Squall Line (The Inland Seas Series Book One) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Squall Line (The Inland Seas #1)Squall Line by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Squall Line by Gwyn McNamee.

This was such a fresh and fun story line!
I really had pictured something completely different after reading about the book and I was excited to read it – let me tell you that I was taken by surprise and it was a thousand times better than what I had in my mind!

I absolutely fell in love with all the characters, the surroundings were described so perfect that I could clearly picture them in my mind and like I said earlier – the story line itself was amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat, for all the right reasons!

Warwick and Grace both surprised me and I love both of them – they are both complex characters that you can’t ever pin down and you’ll learn a lot about them and what lead them to be where they are, when you meet them.

I devoured this book and I’m actually going to be reading it again!

That’s how good it is.

Gwyn McNamee is one author that I’ll be looking for, from now on – I really hope that we get to see books about the rest of the characters we saw in this book.

I’d give this book 10 stars if I could. Thank you Gwyn McNamee, thank you.

Say Something by Jennifer L. Allen – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir.

Say SomethingSay Something by Jennifer L. Allen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Say something by Jennifer L. Allen.

I feel like I have to be honest here – I can get overly critical of romance novels, I don’t know why but I find that it’s easy to make them too mushy or unrealistic.

This book took my breath away!
It has such depth and it pulls you in right from the beginning.

From page 1 I was invested! And I got pulled further down this delightful bunny hole, with every page!

It had romance, heartache, friendship, complicated family history, old times and new beginnings and I loved it all!

I would love to read more books from this author – including a book about each one of the characters we got to know in this one. I’ll be going on the hunt for more of her books.

This book was unbelievably well written – in every sense of the word.

Pick this book up today – you’ll regret it if you don’t!

Impact (Twisted Hearts Love Story #4) by Autumn Sand – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Impact (A Twisted Hearts Love Story book 4)Impact by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Impact: Twisted Hearts Love Story, by Autumn Sand.

This series has been epic to say the least!

I’ve fallen in love with so many characters in this series and of course, Manny and Zoe are no different.

This book was so engaging and exciting – it took some surprising turns at times and it really did have me wishing I could read faster.

We start out by reading about Manny as a young boy before it cuts to him being an adult.

We continue getting flashbacks of his younger self that answers so many questions (many that I didn’t even knew I had), while we follow him in the present.

Zoe and Manny have gone through a lot – both separately and together – one can only wonder if they will get to a good place with this much history.

Autumn Sand has a way of really pulling you in and I’m so glad I found this series!

Now I’m gone hunting for her next one!

Shortcuts (Singularities) by Amy Bearce – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

ShortcutsShortcuts by Amy Bearce
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Shortcuts (Singularities), by Amy Bearce.

Wow – this is a very intense story about Parker and her friends DeShawn, Avery and Ethan.
They are a very close group of friends and have more in common than just your typical high school hobbies!

Life is going relatively smooth for Parker and her friends until the new girl starts in school.
Mia starts in her new school with some epic weight on her shoulders – and as an empath, Parker is hit with Mia’s feelings, full force.

Always wanting to fix things and make other people happy, Parker is determined to help Mia fit in and tries her hardest to help Mia find some happiness and peace.

But being an empath doesn’t exactly come with a manual and Parker’s gift starts to morph into something she hasn’t known before.

Reading about this close group of friends and how they embraced Mia and Josh, really moves you.

This was a very powerful book that I couldn’t put down!

Taking shortcuts in life might be tempting – you might get there quicker but will you get there in one piece?

I’m immensely impressed with Amy Bearce and her writing skills – this is a must read!

Bedlam (A Twisted Hearts Love Story Book 1) by Autumn Sand – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Bedlam (A Twisted Hearts Love Story, #1)Bedlam by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Bedlam (Twisted Hearts Love Story #1), by Autumn Sand.

Anya is an amazing woman, through and through!

She knows what she wants, she is strong, she is smart and she’s a fighter.

Tony is a man of action – he is not shy to go after what he wants – no matter how hard it might be to get it.

Wow! Just WOW! I’m not one for a book that has too many plot twists or *too much* drama – I am very critical at books that have a bit of either.

But this book blew me out of the water – I mean, I devoured it and already got book number 2 in the series.

The chemistry that Anya and Tony have, leaps off the page without being cheap or unbelievable – it is *Oh so right* and it kind of made me jealous just reading about them – that’s how good the writing is!

The plot of this book is off the charts and I loved every minute of it – it has steamy moments, surprises, heartache, suspense and best of all, it has meat on it’s bones (something that I find is often lacking in many books).

I often find supporting characters easy to forget – but Bedlam gave me Tick, Manny and even Magnum – all characters that I could easily read books about.

Bravo Autumn Sand – Bravo! You have a new superfan!

