters of the Consulate Series. They are all just so good. The world that has been built in these books is so deep. I love that these characters are so complex and different. Campania does not like witches so of course his mission he is on involves dealing with one. I love the story between Campania and Willow. Their attraction is off the charts. As with the rest of the series it is hard to put this book down.

This is the third book in the Off the Record series, although this is the first of the series I have read. I feel like I need to go back and read the first two books to understand everything better. This book was an emotional rollercoaster. It was dark and angsty. I love that the mental health aspect was dealt with. The characters were well written so that you can feel the love and loss they experience.

Cruel Start (Hidden Valley Elite) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This book is a three book series called Hidden Valley Elite Series!!  You must read them in order!!!! I absolutely loved this series, I am still waiting for the third book but I have read the first two. Phoenix meets an amazing artist name Aspen and have a wild night together. They didn’t think that they would run into each other after that night. Little did they know that fate had other plans for them when the plus sign shows up on the stick and just like that their worlds are now connected.

Cruel Hate (Hidden Valley Elite Book 5) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

It’s a continuation from Cruel Start, I promise you that it is worth it. This series is mind blowing and keeps you on the edge of your seat as you are reading it. I laughed, I cried and most of all I connected with Aspen and Phoenix. You get a little more information on Aspen’s family in this one. While trying to continue school and getting ready to a have a baby seems daunting enough, add a mix of his family drama and her family drama and you have a good visual of what is yet to come. I have not read the last book yet, however I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

Leaving No Traces (Commissario Scala #5)Leaving No Traces by P. J. Mann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was not my first and it won’t be my last I really enjoy the writing of PJ Mann😉

I’ve never been to Italy but the writing style made me feel like I was there . I could smell the smells , feel the feels and form pictures in my minds eye ❣️📚

Detective Scala is at it again . This time , a young woman had gone missing , her car has been found and there are blood splatters on the seat ….

Simona Riboldi was on her way to her lover when she stopped for cigarettes and then she messaged him that she’s had a change of heart and then disappears !? Naturally her husband is a suspect as is the lover but there’s something more sinister going on especially when it comes to light there was another lover! Not only that but there’s another murders and the 2 seem to be linked and just for added drama let’s add a little mafia as well !
I mean girl you have your hands full! Where she found the time , stamina and energy is mind boggling 🤭🤫

I like Detective Scala and his love affair with coffee , the man had taste 😉☕️❣️and he’s going to need that caffeine to find a killer , protect a witness and keep himself out of harms way …

An enjoyable read especially with a coffee on hand 😉

This is the second book in The Hawke Family Second Generation. I loved the first book in this series. I was so excited for this book though because we get to learn more about the elusive Jude. This story had me hooked from the start. This is not just a romance, it is the story of family, friendship, and love. It is overcoming your past and the obstacles thrown in your way. The characters in this story seem to take on a life of their own.

This is the third book in the Astoria Royals Series. I have not read the first 2 books so this book can totally be read as a stand alone. The emotion and the storytelling in this book were outstanding. I was drawn into this book and the characters’ stories. The way the past and the present collide for Priscilla and Riordan is perfect and heart wrenching. I believe I will need to go back and read the first 2 books just to stay in this world a little longer.

This book combines romance and suspense. It follows the story of a young woman who gets caught up in a dangerous world of Russian mafia and royal intrigue. The book explores themes of love, loyalty, and the complexities of navigating dangerous relationships. Lev and Daphne are essentially enemies to lovers – and honestly, those are the best stories! These two are total opposites. You know what they say about opposites attract!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is book 5 of the series. This is the first part of Phoenix and Aspen’s duet but Cruel Start should be read before this one. I have loved every minute of this series and this book is no different.

Phoenix and Aspen can’t seem to communicate without fighting. Which is pretty inconvenient when they are experiencing something they need to communicate about. I’m not going to say much about what happens in this book because I don’t want to give anything away but seriously, read it!

It is so well written. The characters are great, even though their behavior sucks sometimes. I was hooked from the beginning and can’t get enough of this series. There is so much angst and feeling you get sucked into the world! I highly recommend!

A personal first for me by Scott Warren, this book is a TERRIFIC read!! It immediately sucked me in… and then I turned the page and it said chapter 1. I kid you not, I was instantly hooked and was ready to know what was going to happen by the end of the prologue. The entire time I read this I got Lord of the Rings meets Deadpool type vibes. The main character, Marluck, reminds me of Deadpool in his personality. This is an awesome adventure and the character development throughout is fantastic. I will be looking for more Scott Warren books in the very near future!

Snap, crackle, pop hot enough to start a fire! This book was so good from the very start! The characters were real and relatable, as well as many of the issues they faced, and I love to find that in a book!

