Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing quick read. I fell in love with the characters from the start. They both had some serious growth throughout the short book. I was able to read this book in a couple hours and I honestly can’t wait to read the rest of the series. This book is a really good book t o start the series with because I feel like it is laying the groundwork for the rest of the series. You finally are able to put everything together at the end of the book. It is all wrapped up with a pretty bow that allows you to continue on. I loved the level of spice this book has. It actually really helped carry the story line. I don’t mean that in a bad way, the spice is part of the entire story and obviously the series based upon the name. So, I felt like it was just the right amount. If you are looking for a sweet little get away from the real world, I highly recommend this book. Knowing that it is a series, I am excited to see what happens next and who the book is going to focus on. It is hard to tell how amazing this book is without giving away things. I just can’t stress enough how good this quick little read was.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Series) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia #1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a spicy romance between a single mom and an undercover billionaire. Cy Sweet’s family owns a theme park and the family is concerned that their employees are plotting a strike against them. Cy is the free spirit of the family who is being forced to go undercover to find the person responsible for plotting a possible strike. What Cy doesn’t realize is that he would start to like the undercover job (in the bakery), but he would really like his co-workers. One co-worker who has his attention is “The Queen” of the theme park, Jolie Cox. Jolie is a single mother of 2 children and one of them has Cystic Fibrosis. Many of the employees, including Jolie, are coming together to out the company about their lack of pay, benefits, etc. However, she also starts to like Cy or “Marcus” (his undercover name) to the point that they start a little escapade in her dressing room. This romance turns into Cy really wanting to date her and get to know her, even when he finds out about her age, her kids, etc. While Cy is making progress in finding the leader, by getting close to everyone, he also starts to realize that his parents don’t really treat their employees well enough, and that matters to him because he starts to care for these people. Will this change when they all find out who he is? Will he have to choose between family and friends when it comes down to it?
I enjoyed this book. I thought the progression of events were a little unrealistic in how fast the sexual aspect took place and without much questioning. However, all the characters we likeable. I think when it came to Jolie, I gravitated toward her because I also have a child with Cystic Fibrosis. I also like how they fought for what they believed in, but then she also handled all of the craziness well and the storyline wasn’t over-dramatized. I will probably go on to read the others in the series.

This is NOT the typical story that I reach for, but, what can I say? I was feeling extra spicy one day…This first book in the Spicetopia series is quick, fun, steamy, and just hit the spot. Cy and Jolie’s story is enticing and well-written, so I had absolutely no problem falling right into it. This is not just your normal steamy romance, but an original take that makes it interesting and is actually relatable. Even if romance isn’t what you normally pick up, I highly suggest giving this book a shot. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one!

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sugar & Spice was different. It was good but different from most romance novels I’ve read. The author gives you a fresh take on a story we’ve read before, well at least the romance part.
Forced to go undercover, Cy/Marcus starts his new job in the bakery of his family’s amusement park Sweetopia. There’s rumblings of employees gathering together to strike and boycott the park and his family wants to know who so they can be silenced. All Cy wants to do is travel and wants no parts of the family business. Unfortunately for him what he didn’t expect was 1 Jolie. And 2 what this undercover boss task does for him in the long run.
Jolie is a single mom with a terminally ill son who feels the Sweet family treats their employees unfairly and the benefits suck. She intends to do something about it. However when she meets Marcus he’s the curveball she didn’t expect. She had no intentions of having a man in her life. Her focus was her sons and getting fair compensation for her and her coworkers.
Will Jolie find out who Marcus really is?
Will the park employees follow through with their plans?
Does Cy stay loyal to his parents?
Lots of questions with many interesting answers and conclusions. It’s a promising start to a potential new series.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cy is sent undercover to find out who is behind the plan to hold a press conference regarding the management of Sweetopia. Jolie is a single mom trying to care for her two sons, one that has medical issues. She also wants the company to be held accountable for providing livable wages for their employees. The chemistry is immediate, and Cy is struggling with doing what his family want and doing what he wants with Jolie. However, if they both find out the real identity of the other, would they really be able to make it work?

I enjoyed this story. It was a pretty quick read for me. It definitely had some spice, but I also enjoyed the cute love story and how the author brought Sweetopia to life! I enjoyed the whole story and it left me wanting to know more.

