Liz’s Road Trip by Bernadette Marie is an emotional yet hopeful little gem of a book!!!

The book opens on a pretty sad note. Liz Evans has just lost her beloved grandmother. As she is going through her things, she finds a letter that will completely change her life. Her Gran wants her to take her back to her home, in Florida. When she gets there, a mystery man, Mark, will tell her all about the Gran that she didn’t know. So, she embarks on a trip with Gran and Gran’s cat, Cosmo, that will possibly end up being an adventure that could finally lead her to a forever romance and a life filled with joy beyond her imagination!

At times, Liz was extremely frustrating for me. Her moods could swing from hot to cold, especially in her burgeoning relationship with Mark. I wanted to shake some sense into her, but as I sat back and digested more of her story, I began to understand her more and have sympathy for her. She just lost the woman who sacrificed so much to raise her after Liz’s mother died. In addition, she discovers that her grandmother had many secrets and had a life she knew nothing about. I imagine that Mark knowing those secrets impacted her relationship with him as well. It was all those complicated and complex emotions that made the book so good.

There were so many reasons I loved this book. I liked that Marie pulled on my heartstrings and had me really invested in the characters, especially Liz. Gran was not physically present in the book, but she played such a pivotal role in the plot and pacing of the book. She was still teaching Liz lessons after she was gone. My favorite thing about the book was the growth that Liz went through. She began the book as pretty self-centered, but by the end of the book, a lot of that self-centeredness was gone. Most importantly, she went from just living a good life to a life well-lived, and that is exactly what Gran wanted for her all along.

I haven’t read a book by Bernadette Smalls, but this one won’t be my last one. She is a very talented writer who knows exactly how to pull her readers smack dab in the middle of her story. If you like a sweet romance full of emotions, you should definitely give this one a try!!!!

Liz has been raised by her grandmother since she was 10. And she was a very loving and devoted grandma, to the point that she’s still lovingly meddling even in death. Liz goes on an adventure where she discovers that her grandmother wasn’t just her grandmother but had a rather spectacular life she gave up to raise her. She also meets a handsome man who knew her grandmother along the way! Very good book with a sweet love story built in!

Liz’s Road Trip is a wonderfully written Contemporary Romance Women’s Fiction that I absolutely loved reading. It’s a fun yet emotional story that will take you on quite the journey. Liz finds herself on a road trip along with a feline companion to carry out her grandmother’s last wishes. She learns once she arrives at her grandmother’s house that there was lots she didn’t know about her grandmother. Mark has been writing Liz’s grandmother’s biography and bot does Liz learn more about her than she ever expected. Liz has lots of challenging changes to work through and learn to live while she’s at it. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. You’ll find yourself tearing up along the way but it’s worth the heartache. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

I really loved this book. Liz is a young woman who is a writer for a magazine. At the story’s beginning, we find out that her grandmother is about to pass. She is the only person Liz has in her life, minus her best friend. After her grandmother’s passing, she is trying to figure out what to do next, she feels she doesn’t have anybody. Well, she starts to handle her grandmother’s affairs and starts to find out that Gran has many secrets. These secrets lead her on a journey of her own. Liz is a girl who doesn’t go anywhere, try new things, and definitely does not fly. However, because her grandmother has certain wishes for her, she goes on this journey to find out who this woman really was, and in the process finds herself. This is also a love story of many. She isn’t sure if the journey will be worth it, but she loves her grandmother so much that she is willing to try.
Sooo much happens in this story and I didn’t want to give too much away. What I will say is that Liz is the character that you watch grow over her experience. I think she is very relatable to many people with her intimidations in life, dealing with death, and then trying to find a new life beyond those people. There were times when I found her a little annoying, but it was more personal than anything about the book itself. I found this book to be quite healing in a way; it gives perspective on life and death. I also enjoyed many of the other characters that you come to learn about, especially Mark. He is so special in this book and the character is smart, lovable, patient, and kind. It was also quick-paced so I will be interested in reading other books by this author.

