The Chosen: Book One: The Orb Quest Series
By Cari Shaeffer

This was a fun, adventurous, full of action story. I enjoyed the characters and how even though they are teenagers this book can be read by everyone. The author did an awesome job drawing me into the story and keeping me entertained. This book did a good job setting up for the next one in the series and I can’t wait to read it. I can’t say that I really have a favorite of the four yet but I’m sure as I get to know them better its bound to happen. I recommend this book it was definitely a good read the kind that once you start it’s hard to put down.

Four Stars

The weight of the world is on four teenagers shoulders. Chosen to find the orbs and save the world. Can you imagine at 17 having to fight a battle you were predestined to fight? The amount of growth it took these kids to put away childish things and become heroes. The author did a great job keeping them kids while they faced this evil journey. Though they matured they still had teenager moments. Allie had to be my favorite at moments she was real and predictable. Gemma was harder to figure out. I’m still holding out judgment for the guys. In the story the author gives you a taste of what this series could evolve into. The possibilities are endless. I’m excited to see where the author leads us on this mystical adventure.

The Chosen was a brilliant and captivating read by Cari Schaeffer –it is also the first book that I have read by her and the first thing that I noticed was how fantastic her writing was. It was imaginative, creative and very entertaining. The action started straight away which I loved; it meant that I was already hooked into the story from the very first page. I really enjoyed the plot for the story and thought that it was very unique and my attention was definitely held throughout the book. I really liked the characters in the story and the bond that they had going through, I especially liked Gemma, I thought that she had this real determination about her along with a fierce loyalty that I admired!
I am really looking forward to seeing where the author takes this series and I can’t wait to read the next book.

“What is a convergence?” “It is the coming together of everything to a specific point in time.”

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and the first book of the series. It’s quick and entertaining and an overall adventure. This story jumps right in and because I had not read the blurb or given more than a quick glance at the cover, I initially wasn’t sure what type of book this was going to be. THE CHOSEN is everything!!

I would classify this as a YA/Coming of Age story that I think would hold my young nieces attention. The chapters are short and each holds a lot of action and forward movement. The story ebbs and flows in that miraculous way that suddenly I was at the end and I wanted more. I assume there is going to be AT A MINIMUM four stories to the series and I think if they all continue this strong and are this to the point, they could go on for a long time coming.

5 SOLID STARS

The Chosen (The Orb Quest Series, #1)
By Cari Schaeffer
Rated 4 stars

This is a good strong start to a interesting story. I was drawn in right from the prologue and it didn’t let go until the end. This is filled with action, suspense and wonderment. These four have quite an adventure ahead of them! I am excited to read the second in the series to find out what happens next.

This is my first book by this author. The story flowed and engaged nicely and had ups and downs. The characters were easy to identify with and seemed fun and they acquired some exciting powers. I can’t wait to see how they are able to use them in a real world scenario. I enjoy the identifying markers that make these four different. What can they do in the future?

This is a tried and true story done with a twist. This author takes the teenager on a mission trope and flips it on its head. I found that although this is a short story, like an introduction or set up, it didn’t lack anything. The characters were fully developed and the plot kept me flipping pages faster and faster. The thing I love about books like this one is that even though I think I know some things, I’m still surprised at how things turn out. I finished reading this book and instantly looked for the next one. Book two has yet to be released but believe me, I will be looking for it.

The Chosen: Book One: The Orb Quest Series by Cari Shaeffer is a interesting YA story. There is action, mystery, fantasy, danger, and did I say leaving teenagers to learn the truths of the destiny of others? It is a story of friendships and being able to trust one another on this magical adventure. The storyline took me on a roller coaster ride but it was well worth the ride. Would you be willing to let teenagers learn about the truth behind the orbs?

Transformations: The Shifters Series by Cari Schaeffer

Four Stars

A new twist on shifters. This is the first book I have read by this author. Transformations was a interesting read because it took shifting a different route. Like your shifting multiple things not just one animal. At the age of 17 your emotions are already crazy but then you add in Kate’s transition and it’s even worse. Kate is like any 17 year old. She wants to have fun and be normal. But one fateful night many years ago chose something different for her and her family. The many gifts the families hold are so unique. Though Anastasia’s gift is the best. The story is very well written. The moments of heighten emotions are some what tangible. The family bond is felt through every member. The mystery of the spy is shocking. Overall I truly enjoyed this short read. It had a touch of humor and a whole lot of romance.

Transformations is in the paranormal/fantasy genre. This story is off the charts and Cari Schaeffer does an amazing job with her characters and scenery. She wants to have you immerse yourself in the story. I felt like I could have taken the place of Kat. It is a fast read but one must not overlook the subtle interactions of the characters. Kat is one of the main characters in the story. She lost her family to the Barortkoff family at a young age. Kat is growing up and is becoming a Shifter. She is unsure what she is supposed to be since her family was gone. She is hoping she would be normal because she does not want people coming after her. Christopher is emerging into Kat’s life. The bad news about that happening is that he is a part of the family that murdered her parents. Should Kat be trusting and see how things go between Christopher and herself or should she run away? I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.
