Something Lost by Bernadette Marie – Review by Carisa Saenz

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The story Something Lost was great once the main plot got going. It is very slow in the beginning. I would have preferred if it didn’t take so long for these to start building between Craig and Rachel. Other than that this love story does pull heartstrings.

Something Lost
(Funerals and Weddings Series Book 1)
By: Bernadette Marie
Genre: Romance
Pages: 233

Now this is a true love story, you cannot go wrong!
From the very beginning I was hooked on the plot of the story.
Craig and Rachel are relationship goals because you can’t go wrong with rekindled love.
Do you remember your high school sweetheart?
Well Rachel’s father is the means of funerals in the title, death has brought this couple back together, or did it?
Is rekindling what’s best for both of them?
Let’s talk about this cover …..love so simple yet enticing and the characters stories really have you hooked and excited to read the rest of the series to learn more about the back story of each.
It is a page turner and I enjoyed it.
This is a sophisticated way of writing a love story and it is highly recommended.
Four stars, not to shabby!

Just lovely. Something Lost by Bernadette Marie is a beautiful, second chance romance! This isn’t my first by Bernadette Marie and as always, she delivers a well-written story with great flow. I just love her writing style and character development. This was a page-turner for me for sure.

A group of friends and teammates return home to mourn the loss of their high school coach. Rachel, the coach’s daughter is there and we begin to learn that she and one of the friends, Craig, have history. Is there too much history? Or can they rekindle love from the past?

I just loved this book. It was full of nostalgia, friendship, and romance. I felt the characters were relatable, helping me invest more in the story. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

My Review: 5 out of 5 stars

Craig Turner and Rachel Diaz have come together again when Craig returns to help bury her father and his beloved coach. They had an intense romance in high school and thought they would be together for the long haul. With Rachel being a few years younger than Craig, she was left heartbroken when he graduated and went off to college. Maybe her father was being an overprotective father, but Coach Diaz forbade them from seeing one another and made them promise to keep their distance. The attraction and feelings couldn’t be ignored though. Now 10 years has passed and those intense feelings are coming back to life. They had kept their promise to Coach while he was alive and they are trying their hardest to keep that promise now that he is gone. Will they be able to build a friendship or will they cross that line and become something more?

I love second chance romances! These two were great together and I’m glad I picked up this book. Not only was this a second chance at romance, but it was a renewing of old friendships that was nice to read about. When we get busy living life we can tend to lose touch with those we were close with during our school days. Sparking up those old friendships and being able to pick up where you left off no matter how much time has passed is amazing.

I absolutely loved this book. It is a second chance romance and the story of Craig and Rachel definitely keeps you wanting more. Craig returns home to attend his high school coach’s funeral and runs into his high school sweetheart Rachel who is none other than the coach’s daughter. They have unfinished business to work through and it leads them back in to each other’s arms and hearts. I know I am already in love with this series and definitely plan on getting the rest of the books.

Something Lost (Funerals and Weddings Series Book 1) by Bernadette Marie

Something Lost is the first book in the Funerals and Weddings Series by Bernadette Marie. This is a Contemporary Romance about second chances. I absolutely loved this book and being pulled in from the beginning I was lost in the pages and had to know what was going to happen next. I’ve read several books by this author and I’m a huge fan and this looks kike this series will go on my re-read list as well. There were parts of this story my heart ached and my emotions were all over the place but it could have had something to do with my life at that moment. This is Rachel and Craig’s story. These two were a thing in high school he was the star football player and she was the coach’s daughter. Things happened and it tore them apart but they are brought back together years later after her dads funeral. Can these two get a second chance? But will past secrets tear them apart again? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Something Lost was a really good read! It was entertaining, romantic, emotional and had some funny bits in it as well. If you’re looking for a feel good, happy ending type of story this one is it. Bernadette Marie’s books all seem to follow a similar style and this one is no different. Picking up one of her books is like a comfort because you always know what to expect. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series!

For one, I would like to state that this book has many surprises, but I am so glad, because man were they SO GOOD! You first start out at a funeral of a loving coach, father, and husband. You are introduced to his family, as well as his main students he took pride in and watched all of them from afar. When his daughter finds one of those members again, another story rekindles and begins there. There are a lot of twist and turns, past and present, and lots of love, relationships, and friendships that are everlasting. I cannot wait to continue reading this series!