Wow, some definite spice for this Sugar & Spice book, but it was an entertaining read. An interesting story line and I enjoyed the undercover boss plot. Jolie provided an interesting character element and I loved that she was a single mom that was struggling…not just your “life is perfect” type of character. I liked the way that Cy (aka “Marcus”) struggled with his family, his undercover role and his feelings for Jolie. This was a fast read and certainly a spicy, contemporary romance story.

This book was fantastic! I really loved it. It sets place in a theme park, which I thought was pretty cool. Jolie works two jobs just to barely pay her bills. This young man comes in and flips her world upside down. Cy is working at his parents theme park. He then meets Jolie. He can’t get her off of his mind. Cannot wait for book two.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Series) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Stephanie Runyon

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia #1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Phoebe Alexander created an amazing, suspenseful romance in this story. Cyrus Sweet had spent as much of his time pursuing his dreams while he was in college. He wanted to become an artist and had secured a place in a program where he would learn from his idol, Krstiph Kostopolous, in Greece. However, his brothers and parents had other plans. Corden and Ophelia Sweet own Sweetopia, a family-oriented theme park. They had learned that a possible strike was stirring in the company. Cyrus was told he had to find the ringleaders to keep his inheritance. Corden also offered $25,000 as an incentive. Reluctantly, Cyrus agreed, as long as he could go to Greece.

Cyrus is the persona of Marcus Young, a British graduate student in art history. As a seasonal temporary employee, he was assigned to Bard’s Bakery. He had heard his brothers discussing the new Red Velvet Queen as being hot. When he took a look at the woman, he was automatically intrigued. He introduced himself to her as Marcus, and the attraction was obviously shared.

Jolie works as the Red Velvet Queen by day and a paid dominatrix in the evenings. She has to support her mother and two sons. River was a special needs child with cystic fibrosis who was often in the hospital. While Sweetopia had benefits, their health insurance was shabby, and they paid her $5.00 an hour without overtime. She didn’t want a relationship, but after meeting Marucs, she thought it would be okay to have a little fun during the summer.

Frequent trysts in Jolie’s dressing room have Cyrus feeling guilty about deceiving her about his identity. When he learns of a meeting, he struggles to decide what to do. Should he tell his parents about the impending press conference calling for a strike and boycott of Sweet Enterprises? If he doesn’t do what they demand, he is going to lose his inheritance and trip to Greece. Likewise, he had grown attached to several employees and the beguiling Jolie.

Phoebe brings equal parts sweetness and spice to this novel. The plot is unpredictable, and the points of view of Cyrus and Jolie provide their personal views in vivid detail. Alternating between Cyrus and Jolie was done smoothly, making the transitions effortless. I couldn’t put this book down as I followed the two protagonists, who kept secrets from one another. Their romance blossoms at work while they face impossible odds that could potentially pull them apart. The suspense builds to a climactic scene that I prayed would turn out positively. Sugar & Spice is the first book in the Spicetopia series. I recommend this five-star book to romance readers who like connecting with the characters in a steamy, forbidden romance novel.

Spicetopia Book 1 follows Cy Sweet, spoiled rich boy who looks to inherit the family theme park Spicetopia with his two brothers. Sent undercover with the looming threat of being disinherited if he does not pull his weight and find who the ring leader is for an upcoming planned and sneaky press conference against the company and their treatment of employees.