Liz’s Road Trip by Bernadette Marie. This has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I loved this book. Its the story of Liz whose Grandmother has passed away and her grandmothers last wishes are soon to be known. Liz knows part of them but doesn’t realize there is a lot more to them than her grandmother told her. Liz takes off from their hometown of Denver, Colorado and plans to travel to Palm Beach to spread her ashes. Traveling with her grandmothers cat she discovers all kinds of secrets once she gets there. One being her grandmother was a big Hollywood Star and has a mansion in Florida. Living in that mansion is her grandmothers good friend Mark who is writing her grandmothers biography. Finding out her grandmother had many affairs and lived a life Liz knew nothing about is blowing her mind. When there are sparks between Mark and Liz that just adds to the whole mess. I loved every second of this book. So fun and entertaining. Can’t wait to read whatever else this author has in store!

The relationship that Liz has with her Gran is one that most people would love to have. Gran raised Liz since age 10 when her mom died. Now, Gran has passed and it’s in her wishes that Liz go on a trip to Florida to settle things there. Little did Liz know, the Gran she knew wasn’t the same person that her friends knew.

A call from WATTS one day started changing everything. Mark Watts becomes a new friend for Liz and she soon finds out that Mark lives in her grandmother’s 7 million dollar home in Florida. With so many questions that have been unanswered, Liz takes this trip to meet up with Mark and others who knew her Gran. Life will forever be different after this trip. As Gran would say though, “Live with no regrets!”

This book is full of raw emotion. One minute I was crying, the next I was laughing, then I was ready to throw the book and hit something! LOL A very enjoyable read!

This is one of my favorite genres to read! I love stories about growth and finding yourself. I thought I knew where the story was headed but I was wrong. At least about most of it. Some of it I was right about but it did not make it any less amazing. I read this book at the right time. I needed it somehow and plan to read it again. I absolutely love how this story is written and I love this author style. Liz has so much growth and I loved every second of it. Learning about her grandmother’s life with her made me not want to stop reading until I reached the end. Of course then I did not want the story to end. And Mark, don’t even get me started on Mark. The overwhelming patience he has is so sweet. This is such a great read!!!!

This was such a beautifully written story that I just couldn’t put down. I have read other novels from the author and she has written such a heartfelt and uplifting story that just gives you the feels all over. I absolutely loved how well written the characters were, and seeing Liz’s growth and change as she learned about who her grandmother was and the life she lead, was spellbinding. I felt like the characters felt authentic and realistic in how they behaved and reacted to different situations. I absolutely adored Mark and felt he was such a positive presence for Liz as she completed her journey. I also loved her bestie Grace and felt she was absolutely the type of best friend anyone would be lucky to have. I am always a fan of any story that also includes a fun pet and Cosmo definitely fit the bill! If you are in the mood for a story about self-discovery and romance, this is another amazing story by the author.

I really enjoyed this book! Liz hasn’t had the easiest life with her mom dying when Liz was 10. But Liz has had her grandmother, Betsy, who doted on her and gave her a wonderful life. Now that her grandmother has passed, Liz is finding out that Betsy wasn’t all she seemed. Liz finds out that Betsy was a famous actress who gave it all up for Liz. Her grandmother even had a man that she loved, and his grandson was basically her grandson too! Liz’s world is thrown for a loop as she meets this grandson. After her death, Betsy has quite an adventure planned for her granddaughter and maybe even a little matchmaking. As I followed Liz as she learned about who her grandmother was, I could hardly put the book down. I was completely hooked. It was a fairly clean book with minor sexual scenes and language sprinkled throughout the book. Bernadette Marie has another winner with this book!

This contemporary romance is chortle but sweet. With a quirky MC and her furry travel companion on a road trip to honour her grandmother. The journey turns out to be more than Liz bargains for. An uplifting and entertaining story, told in dual POV which adds a better dimension, this story has highs and some emotional lows. Recommend.

Bernadette Marie is a first time author for me, but I was absolutely amazed by her writing. The characters she introduces in Liz’s Road Trip were interesting, unique, believable, and realistic. I felt that Liz was the most true to life (even if she annoyed me slightly with her selfishness). Liz had so much emotional baggage to deal with throughout the story and I did not envy her position at all. The element of romance between Liz and Mark was sweet, but also up and down, at least in Liz’s mind. I found this book not only filled with great characters, but an amazing storyline as well. Death is inevitable and dealing with the death of a loved one is often difficult to negotiate. I think Bernadette Marie did a stunning job bringing Liz’s emotions to life. This was one of my favorite reads so far this year and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Well this was an unexpected and emotional story. I went into this book expecting a fun and entertaining story (which we got) but I didn’t expect to be emotionally invested in the characters, specifically Liz, and her journey. I thought thr author navigated you through it brilliantly and it made me connect with the book even more.