The Billionaire and the Therapist (Clean Billionaire Romance Reads Book 1) by Kim Koby – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

The Billionaire and the Therapist (Clean Billionaire Romance Reads, #1)The Billionaire and the Therapist by Kim Koby
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading The Billionaire and the Therapist.

First of all – I really liked the world building and the characters in this book.

You could easily picture yourself there and everything that was going on, at any given time.

There were a few parts in this story that made me want to reach in and hug the characters – especially Catherine.

But the chemistry and the blossoming relationship between Natalie and John was very obvious and you couldn’t help but to root for them.

I’ve already got my hand on book number 2 in this series and I can’t wait to read it!

Solid 5 stars from a new fan!

I just finished reading WTF, God?: Understanding God in the Midst of Transition,
by Michelle N. Onuorah.

I have to be honest here – I didn’t think I’d love this book when I decided to read it – no particular reason really but I decided to give it a try anyway and I am so glad I did.

This book was such a joy to read!

The ups in this book were beautiful and the downs made my heart ache for the young girl I was reading about but it was so inspiring and it was obviously written by a mastermind!

I don’t know exactly what it took to write this book but I can imagine it took a lot of courage and strength and I thank you Michelle Onuorah, from the bottom of my heart, for writing it.

I recommend you to read this book, today!

I just finished reading Claimed Royalty: (Crowned and Claimed Series, Book 1), by Betty Shreffler.

Wow, wow, WOW!

I don’t know why I do this but usually I try to picture what the book is like when I read the book description – and I am usually somewhat close – but this one took me by the biggest surprise and I love it!

I am honestly itching to get my hands on the next book in this series!

Princess Fiora is a force to be reckoned with and she has a fire in her soul that I’ve yet to see in another character – ever!

I loved just about every character in this book – obviously some more than others but I could spend the next few weeks reading about them all, if given the chance.

This book was so engaging, refreshing and the storyline was amazing and new!

You will not regret reading this book – trust me!

I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

Feathers – A Novel by Kylie Stewart – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Feathers - A NovelFeathers – A Novel by Kylie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Feathers, by Kylie Stewart.

So… This book is AMAZING!

My heart hurt so much for Charlotte at the beginning, it was unbelievable.
But then you get to follow her life and see firsthand how she learns to trust, hope and love again.

And Hawk plays a big part in her transformation but first they got to go through all the emotions – skepticism, shared looks, understanding, friendship, closeness – and all that leads to love so deep, it makes you ache.

I loved all the characters, even the secondary ones – I would actually love to read their stories right from the beginning through their perspective!

But Charlotte and Hawk share a dynamic that makes you second guess all the previous love stories you’ve read and loved – and I think it’s because Kylie Stewart did such an amazing job setting up a foundation for the couple to build on – it’s almost like you, the reader, got to help them get there.

I really hope you pick this book up – I fully recommend it and will be sharing this book for a while to come!

Caught in Make-Believe (book 3 in the Caught Series) by Sharleen Scott – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Caught in Make-Believe (The Caught Series Book 3)Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott (book 3 in the Caught series).

Samantha Dylan and Jace Colton have so much chemistry together, right from the start!
It almost leaps out from the pages!

I previously read the first 2 books in this series and I loved both of them.

Here is something that I wrote in my review of the second book :
“Although I was fully smitten and infatuated with Clay and Harlie – I have got to say that Tallie and Tom are now my new favorite couple (at least until the next book, haha).”

Well… Here I am, admitting that this third installment in this series has again, taken me to new heights!

Samantha and Jace have indeed become my new favorite – and this book had so many moments where I was trying to guess the end but I really didn’t see or anticipate where this book ended up taking me! What a wild ride!

Each book, was better than the last! How? I honestly don’t know as I thought the first 2 books were epic!

Sharleen Scott is an author that you should definitely subscribe to and look for.

Easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given!

Movie Star (21st Century Courtesan, #2), by Pamela DuMond – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Movie Star (21st Century Courtesan, #2)Movie Star by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Movie Star (21st Century Courtesan, #2), by Pamela DuMond.

This book is somehow, even better than the first!

I don’t know if it’s because we know Evie and the girls a lot better now or if it’s because I *might* like Jake better than Dylan (sorry Dylan, I still love you though), or a combination of both.

I completely fell for Jake, who is very down to earth, despite being a huge movie star.

He cares for his employees, his friends and of course, Evie.

Evie, will stop at nothing when she is helping people – despite everything that she is going through in her personal life (a creepy fan, her family, her job).
She will do her best to get to the bottom of the deep dark secrets Jake has tried to bury, so he can heal and get back on his superstar track.

I really wasn’t prepared for the last bit of the book – a double whammy got dropped and I can’t wait to see the ending.

Pamela DuMond – you outdid yourself and I’m so grateful that you did!
I really, really liked the first book in this series and I was over the moon but I LOVED this one even more!

I can’t wait to read more of your books!