This book was written well. The story is easy to follow. It has a lot of detail into the characters. I loved reading it and look forward to the next book in the series.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was drawn into this storyline right from the start and loved every minute of the book through to the end. Phoebe Alexander’s Sugar & Spice has so many unexpected events that you will not want to put the book down! I love how our main character, Jolie, role plays in a sweet factory as The Red Velvet Queen, what a great character that draws in such a huge audience to come and see her. Jolie is the perfect person to fulfill this role, but unfortunately, the pay and the benefits are just not enough for anyone to be able to support their family. This is especially true for Jolie, who is a single mom supporting her two sons, one of whom has a lot of medical problems, as well as her mom who lives with them to help out. Cy is one of the heirs to the Sweetopia business and is sent to go undercover to figure out who is heading up a group of disgruntled employees who are going to the press to disclose the unfair treatment that they feel they are receiving from the business. The second Cy sees Jolie, he falls head over heels in love with her and is torn between doing what his family expects of him or doing what he feels is right for the woman of his dreams. What a dilemma our characters find themselves in, will Cy and Jolie be able to work out their situation and make their relationship work, or will Cy’s true identity be too much for Jolie to accept? From the dynamic characters to the realistic descriptions that beautifully draw a picture of Sweetopia theme park, you will feel like you are right there along with the characters experiencing the fun, and magic of such a wonderous place, you can practically smell the divine scents of the baked goods. What a magnificent picture that the author paints for her readers as she draws you into her magical paradise of Sweetopia.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a hot and steamy romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Cy has been sent into Sweetopia, an amusement park owned by his family, as an undercover boss. He needs to identify which of the employees have been organising strikes. However , he didn’t expect to be falling in love with the prime suspect, Jolie who portrays ‘The Red Velvet Queen’. Jolie is a single Mum of two young sons, one of whom has cystic fibrosis who is having to work two jobs. When a handsome coworker starts visiting her in her dressing room it provides her with a much needed distraction. Jolie is also determined to hold her bosses accountable and is pleased with the steps taken so far.
Whilst Cy is worried about loosing Jolie if she finds out that he’s the heir to the Sweetopia fortune, she’s concerned that if he finds out who she is under the wig and costume that he will leave. Eventually their true identities will be revealed and they will have to decide what happens next with their relationship. The chemistry between Cy and Jolie sizzles off the page and leads to some rather steamy scenes. The characters and the setting come to life through the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in the storyline. An enjoyable and engaging read with plenty of steamy romance!

This book was steamy! Fantastic characters with great growth. Jolie’s character is extremely relatable and very well written. She has a lot of the same insecurities that many women have. Despite it, she’s able to over come her fears. Cy’s character arc is fantastic and will have you falling in love with him just like the female lead. I’ve read plenty of undercover boss stories, but nothing like this one. The setting itself is unique and a ton of fun!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the series ‘Spicetopia’, technically, they can be read in any order as they are individual storylines with interconnecting parts. But I recommend starting with this book and reading in order.

Jolie and Cy have an immediate connection. To bad each other them are hiding major parts of themselves. Cy, the millionaire and son of parents who own the family theme park ‘Sweetopia’ and Jolie, the single mom that is half family theme park Queen and other half dominatrix.

Cy has his inheritance on the line and agrees to go ‘undercover’ in the theme park to figure out who the rebel employees are and their plans to go public with horrible information about the Sweet Family, specifically Cy mother and father. Cy is originally under the impression the rebels are lying and just stirring up trouble. He doesn’t expect to end up on their side nor to fall in love with the beautiful Queen, Jolie.

Jolie, has been under extreme pressure taking care of his chronically ill son as well as juggling two equally demanding jobs. The Sweets, have horrible health insurance and want a robot more than an employee. She wants to put their ignorance on the live news for everyone to see, but she didn’t imagine she’d ever find a wonderful man that makes her feel alive.

They both have secrets and when those secrets are exposed, they are both left wondering what to do next. Will Jolie be able to take care of her family while also enjoying her own life? Will she forgive a man who utterly lied about everything, even his name? Will Cy, chose his blood family or the woman he has fell in love with? How important is money to him?

I absolutely loved this adventure with these two and would recommend this book & series to anyone who wants a spicey romance without the storyline being too heavy.

Jolie is a single mom with 2 unusual jobs, 2 children, and a lot on her mind. Her aspiration to become an actress is not looking good after the horrible conditions and non benefits of her main job as a character of a theme park, where she spends endless overtime and no pay for it whatsoever. But she wants to make a difference, and will take matters into her hands in order to do so.

Cy is the youngest of a silver spoon trio, his dad made him a deal to help within the theme park they own and discover the underlines that are developing in order to stop them, once complete he will have 25K and 2 weeks in Greece. Oh but such is destiny, he will find out more than the desire under working lines.