What little girl didn’t grow up loving fairytales? This is definitely a mature version of one of those. I enjoyed this book, it had everything I enjoy most from a book. An excellent story, relateable characters, steamy scenes, and all the drama! I cannot wait to read more in this series. Bridget has been burned by past relationships, after being dealt the ultimate burn when she discovered her fiancé was cheating on her she goes on the trip that should have been her honeymoon with her best friend. Bridget has always played it safe in life but this time she throws caution to the wind and finds a connection and steamy sex with a complete stranger who just happens to be royal unbeknownst to her. Fynix is feeling the pressure of his role as a monarch and the pressure his parents have placed on him, he never expected the connection he finds with Bridget to change his life in the way it does.

Isla is a phenomenal writer and in this series she has created the perfect characters who keep you coming back for me. They hook you in and don’t let you go until the next page and their stories continue to the next book so you are anxiously waiting for the next book to find out what happens next. I definitely do not recommend missing a single book, not only because they are so phenomenal, but also because the each book provides context for the next. Which in my opinion just makes this series so special. This book is Phoenix’s and Aspen’s story. Which is so very complicated. But yet it is so good in all the right ways. Phoenix and Aspen find themselves in an incredibly complex situation yet watching them handle it kept me turning the pages so very fast. This book definitely kept me wanting more so I will be anxiously awaiting the next one! I definitely recommend picking up this series!

Atonement
By: Winter Austin

This is not my first Winter Austin book and it definitely won’t be my last. When I open a Winter Austin book, I know that I am going to get fantastic suspense that will keep me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I also know that I am going to read amazing characters and that the detectives and police in it are going to add an extra layer of entertainment. Atonement does not disappoint at all with this. Austen once again has crafted fantastic characters and a plotline that does not disappoint. This story also features PTSD and Winter Austin does a fantastic job of providing background information about PTSD. Nic is such a well written multifaceted character. I found that the amount of depth written to her was amazing and made her extra interesting. I absolutely loved this book and I definitely recommend it!

As Though You Were Mine
By: J. Marie Rundquist

This was such a fantastic and emotional story. I found myself crying (actually sobbing) at several parts of this. Yet, I never wanted to stop reading this story. I wanted to see how it ended. I wanted to follow the emotional arc of the main character Julie, even if I was so emotionally invested in it. Julie is a fantastic main character and she is one that I found myself relating to and rooting for. The emotional layers in this between gaining custody of her niece and nephew, who are actually her flesh and blood, and processing the loss of her brother and sister in law it just all seems like it is too much. Then Grant enters the picture. The emotional complexity of him entering just really kept me reading at such an intense pace. I wanted to know what was going to happen in Julie’s life, if she was going to keep her job, if Grant was there for good reasons, if she was going to learn to love raising the kids, if everyone was going to get a happy ending. I have so much more I want to say, but won’t for fear of spoilers. I will say that this book is a must read and that these characters are so very well written. I definitely recommend reading this book! But make sure to have tissues handy!

Teddy and Summer are each others kryptonite and watching them find each other again was magical 🥰make no mistake there were some tense moments when Summer’s past comes to haunt her and help comes from an unexpected source but also there were tears when Teddy shared his story ,this was a quick read that ticked many of my must have boxes and again these people just crawled into my heart ❤️

Tequila Midnight (Southwest Suspense Novels Book 1) by Kathryn Dodson – Review by Heidi Sturgess

Jessica is playing with fire and she needs to be wary that she doesn’t get burnt . She’s gone from real estate to delivering “paperwork “ in dark dangerous places and she’s attracted the attention of some questionable characters ….also she has a taste for Patron , girl that stuff will put hair on your chest 🫣🤪

Jessica gets approached by Velasco to find his daughter , Doraliz and much like him I can’t help but wonder if she was taken or Jeff on her own accord , I mean hello she’s more of a commodity that anything else and if I were her I’d run and when Jessica starts asking questions people don’t like it and she gets friendly warnings to leave things well alone, but she’s like a dog with a bone ….

There’s more going on in Jessica’s life other than trying to find Doraliz , there’s the drama with her folks , Angus and his feelings , her sassy friends and her four legged non judgmental housemate 🐾😍As for Doraliz she’s safe and sound but I get where her heart is at .

I enjoyed this read and Jessica may have baggage but she’s bold and brave 😉

Oh my word these covers are something else ! What’s in between them will break your heart and blow your mind 🤯

2 things …. 1. Pay close attention to the trigger warnings 2. Even though this is the first book in the trilogy I’d recommend you read Craving Control first as it gives you a fuller more informed experience BUT that’s my person opinion ❣️📚

Like is a survivor, she’s a warrior and she’s stronger than she thinks and when her past comes to haunt her she has an army behind her and I’ll be honest I actually felt my heart rate go up #truestory#

Lilly and Zeke ( Venom) are engaged and he’s in the MC run by her dad Brutus . Now I don’t want to waste time talking about this waste of space , he’s an oxygen thief and a waste of organs 🤮he’s an awful man and I’d love to cut him a few times and leave him in the desert so he can be eaten alive 🫣😱( I think you get that he’s not a nice man )

By the end of this read I was exhausted mentally and emotionally and I loved it ! I know I sound like I need help 🤣🫣 but this really had everything it was dark , sad , cruel , raw emotions , real emotions , fear , angst , betrayal, you name it I felt it and what does the future hold for this club and it’s members ?!

