I genuinely enjoyed this book! Its the third in the authors Mafia Elite series, and although I have not read the first two books in the series I was not lost and this book can easily be read alone! I really enjoyed Emiliana and Stefano’s story. It was action packed and full of romance! I also loved reading about the relationship between Emiliana and her friends! I will be picking up the first two books now and cannot wait to read the rest of the authors series!

This is book three in this great series and I have read a few books written by this author and she hasn’t disappointed me yet. The characters are strong they have to be in their world. I love the little quirks and the way they play off each other makes them somewhat real. This book had it all action, tension, betrayal, romance.
Stefano Rossi the next Mafia Boss and Emiliana Vitale Mafia princess fell in love but they need to keep it a secret especially from Stefanos ruthless father. They meet in secret even if it’s for a few stolen moments. Their relationship is full of risk and danger but, Stefano has a plan especially now that he knows there’s a rat in the organization.
Emiliana has clawed her way through hell and back from a vicious attack initiated by a rat within the Five Families, she is a changed woman, and the darkness in her matches Stefano’s. She is ready to expose the rat and move forward with her life besides Stefano.
Can these two unmask the rat? Will Emiliana get her revenge? Can these two overcome their worlds to have a happily ever after?
You will need to read this book to find out.

I swear with each book in this series the stories get better and better. I think it’s because we get a glimpse of these characters in previous books, and we get just enough to pull us in, so that we need to stick around to hear their stories. Even in the first two books, you get a glimpse of why Stefano and Emiliana are meant to be together. Each character has ghosts in their past, Stefano has lost his siblings and mother to death, it is now only him and his sister who was married off by their father against everyone else’s. Stefano knows he needs to stop his father from the track he is on, and that he can’t have the true love of our life with his father still alive. Emiliana has a haunting past, and everyone treats her as if she is broken. However, surviving is what has made her even stronger. I can’t wait for Book 4 to come out in January!

Another amazing book by Amy McKinley. The 3rd book in the Mafia Elite series. She writes the perfect Mafia stories, good-looking Mob Bosses and gorgeous Mob Princesses. Stefano and Emiliana have been dancing around the issue of their love for each other forever. His father, a mob boss, is evil and a threat to Emiliana, a threat to everybody with his viciousness. Stefano’s main goal is to keep Emiliana safe and away from his father. The time has come for Stefano to step up and take the crown from his father.

Emiliana and Stefano have loved eachother since they were kids. However neither family wanted them to be near eachother. Stefano’s father, Frank Rossi, is head of the Rossi family in Chicago and is an evil man. He will do anything to keep his son under his rule and he has. Here had Emiliana abducted and sold to a sex trafficking ring and almost killed. But it was only with the help of Liliana’s cousin, Eva. Stefano would do anything to keep Em safe even if that means moving her in with him. What will happen, will they expel the rats that have caused so much damage to the five families?

A Dark Mafia that will have you wanting to join the fight. A Mob Boss and Mafia Princess that have always been in love but never found the perfect moments to declare their feelings. Stefano and Emiliana have to tackle twists and backstabbing just to find the happiness they deserve.

This might be the third book in this series, but you can read it without feeling lost and disconnected from the other stories. Great characters and a page-turning dark romance.

I have loved the other books in this series, and was excited to read the third book, which explores a romance between Emiliana and Stefano. While I still thoroughly enjoyed the story, I felt like this book wasn’t quite as impressive as the previous two; I didn’t feel like it rushed through the story, necessarily, but it just didn’t feel quite as in-depth as the others in this series.

I was happy to read a little more into the background on Emiliana’s kidnapping and Stefano’s family. The two had to keep their distance, despite their affections for one another since childhood, because of Stefano’s abusive father who would do anything to keep Stefano under his control. Stolen romantic moments in passing was all they had managed to explore until the other mafia bosses decided to set up Frank, Stefano’s father, to see if he was the mole who had caused so many attacks on the five families. Thanks to changing circumstances, Emiliana was pulled into Stefano’s protection, and the romance blooms.

If you’ve read the other books, this one does a great job of filling in gaps in the other stories and pulling everything together, but as a standalone book, I didn’t find this story to be as compelling as the previous two. However, it is a great continuation of the series.

Finally Stefano and Emiliana’s story…I have been looking forward to this one. I have seen snippets of these two and I can honestly say their romance lived up to the hype. Emiliana is fighting to get her life back together after being in a human trafficking situation. Dealing with PTSD, Emiliana gives us a realistic view of dealing with traumatic events. And the knight in shining armor is Stefano. It was a steamy romance that I loved!!