Easy to read and full of spice this romance is a one sitting piece.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander is the first book in the Spicetopia series and to say that I really enjoyed this book is an understatement! Phoebe has written a story about a hardworking mother who is just trying to make ends meet for her sons, and a hot, rich boy who thinks he’s being slick by going in as an undercover boss.
Spicetopia is a place for adults to vacation, relax and have fun in an “adult” setting. It is original, fun, sexy and so much more! After experiencing some time at Spicetopia you will find yourself needing more than an ice-cold drink to cool down!
Cy (rich, hot boy) has orders from his parents to try to discover and infiltrate the enemy, his parents are convinced that the theme park they own is being compromised but have no idea where to start. This is where Cy comes into the story, but as time goes on, Cy realizes just who the true enemy is. However, Cy comes across an unusual situation when he meets the queen of Spicetopia, Jolie, and now he can’t get her out of his mind.
Jolie is a hard-working woman who works two jobs to make sure her sons are taken care of, and even with the two jobs it is just enough to scrape by. Jolie finds herself in a unique situation when a certain young man comes to work. Now she can’t get him out of her head, and it is really messing with her since she has a family to worry about. Jolie really worries about what Cy will think of her when he finds out her secrets.
This is the type of story you can find yourself lost in, this story has a little bit of everything in it, and it makes for a really great read! You will find yourself having a hard time putting down this book once you pick it up to read! Great job Phoebe on writing a great story, I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!

Sweetopia, a family theme park that is wonderful and family-friendly for everyone except those who are employees there. Long work hours, not great insurance benefits, are making some of the employees unhappy and there are rumors of an impending strike. The owners have sent their son, Cy, undercover.
Jolie, a single mom, working long hours at the theme park and a second job just to make ends meet, really has no time to spend with her 2 boys.

The chemistry between the 2 main characters jumps off the pages. They are always looking for each other and cannot keep their hands to themselves when they are alone, but will their respective secrets drive then apart?

Wonderful start to an amazing series. New discreet covers and this first book has additional material. I adore the Spicetopia series and this authors other works as well.

Sugar & Spice is Book 1 in the Spicetopia series and I loved this story. I am definitely no stranger to this author’s books, loving the unique story-line with the start of this series I am already anticipating to continue and I cannot wait to see what is store in Spicetopia. This story gave me secrets, drama, romance with definite sugar and spice and everything oh so nice!

When the owners of the family theme park of Sweetopia approach their youngest son about going “undercover” as there is rumors swirling around about an employee uprising and not in a good way. Cy Sweet has his eye on the initial prize of a bribe from his father so he can go to Greece on a planned trip. What Cy Sweet did not anticipate was a liking to The Red Velvet Queen..aka Jolie Cox.

Being The Red Velvet Queen for Jolie Cox has its struggles. Being a single mom, juggling her 2 jobs to make ends meat so she can provide for both of her son and their needs….working at Sweetopia is very demanding. Working conditions not ideal especially when her sons also need her as well.

When Cy and Jolie meet the spark and fireworks are hot and heavy…but as Jolie lets her guard down believing Cy is genuine…what happens when Cy dives in to find out whom may be the leader of an employee uprising and also juggling his feelings for Jolie…knowing he has secrets ….

Definitely read and find out…I loved this story and I cannot wait to dive in to Moon and Katja’s story in Book 2!

I loved the characters Cy and Jolie – I loved the undercover they didn’t know who each other was and in my opinion that gave them the perfect chance to get to know each other properly! They had such chemistry and it certainly made those pages sizzle at times! Jolie was such an amazing character, I really did love her and everything she did for and everything she did for her family, she was such a relatable character and I really took her into my heart and I 100% came to love Cy in the end!

This book had me rolling. It had a few good laughs and a lot of spice! In the beginning Cy was a little annoying. He was your typical spoiled rich kid, that used money to solve all of his problems. But seeing his character grow and mature was worth the sometimes cringe worthy moments he had. Jolie is your single mom with 2 boys. She’s hardworking, and does everything she can for her boys, especially her little boy that has cystic fibrosis. Her side of the story watching her try to make ends meet broke my heart. But when she put’s Cy in his place several times, it was noteworthy. It was a good contemporary romance read, and a good short book. The story was sweet and heartfelt, and the writing like always was phenomenal. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the family and see where their stories go!

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Book 1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sugar and Spice is book 1 in this new adventure by author Phoebe Alexander. It has been revamped and updated in this 2nd edition. However, it is still a fun story. It is original and different. Our main characters are the Sweet family, specifically Cy Sweet aka Marcus and the workers from Sweetopia, specifically Jolie, the Red Velvet Queen and Colleen the boss lady. There seems to be a few disgruntled employees in a land of Sweetness and fairytales. Cy’s job is to find the ringleader and restore peace to Sweetopia.

Sugar and Spice is a little different from the stories Alexander usually writes. It’s a little “sweeter”. The sex is still spicy, but the actual story is sweet. However, once Cy and Jolie get to the hot tub things just might change and lead to a steamer second story!

I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the rest of the series!