Caught in the Spin (Book 2 in the Caught Series) by Sharleen Scott – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Caught in the SpinCaught in the Spin by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Caught in the Spin, by Sharleen Scott (book 2 in the Caught series).

I’m going to start by saying that before I read this one, I read the first book in this series, Caught in Cross Seas and I loved it!

And although I was fully smitten and infatuated with Clay and Harlie – I got to say that Tallie and Tom are now my new favorite couple (at least until the next book, haha).

We got to know Tom a lot and we learned a lot about his painful past – and it was obvious from the beginning of the book that you wanted nothing but the best for this man.

Enter Tallie and her son.

As Harv’s new assistant, she heads up to the Masterson-Black ranch with some paperwork, already pretty nervous about meeting music star Clay Masterson.

Little did she know she’d meet Tom Black and feel this instant attraction to this stubborn, hurting man.

I loved their relationship right from the beginning and although I wouldn’t wish a Roy Peters on anyone – I have to say that his involvement in this storyline made my adrenaline race and my temper flare!

I cannot say enough about Scott’s writing style and her unbelievable talent for taking us lucky readers on an actual rollercoaster of emotions!

I really didn’t know how she’d top the first book but somehow, she did in spades!

Bravo Sharleen Scott, bravo!
Can’t wait to read the next one!

Caught in Cross SeasCaught in Cross Seas by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Caught in Cross Seas by Sharleen Scott – book 1 in the Caught Series.

Harlie Cates found friends and roots in Angel Beach, Oregon. Something she really needed but wasn’t sure she could have.

After escaping an abusive husband, she just wants peace, solitude and a safe life.

Clay Masterson is much more than a famous country singer.
He is also a man in search of his father.

Normally, when you hear that sentence, you figure that person is looking for a relationship that they feel they lost out on.

Clay Masterson, not so much. He wants to find his father so he can get some answers.

Harlie is involved in more than just her bakery, she is fighting another fight of her own.

Neither one of them is looking for a relationship – but the chemistry is so strong, they might not have a choice but to explore their feelings further, but will it be right for them?

I absolutely LOVED this book! The characters, the setting, the situations they find themselves in, everything!

When I decide to write a review, I usually do so right after reading the book – but I have to admit that I was looking for the second book in this series, before it even occurred to me to sit down and write a review for this one – THAT’S how hooked I was!

Sharleen Scott is definitely an author I will be bookmarking, subscribing to and looking for!
Her writing style is beautiful and I was in this ride from start to finish, not wanting it to end!

5 stars from me!

Player (21st Century Courtesan #1) by Pamela DuMond – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Player (21st Century Courtesan #1)Player by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Player *book 1* by Pamela DuMond.

Meet Evie Berlinger – a woman with many layers – a teacher, a sister, a daughter, a friend and an escort.

She has had to overcome a lot of hurdles in her young life, one being an incident that made a lasting impression on her 13 year old self, something that she still thinks about today.

Evie is a very selfless, caring person that tries her best to take care of everyone around her and when her empathic abilities come back in full force, she decides to use them in order to help Dylan McAlister.

Dylan McAlister has an interesting background as well and like Evie, he has had to learn to live with his not so perfect past.

Being an escort can be demanding enough but Evie goes above and beyond for her clients that are going through some tough times.

Amidst all of this, Evie starts to receive some fan mail.

Who is sending these letters to her and what is their ultimate goal?

I know I can’t wait to find out!

This was such an interesting book to read – very refreshing with some very solid characters!
I loved Evie’s friends and I loved meeting Dylan’s family as well.

Thumbs up for Pamela DuMond – I can’t wait to read her other books!

Pretty Reckless (Addicted Hearts, #1) by Jane Anthony – Review by Birna Bjornsdottir

Pretty Reckless (Addicted Hearts, #1)Pretty Reckless by Jane Anthony
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading Pretty Reckless by Jane Anthony.

HAWT! Whowsa! So hot, it might actually give you blisters on your fingertips!

This book was seriously addicting! Maybe it’s only fitting as the book focuses on two addicts.

The complexity of the characters and their situations was astonishing.

Each with their own demons to battle but so much alike – both need each other’s strength at different times (as most of us could relate to) but are they strong enough to hold each other up?
When you are both battered and broken hearted – it can be hard enough to keep yourself standing up – never mind another person that needs you.

I literally just put this book down 5 minutes ago and I’m already pining for more.

This book has it all! Complicated family bonds, friendship, hardship, sweet moments, hilarious moments, piping hot sex and love – a love that runs so deep, you can feel it.

I love Chase – he is sweet, funny, sturdy and hot but he has a past that won’t let him go.
A past that hurts so bad that he hasn’t been able to move forward.

My favorite is Kat! She is sassy, strong willed, hot tempered, sweet and funny.
But Kat has her own hurt that she is currently trying to push aside.

Join these two beautiful, broken souls in their epic journey of self discovery and love.
You won’t regret it!