This is one of my favorite series and authors so I expected nothing but the best and she absolutely delivered! I loved Emiliana and Stefano, they have moved to my favorite characters of the series. Each book is a standalone about different people but is worth reading from the first book! It was an emotional rollercoaster I did not want to get off of. All in all I will always recommend these to anyone who loves a good Mafia Romance!

Born in Darkness (Mafia Elite, #3)Born in Darkness by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As usual, the author produced another romantic dark drama within the mafia families. This book is about Emiliana (Em), one of the mafia’s princesses. In the previous book, we learn a lot of Em and how she was kidnapped, trafficked, but also eventually saved by Stefano – the secret love of her life. In this book, we dive deeper into Em’s story and the secret love she has had for Stefano, her entire life. Stefano feels the same as Em, but his father, an evil mob boss who holds her over his head in order to get what he wants. Throughout this book, the two of them build their romance, go public, and try to find a way to live happily ever after. I love the way the author puts a story down, makes it easy to read, and while getting details is also straight to the point. My most favorite aspect of this book however, is the bad ass women! While each of the mafia books are geared around a main female character, I thought this particular one showed a different side. You know, growing up in a mafia family, you have to have a hard shell, training, and vigilance. The women, especially Em, showed that while the husbands, boyfriends, and bosses are not to be messed with, well neither are their women!!

A thrilling five-star read. This is number three in the Mafia Elite series and they each compliment and build the story, this author always writes a compelling story, and the details are sublime, the flow is great and honestly it just compounds into a fantastic story. Stefano he is such a great character, waiting his time and doing what he must, until he just cant do it any longer. Emiliana is great, but she did wear a little at times, but she did get me in the end. This is a great story and I will certainly be looking out for them in the future.

Okay, so this is the third book in the series, and just like the other two- the author does not disappoint. A romance told with plenty of action- and even dives into the past a bit to give insight into the characters. This book does seem to have a bit more of a “forbidden lovers” tone to it, but it ties right in with the story, making the heart grow fonder for the love that’s told. As the Elites search for the rat in the family, the find themselves knee-deep in danger (but that’s normal.) I do recommend this book- either as a stand alone, or as part of the rest of the series!

” Born in Darkness” is the third book in the “Mafia Elite” series and like the first two books, this book is phenomenal! Even though this is the third book in the series, it was no copycat of the previous books. The focus on different characters make each story unique. Emiliana and Stefano may have both been damaged in their lives but they aren’t victims or weak. They are intelligent, strong characters whose chemistry is sizzling.

This third book hands-down is my absolute favorite in the series. The characters are extremely well written and I love how fierce not just Stefano but also Emiliana are. It’s amazing to me how they almost match fierceness more than any other couple in the series so far. This book showcases just how despicable Frank is and the lengths that he will go to to try to destroy his son and Emiliana.

You start to see how the “family “is beginning to change and move into a new era. With each book especially this third one you start to feel the shift which keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes it hard to put down.

With each book we learn more and more history and more secrets come to light which serves to keep you 100% enthralled from the first page to the last page with anticipation. I enjoyed that the characters from book one and two are also in this book and still have great significance in the story.

As each new book comes I feel closer and closer to each character and become more fascinated with what will happen next. This author does a great job of weaving an amazing story and backstory as well as continuity throughout the series. I cannot wait for the next book and again this one was my favorite so far and easy five star read.

This is the third book in the series. You can read alone but for everything to gone together, you need to read them all. It is very easy to read. There are ups and downs, twist and turns in this book, but that’s what makes it so good! Each character is amazing. The mafia women are the best!
Emiliana grows so much from the start to the end of this book. Stefano wants to be better than his family. The sparks between these two are crazy.

Book 3 in the Mafia Elite series does it again.
A great mix of the down and dirty world of mafia families, passionate stolen moments and personal vendettas.

Stefano and Emiliana have eyes only for each other, but have to wait for Stefanos father to die off in order to be safe. Stolen kisses in secret have to be enough to satisfy them, but it ends up getting them caught and the witness turns out to be a rat.

This book is great standalone, but I love reading the prior books in a series and having some back story on fringe characters in the later offerings.

Born in darkness is the 3rd book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley, I am really enjoying this series so far and I am so glad that this booked ended the way it did! I think I guess who had been betraying the families at the end of the last book so was very glad to see that story progress. This book follows Stefano and Emiliana, who have been in love for as long as they can remember but due to Stefano’s controlling father they were never able to get to be together, that is until Emiliana life is put at risk again. I really liked this book, my only gripe is that it ended too quickly! I wanted them to string out the final confrontation but that’s just because I was cheering them on. This is a fast paced and exciting read. Highly recommend.