I do not consider myself a person who cries easily or who cries over fiction. But let me tell you, this book had me in tears from the beginning. I don’t know if it is the combination of wonderful writing and missing my momma or what but WOW. This book definitely had me pulled in from the start. I LOVE that Liz’s grandmother had a sordid past and what a past it was. Liz is definitely selfish and wants everything to revolve around her and this time things aren’t about her, she is fulfilling the wishes of her deceased grandmother and yes Liz is a bit of a brat about it at times. I love that her Bestie and new Boyfriend have put her in her place a time or two. I really enjoyed this book and read it from start to finish in one sitting.

When Liz’s grandmother dies, Liz sets off to spread her ashes at the Florida home. Along the way, Liz learns about another side of her grandmother through the tenet at the house. Liz also learns about herself.
Opinion
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. My father in law recently died and it certainly brought back some amount of grief.
I really was consumed by this book, more so than I have been in any book recently. With shorter chapters, the book seemed to fly by (even though it was quite long.) I did not want to put the book down for any of the mundane tasks like taking the kid to his XC practice. I was fortunate to have read this book while on vacation and fear that if I would have read it while working that I would have gone to work quite tired.
The romance was cute. At first, I was a bit creeped out by how much he knew her but by the end it was endearing.

Liz’s Road Trip is a sweet romance that deals with love, grief, learning about the past, and friendship. Liz has lost her grandmother and learns she did not know as much as she once thought she knew about her. Liz travels to her grandmother’s home and meets Mark. He has been writing her grandmother’s story and fills Liz in on the past she didn’t know about. The story has lots of emotions while at the same time being relatable. I enjoyed the characters and story. Also, I enjoyed the relationship that builds between Liz and Mark. Liz has a lot that she has to deal with emotionally while also taking in all the changes her life is experiencing. This is a great story if you need an emotional but heartwarming read. I’m always excited when this author has a new book out, and I was definitely not disappointed by this latest novel. The storyline focuses on Liz Evans who has set out on a cross-country road trip, along with her grandmother’s cat, to carry out the final wishes of her grandmother. Along the way Liz learns that the grandmother that she knew, who was always collecting coupons was actually a very wealthy women, and a Hollywood icon who had many international lovers. Having been raised by Betsy, Liz is shocked by her discoveries, and even more so when she meets biographer, Mark Watts, who is living in her grandmother’s Palm Beach home, which she also knew nothing about. Mark is then able to tell Liz about her grandmother’s past, becoming a confidant in the process. As their friendship turns into something more and their relationship develops, the Liz who likes her solitude realises that she might just need a house in Palm Beach, a man and her grandmother’s crazy cat to be happy! I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming romance which had me hooked from page one. I loved the characters and the chemistry between Liz and Mark really came across in the narrative. An enjoyable and engaging read.

I liked the concept of the road trip to discovery behind the book, especially as the discovery wasn’t just limited to Liz. I loved the way we learnt more about Liz’s grandmother as the story progressed, it added a more engaging element to the mystery surrounding her.

I liked the characters (Mark especially), they were well-written and relatable.
Liz was another good character; she was understandably going through a difficult time and was dealing with it as best she could despite all the secrets that were gradually coming to light. There were times she was a little frustrating, but this was a minor issue compared to the rest of the book.

This was an entertaining and at times surprising read, and I look forward to reading more from this author.

First off, let me say that I have never read a Bernadette Marie book and not love it. However, this one exceeded each and every one of my expectations. Liz Evans is quite possibly the best character she has written so far and I just loved the plot of this one. I love that Liz is challenged to live a life with no regrets. I love the whole premise of this book. I love that her grandmother had a whole secret life that she didn’t know about. This is just such a wonderful story. LIz’s Road Trip was a fun, unpredictable, and thought-provoking read. Having just lost my grandparents in the past two years, it was a refreshing and cathartic read for me. I connected with the main character, LIz, and laughed along with her along the way, because even when life gets you down, laughter can be the best medicine.

I really appreciated the depthness of the characters and the characters aren’t static but grow from the beginning to end. The story between Mark and Liz grows and unfolds slowly, but liked the format of the book (made it more mysterious) and Liz tries to discover another side of her grandma she never knew.