I was thrilled to get to finally read the third book in this series! I swear they just keep getting better and better. Tamaska is really coming into her own and seeing her character continue to grow is so amazing to see. She is trying so hard to fit in with the pack, while still trying to figure things out in her relationship with Kodiak. There was definitely a lot going on in this book and it has been my favorite so far in the series. I am so excited to see what happens in book 4. Mesmerised (Hybrid Lovers Book 2) by Toya Richardson – Review by Moriah Venable

Mesmerised (Hybrid Lovers #2)Mesmerised by Toya Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Antoine has been alive for centuries by being a hybrid, a being that is both angel/vampire with the duty to protect humans from demons and other supernatural threats.

Not only does he have a demon that continuously causes havoc named Gustav who would turn the innocent humans into demons but he also has to find his mate.

“If I didn’t connect with my mate soon, I’d die. And if I died, she’d follow soon after.”

Have I seen this plot before? Yes. Was I still hooked? Of course. The title alone caught my interest and an angel/vampire hybrid character is not something I have read lately. I thought I knew where this story was going. I was so wrong! The plot twist is the reason why I will be recommending the novel to my friends.

I love the cover and I love that he has black wings.

I see that this is book two. I hope there is a book three that I can look forward to reading.

Antoine seems to think he will die before he finds his mate since

This is a series, however you could read it alone and be able to follow the story. I do feel like if you start from book one that you would understand the characters more. The world building and characters was well thought out.

The Magic Carousel (The Brass Ring Series Book 1) by K.L. Small – Review by Heidi Sturgess

The Magic Carousel (The Brass Ring #1)The Magic Carousel by K.L. Small
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just want a Grandpa with a magical brass ring and I want to go on a carousel 😍

I’m blessed to be a librarian at a local school and my visitors are aged between 6-14 years of age so what kids have to deal with isn’t unknown to me ( I’m also a mum of 3) and I’ve a few that come to visit my place of safety just to escape , read, colour or build puzzle and with all these different little personalities this read became so real to me on many levels as I could see some of my little friends in this stunning read ❣️📚

I just love Russell’s grandpa and I’ve created a picture in my mind of what he looks like and obviously the kids know I’m reading and they want constant updates and what fun it’s like we’re living the story together in between classes and break times ❣️

My heart broke when grandpa took ill but at the same time it was Russell’s time to be bold and brave and this is where he grows and my mommy heart swells with pride but my childlike side is so envious !

I actually want to get a little toy carousel to put in the library and when kids ask I can share this story as inspiration for them ! I just adored this read !

Cruel King by K.M. Scott – Review by Heidi Sturgess

Cruel KingCruel King by K.M. Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m not really sure how to word this one 😬I’m torn really because I want to share Ava and Matthias but at the same time I don’t want to because you need to read their story for yourself so they can share it with you , does that make sense !? ❣️📚

My heart was in the authors hands and she squeezes hard and as it feels like my hearts is going to stop she releases her boa constrictor grip , I catch my breath and then she squeezes again and so we do this “ dance” till the very beautiful end …,,,,please be patient with Matthias though , there’s so much to this man 🤗

Ava and her dad lived on the property where her dad was the estate manager but also more than that to the patriarch of the King family and she grew up with these boys ( Theo, Marius , Matthias , Kellan and Ronan ) and she was especially close to Theo , it’s like they were joined at the hip 🤣who used to joke that she was going to be his wife one day and everyone thought their story would unfold that way ….,,

Matthias was always harsh towards Ava and at times cruel and man I just want to climb into this book and really just give a slap around the head ! During a snow storm they’re “ forced” to spend time together and things take a very different and steamy turn and I feel like butterflies are dancing in my heart but not for long because Ava is sent to her aunt and she really doesn’t have much choice and Matthias never gets the message she sent …..this is the one time I want to “ shoot the messenger “ 🥲

Tragedy strikes and the boys come home and Matthias is harder , crueler and colder than before , slowly but surely pieces of the puzzle is put together and healing can take place and those butterflies return and I’m about to celebrate when another crushing blow hits and this time I really felt like there was no turning back but there’s thus thing about love , it endures and these push back against all odds and I don’t think there’s enough Kleenex to get me through this beautifully sad story but I’m grateful I held on by a thread because ever cloud has a silver lining …..

As much as I loved Matthias , Ava and their little family another person held a special place in my heart , dearest Eleanor you have a heart of gold and you’re an angel without wings 😍