Book 3 in what is currently a 5 book series. This installment can technically be read on its own but the back information you would have from reading the other books was beneficial to me keeping the information and names straight. This book answers some questions that were left open from the previous books and seems to set up things for book 4. Note, by jumping to book 3 you also get spoiled on the former romances and a little bit on how they came about.

I really enjoyed the building relationship between Emiliana and Stefano. Stefano is the son of one of the five heads of family for the Chicago Italian Mafia, but he is fighting against his father’s tyrannical rule of his life. Emiliana is still recovering from her abduction and being sold into human trafficking. Both have yearned for the other since they were kids, but can they overcome their life situations to finally be together?

I loved that Stefano is able to help Em continue to build herself up after her ordeal, and doesn’t shy away from it or hold it against her. She’s healing but he’s willing to be there as a support system and friend for her. I also enjoyed seeing Stefano standing up for himself and dealing with the ramifications of his father’s actions.

As mentioned, some lingering questions from the other two books are answered here and I enjoyed the mystery aspect of that. We see more tension build up with the Bratva here and I can’t wait to see what comes of that in book 4.

Content warning: suicide, talk of human trafficking and arranged marriages, violence against women, gun violence, death, mafia violence, torture.

I could not wait to read this, I fell in love with Emiliana and Stefano right from the start and read this book in one sitting. I was able to do that because I know that when I start a book by this author I never want to put it down so I made sure I chose a day I could just jump in and savor every word.

This was a perfect addition to this series. If you have not read these yet, you really must. This had me on the edge of my seat more than once and I found I couldn’t read fast enough because I had to know what was going to happen next! As usual the twists were placed perfectly and you never knew they were coming.

I love this author, she is among my favorites, and I’d read anything she writes. I can not wait for January when book 4 comes. I also can not wait to read all of these again back to back on a quiet rainy weekend!

Loved It!!

Born in Darkness is another great book by this author! The book started off a bit slow to me. I was hoping for the instant connection that I felt with the characters in the previous Mafia Elite books. By the 3rd or 4th chapter, I was hooked! Stefano and Emiliana have loved each other since childhood but could not let anyone around them know. These star-crossed lovers endured a lot in their lives from abuse, kidnapping, and death of loved ones but they were always there for each other – as friends. Danger brings them together in this story and their love for each other is sparked.

This series just continues to get better and better with each new book this author releases! This book was just amazing – from start to finish I was captivated by Stefano and Emiliana’s story – it was fast paced, dark, romantic, action packed and so much more. I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough trying to find out what was going to happen next there was just so much going on it was very addictive to read. I love mafia and I love forbidden romance bit a forbidden mafia romance tops them all!!
Although this book is part of a series it could be read as a standalone but having read the other books, I would highly recommend reading them in order.

I really liked this book however the ending for me was a little anti climatic. I was expecting so much more and I was kind of let down. The rest of the book was fabulous! I love Em and Stefano. They are hot from the get go…even in their own darkness.

This book is book 3 in the series and is not a standalone. This author’s writing style keeps me reading, keeps me turning the pages. The fire that Em has makes it easy to admire her. The darkness and determination that Stefano has makes it easy to love him. The evil that Frank has makes it easy to continue to hate him.

Looking forward to what comes next for this group of Mafia princesses and princes.

As the year comes to an end, I am once again astounded by the talent that this author has for writing. Like the previous two books in the series, as well as many of her other works, the book was quick to draw me in, especially since I’ve enjoyed the other two books immensely and couldn’t wait for the story to continue, even if it was focused on yet another new pair of characters, much like her other stories. This book, like many others, can be read as a standalone novel, but there are references to previous books in the series that make more sense if you have read them as well.

Stefano and Emiliana have fate against them in this continuation of the addictive Mafia Elite story. Much like Romeo and Juliet, they are forbidden to love one another, but in this modern ‘re-telling’ of the story, the situation is much more complex. The Five Families have discovered a rat in their midst, so whilst trying to hide their love from her father, Stefano is doing everything in his power to protect Emiliana and figure out who is causing trouble in Chicago. The connection between the two, the guessing on who may be the snitch and the overall anticipation of what will become of the forbidden couple made the book impossible to put down. Needless to say, I am beyond thrilled that there is another book in the series, and plan to read it as soon as I am able to!
