Beast (Popov Boys Book 5) by Leslie Georgeson – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Beast (Popov Boys #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beast is Book Five in the Popov Boys Series. Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This was a beautifully written story about two scarred souls who form a friendship that builds into a romance. Adrik has earned the name Beast because his face is badly scarred from having been attacked by a dog when he was a child. He feels that he has no hopes of ever finding love because of how he looks. Annika is a mafia princess who Adrik has been assigned to protect after she was attacked so viciously in the past that she was temporarily in a wheelchair. When her attacker resurfaces and threatens to finish the job Annika is put under the watch of Adrik and one other bodyguard and kept in a safe location. Adrik and Annika begin to grow close as they spend time together sharing painful secrets and confiding in one another about feeling like outcasts. When Annika’s attacker seeks to follow through with his threats, Adrik vows to protect Annika at all costs.

The storyline of two scarred individuals forging a friendship that turns into more over time is what grabbed my attention. The characters were wonderfully written and lovable. Beast/Adrik’s past is painful as he comes from an abusive home. He vowed to become something and has worked hard over the years to work his way up in the Popov Crime Family as their interrogator and thug. Having been viciously attacked by a dog as a child has scarred him on the inside as well as on the outside and he feels as though he is a monster that is unworthy of love. He has always admired Annika from afar, but she has been off limits to him because it is his boss’ daughter. What he does not realize is that Annika has always been curious about him, and she also does not feel like she belongs. Annika is not a spoiled princess but is kind, compassionate, empathetic, and loving. As they spend time together Adrik realizes that this beautiful woman can see past his scars. This book was wonderful with action, suspense, mystery, drama, friendship, forbidden romance, passion, and a few twists and turns to keep you reading.

Beast
By: Leslie Georgeson

Andrik is such an amazing character. He has definitely been dealt a hard hand and he is very judged by his looks. He has lived a very hard life and has not had anything handed to him. He joined the Popov Bravata and works his way very hard to earn his way up the ranks. In the earns himself a very special assignment, guarding the boss’ daughter. Who also happens to be the girl he has had a crush on in nearly forever. Annika is not a normal Bravata princess, she loves her piano more than people and is confined to a wheelchair. The two develop feelings for each other, however, Andrik fails at his duty to protect her. This turns their lives on their heads again.
Once again this mafia story is fantastic. I cannot recommend this series enough. It is filled with steam, suspense and twists and turns!

This book gave off beauty and the beast vibes. It is book 5 in the series, but I don’t think you have to go back to read the other books first. I might have to go check them out, just because I couldn’t totally get into this book. I will give this series another chance and read book 1 to see if I like it.

Oh man, I’m back. I jumped right into this one after I binge read the first three books lmao. I could not put this series down. Leslie Georgeson has such a way of telling a story that keeps you enthralled. I love that we still get to see the characters from the previous books. Adrik and Annika are my fave couple so far. The one definitely puts you through the feels man, but I loved every minute of it.I can’t believe I have to wait until March for the next installment of the Popov Bratva Series.
1000 percent recommend this series.

There’s something so intriguing about flawed characters. If you’ve read other books in this series, you may have gotten a brief glimpse of Adrik, AKA the Beast, and hoped to read more. Fortunately, you could also easily pick this book up as a stand-alone and be just as enthralled with the storyline. Adrik’s character draws the reader in with his broody personality and mysterious past. After joining the Bratva, and being assigned watch over Mafia Princess, Annika, Beast is faced with protecting his years long crush from a dangerous stalker, while trying even harder to ignore his feelings for her. Annika is strange and unique and quirky, which all seem to appeal to Adrik a great deal. She’s just as enthralled. There are so many twists and turns, flashbacks, hurdles, and emotions going on in this story, and I couldn’t get enough. Wonderful read!

Beast (Popov Bratva #5) by Leslie Georgeson

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Beast is the fifth book in the Popov Bratva Series.

Adrik is called Beast because that’s what he is. He has been watching Annika from afar and now he’s in close contact with her. Can he keep her safe? Even if it has to be from himself? The quote I chose for Adrik is: “No. I don’t associate with him. I hate that b****rd. I haven’t seen him since I was seventeen. I don’t even know if he’s still alive. I hope to f*** he’s dead, cause if he’s not, the next time I see him, I’m killing him.”

Annika is being hunted and is being whisked away by one of her dad’s men. They call him the beast and she soon learns why that is. He is to keep her safe, but she doesn’t know how to help him with that. The quote I chose for Annika is: “Remember how I told you piano helped me with my trauma? Well, I truly think if you spend time with Harley, he can help you with yours. I’m not saying you’ll be cured after one session, but it can’t hurt to give it a try, right?”

Highly recommended for Mafia Romantic Suspense lovers.

It pulled me in from the first! The characters are complex so it takes some time to understand. I love that it switches back and forth as far as perspectives go. This is the first book in the series I have read but I don’t feel like I missed out on anything! The way the relationship between Adrik and Annika develops is slow but that so helps build the story in the best way.

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Annika Popov is his dream, his fantasy, and his salvation. A Bratva Princess he has sworn to protect, from everyone and everything.
Adrik lived a dark and sad life growing up, starting with being attacked by a dog as a child, permanently disfiguring his face. His father was a twisted ad crooked man who worked for the mafia and was the beginning of his trauma.
Adrik is known as the “Beast,” in part from his line of work and his disfigured face. He will do anything in his power to protect his Princess, no matter the cost.

This amazing story follows Adrik and Annika’s twisted story. I fell in love the first page, and I highly suggest you give it a read!!!

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beast is the second book I’ve read by this author and I’m even more obsessed than I was before! Though the characters are linked to previous books, there is no critical information missing so each book can be read as a stand alone despite being a part of a series.
I couldn’t help but fall in love all over again (having initially ‘met’ Adrik in book 4). My love for Beast only deepened as the plot progressed and seeing how the characters pasts shaped them and how they evolve as the current events unfold had me reading through the night.
I was really rooting for Adrik to get his happy ending with everything I learnt about him and still hold him in my heart.
Obviously, I wanted Annika to get her happily ever after too and I admire her strength given everything she was put through.
The characters felt so believable to me I genuinely felt a loss when the book ended but I’m excited to throw myself into the author’s next book in March. Until then, I’ll be throwing myself into the first books of the series and their equally lovable characters.
This is fast becoming one of my favourite series by a new favourite author. I cannot recommend this enough!

Wow this was my first book by Leslie and it was great! The romance, the storyline, the heartbreak. All absolutely amazing! I honestly cannot say enough good things about this book and this author.

Adrian and Annika had a beautiful story. The connection they shared was so unique and special. Their bond gave them strength, courage, and happiness that they could only find with each other.
Adrik had a tragic childhood and suffered through something unthinkable. He however was still loyal and determined. Annika had a beautiful spirit and fierce dedication to those around her… after an attack she struggles to reclaim that piece of her. Together Adrik and Annika show love conquers all when it’s right and meant to be.

Adrik has worked for the Popov family for several years, and he’s been secretly in love with Annika for almost as long. He’s the scary “interrogator” so there’s no chance of him ever having a chance with a Bratva princess. When a stalker sets his sights on Annika, Adrik is assigned to protect her 24/7. Can he focus on the job at hand and not be distracted by her presence? This is the next book in the series and I enjoyed it as much as the others.

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My first book by this author and what a great story. Adrik is a beast in all the ways he needs to be. He looks like a beast, he fights like a beast, he works like a beast and he loves like a beast! However, the one he loves doesn’t know he even exists. Interesting twist is she does see him. Annika is the Bratva princess he is ordered to protect. He has been watching her for a long time and when a real beast closes in on the princess, Adrik has to bring out his inner beast to protect and save her.

This is book 5 in the series and includes may other characters that may already have their own story written. I am definitely going back to read the others as this series/family is intriguing and exciting. I enjoyed both of these main characters and all their “flaws” which really are just personal characteristics. I am also glad to see there are other stories being written about the rest of the family.

I’d recommend this new to me author and her Bratva family to those readers who like a little action, a little romance, a little steamy adult time, and a little plot twist to wrap up a really good story.

Wow…where to start with this review. This was a great 5 star read. This was my first read from this author and I was pulled right in. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down. I will warn that there are some things that are meant for 18+ readers.

Beast (Adrik) as he is called due to his face being horribly scarred is a member of the mob. He is trying to make a life for himself so that he can help his younger brother who is still stuck at home with their dad. When he is given the job to protect Annika things get interesting. I loved Annika, she saw him for his true self and I loved it. Will Beast let his walls down and let Annika in? Can he keep her safe?

Overall I really enjoyed this book. We get suspense, steamy moments, scary moments, teary eyed moments and so much more. This book can be read as a stand alone. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I can’t wait to read more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

This was a great read. Even though this is the fifth book in this series you don’t have to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. I haven’t read the previous books in this series but after reading this book I am definitely going to. This story drew me in and kept me captivated throughout. It was so heartbreaking that so many people treated Adrik the way they did because of his looks. This book has danger, romance, suspense, mafia, and great characters. I won’t give anything away but I will say this is a must read. I highly recommend this book.

This was my 2nd book in this series. Thief was the first book I read and this book was just as good. I love how the book was written and the first few chapters give some great insight on Adrik. The flashback portions weren’t distracting or misplaced and really help us learn why Adrik is the way he is. This series is so good and the books being able to be read as standalone books is refreshing.

Let me start this out by saying I’m not the hugest mafia/bratva fan but PHEW. This author got me changing my mind. I find something incredibly sexy about a scarred up MC- especially when they have more substance than their character revolving around their scars. The chemistry between Adrik and Annika was off the charts. Annika was beautiful and despite being a princess- she was relatable- who doesn’t feel like an outcast every once in awhile? I love the way their story unfolded and I can’t wait to read the rest in the series. I might just give this genre more of a chance! Check it out my friends- it’s definitely worth a read.

Beast is a stunning mixture of mafia and beauty and the beast esque vibes. Leslie Georgeson creates a suspenseful story full of betrayal, slow burning love, friendship, family. Not to mention a chest full of the dark side of humanity to those different from the norm, and faith in the wrong people?! I loved the HEA with these two “weird” humans who found each other in the midst of their pain and sorrow, and the complicated journey they had along the way. All the piano scenes had my heart and soul trapped!

I cannot get enough!! I have not read the other Bratva books, but I now definitely plan on going back and reading them! This novel stuck out to me because I absolutely love the Beauty and the Beast story, and this sounded comparable. I was not disappointed in the slightest. You will love everything about Annika and Adrik. The author did a fantastic job creating these characters and did the same with the plot.
This is definitely still a Mafia novel, so do not get that confused with the romance entwined within. I can guarantee you will still find it thrilling and mysterious. I definitely did. I highly recommend this book. You will not be able to put it down!

This is the first book I have read in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed how the reader found out things about what had happened in Adrik’s (also known as The Beast) past as he revealed them to his love interest. It’s sweet how they both have this desire for each other, and although he has worked for the family for years, Adrik has attempted to maintain his professional distance from Annika. The two have their individual traumas that both eventually feed into the events that unfold when Adrik and his best friend Tim are the two Bratva members assigned to be Annika’s personal guards when she begins receiving threating text messages. I am excited to go back and read the other works in this series! I have not read a book written by Mrs. Georgeson that didn’t have me hooked!

Beast (Popov Bratva #5)Beast by Leslie Georgeson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing! Heartfelt, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all in one! Adrik is a loyal Popov boyveik, or soldier, and he has been for a long time. It’s the only place he ever felt accepted because of his facial deformities. He is known as the beast. From the moment he saw Annika Popov, the granddaughter of the Popov mafia leader, he knew he needed to get to know her. But she was off limits, and he wanted to shield her from having to see his deformed face. This is a love story, but it’s also a family story. The Popov family is strong and wealthy, and they worked very hard to be in that position. Adrik’s family, and family trauma, are nothing like the Popovs. Sadly, his past comes back to haunt him. Read this book if you love suspense, betrayal, family loyalty, and fighting for someone you love.

Adrik and Annika’s story might just be in my top three favorite reads for 2022. I did read this as a stand-alone without any problems but you can tell other characters have a story to be read so I’ll definitely be going back to read the rest of the series. There’s so many amazing things about this story, the characters pull you so completely into their world it’s hard to leave when the end comes. Once I started this book I simply couldn’t put it down. I read it in one night and wished I could have slowed it down but I was just way to invested. I’ll definitely be rereading this one though. Well written with characters you’ll fall for. I just want to start off saying that this book was a good read. I liked that Adrik had a plan to make things happen to try and better his life and then set things into motion. After having such a hard life due to some unfortunate circumstances he didn’t feel like he stood a chance doing anything. He must’ve felt like he was on cloud nine when the Bratva Brotherhood let him into their ranks. He spent years proving that he was a good and loyal soldier to them so he got the task of protecting the boss’ daughter, Annika. Adrik is the only one that stand between Annika and whoever is after her. He has been crushing on her for years but he doesn’t want to scare her away like so many others with his scars. Will he be able to keep her safe from himself?

I chose this book for the name thinking it was a twist on the classic Beauty and the Beast, and even though it wasn’t completely, I enjoyed it so much! I’ve been reading a lot of mafia books by Amy McKinley in the past year and a half or so, and even though it wasn’t by her, it was just as fantastic as all of them have been.

This book is the fifth of the series but I was able to enjoy it without having read the other books first. I enjoyed the story a lot, the flashbacks that pop up throughout made me want to not put it down, because it made me need to know more about ‘Beast’ and his haunted past. I love the connection that he forges with Annika, and how she is able to show him that it is what lies beneath the surface that matters more. Can’t wait to read more by this author!

I haven’t been this interested in a mafia story in ages. I couldn’t put it down! Adrik and Annika are this unlikely, yet perfect pair that fit together in the most unexpected, wonderful ways.

Learning about Adrik’s traumatising past, along with Annika’s, and seeing the similarities was absolutely insane. There are twists, turns, and love in all corners of this story that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire book.

I loved every minute of this one, and I just KNOW you will too.
